1st (1) (1/2 -10%) For Pleasure |
1/2(-10%) | (1) For Pleasure 1/2, Free-going front runner who looked rejuvenated right away refitted with a tongue tie (also wore red hood in paddock) on his first outing for new yard when scoring easily at Fakenham (2m) last week. Grade 2 winner in his younger days and could be hard to catch under a penalty. Easy winner at Fakenham last week on debut for new yard; should follow up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 +40%) Nashville Nipper |
5/1(+40%) | (3) Nashville Nipper 5/1, Gained reward for good efforts when opening account in 2m Plumpton handicap hurdle in January 2022 from one now rated 133. Fine effort at Huntingdon next time and could have more to offer if ready to go after long absence. Badly lacks recent match practice and takes on two last-time-out scorers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 -48%) Sambezi |
3/1(-48%) | (2) Sambezi 3/1, In fine form when last seen in May, resuming winning ways with a dominant display in 20f Worcester handicap hurdle. That form is flimsy and now has a career-high mark but he has also figures of 121 over the Fontwell hurdles and could be set for a big run if ready to roll. 2-3 at Fontwell; scored easily at Worcester when last seen; serious player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SAMBEZI hosed up by 17 lengths in a class 4 event when last seen in May at Worcester and he now makes his return to action for the Oliver Signy stable. The son of Rajsaman only has two rivals to contend with and should have no issues with this shorter trip, so he is difficult to oppose. For Pleasure holds stronger credentials than Nashville Nipper after he bolted up by 15 lengths at Fakenham last week and he can give the selection a lot to think about.
FOR PLEASURE came clear readily for his new yard at Fakenham last week and looks good for the follow up under a penalty given he's been rated much higher. Sambezi has form figures of 121 over the Fontwell hurdles and is feared most on his first start for 7 months.
Front-running FOR PLEASURE looks well capable of following up his Fakenham win. Sambezi is second choice.

1st (2) (5/4 +69%) Naturally High |
5/4(+69%) | (2) Naturally High 5/4, No show since winning twice upon switch to handicaps in autumn 2021 (landed huge gamble at Lingfield first time up). Dropped another 5 lb since his recent return at Lingfield. A market move would be notable. 1-1 in this grade; defied an 8lb higher mark at Sandown two years ago; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (15/2 -25%) Hobb's Delight |
15/2(-25%) | (5) Hobb's Delight 15/2, Yet to build on the promise of his hurdling debut, well held in novice at Chepstow (19.4f, soft) 8 weeks ago. More is required now going into handicaps but that's possible. May start to progress now handicapping; bred to do better; interesting off mark of just 83. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (25/1 -108%) Joyful Kit |
25/1(-108%) | (8) Joyful Kit 25/1, Long-standing maiden has been finding jumping an issue over fences (beaten in match latest). Remains tricky to fancy on the balance of her form back hurdling. Well handicapped on best efforts but is hard to support confidently, with record 0-26. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (14/1 -27%) Callin Baton Rouge |
14/1(-27%) | (4) Callin Baton Rouge 14/1, Some encouragement when third on hurdling debut at Cartmel (17.2f) in May but little impact since, including in first-time cheekpieces (off now) at Sedgefield 7 weeks ago. Now 0-7 but wind surgery since latest start is a possible source of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 -9%) Cochise |
12/1(-9%) | (7) Cochise 12/1, Fair Flat winner who wasn't seen to best effect on his belated return to hurdling at Plumpton (25f) 5 weeks ago, still to be asked for his effort when denied a clear run. Down markedly in trip and tongue tie goes on. Drops back in trip with tongue-tie applied; still looks well treated judged on Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (5/1 -100%) Chantilly Rose |
5/1(-100%) | (6) Chantilly Rose 5/1, Showed ability when third in a Southwell bumper on debut for Peter Niven. Little impact over hurdles for new connections but no surprise to see her do much better now handicapping up in trip. Open to improvement now qualified for handicaps; opening mark of 79 could prove lenient. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (18/1 +10%) African Sun |
18/1(+10%) | (9) African Sun 18/1, Poor handicap hurdler easily passed over in this company. Career record is just 1-31 and his inconsistency is another negative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (66/1 -371%) Mister Mose |
66/1(-371%) | (1) Mister Mose 66/1, Made frame both starts in Irish points. Modest form over hurdles in good races at Ascot on first 2 starts for Paul Henderson in autumn 2022. Probably needed last month's return at Lingfield for new yard and could do better now handicapping. Well beaten on reappearance but may improve now handicapping at a modest level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (7/2 -17%) King Otis |
