1st (2) (5.5/1 +15%) Alcazan |
5.5/1(+15%) | (2) Alcazan 5.5/1, C&D winner off 2 lb lower last September and good start to this year when third at Kempton in January. Below par both starts since returning from a break, though, and she now has a bit to prove. C&D winner last September off 2lb lower; quiet in two turf runs this summer; could revive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (1.75/1 +56%) Brazen Idol |
1.75/1(+56%) | (5) Brazen Idol 1.75/1, Did well for Simon Pearce in 2022, winning 4 times, and has made the frame on each of his 3 starts for John Butler since returning to action in June. No reason to believe that he won't be on the premises once more. Progressive sprinter; caught the eye at Nottingham latest; still has more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (25/1 +24%) Impeach |
25/1(+24%) | (1) Impeach 25/1, Three-time AW winner but 0-7 on turf and has run poorly the last twice following tardy starts. Down to a good mark but needs to bounce back in a major way starting out for new connections here. Three AW wins for former yard; out of sorts when last seen; down in grade for stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (4.5/1 -176%) Never This Way |
4.5/1(-176%) | (4) Never This Way 4.5/1, Bred to be useful and, having shown promise in a trio of novice events, he predictably took a step forward when nailed in the shadow of the post on handicap debut Chelmsford (6f). In good hands and should make a bold bid to go one better. Close second on handicap debut last month but the form hasn't been boosted; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (25/1 -178%) Run Cmc |
25/1(-178%) | (7) Run Cmc 25/1, Yet to add to his maiden success at Musselburgh last summer but went close in a 7f Wetherby handicap 3 starts back. Not in the same form since (tried in blinkers last time) and hopes pinned on the change of headgear/scenery (debut for new yard) sparking a return to form here. Return to 6f could help on stable debut but others are more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (16/1 -33%) Jack's Point |
16/1(-33%) | (3) Jack's Point 16/1, Has struggled for form this year, again not showing any sign that he'll take advantage of his much-reduced mark in a change of headgear at Lingfield last time. Yet to get going for this yard and opposable despite his drop down the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (2.25/1 +18%) Beau Jardine |
2.25/1(+18%) | (6) Beau Jardine 2.25/1, Rather chequered profile but looked better than ever in first-time blinkers when readily landing a 6f Salisbury handicap (soft) last month. Good second over the same C&D (good) off 8 lb higher 2 weeks later and, though up another 3 lb, he is a big player. Back in form the last twice and he should give it another good go despite the revised mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Beau Jardine has shown improved form since reverting to sprint trips last month, winning at Salisbury before filling the runner-up spot at the same venue next time. He merits consideration, along with the consistent Brazen Idol, but preference is for NEVER THIS WAY. William Haggas' colt was narrowly denied on his handicap debut at Chelmsford, but the unexposed son of No Nay Never can go one better with improvement on the cards.
Unexposed 3-y-o NEVER THIS WAY looks the one to be on following a near miss on his handicap debut at Chelmsford last month. He's been nudged up just 1 lb for that and almost certainly has more to offer. Beau Jardine has responded mightily well to the addition of blinkers the last twice and looks sure to be involved, as does Brazen Idol, who hasn't done much wrong in his 3 starts this season and remains on a fair mark.

