1st (2) (4/1 +20%) Imperial B G |
4/1(+20%) | (2) Imperial B G 4/1, Fair bumper winner but he's struggled to match that form over hurdles, off the track since beating only one at Warwick in May. Needs to hit the ground running but yard's record with inmates from a break is a good one. Good second in April; tailed off next time; could run well for yard in good form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (4.5/1 +50%) Stiletto |
4.5/1(+50%) | (7) Stiletto 4.5/1, Modest on the Flat (down the field at Bath in August) but has shown some aptitude for hurdling, fourth in handicap company at Uttoxeter 3 weeks ago (23.3f). Didn't look totally straightforward in the process and this trip isn't sure to suit, Chances on last month's fourth but 0-19 in career and needs to prove himself. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (6.5/1 +35%) Hilltown |
6.5/1(+35%) | (5) Hilltown 6.5/1, Fortunate winner at Plumpton (25f, soft) in April. Fourth place both outings since and not yet exposed on return to action. Won off this mark in April but not at that level in two runs the following month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/1 +29%) Astroman |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Astroman 5/1, Belatedly off the mark (fortunate winner) in maiden hurdle at Stratford in May and followed up under a penalty back in a handicap over C&D. Looked in the grip of the assessor since. Two wins in May and return to good or quicker ground could see him back to his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/4 -13%) San Pedro |
9/4(-13%) | (4) San Pedro 9/4, Aided by first-time cheekpieces when opening his account over hurdles at Lingfield (23f) in February and he went in again over this C&D when last seen in May. Since left Paul Henderson and joined a yard with a really positive record with new recruits. C&D winner when last seen in May; only 3lb higher and has a good shout on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (18/1 -13%) Corrany |
18/1(-13%) | (6) Corrany 18/1, Has struggled over fences lately but a return to hurdles seemed to have sparked a revival when third at Stratford in July. Ran no sort of race over the larger obstacles when last seen in August but slightly more reliable over timber. 1-28 in career and that came over fences; pulled up on latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (8/1 -167%) Global Famenglory |
8/1(-167%) | (1) Global Famenglory 8/1, Maiden but fitted with cheekpieces and found only one too good in 4-runner novice at Warwick in May. Off the track since and tackles a new trip but she's in top hands. Consistent and runner-up five times over hurdles; yet to win and doubts until he does. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -52%) Mawlood |
100/1(-52%) | (8) Mawlood 100/1, Dual hurdles winner in 2021 but little to shout about since, both in this sphere and over fences. Long way out of the weights. Out of form and 13lb out of the weights; up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SAN PEDRO was a C&D winner under similar conditions when last seen in May. Freddie Gordon negates the 3lb rise incurred for that success and if returning in a similar vein of form, he might be hard to beat. Global Famenglory has yet to taste success from nine starts over hurdles, but she boasts a consistent profile and is unlikely to be far away. Hilltown remains capable of better for all that he does have a bit to prove on quick ground.
SAN PEDRO was a winner when last seen in the spring and having since transferred to an excellent stable it would come as no surprise were he to pick up where he left off. Global Famenglory is a threat if her stamina holds out, with Imperial B G another to consider back from a break.
With the ground likely to be in his favour, ASTROMAN could return to his best.

1st (2) (10/11 +34%) Guy |
10/11(+34%) | (2) Guy 10/11, Fairly useful chaser who was in good form over hurdles during the spring, landing the odds in a Ludlow novice (15.8f, good) when last seen in May. Resumes in this sphere on an attractive mark and fact that his yard is in such good form augurs well. Finds winning difficult but goes well fresh and is on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -11%) Fairway Freddy |
10/1(-11%) | (5) Fairway Freddy 10/1, Resumed winning ways off this mark at Stratford (21f) last October and found just one good in a 17f Pumpton handicap in February. Poor effort on final run of last season but could have a part to play if on-song following a 5-month break. Unpredictable but won off this mark a year ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/4 +58%) Master Dancer |
5/4(+58%) | (4) Master Dancer 5/4, Winning chaser in France who made a successful British debut back over hurdles in Stratford maiden last October before finishing a good third in a Cheltenham handicap. No show both starts since but perhaps the return to fences could have a positive effect. Two good hurdle runs last season followed by two poor ones; won chase in France. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 -133%) Defan |
28/1(-133%) | (1) Defan 28/1, Dual winner over fences for Henry De Bromhead in Ireland but no impact in 4 starts this year and probably best watched on debut for new yard. Two wins in Ireland but below best in last year; bought for £10,000 recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
There would be few more deserving than GUY, who has placed in eight of his 14 starts over the larger obstacles. The gelded son of Getaway was able to record a confidence-boosting success over hurdles at Ludlow when last seen, and he is expected to build on that to make a successful return. Valentino Dancer contends on the form of his Newton Abbot victory last month but he was well beaten in a tougher race at Warwick on Thursday. Fairway Freddy is back on his last winning mark and should not be underestimated, while Defan could also have a say.
