1st (1) (2.75/1 -129%) Hurt You Never |
2.75/1(-129%) | (1) Hurt You Never 2.75/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this year. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap (8/11) at Leicester (6f, good) 8 days ago. Had a lot left in the tank there so the one to beat off just a 3 lb higher mark. Recent Redcar and Leicester wins (6f, good to firm) were in higher bands; big player.. |

Visor/tongue strap back on with more needed. More tempting on artificial surfaces, one near-miss at Thirsk aside; has left Roy Bowring.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (20/1 +9%) Zegos Surprise |
20/1(+9%) | (10) Zegos Surprise 20/1, Respectable 2¾ lengths fourth of 13 to Beast of Burden in handicap (10/1) at Newcastle (6f) 40 days ago. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021, though. Not far behind Hurt You Never and Beast Of Burden at Newcastle this spring; place claims.. |

8th (12) (25/1 -56%) Oriental Lilly |
25/1(-56%) | (12) Oriental Lilly 25/1, Twenty three runs since last win in 2021. 13/2, only fair fourth of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Others appeal more. Better strike-rate at sprint distances, so return to 6f a plus; long losing run even so.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (28/1 -133%) Fristel |
28/1(-133%) | (8) Fristel 28/1, Respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, firm, 4/1) 19 days ago. Remains a maiden after 19 Flat runs. 0-19 but keeping on at Bath latest (5.5f, firm); still not many goes in turf handicaps.. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (4.5/1 +36%) Beast Of Burden |
4.5/1(+36%) | (7) Beast Of Burden 4.5/1, Lightly-raced winner. Tongue strap on for 1st time, career best when winning 13-runner handicap at Newcastle (6f, 12/1) 40 days ago by 1¼ lengths from Macho Pride, driven clear. Shortlisted. Newcastle handicap debut winner (6f) in first-time tongue-tie latest; 0-1 on turf.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (8/1 +6%) Monsieur Fantaisie |
8/1(+6%) | (3) Monsieur Fantaisie 8/1, One win from 24 Flat runs. 7/1, below form fifth of 9 to Hurt You Never in handicap at Redcar (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive. Better than strike-rate; 8l defeat by Hurt You Never latest but has a swing in the weights. |

200/1(-300%) | (9) Henery Hawk 200/1, 50/1, last of 7 in handicap at Ayr (5f, good to firm) 41 days ago. Back up in trip with work to do. Has made the frame over 6f-8.5f off up to 9lb higher; last home in two sprints this term.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HURT YOU NEVER continued the fine form of Adrian Nicholls' yard when completing a double a Leicester last Tuesday and she's hard to oppose off only 3lb higher here. Giselles Izzy also looks capable of picking up a race soon based on current form and is feared most. Beast Of Burden proved a different proposition when successful on her handicap debut at Newcastle last month and completes the shortlist off 6lb more.
A few with chances but HURT YOU NEVER scored easily at Leicester only eight days ago and is impossible to oppose off just a 3 lb higher mark. Jackmeister Rudi wasn't seen to best effect when sixth at Wolverhampton last time and appeals as the one to chase home the hat-trick seeker. Ripon runner-up Giselles Izzy can emerge as the best of the rest for place purposes.
Back down to a 0-55 and with trip/ground fine, HURT YOU NEVER can complete the hat-trick, ahead of Fristel and Beast Of Burden.

0.36/1(+0%) | (3) Scoops Ahoy 0.36/1, Posted fair form in both starts thus far, latest when second of 12 in maiden at Beverley (5f, soft) 44 days ago. Should prove hard to beat. Runner-up on both starts; different ground here but holds standout form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8.5/1 +23%) Riverview Law |
8.5/1(+23%) | (6) Riverview Law 8.5/1, Foaled March 19. 8,500 gns yearling, Muhaarar filly. Closely related to 6f winner Pure Charmer and half-sister to 5.3f winner Aish and 2-y-o 6f winner Reward Smile. Dam sprint maiden. Bred for sprinting and is worth monitoring in market on debut. There's some potential in her pedigree and a market check is advised on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (66/1 -32%) Zaphea |
66/1(-32%) | (7) Zaphea 66/1, Twice-raced filly. Thirteenth of 14 in minor event at Redcar (5f, good, 100/1) 16 days ago. Hard to recommend. Well beaten on first two starts and she's hard to fancy. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 +70%) Evoluir |
10/1(+70%) | (2) Evoluir 10/1, Once-raced colt. 22/1, last of 6 in minor event at Pontefract (6f, good) on debut 19 days ago. Improvement required. Half-brother to two winners but he has to leave his debut form miles behind. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SCOOPS AHOY sets a high standard on last month's runner-up effort at Beverley and a first career success looks on the cards. Petra Celera was green on her debut at Carlisle at the start of the month and that experience may enable an improved performance here. However, Blue Moon Baby boasts a nice pedigree and may emerge as a bigger threat.
SCOOPS AHOY has acquitted himself well in both outings to date and has been found a good opportunity to open his account here. He can take full advantage. Newcomers Blue Moon Baby and Riverview Law may provide the main threat.
The David O'Meara-trained SCOOPS AHOY has by far the best form and is taken to get off the mark. Petra Celera is second choice.