7/2(-17%) | (3) King Otis 7/2, Landed a gamble starting out for new yard in 2m Plumpton handicap hurdle (good to soft) in October. Did too much too soon and shaped as if in form when fourth at Fakenham since and he could feature back up in trip. Won at Plumpton on debut for new yard but disappointing in two runs since; inconsistent. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NATURALLY HIGH was well held in sixth in a class 4 event at Lingfield on his return from a 228-day break recently but the handicapper may have been kind to drop him 5lb for that display. The eight-year-old now takes a drop in grade and could be ready to strike. The main danger might be Cochise, who may have found 3m1f too far at Plumpton last time and could be seen in a better light as he now drops in distance. King Otis completes the shortlist.
NATURALLY HIGH hasn't shown much for a while but he now drops markedly in grade from a much-reduced mark for Gary Moore and a revival wouldn't come as a surprise. Chantilly Rose is potentially very interesting now going handicapping up in trip and King Otis can also go well again.
Off a very handy mark back in this grade, NATURALLY HIGH may be the answer. Hobb's Delight is second choice.

1st (1) (5/2 +9%) The Good Doctor |
5/2(+9%) | (1) The Good Doctor 5/2, Expensive purchase (€140,000) having won a 4-y-o handicap hurdle in France in May and encouraging enough start to life with new yard at Lingfield last month. Can build on that and set to go well. Won in France in May and made a quite promising British debut last month; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (9/2 +25%) Thank You Ma'am |
9/2(+25%) | (9) Thank You Ma'am 9/2, Came on considerably for his first effort over hurdles when third in 2m Kempton novice 4 weeks ago, running to a fair level with that behind him. That form could prove decent and he can do better again (his dam was a 150-rated chaser). Belied triple-digit odds when third at Kempton last month and has each-way claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (7/2 -154%) Tea And Chats |
7/2(-154%) | (8) Tea And Chats 7/2, From a good jumps family and showed plenty in his 2 runs over hurdles at Plumpton this time last year. More to come if all is well and demands plenty of respect down in trip on return. Not seen since last December but went close on hurdle debut and looks a big player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 +55%) Chancellorstown |
9/1(+55%) | (4) Chancellorstown 9/1, €10,000 half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser You Say Nothing. Placed on 2 of 3 starts in Irish points, including latest (Nov 2022). Placed in two of three Irish points in 2022; makes rules debut after 13-month absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7/1 -27%) Just One Surf |
7/1(-27%) | (6) Just One Surf 7/1, £60,000 buy, placed both starts in Irish points. Had a wind op and shaped well enough in Market Rasen bumper last month. Plenty of stamina in his pedigree and can do better now jumping, but might need more time. Placed in Irish points and in Market Rasen bumper on rules debut; makes hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (5/1 +0%) Balhambar |
5/1(+0%) | (2) Balhambar 5/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (probably stays 2m), creditable effort last time. Possesses the raw ability to be a big factor now hurdling. Fairly useful Flat-racer who looks an interesting candidate for hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (18/1 +28%) Chatty Chich |
18/1(+28%) | (10) Chatty Chich 18/1, Presenting half-sister to yard's very smart chaser Le Milos. Fair in bumpers but well beaten on hurdles debut at Taunton 12 days ago and turned out quickly. Placed in Ludlow bumper in May but never on terms when 100-1 for recent hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (66/1 +0%) Loverdose |
66/1(+0%) | (7) Loverdose 66/1, Won over 2m on the Flat in France in spring 2022 but well beaten in 2 novices hurdles starting out for this yard after long absence. Flat winner in France in 2022 but has struggled on first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (66/1 -100%) Step It Out Goldie |
66/1(-100%) | (11) Step It Out Goldie 66/1, Showed ability in Irish bumper earlier this year but well held in 2 novice hurdles here in recent months. Placed in Cork bumper in March but hasn't shown much in novice hurdles here this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (66/1 +18%) Dreadpoetssociety |
66/1(+18%) | (5) Dreadpoetssociety 66/1, Little impact in bumpers earlier this year and suspect he'll prove a stayer over jumps for new yard. Well beaten in two bumpers for Warren Greatrex in the spring; now with new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (150/1 -88%) Barbarosa |
150/1(-88%) | (3) Barbarosa 150/1, Fair handicapper at best on Flat (had a spell in Poland, won twice). No show in 2m Kempton novice hurdle (200/1) on belated return last month. Struggled when 200-1 for last month's stable/hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Good Doctor sets the standard in this contest with a rating of 113 and he should get into contention. However, preference is for THANK YOU MA'AM, who was sent off at huge odds when finishing a fair third at Kempton last month and he could have plenty more to offer. Just One Surf warrants a market check on his debut over hurdles.
