1st (3) (16/1 -14%) Johnny Jump Up |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Johnny Jump Up 16/1, €35,000 3-y-o. Workforce gelding. Fourth both starts in Irish points (latest Apr 2023). Market can prove a good guide on his hurdle debut. Showed only minor promise when fourth in two Irish points last year; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/8 +41%) Saladins Son |
13/8(+41%) | (4) Saladins Son 13/8, Bought for £95,000 after landing a maiden point. Showed promise when fourth in Chepstow maiden hurdle for his new yard but came in last of five at Ascot subsequently. Worth another chance. Disappointed on latest outing but his hurdle debut at Chepstow in October was promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/1 -110%) Crypto Currency |
7/1(-110%) | (2) Crypto Currency 7/1, Winning pointer who has shown ability in a bumper and 2 hurdles under Rules. Off for nearly 2 years before fifth of 13 for new yard at Newbury in November so he's entitled to come on for the outing. Respectable fifth on stable debut, after a long layoff, and still has potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/10 +27%) Walks Like The Man |
11/10(+27%) | (1) Walks Like The Man 11/10, Point/bumper winner who got off the mark in this sphere in 7-runner novice at Plumpton (20.5f, soft) 21 days ago, keeping on gamely. Should progress further. Player. Prevailed in good battle at Plumpton three weeks ago and can improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 -118%) Seaside Legend |
12/1(-118%) | (5) Seaside Legend 12/1, Adlerflug gelding who regressed from an encouraging bumper debut for Paul Nicholls, given a (second) breathing operation prior to a low-key return when ninth in Lingfield bumper. Lots more needed now going hurdling for his new yard. Failed to build upon a promising bumper debut for Paul Nicholls; now with Harry Derham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (18/1 -13%) Star Of Affinity |
18/1(-13%) | (6) Star Of Affinity 18/1, Some promise when fifth in Taunton bumper and 2m Kempton novice hurdle first 2 starts. Very testing ground might have been against him when down the field at Newbury since. No surprise were he to bounce back. Fairly fairly encouraging hurdle debut in November but latest run was a backward step. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (200/1 -300%) J'ventile |
200/1(-300%) | (7) J'ventile 200/1, Little impact in 3 bumpers so lots more is required now going hurdling. Didn't show enough in her three bumpers last year to warrant serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (200/1 +0%) No Guarantee |
200/1(+0%) | (8) No Guarantee 200/1, No show in a pair of bumpers and juvenile hurdles this winter. Easy to look elsewhere. Struggled when 200-1 for first two hurdling starts; can't be recommended. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WALKS LIKE THE MAN must shoulder a penalty having won at Plumpton three weeks ago, but this does not look the strongest of contests and he is fancied to double his tally. Saladins Son struggled in a warm class 2 in November, but he could fare better eased in grade, while hurdling debutant Seaside Legend appeals most of the remainder.
WALKS LIKE THE MAN has to concede weight all round but displayed a willing attitude when opening his account at Plumpton and can make light of his 6 lb penalty. Saladins Son has the form to play a part and can chase home Anthony Charlton's 6-y-o, ahead of the lightly-raced Crypto Currency.
The pick is WALKS LIKE THE MAN, who kept on strongly to pip a short-priced favourite at Plumpton this month and can improve again.