Given that he goes well fresh and with his yard in terrific form, GUY is the most appealing option. He's only managed to win one of his 14 starts over fences, but his overall record in this sphere is pretty solid and and he's 7 lb lower in the weights compared to when runner-up in a Market Rasen handicap chase on his reappearance last season. Master Dancer is worth a second look on his first chase start on these shores and is second choice ahead of Fairway Freddy.
Having won over hurdles after an absence, MASTER DANCER can do the same over fences.

Doc Mccoy |
(6) (9/4 +18%)9/4(+18%) | (6) Doc Mccoy 9/4, Impressive winner on sole start in points and displayed fairly useful form when placed all 3 outings in bumpers last season. Upped in trip for hurdles debut and that seems sure to suit on pedigree. Three solid hurdle runs last season and capable of making an impact on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (11/4 -22%) Cape Vidal |
11/4(-22%) | (3) Cape Vidal 11/4, Disappointing twice after his successful bumper debut but got his career back on track sent hurdling when second in a Plumpton maiden (20.5, soft) in April. Should improve and has leading claims on return. Bumper winner; second on hurdle debut in April; sets the standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/3 +72%) Baltray |
10/3(+72%) | (1) Baltray 10/3, Offered something to work on when third in a Limerick bumper only outing for D. Hassett in December. Has since joined Emma Lavelle. Ran well when third in an Irish bumper last December; could figure on stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 +13%) Bentley's Return |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Bentley's Return 7/2, Showed fair form when reaching the frame on 3 of his 4 bumper starts last season and longer trip will suit now hurdling. Steadily progressive in bumpers last season; in the shake-up on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -125%) Courtney Silver |
18/1(-125%) | (4) Courtney Silver 18/1, Modest form at best in bumpers and matched that form when causing a surprise in 8-runner novice here (17.7f) in August, asserting late on. Will surely prove vulnerable under a penalty, though. Shock winner over shorter trip here in August; this is much tougher under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (80/1 -142%) Elpologreg |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Elpologreg 80/1, Modest form on the first of 3 starts in bumpers and ran to a similar level when third on Stratford hurdle debut in May. More required. Moderate bumper form; third on hurdle debut in May but this is much tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 +0%) Ipso Falco |
40/1(+0%) | (7) Ipso Falco 40/1, Well beaten in bumpers and has fared little better both starts over hurdles. Well beaten on first three starts and behind Courtney Silver here in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (20/1 -167%) Double Powerful |
20/1(-167%) | (8) Double Powerful 20/1, €1,500 3-y-o, £42,000 4-y-o, Ocovango gelding. Dam unraced. Third sole start in Irish points (Feb 26). Market should point the way on Rules debut. Form of Irish point third may be solid; worth a second look on hurdle/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (300/1 -50%) Crookbarrow |
300/1(-50%) | (5) Crookbarrow 300/1, Well held on only start in bumpers (under Rules) and made an inauspicious start over hurdles when pulled up here in May. Easily passed over. Second in a point bumper but nothing in two starts under rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BENTLEY'S RETURN showed a fair level of ability in bumpers last season and the son of Mahler would not have to be anything special to make an immediate impact over hurdles. He is preferred to Cape Vidal, who found only an improver too strong at Plumpton in April. Courtney Silver must saddle a penalty for her recent course victory and is capable of being in the mix.
DOC MCCOY showed plenty in a trio of bumpers last season and, with the step up in trip sure to suit, he's taken to make a successful hurdling debut for a yard that has started the autumn well. Cape Vidal got his career back on track sent hurdling when runner-up at Plumpton in April and is open to improvement, with Bentley's Return another interesting contender.
Several bring potential but the experience of CAPE VIDAL may prove decisive.