THE GOOD DOCTOR won a fair handicap over this trip in France and made an encouraging start for his new yard at Lingfield 4 weeks ago. He can build on that and come out on top under a penalty. Tea And Chats showed plenty in two races over hurdles at Plumpton this time last year and is a big player if ready to roll dropped in trip. Thank You Ma'am and Balhambar complete the shortlist.
French handicap winner THE GOOD DOCTOR arguably ran better than the bare result suggests when fourth on last month's British debut.

1st (6) (10/3 +58%) Gorcombe Moonshine |
10/3(+58%) | (6) Gorcombe Moonshine 10/3, Poor maiden hurdler but showed he can be competitive from his lowly mark when placed at Exeter and Taunton in the spring. Switches to fences back from 7 months off. Worth a look. Comfortably held from this mark on his last two starts last season; each-way claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (13/2 +41%) Valirann Gold |
13/2(+41%) | (5) Valirann Gold 13/2, Much improved when scoring over 2m at Chepstow in January but hasn't reproduced that level of form subsequently. Unable to reach the form of his January 2m chase win since; others preferred.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (17/2 +23%) Clondaw Robin |
17/2(+23%) | (8) Clondaw Robin 17/2, Just 1 win to his name (in handicap hurdle here 4 years ago) and turned in best effort for some time back under more positive tactics when second in 2m Lingfield novice handicap chase a fortnight ago. Could figure. Creditable effort at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) latest; 7lb out of the handicap.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3/1 +70%) Hector Jaguen |
3/1(+70%) | (2) Hector Jaguen 3/1, Maiden hurdler who came good at the fourth attempt over fences in C&D handicap in April. Little impact since, including on return at Lingfield 6 weeks ago, but no surprise to see a better showing in re-fitted headgear back here. Well treated on form of C&D win; return to this grade and this track could see a revival.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (4/1 +0%) Ballymagee |
4/1(+0%) | (4) Ballymagee 4/1, Just modest form at best, let down by jumping over fences the last twice. Still early days with this yard at least and suspect he could prove competitive off this sort of mark at some stage. Cheekpieces are tried. 2lb drop doesn't obviously look the key to success; cheekpieces now added to tongue-tie.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (5/1 -50%) Dusky Days |
5/1(-50%) | (3) Dusky Days 5/1, Bumper winner who was runner-up in a Stratford handicap hurdle in April and he showed something like that when third and not beaten far on chase debut at Hereford on return last month. That form is looking sound enough and he can go well. Step up in trip positive and, if that helps draw further improvement, he's a big player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (14/1 +36%) Broadoak |
14/1(+36%) | (7) Broadoak 14/1, Runner-up at Wincanton in March but pulled up on his last 2 outings. Needs to have been revived by a 6-month break. Form tailed off in the spring; bit to prove, including on soft; 5lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Winning pointer SPEAKER THOMAS posted a respectable second in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster last month. The six-year-old can improve for the switch to fences and he could make light work of an opening mark of 102. Dusky Days finished third behind a subsequent winner on his chase bow at Hereford in November and Jamie Snowden's inmate is feared most, ahead of Ballymagee.
