1st (5) (5/1 +41%) Rhythm King |
5/1(+41%) | (5) Rhythm King 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Bellewstown in April. 4/1, last of 9 in handicap at Fairyhouse (7f, good to soft) 28 days ago. C&D nursery winner on soft and won on heavy at Bellewstown in April; can't be ruled out. |

2nd (2) (9/1 -50%) Excuzio Joe |
9/1(-50%) | (2) Excuzio Joe 9/1, 28/1, tenth of 20 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.3f, good to soft) on NH debut. Off 10 months. First run for yard after leaving Matthew J. Smith. Worth a market check. Good record over 7f/1m on testing ground; does well this time of year but long time off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (2/1 +11%) Wrist Art |
2/1(+11%) | (6) Wrist Art 2/1, 13/8, career best when winning 13-runner handicap at Thurles (8f, soft) 11 days ago, driven clear. Should go well again. 6yo is another rapid improver from yard in blinding form; 12lb higher for 1m Thurles win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -82%) Mogwli |
5/1(-82%) | (4) Mogwli 5/1, Latest win at Bellewstown in September. Very good second of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft, 15/2) 9 days ago, clear of rest. Worth chancing to go one better. Loves the mud and in great heart; 8lb hike for latest run is steep for well-exposed 6yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -100%) Pandora Lovegood |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Pandora Lovegood 14/1, 11/1, last of 7 in handicap at Roscommon (7.2f, good to soft) 42 days ago. Others have achieved more. Won twice over 7f on testing ground last year; hasn't finished in front of many this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/3 +67%) Loingseoir |
10/3(+67%) | (1) Loingseoir 10/3, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 10/1, shaped as if still in form when sixth of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft) 9 days ago. Can give another good account. Won in October last two years; behind Mowgli and Comfort Line at the Curragh last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (10/1 +29%) Comfort Line |
10/1(+29%) | (7) Comfort Line 10/1, C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. Visored for 1st time, fourth of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft, 33/1) 9 days ago, nearest finish. C&D win on heavy was one of three for previous yard; 7l off Mowgli when fourth at Curragh. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
COMFORT LINE has ground to make up with Mogwli on a run nine days ago but returned to form then. Once rated 92, his rating has fallen 16lb in 2023 and while beaten just over seven lengths by Mogwli at the Curragh, he stayed on from off the pace and is 10lb better off. Mogwli paid the price for finishing second, and pulling seven lengths clear of the third, at the Curragh and likes easy ground. Wrist Art's rating has climbed from 47 to 70 recently and while he revels in testing conditions and could progress further, dropping in distance isn't ideal. Rhythm King also loves soft and while he is forgiven a disappointing run on yielding ground last month and was a winner at this distance as a juvenile, he might prefer a mile nowadays. Pandora Lovegood has a similar profile in that she also won twice at this distance as a juvenile and goes really well on soft ground. Loingseoir was behind the selection at the Curragh and would prefer a mile.
Having only found one too good in a big field at the Curragh last time, MOGWLI seems an obvious choice to make amends in this less-competitive environment. Wrist Art is the chief threat and Loingseoir can't be ruled out.
Two of these have gone up sharply in the ratings but WRIST ART is less exposed then Mowgli and can be another winner for Tim Doyle