1st (5) (10/1 +38%) Spanish Hustle |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Spanish Hustle 10/1, Temperamental sort. 7 lengths sixth of 7 to Hot Team in handicap at this course (9f, good to firm, 12/1) 14 days ago. Up in trip. Has work to do. Yet to spark under either code for this yard, including following wind surgery last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (6.5/1 +28%) Lochnaver |
6.5/1(+28%) | (6) Lochnaver 6.5/1, C&D winner. Shaped better than result when sixth of 9 in handicap at this course (1½m, good to firm, 4/1) 6 days ago, going off too hard. Hood back on. Still above a winning mark, but 2-5 here in the returning hood; chance if settling.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 -33%) Fifty Sent |
3/1(-33%) | (3) Fifty Sent 3/1, Solid start for the Michael Dods stable, winning at Newcastle in May and creditable second of 7 in handicap at Ayr (1¼m, good to firm) since. Likely to be bang there again. Newcastle win and Ayr second (1m2f) last twice are career-best form efforts; up in trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -9%) Hot Team |
6/1(-9%) | (4) Hot Team 6/1, Won 7-runner handicap at this course (9f, good to firm, 9/1) 14 days ago. Won back to back last summer and ought to remain very competitive after a 4 lb rise. Three wins here (including last time) all over 1m1f and today's trip still stretches him.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (1.88/1 +37%) Graces Quest |
1.88/1(+37%) | (1) Graces Quest 1.88/1, Won at Carlisle (11f) at start of this month. Shaped as if still in form when last of 4 in handicap at this course (13f, good to firm, 17/2) 6 days ago. Carlisle scorer off 1lb lower two runs back (1m3f, good) and excuses since; player again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (5/1 -43%) Bulls Aye |
5/1(-43%) | (2) Bulls Aye 5/1, Unreliable type. Latest win at Carlisle in June. Might have found run coming too soon when only fifth of 6 in handicap at Musselburgh (1m, good to firm, 11/8) just 24 hours later. Significantly back up in trip. Easy 1m1f Carlisle scorer at start of the month and next race came too soon; respected.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GRACES QUEST struggled at a higher level here recently, nevertheless, Jim Goldie's mare drops in class off 4lb lower and a bold bid can be anticipated. Fifty Sent lost little in defeat when runner-up at Ayr earlier in the month and enters calculations off the same mark. Three-time course winner Hot Team clearly likes this venue and also warrants consideration in his current fettle.
FIFTY SENT can enhance his good start to the season by adding to last month's Newcastle success. Recent course scorer Hot Team retains handicapping scope on last year's form and is second choice ahead of Lochnaver, who was better than the result last time and is back on a workable mark.
The only confirmed pacesetter, LOCHNAVER could account for stablemate Graces Quest if suited by the return of the hood.