1st (4) (3.5/1 -218%) Heartfullofstars |
3.5/1(-218%) | (4) Heartfullofstars 3.5/1, Posted fair form when second of 12 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) on debut 13 days ago. Likely to improve and holds leading claims. Promising 2nd at Newmarket 13 days ago, offering considerable promise for 1m; good claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1.5/1 +50%) Francophone |
1.5/1(+50%) | (1) Francophone 1.5/1, Promising sort who won at first time of asking in 7-runner minor event at Ayr (7.2f, good) 18 days ago. Likely capable of better yet. Green but won decisively at Ayr 17 days ago (7f, good to soft); bred for 1m+; promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 +13%) Our Golden One |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Our Golden One 14/1, Foaled March 26. Golden Horn filly. Half-sister to several winners, including smart 1m-1¼m winner Dark Orchid and useful 7f-1m winner Orchid Star. Worth a check in market on debut. Half-sister to four winners out of a well-related winning mare; worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (3.5/1 +30%) Kitty Furnival |
3.5/1(+30%) | (5) Kitty Furnival 3.5/1, Foaled February 23. €180,000 yearling, Zarak filly. Half-sister to 6.5f winner Fusible. Dam 10.5f winner. Newcomers from yard often fancied. 180,000euros yearling; half-sister to a winner in France out of a useful mare; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +23%) Frankelian |
5/1(+23%) | (3) Frankelian 5/1, Foaled April 2. Frankel filly. Closely related to 1¼m winner Circuit Breaker. One to note on debut. Closely related to a fair 1m2f winner from a good family; yard going great guns; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (22/1 -57%) Demanding Lilley |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Demanding Lilley 22/1, Foaled May 4. Due Diligence filly. Dam, maiden (stayed 1½m) on Flat, winning hurdler/chaser. May be a longer-term prospect. Dam a winning jumper; yard's newcomers usually better for a run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HEARTFULLOFSTARS shaped with plenty of encouragement when keeping on for second on her debut at Newmarket recently and the step up in trip looks to be right move as she looks to get off off the mark. A comfortable debut winner at Ayr, despite a slow start, Francophone may find life tougher under a 6lb penalty, while Frankelian looks to be the pick of the newcomers.
This can go to HEARTFULLOFSTARS, who showed plenty of ability on her recent Newmarket debut and should have learnt plenty from that experience. Ayr-winner Francophone looks the obvious danger.

1st (1) (3.5/1 +0%) Zain Nights |
3.5/1(+0%) | (1) Zain Nights 3.5/1, Winner of a Newbury handicap over 1½m last July and has subsequently made the frame in all 4 starts at around 2m. Runner-up at Kempton last time, which was his best effort of this season so far, and should looks sure to give another good account for his in-form yard.
2nd (2) (4.5/1 -29%) Aggagio |
4.5/1(-29%) | (2) Aggagio 4.5/1, Four-time course winner who scored over hurdles during the spring before finishing second over 1¾m here on his seasonal reappearance. Stamina possibly stretched in a 20.4f handicap at the big meeting here 3 weeks ago and shouldn't be far away, particularly if the ground is on the slow side.
3rd (5) (1.75/1 +30%) Flower Of Dubai |
1.75/1(+30%) | (5) Flower Of Dubai 1.75/1, Lightly-raced filly who has improved since switched to handicaps, following narrow Wolverhampton success with creditable efforts in defeat at Haydock and Newbury (both at around 1¾m). Shapes as though trip will be within range and, armed with a handy weight-for-age allowance, she needs considering.
4th (4) (3.5/1 +0%) Motazzen |
3.5/1(+0%) | (4) Motazzen 3.5/1, French import who has yet to strike for present connections but hasn't done a great deal wrong this year, again performing well at this venue when fourth of 17 over a marathon trip at the big meeting 3 weeks ago. Likely to give another good account.
5th (3) (10/1 -150%) State Legend |
10/1(-150%) | (3) State Legend 10/1, Successful 3 times at up to 1½m for James Ferguson in 2022. Opened account for present yard in decisive fashion at Sandown (1¾m, good to soft) last month and, still feasibly treated up 4 lb, he should be bang there if his stamina holds out now upped to 2m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
ZAIN NIGHTS has created the impression that staying is his forte and, on the back of a near miss at Kempton, he strongly appeals on his return to these familiar surroundings. Both Motazzen and Aggagio have finished a short way behind the selection in recent starts and are taken seriously in their respective bids to turn the form around. Sandown winner State Legend is respected despite a 4lb higher mark, while Flower Of Dubai needs to prove her stamina but is notable given her weight-for-age allowance.