1st (9) (7/1 +0%) Expecto |
7/1(+0%) | (9) Expecto 7/1, Respectable third of 9 in nursery (6/1) at Down Royal (7f, good to firm) 38 days ago. Place possibilities. Beaten 6l off the same mark at Down Royal so has something to find.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (12/1 +64%) La Juliana |
12/1(+64%) | (8) La Juliana 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1, last of 14 in minor event at Naas (5.9f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Significantly up in trip for this handicap debut. Easy to look elsewhere. Well held in two maidens before finishing last in a valuable race at Naas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/8 -10%) Tatum |
11/8(-10%) | (4) Tatum 11/8, Lightly-raced maiden. Good second of 6 in nursery (15/8) at Bellewstown (7.6f, heavy) 18 days ago, clear of rest. Yard in good form and she's a big player. Bang there in her two nurseries and a winner waiting to happen off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 +46%) Highland Bells |
15/2(+46%) | (7) Highland Bells 15/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, sixth of 18 in maiden at Navan (5.8f, soft) 12 days ago. Significantly back up in trip for this handicap debut. Perhaps a little better for being gelded when sixth of 18 at Navan (5.5f); should stay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 -5%) Pomeriggio |
7/2(-5%) | (1) Pomeriggio 7/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/2 and blinkered for 1st time, respectable fourth of 8 in nursery at the Curragh (7f, heavy) 22 days ago. Enters calculations. Slowly getting there and returning to 1m looks a good move; thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (15/2 -50%) Koniag |
15/2(-50%) | (5) Koniag 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1, good fifth of 13 in nursery at Naas (8f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Live each-way contender. Didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when close up behind Pomeriggio in a Naas nursery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (40/1 -21%) Abel Mabel |
40/1(-21%) | (6) Abel Mabel 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in maiden at Thurles (8f, soft, 150/1) 11 days ago. Sizeable step forward needed now pitched into a handicap. Best effort was probably her debut when beaten 9l at Cork; improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (25/1 +0%) Kilworth Kate |
25/1(+0%) | (2) Kilworth Kate 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 8 in maiden at Thurles (8f, soft, 28/1) 11 days ago. Makes handicap debut and plenty to find on form. Yard also saddles Kathaniel. She has shown enough to believe there could be a low-grade nursery in her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (14/1 -17%) Kathaniel |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Kathaniel 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 22/1, tenth of 13 in nursery at Naas (8f, good to soft) 32 days ago. No more than an each-way squeak. Wouldn't be the obvious answer unless heavy ground can bring him on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TATUM's handicap form is useful and ran well on heavy ground recently, which is a positive coming here. She is now 6lb worse off having beaten Pomeriggio by three-parts of a length at Naas in September but might confirm those placings having proven herself in testing conditions. Pomeriggio, in contrast, was well enough held on soft ground subsequently at the Curragh, with blinkers being retained for a second time. Expecto received a bump when running satisfactorily at Down Royal but reverts to more testing ground, while Koniag was behind the selection at Naas but was beaten 19 lengths, albeit by Henry Longfellow, on his only run on soft ground. Highland Bells showed improvement, having been gelded, at Navan and can compete on his handicap debut.
This represents a good opportunity for TATUM to deservedly get off the mark. She has improved switched to nurseries the last twice and a 2 lb nudge for her recent Bellewstown near miss looks very fair indeed given that she pulled clear of the rest. Pomeriggio has also performed with credit since going down the nursery route and she is second choice ahead of Expecto and Koniag.
The most appealing option is TATUM (nap), who had a few of these behind when third at Naas and she ran better again at Bellewstown.