1st (4) (3/1 +14%) Pride Of Paris |
3/1(+14%) | (4) Pride Of Paris 3/1, Well beaten over 2m at Taunton last time but showed a bit on his first 2 starts over hurdles and rates a potential improver now handicapping back over further. Interesting to see how he goes in the betting. Handicap debutant; has possibilities if able to build upon Taunton fourth in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3/1 -71%) Kruger Park |
3/1(-71%) | (2) Kruger Park 3/1, Didn't pull up any trees in a trio of novice hurdles before Christmas but he's from a top stable and is interesting now switching to handicaps in a first-time tongue tie, particularly if the betting vibes are strong. Made the frame in two novice hurdles towards end of 2023; can improve in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (3/1 +79%) Rollo's Kingdom |
3/1(+79%) | (7) Rollo's Kingdom 3/1, Yet to score and has been disappointing in both starts this season (distant fourth latterly). First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect. Didn't run badly in gruelling race last month; may benefit from today's drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/2 +15%) Miss Fedora |
11/2(+15%) | (5) Miss Fedora 11/2, Belatedly off the mark when taking 19f course handicap hurdle in November. Pulled up at Wincanton since but she hasn't finished out of the first 3 in 5 visits here. 2m3f course winner in November but pulled up since; not an easy one to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (13/2 +7%) Touch Of Thunder |
13/2(+7%) | (1) Touch Of Thunder 13/2, Modest in bumpers. Has only run to a similar level in 3 starts over hurdles but could come into his own in handicaps. Not disgraced in two strong Newbury novice races last month; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (40/1 +20%) Engaging Sam |
40/1(+20%) | (9) Engaging Sam 40/1, Little impact in bumpers/over hurdles, faring no better for the switch to handicap company at Lingfield last time. Well beaten when 200-1 for handicap debut and effectively 1lb higher today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (25/1 -257%) Dixie Flyer |
25/1(-257%) | (3) Dixie Flyer 25/1, Remains a maiden over hurdles and has offered little in a trio of starts for current yard, including handicap. Has not shown a great deal on first three stable starts; of interest only if market speaks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (22/1 -238%) Steven Seagull |
22/1(-238%) | (8) Steven Seagull 22/1, Course winner in November but has run poorly on the Flat/over hurdles since. Bounce back needed. Won uncompetitive juvenile hurdle here in November but pulled up in a recent handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (100/1 -300%) Rosserk Abbey |
100/1(-300%) | (6) Rosserk Abbey 100/1, Sole win back in 2019 and absent since pulling up at Exeter in January 2022. Can only watch. Not seen since pulled up on stable debut two years ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A difficult contest to unpick with many needing to improve on what they've shown so far, so only a tentative vote can go to ROLLO'S KINGDOM. Tailed off over an extended 3m on heavy ground at Wincanton last month, he might fare better back on a sounder surface and with first-time cheekpieces applied. Kruger Park and Miss Fedora complete the shortlist.
The vote goes to the Paul Nicholls handicap newcomer KRUGER PARK, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Pride of Paris is another unexposed one who might fare better in handicaps and is a possible threat. Miss Fedora has a good record here and should also be thereabouts.
It's hard to build a robust case for any of these but ROLLO'S KINGDOM may benefit from this drop back in trip and gets the vote.

1st (3) (17/2 -42%) Bobalot |
17/2(-42%) | (3) Bobalot 17/2, Fair 3m winner over hurdles who ran out of steam only late when an encouraging fourth at Lingfield on his chase debut. Badly let down by jumping in a similar contest there last time and remains on an interesting mark returned to hurdling. Pulled up over fences on latest outing but reverts to hurdling on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (Evens +56%) Shuil Ceoil |
Evens(+56%) | (2) Shuil Ceoil Evens, Confirmed earlier promise when winning 15-runner handicap hurdle at Exeter (2m5f, heavy) 38 days ago, going with enthusiasm. Up 3 lb but has the benefit of Cobden on board for the first time and should have even more to offer. Came good in 15-runner Exeter handicap last month and remains lightly raced; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 -140%) Jemura |
6/1(-140%) | (1) Jemura 6/1, Progressive sort who had a wind op before posting a good third of 7 in novice hurdle at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) 46 days ago. More to offer now going into handicaps. Can make presence felt. Encouraging third in Exeter novice last month; should improve in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (7/1 +0%) What's My Line |
7/1(+0%) | (6) What's My Line 7/1, Better than ever when making a winning return Lingfield (2m, good to soft) in November. Shaped as if still in decent form when fourth of 6 here since but might be vulnerable to some of the less-exposed sorts in this line-up. Did well to win at Lingfield two runs ago but has never been one to rely upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (4/1 -14%) Naturally High |