1st (3) (2/1 +43%) Le Patron |
2/1(+43%) | (3) Le Patron 2/1, Winner in France and shaped well when second on stable debut in December. Failed to build on that since though so has something to prove now going chasing. Yet to build upon last year's promising stable debut but is on a good mark for chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 +8%) Proper Twelve |
11/4(+8%) | (4) Proper Twelve 11/4, Got off the mark at Market Rasen in May but only eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, good) 13 days ago. In good hands so he's no forlorn hope on his chase debut though. Class 5 handicap hurdle winner in May; takes on higher-calibre opposition on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/5 -7%) I Shut That D'Or |
16/5(-7%) | (2) I Shut That D'Or 16/5, Fairly useful winner at 21f over hurdles. 10/1, solid fourth of 6 in handicap hurdle at Sandown (19.8f, good to soft) 8 months ago. One to consider with tongue strap on 1st time for his chase debut. Shock winner of novice hurdle in January; makes chasing debut after 245-day absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 -33%) Red Windsor |
3/1(-33%) | (1) Red Windsor 3/1, Fairly useful 19f winner over hurdles last term who posted a solid third of 8 in novice hurdle at Kempton (16f, heavy) in April. Interesting chasing debut. Course winner over hurdles last season and could easily have more to offer over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RED WINDSOR rates an interesting contender after having just one handicap start over hurdles where he wasn't beaten far into third in April. The six-year-old makes his return to action and he could make a winning chase debut. I Shut That D'or makes his first start over fences after recording a victory in one of his four starts over hurdles and may prove a different proposition in this sphere. Le Patron can beat Proper Twelve home for third.
Four chasing newcomers so not the easiest race to assess but Chris Gordon's RED WINDSOR showed fairly useful and consistent form over hurdles last term so is fancied to come out on top. I Shut That d'Or could emerge as the chief threat ahead of Le Patron in a contest where the market should also prove revealing.
Gary Moore's LE PATRON is on a good mark for his chasing debut and gets the vote in the hope he has been refreshed by a summer break.

1st (4) (9/2 +44%) Soul Icon |
9/2(+44%) | (4) Soul Icon 9/2, Highly progressive last season, winning 7 handicaps in total. Form understandably tailed off but may be able to get back on the up fresh from 5 months off. Considered. Seven wins in last two years and much prefers a sound surface; has won when fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (6/4 +40%) Mr Freedom |
6/4(+40%) | (6) Mr Freedom 6/4, Had a busy and fruitful campaign last season and has carried on the good work on the Flat since. Likeable type who should feature if the pace is solid. Three Flat wins since good handicap efforts in the spring; first attempt at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 -35%) Aucunrisque |
9/2(-35%) | (1) Aucunrisque 9/2, Smart sort who produced a valiant front-running performance to land the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury in February. Only one creditable effort subsequently but likely to be ready to go after 147 days off. Won big Newbury race in February; may be vulnerable off this mark for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 -78%) Fifty Ball |
8/1(-78%) | (5) Fifty Ball 8/1, On a handy mark and returned to form when second at this course 142 days ago, travelling smoothly but not finding as much as the winner. Drop in trip could help and he's a definite player. Best run for long time when second over 3m2f here in May; trip is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (4/1 -20%) Thirtyfourstitches |
4/1(-20%) | (2) Thirtyfourstitches 4/1, Won twice at Plumpton last season before scoring on his seasonal return at Newton Abbot (21.6f, good to soft) last month. Ran at least as well when runner-up both subsequent starts and another bold showing is on the cards. Running well this season but now on a career-high mark and faces opposition up front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (25/1 -108%) Bread And Butter |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Bread And Butter 25/1, Ran a cracker returned from 4 months off/on debut for this yard when second in 25-runner Punchestown handicap hurdle (19.8f) in April. Disappointing on both subsequent starts (over fences last time) and has plenty to prove all of a sudden. Good second on stable debut but two poor runs since and just 2-27 as a hurdler. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
THIRTYFOURSTITCHES hasn't finished out of the top two on each of his last three outings, with his latest runner-up effort coming at Stratford in a class 3 event and he was raised 2lb for that display. The eight-year-old looks sure to go close once again. The main danger is Aucunrisque, who failed to fire in the Swinton at Haydock when last seen in May, but this looks like a much more suitable assignment. Fifty Ball looks the best of the rest.
MR FREEDOM is a highly likeable type who enjoyed plenty of success last season and, with the prospect of a solid gallop, he's capable of making a successful return to this sphere. Fifty Ball and Thirtyfourstitches are likely dangers, although the latter could face competition for the lead.
Progressive over hurdles and on the Flat, MR FREEDOM (nap) makes most appeal.