SPEAKER THOMAS remains the type to do better over fences and can build on an encouraging start for Ben Pauling and come out on top. Dusky Days and Hector Jaguen are a couple of the other likely players.
The suggestion is DUSKY DAYS, who showed promise on his chase debut and can build on that, with this longer trip looking positive.

1st (1) (3/1 +63%) Bridge |
3/1(+63%) | (1) Bridge 3/1, Modest maiden on the Flat for Brian Meehan and comfortably held all 3 starts over hurdles. Yet to make the frame from three starts over hurdles but he is not ruled out.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/4 +29%) Ellerton |
5/4(+29%) | (2) Ellerton 5/4, Fairly useful Flat on the Flat in France for Tim Donworth. Well beaten pitched into a Cheltenham Grade 2 on his hurdle debut but more like it when third over C&D in the mud a fortnight ago (plugged on). Better ground will suit and he can progress further. 13l third over C&D (heavy) recently; if settling, he is one of the more likely winners.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (6/1 -50%) Swiss Money |
6/1(-50%) | (6) Swiss Money 6/1, Fairly useful dual winner on the Flat in France. Has been sent off favourite for both starts over hurdles here but has put in a couple of underwhelming displays, folding tamely in tongue tie at Sedgefield. Back from another break now and interesting to see if the market support arrives again. Disappointed when favourite at Stratford and Sedgefield; plenty to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (10/3 -33%) El Pro |
10/3(-33%) | (3) El Pro 10/3, Fair maiden on the Flat in Germany. Won't want for stamina on hurdles debut for good yard and he's one to note starting out in a very winnable contest. Flat form is not quite as strong as some in this field but he is not ruled out.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (100/1 -100%) Youm Dejraan |
100/1(-100%) | (7) Youm Dejraan 100/1, 300/1, tailed off in Market Rasen event on debut 3 weeks ago. 300-1 on debut at Market Rasen recently when he was very green and beaten a long way.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ELLERTON proved far more competitive on the drop in grade when finishing third over C&D recently and a similar level of performance may suffice. El Pro was a useful performer on the Flat and Jennie Candlish's charge is a viable alternative on his NH debut. Bridge and Makanao are both making their fourth appearances in this sphere and that experience could come in handy.
ELLERTON wasn't disgraced faced with a stern test in the mud here a fortnight ago and can open his account in this sphere now with more improvement likely. Fair German Flat performer El Pro is interesting starting out for Jennie Candlish, while Bridge is probably capable of better.
This weak contest can be taken by ELLERTON, who showed promise on the Flat in France and was just a bit to free over C&D last time.