1st (2) (10/3 +45%) Grey Leader |
10/3(+45%) | (2) Grey Leader 10/3, Lightly-raced winner. Course winner. 2 wins from 4 runs this year. Latest win at Listowel in June. Respectable third of 6 in minor event at Killarney (8.1f, good, 11/2) 53 days ago. Course maiden winner on yielding; third of six in Killarney rated race and may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/4 +68%) Machnamh |
9/4(+68%) | (6) Machnamh 9/4, Fairly useful filly. Career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 14/1) 10 days ago, keeping on well. Back down in trip. May keep progressing after 10.5f AW victory; beat Perfect Poise in 7f maiden; ground fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (2/1 +43%) Perfect Poise |
2/1(+43%) | (5) Perfect Poise 2/1, Fairly useful filly. Winner at Punchestown in September. 10/3, good second of 10 in handicap at Navan (8f, soft) 12 days ago, sticking to task. Stable having good spell. Leading contender. Just worn down by rival completing a four-timer at Navan and handles testing ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (17/2 -55%) Lecale's Approach |
17/2(-55%) | (4) Lecale's Approach 17/2, Made a winning debut on Dundalk's AW (8f, 12/1) last November. It's taken a while to get her back but she's open to progress. Beat pair of subsequent maiden winners at Dundalk last November; effective mark of 83. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/1 -50%) Malbay Madness |
5/1(-50%) | (1) Malbay Madness 5/1, Fairly useful gelding. Tailed off on Auteuil hurdle debut last month but scored over 1m on the Flat at Galway prior to that. Won on second start of the week at Galway festival; tailed off at Auteuil on hurdles debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KATOLA hasn't run since making her debut in August but that soft-ground success was promising. Typically well-bred by her owner, she was well supported at Naas with the runner-up, third and fifth each winning maidens subsequently and the sixth and ninth scoring in handicaps. She lacks a recent run but should improve and can better her 83 perch. Perfect Poise is in-form and well suited by conditions but is vulnerable to an unexposed type. Machnamh is ground-versatile and won at Dundalk but is exposed, while Grey Leader had good form this summer but doesn't look ahead of his 83 rating. Malbay Madness disappointed when tried in a Listed Auteuil Hurdle on September 1 (beaten 77 lengths in last) and while his Flat form is useful and he likes easy ground, he has enough on his plate, despite his rider claiming 7lb. Lecale's Approach's yard is doing very well and while she beat two subsequent maiden winners to score on debut, makes her return from 332 days off on differing ground.
PERFECT POISE has been running consistently well in handicaps lately and might prove the answer to this quite useful rated event. Katola should have more to come on the back of her Naas debut success and is second choice ahead of Malbay Madness who ran no sort of race on his hurdle debut in France last month but had been in good nick on the Flat prior to that.
A tightly-knit handicap in effect and MACHNAMH is taken to keep improving after winning over a longer trip on the Poytrack at Dundalk

1st (3) (3/1 -33%) Highland Rahy |
3/1(-33%) | (3) Highland Rahy 3/1, Fairly useful gelding. Remains a maiden after 7 Flat runs. 4/1, creditable second of 5 in maiden at Cork (8f, good to firm) 40 days ago, having run of race. That still puts him right in the mix. Made the frame in five of his seven starts from 7f-8f; never run on ground this testing. |

2nd (4) (1/1 +47%) Toll Stone |
1/1(+47%) | (4) Toll Stone 1/1, Lightly-raced gelding. 13/2, very good third of 11 in maiden at Listowel (8f, soft) 25 days ago. Has good chance on form. Came from off the pace when third at Listowel and ground here likely to be similar. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/1 -80%) Rapid City |
9/1(-80%) | (2) Rapid City 9/1, Thrice-raced colt. Fourth of 14 in maiden (40/1) at Punchestown (9f, good to soft) 33 days ago, running on. Getting better with each recent run. Progressed with each run; beaten around a length when running-on fourth over 1m1f latest. |

4th (6) (9/2 +0%) Time To Soar |
9/2(+0%) | (6) Time To Soar 9/2, Fair filly. Remains a maiden after 7 Flat runs. Blinkered for first time, creditable second of 7 in maiden at Killarney (8.1f, heavy, 8/1) 16 days ago. Back to form in first-time blinkers when beaten half a length on heavy ground at Killarney. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (17/2 +23%) Spirit Of Paradise |
17/2(+23%) | (5) Spirit Of Paradise 17/2, Lightly-raced filly. 10/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Killarney (8.1f, heavy) 16 days ago, folding. Looked far from straightforward when fourth at Navan; poor on heavy ground at Killarney. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (100/1 -25%) Chain Of Destiny |
100/1(-25%) | (1) Chain Of Destiny 100/1, Last of 9 in maiden (66/1) at Tipperary (7.4f, soft) 66 days ago. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces on for first time. Placed in Curragh maiden a year ago but soundly beaten in three starts since; headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Going a bit further now should suit TOLL STONE and he can get off the mark. The Australia gelding was staying on when third to Water Nymph over a mile at Listowel in testing conditions on his last outing and this would appear to be a nice opportunity for him now. He is joint top-rated in the field with a mark of 75 and the other horse that holds that rating, Highland Rahy, probably doesn't want the ground too deep. He has had a couple of decent placed efforts on his last two outings but has missed engagements since due to testing ground. Rapid City ran well when fourth at Punchestown and is a potential improver.
The way TOLL STONE stuck to his task over 1m at Listowel last time suggests he'll be fine over this trip and he's just about the most compelling option. Rapid City is going the right way and is feared most, ahead of Highland Rahy.
A race confined to those rated no higher than 75. TIME TO SOAR stuck at it well over 1m on heavy ground at Killarney and gets the vote