Blinkers on first time now dropping in trip. Hasn't progressed but the first-time blinkers and drop back in trip are sources of hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (14/1 +30%) Borough |
14/1(+30%) | (5) Borough 14/1, Well beaten in 2 comeback outings for new yard last month and can only be watched for the time being. He's dropping down the weights but needs to raise his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 -50%) Northern Spirit |
3/1(-50%) | (3) Northern Spirit 3/1, Second 6f Newcastle handicap win of the year when leading near the finish 6 weeks ago. A further 4 lb rise doesn't look severe assuming he's as effective on turf (well held previous attempt but it was his debut). Two AW wins this year; key player if transferring that form back to turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (1.75/1 +36%) American Affair |
1.75/1(+36%) | (2) American Affair 1.75/1, Winner of novice at Wetherby (7f) in May. Respectable sixth of 14 in handicap (14/1) at York (7f, good to firm) since. Back down in trip. Remains unexposed. Fair effort over 7f on handicap debut and this drop back to 6f could suit; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (8.5/1 +53%) Royal Mariner |
8.5/1(+53%) | (6) Royal Mariner 8.5/1, 20/1, not seen to best effect when fifth of 9 in handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 13 days ago, late headway after being denied a run and forced to switch. Eased another 2 lb. Hasn't shone on first two runs for new yard and headgear remains absent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 -100%) Storm Venture |
8/1(-100%) | (4) Storm Venture 8/1, Fair form at 2. 10/1, creditable third of 6 in nursery at Nottingham (5f, soft) on final start in October. Can be competitive if fully primed after 8 months off. Fair thirds over 5f in both nurseries; gelded since; the return to 6f looks the right move. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NORTHERN SPIRIT has been consistent this term, notching up two wins from his four outings, and the Brian Ellison-trained three-year-old can take another step forward in this contest. Despite finding trouble in-running, he ran on well to land the spoils in the closing stages at Newcastle last month and gets the nod to defy a 4lb rise. Storm Venture hit the line with plenty of conviction on his last two outings over the minimum trip and this step back up in distance may suit, while American Affair can follow them home.
If NORTHERN SPIRIT can translate his AW form to the turf he might still be handicapped to win again. This is less competitive than the race American Affair contested on his York handicap debut and Jim Goldie's charge is second choice ahead of the returning Storm Venture.
Having faded late on when sixth of 14 over 7f at York on his handicap debut, AMERICAN AFFAIR earns the vote now back down in trip.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8.5/1 +15%) Iris Dancer |
8.5/1(+15%) | (6) Iris Dancer 8.5/1, C&D winner. Fifth of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Carlisle (5f, good to soft) 12 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Back up in trip. Others more persuasive. Dual C&D winner on softer than good; recent 2nd here on good was close to her best form.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -60%) Water Of Leith |
12/1(-60%) | (4) Water Of Leith 12/1, Fourth of 5 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to firm, 7/4) 41 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Pulled chance away latest but season's best run even so; back to his last winning mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (4/1 +38%) Elladora |
4/1(+38%) | (7) Elladora 4/1, C&D winner. 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win here in May. Creditable second of 6 in handicap over C&D (good to firm, 10/3) 6 days ago. Should give another good account. In career-best form win or lose around this C&D of late; yet to sparkle in class 4.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (2.75/1 +31%) Vince Lombardi |
2.75/1(+31%) | (3) Vince Lombardi 2.75/1, Posted career best when scoring over C&D last month and far from disgraced back over the minimum trip at Pontefract since. Respected. Career-best effort when C&D 0-80 winner two runs back; shorter trip against him latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (5/1 -11%) Pearle D'or |
5/1(-11%) | (2) Pearle D'or 5/1, Left yard debut effort well behind, in first-time hood, when second of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm, 14/1) 6 days ago. Races off same mark here and must enter calculations. Inspired by hood when second at Yarmouth latest (6f); player despite likely pace rivalry.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (6/1 +33%) Buckshaw Village |
6/1(+33%) | (5) Buckshaw Village 6/1, 9/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 62 days ago. Others look better treated. Second in C&D 0-80 a year ago off same mark; mixed results on AW latterly.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ABERAMA GOLD got back to winning ways on his latest outing at Wolverhampton, comfortably getting the better of seven rivals. The six-year-old could be on the premises yet again with a reproduction of that effort and he gets the tentative vote under a penalty. Vince Lombardi recorded a career best when decisively beating Iris Dancer (second) over C&D last month and he must be respected. Water Of Leith failed to fire last time out in similar company but may be able to bounce back off 1lb lower.
ABERAMA GOLD had plenty in hand when resuming winning ways at Wolverhampton last week and can follow up. Pearle d'Or and Vince Lombardi are feared most.
Resurgent in the hood last time, PEARLE D'OR may prove the answer barring a ruinous pace battle. Aberama Gold is feared most.

2.5/1(-43%) | (3) Newyorkstateofmind 2.5/1, Returned to form when close second of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good) 9 days ago. Can race off same mark here and holds strong claims. Just 1-34 on turf but went very close at Thirsk last Monday and he's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2.75/1 -10%) Refuge |
2.75/1(-10%) | (2) Refuge 2.75/1, Bagged fourth course success last month and backed that up with solid third of 7 in handicap over C&D (good to firm) 14 days ago. Should go well again. Four-time C&D winner and his last-time-out C&D third has worked out very well. |

5th (5) (6.5/1 -30%) Yaahobby |
6.5/1(-30%) | (5) Yaahobby 6.5/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 22/1, creditable second of 10 in handicap at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) 8 days ago, running on. Warrants respect. 0-7 on turf but good second at Wetherby last Tuesday and could be thereabouts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A winner of four of his seven starts over C&D and not beaten far on his latest outing, REFUGE looks the one to beat with conditions appearing to be ideal. Yaahobby has finished off his races well the last twice and will need a strong pace to aim at to be seen to best effect over this distance, while Newyorkstateofmind has dropped 2lb below his last winning mark.
Preference is for NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND, who has dropped to a handy mark and bounced back to form at Thirsk last week. Refuge may provide the chief threat.
Four-time C&D winner REFUGE (nap) ran another good race here when third last time out and the first two have both won since.

6th (1) (4.5/1 -29%) Mi Capricho |
4.5/1(-29%) | (1) Mi Capricho 4.5/1, C&D winner. Disappointed at Southwell when last seen in February but is now 2 lb below his last winning mark and may get the run of the race here. Major question regarding current form but has won on both previous visits to Hamilton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MAKALU bounced back to winning ways with a determined success at Redcar last time out and the four-year-old merits plenty of respect here. He can get the better of the capable My Honey B and Chinese Spirit, who bounced back to form with a narrow defeat at Musselburgh last time out. C&D winner Cosa Sara is another that could have a say in proceedings.
It could be worth chancing MI CAPRICHO, who has dropped to a handy mark and may get things his own way up front here. Recent Redcar winner Makalu is feared most.
Having been in good form this season, MAKALU deservedly returned to winning ways at Redcar a fortnight ago and is taken to follow up.
Ths is the racecard key.