1st (3) (11/5 +37%) Tamaris |
11/5(+37%) | (3) Tamaris 11/5, Had a wind op before getting off the mark in 5-runner handicap chase at Plumpton (19.8f, good) 13 days ago. Well in the mix despite a 5 lb rise. After wind surgery he was an easy winner at Plumpton last month; big player again up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 -43%) Auditoria |
5/1(-43%) | (2) Auditoria 5/1, Got off the mark over fences at Taunton in March but below-par fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Fakenham (21.2f, good) in May. Blinkers replace a visor after a break with more required. Disappointing when last seen in May and needs to get back near her best on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (12/1 +0%) Solid Fuel |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Solid Fuel 12/1, Remains a maiden after 16 runs and only seventh of 9 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good) 38 days ago. Makes chase debut with something to prove. 16-race maiden who was tailed off last time and is out of the weights on this chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 +5%) Abingworth |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Abingworth 10/3, Gained his breakthrough win in 2m4f Plumpton handicap hurdle and posted a respectable sixth of 11 there later in April. Much respected on his chase debut. Disappointing in his final hurdle run last season and has a bit to prove on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (9/4 +0%) Toad Of Toad Hall |
9/4(+0%) | (4) Toad Of Toad Hall 9/4, Made it 2-4 this season with a career best in 6-runner handicap chase here (21.6f, good) 27 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Merits serious consideration despite a 5 lb rise. Record of 3-5 at this track and he won by 6l here (2m5f, good) last time; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
There is a good chance that fences will bring about the best in Abingworth and any market support would make him of serious interest. Auditoria often runs well and shouldn't be far away on the back of a summer break. Slight preference is for TOAD OF TOAD HALL, who has already won three times at this track and whilst the drop in trip is not ideal, his jumping is sound and he may outstay his rivals in first-time cheekpieces.
TOAD OF TOAD HALL is enjoying a very good season and fancied to bag a third success on the back of his career-best victory here last month. Plumpton-scorer Tamaris rates the main danger ahead of Gary Moore's chasing-debutant Abingworth.
Preference is for 6yo TAMARIS, who really got his act together over fences when scoring in good style at Plumpton two weeks ago.

1st (2) (1.75/1 +47%) Court In The Act |
1.75/1(+47%) | (2) Court In The Act 1.75/1, Built on minor promise of debut when a good third at Huntingdon 149 days ago, finishing well. Has left Oliver Sherwood and joined a shrewd outfit since, so looks a big player. Third of 16 at Huntingdon for Oliver Sherwood in the spring; first run for Harry Derham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3.5/1 -56%) Faha Belle |
3.5/1(-56%) | (5) Faha Belle 3.5/1, Winning pointer who offered plenty of encouragement when fifth at Ludlow on Rules debut five months ago. Open to improvement and deserves respect. Irish point winner; quite promising fifth against own sex in Ludlow bumper in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/8 -30%) Sea Invasion |
13/8(-30%) | (1) Sea Invasion 13/8, €38,000 3-y-o, £110,000 4-y-o, Sea Moon gelding. Half-brother to 6f-15f winner in Italy Absolute Silence. Dam 9f-1¾m winner in Germany. Runner-up sole start in Irish points (May 2022). Worth a chance to make a successful Rules debut. Split two subsequent rules winners when 2nd on Irish point debut (May 2022); £110,000 buy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (25/1 +50%) Holy Legend |
25/1(+50%) | (3) Holy Legend 25/1, From a good family but there wasn't enough promise in his debut at Chepstow 6 months ago to make him of serious interest in this. Not beaten far when eighth of nine on debut but others have more persuasive form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (40/1 -43%) Nomoreblackjack |
40/1(-43%) | (7) Nomoreblackjack 40/1, 5,000 gns 3-y-o, £4,800 4-y-o, Dartmouth filly. Dam unraced from a good family. Third on first of 2 starts in points, unplaced last time (May 14). Probably a long-term prospect. Showed only minor promise in two maiden points in the spring; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (15/2 +46%) Fortuna Major |
15/2(+46%) | (6) Fortuna Major 15/2, Soldier of Fortune mare. Dam (b81) bumper winner out of useful 2m-2½m hurdle winner Grangeclare Lark. Makes some appeal on pedigree and warrants a market check. First foal; dam won a bumper on her only start; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (100/1 -52%) Roczen |
100/1(-52%) | (4) Roczen 100/1, Related to a point winner but little encouragement in two bumper starts to date. Set for another struggle. Well beaten on first two starts and needs a transformation. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FAHA BELLE sets a clear form standard for those that have already run under Rules and she is entitled to build on her fifth at Ludlow in May. There should be more to come from both Sea Invasion and Court In The Act and they will give the selection plenty to think about, while any market support for Fortuna Major should be noted.
SEA INVASION cost six figures after a promising debut in points and he's joined a stable that often has similar types ready for their debut in bumpers, so he gets the nod over Faha Belle, who seems likely to improve. Court In The Act also makes some appeal.
The most interesting runner is SEA INVASION, who changed hands for a six-figure sum after finishing second in a good Irish point.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