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SPECIAL PROTECTOR ran well from a bad draw at Navan last time and may be able to give in-form trainer Tim Doyle another winner here. She made up a nice bit of ground from the rear down the straight last time to finish fifth to Patrick Street and having been eased a pound since that run she looks capable of landing a race of this standard. Rough And Tough was a couple of places behind the selection last time and also has to come into consideration here with Wesley Joyce taking 7lb off now. Wee Winnie ran well on her second start back from a long absence when third at Down Royal three weeks ago and, with Jack Kearney taking 7lb off her back now, she looks nicely treated.
WEE WINNIE is on an appealing mark and returned to from at Down Royal last time so, with cheekpieces refitted, she gets the nod ahead of Special Protector. Rough And Tough is another one to consider.
The ground is a grey area for SPECIAL PROTECTOR but she arrives here in better form than most and should have hit the frame last time.

Noel Meade has done well this year with the progeny of Churchill and MY BIRTHDAY GIRL may be worth a shot here on her handicap debut. The chestnut filly travelled well to the road in a maiden at Down Royal last time but found her path blocked when asked for an effort a furlong and a half from home. That was an improved showing on her first two runs and she could be nicely treated here off a mark of 53. Patrick Street was a 28/1 shot when winning at Navan last time and got an 8lb hike for that victory. That makes life tougher but he has to be respected. Colin Keane is an eye-catching booking for Lisamaria, who has been knocking on the door, and she is another for the shortlist.
LISAMARIA had an excuse last time (second run in quick succession) and might be able to come good with Colin Keane back in the saddle. Stormie Outlook, Queen Mab and recent Navan scorer Patrick Street head the dangers.
Patrick Street should feature but LISAMARIA ran well behind that one at Navan and her Thurles run came too soon.

1st (6) (4/1 +43%) Ellaat |
4/1(+43%) | (6) Ellaat 4/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2021. 12/1, bit below form fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft) 28 days ago. Worth noting if the market speaks in his favour returned to the level. Hit with a ban when tenderly-handled fourth here; shaped well over hurdles at Listowel. |

2nd (10) (7/1 -17%) Fair Damsel |
7/1(-17%) | (10) Fair Damsel 7/1, Offered more than previously in this sphere when runner-up at Thurles (12.5f, soft) 12 months ago. Seen only twice since, shaping better than distance beaten suggests over hurdles at Tramore (16.8f) in June. Market confidence behind her would look signficant. Ridden by Keane when second at Thurles just over a year ago; fit from charity races. |

3rd (15) (11/1 -29%) Tortured Soul |
11/1(-29%) | (15) Tortured Soul 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fourth of 20 in handicap at Navan (10f, soft, 22/1) 12 days ago, good headway 2f out and running on. Remains less exposed than most and longer trip may unlock a little more progress. Appreciated step up to 1m2f when fourth of 20 at Navan; chance if handling softer ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (16/1 -33%) Inchiquin Maid |
16/1(-33%) | (1) Inchiquin Maid 16/1, Maiden who again ran well when fourth in big-field Tipperary handicap (12.5f) 2 starts back. Seemed unsuited by step up in trip when eleventh of 13 in handicap at Listowel (14.2f) since and feasible to expect a better showing here. Fourth over 1m4f (yielding) at Tipperary and 1m6f was too far on bad ground at Listowel. |

5th (2) (8/1 -7%) Paradise Lost |
8/1(-7%) | (2) Paradise Lost 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Good fifth of 19 in handicap at Navan (13f, heavy, 8/1) in April, headway 2f out and plugging on. No forlorn hope eased in trip. Decent juvenile hurdler was fifth in 1m5f Navan handicap in April; six months off. |