Very competitive, despite the small field, with all five holding pretty strong claims. Preference is for ZAIN NIGHTS, who appears to be versatile ground-wise and turned in his best effort of the season so far when finding just one too strong at Kempton last time. State Legend will be a big threat if coping with this step up in trip, while the 3-y-o filly Flower of Dubai and Aggagio and Motazzen, both of whom performed with credit at the big meeting here, can all be expected to get involved.

1st (2) (8.5/1 -6%) Liberalist |
8.5/1(-6%) | (2) Liberalist 8.5/1, Placed both starts as a juvenile and found some improvement to make a winning return in a Thirsk maiden (7f, soft) in April. Not scaled same heights either start since though, left behind under 2f out when fifth of 6 in handicap at Leicester 97f) last month. Not obviously well handicapped and 1m needs to give her a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3.33/1 +26%) Princess Niyla |
3.33/1(+26%) | (3) Princess Niyla 3.33/1, Confirmed debut promise at second attempt when making winning return from 7 months off in a Chester novice (7.6f) in July. Only eighth of 11 in handicap back at that venue 6 weeks ago but it remains early days with her. Chester win (7.5f, good) on return; below form on soft on h'cap debut; needs career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 -100%) Midsummer Music |
7/1(-100%) | (4) Midsummer Music 7/1, Has steadily gone the right way in handful of starts to date, best effort yet when 1 length third of 7 in handicap at Bath (1m) 44 days ago, no extra final 50 yds. Further progress not ruled out. Getting better with experience and should still have more to give; conditions should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2.25/1 +18%) Gone |
2.25/1(+18%) | (5) Gone 2.25/1, Already a 4-time winner this year and she quickly dispelled a lesser effort when second at Newmarket (1m) 6 days ago, no match for winner but nicely clear of the remainder. Sound claims again operating from same mark. Four wins this year and ran well at Newmarket six days ago; could enjoy tactical advantage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2/1 -6%) American Belle |
2/1(-6%) | (1) American Belle 2/1, Landed an AW novice (7f) in May and followed up on handicap debut at Doncaster (7f) a month later. Not in same form at Newmarket on penultimate start but quickly back on track when runner-up at Leicester (7f) 30 days ago (Liberalist placed fifth). One to consider upped to 1m. Two 7f wins this season; step up to 1m needs to spark extra but that's quite possible. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
AMERICAN BELLE was a clear second over 7f at Leicester on her latest outing and she can go one better. James Fanshawe's filly shaped as if this step up to 1m would suit on that occasion and another bold bid can be expected off the same mark. Gone is likely to pose the biggest threat to the selection after a decent run when second over 1m at Newmarket last Saturday, while Midsummer Music heads the remainder.
GONE is enjoying a highly productive season, gaining her fourth success at Bath in June. Largely competitive from this sort of mark since, she ran well when runner-up at Newmarket 6 days ago and she looks sure to go well again. American Belle may emerge as the chief threat tackling 1m for the first time, with Midsummer Music also in the mix.

1st (3) (0.91/1 -36%) Queen Emma |
0.91/1(-36%) | (3) Queen Emma 0.91/1, Improving Saxon Warrior filly who got off the mark in 11-runner minor event at Lingfield (12f, AW) 38 days ago. Looks to have a fair bit more to offer now going into handicaps. Big shout. Improved with each start, off the mark at Lingfield on first crack at this trip; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 +20%) Madame Ambassador |
4/1(+20%) | (1) Madame Ambassador 4/1, Fairly useful filly who won a pair of 1½m Newmarket handicaps last season. Only eighth of 10 to Sweet Memories in listed race there (12f, soft) 20 days ago and probably vulnerable again. Struggling in Listed races this season; major player back in these calmer waters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2.5/1 +38%) Lunar Bird |
2.5/1(+38%) | (4) Lunar Bird 2.5/1, Resumed with 10f win in Ripon novice in April but only fifth of 7 in minor event at Doncaster (11.9f, soft) 13 weeks later. May still do better on her handicap debut. Considered. 1m2f winner on reappearance; less good latest; makes handicap debut off a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -54%) One Morning |
10/1(-54%) | (2) One Morning 10/1, Low-mileage filly who won 7f maiden at Newmarket last spring. Creditable reappearance fourth at Ascot (1m) but she has been well below par both runs since, tried in a tongue strap back at Ascot on latter occasion. Has it to prove now stepped up markedly in trip. 7f maiden win as 3yo; disappointed twice since promising return; new territory trip-wise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
QUEEN EMMA appeared to relish a step up in trip when winning at Lingfield last month. Pitched into handicap company for the first time, she looks certain to progress further and the daughter of Saxon Warrior can double her tally. Fellow handicap debutant Lunar Bird appeals as a leading contender in receipt of weight all round, while Madame Ambassador, who drops from Listed company, heads the remainder.