1st (6) (2/1 -54%) Captain Claude |
2/1(-54%) | (6) Captain Claude 2/1, Slow-burner over hurdles but made a winning debut over fences in 21.6f handicap here last month (second victory at Fontwell), looking all about stamina. Step up in trip will suit and he could take the beating. Stayed well over hurdles; can improve upon his 2m5f winning chase debut here (heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 +20%) Pilot Show |
2/1(+20%) | (2) Pilot Show 2/1, Point winner who made a successful chase debut in handicap at Catterick (25.3f) last December and has returned in good form, again placed despite errors at Hereford last time, finishing clear with another unexposed sort. Leading claims. Won over 3m1f on chase debut; 2nd to an improved one latest; return to soft can suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (4/1 -33%) Edison Kent |
4/1(-33%) | (4) Edison Kent 4/1, Finally got off the mark for the yard returned to hurdling after wind op in 23.4f Fakenham handicap in the mud last week, nothing hanging around for long enough to force him into a battle. Still fairly treated back chasing but not an obvious type for the follow up. Chase form needs improvement but he had wind op before wide-margin 2m7f hurdle win latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (10/1 -11%) Game Socks |
10/1(-11%) | (3) Game Socks 10/1, Dual winner over hurdles (including here) who got off the mark at third attempt in this sphere in 6-runner handicap at Worcester (23f, good to soft) in June 2022. Shaped as if needing the run after 17 months off at Doncaster and of interest if building on that. Won off this mark over hurdles (3m2f) and fences (2m7f); remote 4th latest after absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (13/2 +46%) Sandy Brook |
13/2(+46%) | (5) Sandy Brook 13/2, Fair bumper winner who ran to a similar level without success over hurdles during 2021/22 campaign. Well held in 2 runs over fences in recent weeks but could yet do better and cheekpieces go on now. Nearly two years off before this season; hard to enthuse about at present; first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (18/1 -13%) Behind The Curtain |
18/1(-13%) | (1) Behind The Curtain 18/1, Fair maiden hurdler in 2020 for Philip Rothwell. Left that yard for €20,000 and suffered an early exit after 3 years off at Exeter 5 weeks ago. Won bumper in Ireland; 0-11 over hurdles; fell first on chase debut (25-1) in this grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Wind surgery has been the making of EDISON KENT, judging by his demolition job over hurdles at Fakenham last week, and James Owen turns him out again quickly in an attempt to strike while the iron is hot. His four previous attempts at the larger obstacles have hardly set the world alight, but he must be stuck with off the same mark. Captain Claude made a successful start to his chasing career here and should stay this longer trip. Pilot Show enters the equation too.
CAPTAIN CLAUDE looked all stamina when making a successful debut over fences here last month and this stiffer test is sure to suit Anthony Honeyball's charge. He could take the beating. Pilot Show could be the danger ahead of the quirky Edison Kent.
Pilot Show can go well but CAPTAIN CLAUDE (nap) looks the type to progress over fences and the return to further can suit.

1st (7) (11/2 +8%) Lanspark |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Lanspark 11/2, Dual winner for the Tizzard stable in 2022 and positive enough start for this yard in the spring. Poor both starts more recently at Chepstow, though. Needs a revival. A bit to prove after well below par in his two starts during the autumn.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 +58%) Paricolor |
10/3(+58%) | (5) Paricolor 10/3, Back on a good mark and has run well in hot Cheltenham handicaps the last twice (in front of High Stakes first occasion under this rider). Respected down in class. Not at his best this time around but he is not ruled out each-way.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/2 +50%) High Stakes |
5/2(+50%) | (3) High Stakes 5/2, Point/hurdle winner who returned with a fine effort in big-field 21f Cheltenham handicap hurdle last month. That form is solid and he's a big player off the same mark with trip/ground fine. Returned to hurdles for reappearance latest when a creditable fifth; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/4 -50%) Halondo |
9/4(-50%) | (1) Halondo 9/4, Improved to make a winning handicap debut over 20.5f at Market Rasen in March and probably would have made a successful return at Lingfield 6 weeks ago but for a bad mistake at the last. Raised 3 lb but can go well again if he stays. Good second on latest start despite almost coming down at the last; more to come from him.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/1 -40%) Good News |
7/1(-40%) | (6) Good News 7/1, 4-time course winner who arrives on the back of a creditable second at Stratford (22f, good to soft) in October. Game performer likely to go well back here. Game second Stratford in October when last seen; no surprise to see him go close.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Halondo has progressed well and returned with a solid effort to fill the runner-up berth at Lingfield. He is 3lb higher, though, and the winner has done nothing for the form since, so a chance is taken that the fire still burns bright enough in GOOD NEWS. Lydia Richards' veteran showed more enthusiasm with his back-to-form second at Stratford and he certainly knows his way around this venue. Paricolor has acquitted himself quite well in tough Cheltenham handicaps, finishing just ahead of High Stakes there last month.
HALONDO probably would have won on his return at Lingfield if he'd met the last flight better and he can make amends if he stays the longer trip. High Stakes and Paricolor are respected on the back of good efforts at Cheltenham, while Good News can never be dismissed around here.
Despite almost coming a cropper last time, HALONDO still produced a good effort and he can gain compensation today.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