33/1(-50%) | (3) Ricky Bobby 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden on Flat. 150/1, first run since leaving Brendan Maurice Walsh when seventeenth of 19 in maiden at the Curragh (10f, soft) 23 days ago. 6/1(-33%) | (4) Walnut Beach 6/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs but comes here in good order, good second of 12 in handicap at Thurles (12.5f) 11 days ago. Entitled to be bang there again with rider again taking off handy 7 lb. Twice runner-up over 2m and over 1m4f at Thurles last time; should be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (9/4 +55%) Bright N Shine |
9/4(+55%) | (8) Bright N Shine 9/4, 5/1, creditable second of 12 in handicap at Tramore (12f, good) 33 days ago, ridden over 2f out and keeping on. First run for yard after leaving P. F. McEnery and expected to give another good account for all his mark is creeping up. Runner-up three times this year over similar trips; Lee takes over for yard debut. |

9th (9) (14/1 -40%) Status Green |
14/1(-40%) | (9) Status Green 14/1, Sixth of 12 in handicap (8/1) at Killarney (8.1f, heavy) 16 days ago, ridden 2f out and weakening. Significantly back up in trip. Made the frame over 1m/1m1f in July but not as good since including over this trip. |

10th (7) (40/1 -264%) Nusra |
40/1(-264%) | (7) Nusra 40/1, One win from 24 Flat runs. 5/1, didn't need to improve to win 4-runner handicap at Ffos Las (12f, soft) 61 days ago, always holding on. Not an obvious follow up candidate here, however. Got her head in front when winning four-runner 1m4f contest at Ffos Las; handles soft. |

11th (12) (18/1 +18%) Edge Of My Seat |
18/1(+18%) | (12) Edge Of My Seat 18/1, Bit below form seventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Navan (15.6f, good to soft, 5/1) 30 days ago, finding less than looked likely. Others rate stronger returned to the level. Twice second in maiden hurdles; made the frame in Flat handicaps over shorter last year. |

12th (16) (14/1 -27%) Tasmanian Girl |
14/1(-27%) | (16) Tasmanian Girl 14/1, Respectable fourth of 20 in handicap at Navan (10f, soft, 16/1) 12 days ago, switched 2f out and running on. Remains a maiden but she looks up to taking advantage of this basement mark at some point back up in trip.. Been running nice races off similar marks; beaten less than 3l when fifth over this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (100/1 -52%) Stabila |
100/1(-52%) | (13) Stabila 100/1, Seventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Roscommon (15.9f, soft, 200/1) 21 days ago. Poor on last Flat outing. Moderate form Flat and hurdles, including twice last month after long layoff. |

14th (5) (40/1 -150%) Roman Moon |
40/1(-150%) | (5) Roman Moon 40/1, Fair filly. 33/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, respectable fifth of 9 in maiden at this course (9.4f, good) 61 days ago. Up in trip. Well held so far for this yard and has been weak finisher over shorter trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (14) (25/1 -14%) Ballyvohane |
25/1(-14%) | (14) Ballyvohane 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 8/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap at Sligo (10.5f, good to soft) 68 days ago. Needs to show more before becoming of interest. Top yard but gelding has shown modest form including on handicap debut at Sligo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (11) (100/1 -25%) Ben Alexander |
100/1(-25%) | (11) Ben Alexander 100/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. Fifteenth of 17 in handicap at Navan (14f, good to soft, 80/1) 46 days ago. Good deal to prove with blinkers/tongue tie refitted. Modest maiden missed all of last year and showed little in two starts in August. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
FAIR DAMSEL may be able to strike here back in handicap company. It can be dangerous to take the form of charity races too literally but she did show her well-being when beating some higher-rated rivals at the Curragh just over three weeks ago and the Dragon Pulse filly looks on a nice mark. Colin Keane is a positive booking, while Walnut Beach has been knocking on the door and certainly wouldn't be winning out of turn. He looks an obvious danger. Bright N Shine is another who has been hitting the crossbar recently and has to be on the shortlist.
WALNUT BEACH again ran with credit with the blinkers enlisted when runner-up at Thurles 11 days ago and a repeat should see him firmly in the mix once more. Bright N Shine and Inchiquin Maid are a couple of others to consider, with Fair Damsel another to keep an eye on back from a break.
Down at the bottom of the weights and after plenty of creditable efforts including over this trip, TASMANIAN GIRL can get a turn.
Ths is the racecard key.