QUEEN EMMA's form is on an upward curve so William Haggas' Saxon Warrior filly is strongly fancied to make a winning start to life in handicaps. All three of her rivals arrive with questions to answer but fellow handicap debutante Lunar Bird could emerge as second best ahead of Madame Ambassador.

(6) (1.88/1 +25%)1.88/1(+25%) | (6) Buddy's Beauty 1.88/1, Won back-to-back handicaps over this trip in June and lost little in defeat when close second of 9 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, good to soft, 6/5) 10 days ago. Big player off same mark here.
Thismydream |
(4) (9/1 +36%)9/1(+36%) | (4) Thismydream 9/1, Finished runner-up on several occasions this year but remains with just 1 win from 32 starts and arrives on back of below-par effort at Yarmouth.
1st (1) (7.5/1 +32%) Dream By Day |
7.5/1(+32%) | (1) Dream By Day 7.5/1, Returned to form when close second at Lingfield last month but isn't the most consistent and was always behind after a slow start at Nottingham latest. Others preferred.
2nd (3) (6.5/1 -86%) Exquisitely |
6.5/1(-86%) | (3) Exquisitely 6.5/1, Opened account at seventh attempt, on debut for new yard, when landing 4-runner handicap at Ffos Las (5f, heavy, 16/1) 17 days ago, comfortably. This is more competitive but she remains fairly treated.
2nd (9) (9/1 +10%) Imperiousity |
9/1(+10%) | (9) Imperiousity 9/1, Off the mark at LIngfield (5f, AW) in May but been a mixed bag since and no more than respectable fourth at same venue (5f, good to firm, 5/1) 4 days ago. Blinkers back on.
4th (2) (6/1 -20%) Mary Of Modena |
6/1(-20%) | (2) Mary Of Modena 6/1, Returned to form when narrowly taking 5-runner handicap at Newmarket (5f, soft) 20 days ago. 3 lb higher now but can't be ruled out.
5th (8) (11/1 +31%) Wiley Post |
11/1(+31%) | (8) Wiley Post 11/1, Ran with credit at Windsor in May but proved disappointing since and makes limited appeal despite a tumbling mark.
6th (5) (5.5/1 -22%) Just That Lord |
5.5/1(-22%) | (5) Just That Lord 5.5/1, Took advantage of a lenient mark (on return from 11-month absence) when narrowly making a winning debut for new connections at Lingfield (5f, firm, 9/1) 44 days ago. Remains to be seen if she can back that up, though.
7th (7) (40/1 -186%) Daley T |
40/1(-186%) | (7) Daley T 40/1, Seven-race maiden for David & Nicola Barron and doesn't look especially well treated on debut for new yard here. Others more appealing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Buddy's Beauty almost defied a 10lb rise in the ratings when held by a short head at Nottingham last Tuesday and is sure to prove popular racing off the same mark. However, EXQUISITELY proved a different proposition on her first start for new connections at Ffos Las earlier in the month and won with enough in hand to suggest that she could defy a 6lb rise in the handicap. Last-time-out winner Just That Lord is a similar type and can't be discounted either.
BUDDY'S BEAUTY arrives in fine fettle and looked a shade unfortunate not to land the hat-trick at Nottingham earlier this month. She can return to winning ways here. Exquisitely and Mary of Modena should also go well.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