4/1(-14%) | (4) Naturally High 4/1, Had to settle for a share of the spoils after proving wayward on run-in here (19.2f) on Boxing Day and ran to a similar level when third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, soft) 16 days ago. Respected with cheekpieces on 1st time. Dead-heated here off a much reduced mark on Boxing Day but others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (100/1 -52%) Miss Harriett |
100/1(-52%) | (9) Miss Harriett 100/1, Long-standing maiden who has offered little in 3 starts following a lengthy absence. Stiff task on her hands from out of the weights. Well beaten on all three appearances this season and 8lb out of the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -186%) My Lady Grey |
40/1(-186%) | (5) My Lady Grey 40/1, Prolific in long-distance chases in summer 2022 and shaped as if needing the run on back of 14 months in a handicap hurdle here in November. Early faller back over fences at Wincanton last time and she remains best watched for the time being. Returned from long layoff with low-key hurdle run and fell in a subsequent chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (50/1 -100%) Set In The West |
50/1(-100%) | (7) Set In The West 50/1, Absent since finishing a respectable third in a 9-runner handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (25f, good) in March 2022 and is likely best opposed after such a lengthy break. 0-6 over hurdles and not seen since her modest third at Huntingdon (3m1f) in March 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (80/1 -100%) Glorious Mist |
80/1(-100%) | (8) Glorious Mist 80/1, Maiden pointer failed to improve for the switch to handicaps when down the field at Lingfield last time. Can't be fancied. Well beaten when 80-1 for handicap debut at Lingfield in November; 2lb wrong here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SHUIL CEOIL took a marked step forward when scoring at Exeter last month and Neil Mulholland's charge might have what it takes to defy a subsequent 3lb rise. Handicap debutant Jemura merits respect for the Nicky Henderson team, along with Naturally High, who hit the frame at Huntingdon 16 days ago on the back of a win at this venue on Boxing Day.
SHUIL CEOIL got off the mark in determined fashion at Exexter last month and Neil Mulholland's gelding is fancied to follow up, the booking of Harry Cobden an added benefit. Jemura is an obvious danger making the quick switch to handicaps after 2 promising qualifying runs, whilst Naturally High arrives in decent heart and can complete the placings.
The one with most potential is handicap debutant JEMURA (nap), who shaped with significant promise when third in a novice last month.

1st (5) (4/1 -14%) Sir Rock |
4/1(-14%) | (5) Sir Rock 4/1, Irish point winner who made all over hurdles here (21.7f) in May. Refused to race here on his return but got back on track with 2 solid efforts at Stratford and Huntingdon before making a winning chase debut at Plumpton, showing a better attitude than has sometimes been the case. Player. Narrow winner on last month's chasing debut; can improve if more fluent here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 +44%) Leading Swoop |
9/2(+44%) | (4) Leading Swoop 9/2, Fair maiden hurdler who was all the better for return when third at Lingfield. Goes chasing now but didn't show much in points. Placed off today's mark over hurdles on latest outing; makes chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/8 +28%) Captain Claude |
13/8(+28%) | (1) Captain Claude 13/8, Slow burner over hurdles but made a winning debut over fences over C&D before following up here (26f) on Boxing Day. Should make a bold bid for the hat-trick. 2-2 over fences, with both wins gained here (2m5f/3m2f); commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 -33%) The Scorpion King |
8/1(-33%) | (3) The Scorpion King 8/1, Unreliable maiden over hurdles and not an obvious chasing type. 0-7 over hurdles but ran okay last month; a possible if he takes well to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (12/1 -243%) Mister Murchan |
12/1(-243%) | (2) Mister Murchan 12/1, Mostly out of sorts last term though ought to have won off reduced mark here final start (idled and collared last 50 yds) and was all the better for return when second at Lingfield 7 weeks ago. Ran well at Lingfield last month but this regressive veteran has become very inconsistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (14/1 +44%) I Love You Sivola |
14/1(+44%) | (8) I Love You Sivola 14/1, Fair hurdler/chaser in France but not much encouragement for current stable. Not disgraced over hurdles in November but struggled when back over fences this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (12/1 +52%) Ivilnoble |
12/1(+52%) | (9) Ivilnoble 12/1, Just the one win to his name over fences and has failed to complete last 3 starts, showing nothing at Wincanton after almost 2 years off last month. Well handicapped on old form but ran very poorly last month, after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (25/1 +0%) William Philo |
25/1(+0%) | (7) William Philo 25/1, Strong in the betting when getting off the mark over fences here (26f) in April on final outing for Robert Walford. Little encouragement in a pair of starts for current yard, though, and he's opposable in current form. Course winner last April but both runs for new stable in November were very disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (33/1 -267%) Spotty Dog |
33/1(-267%) | (6) Spotty Dog 33/1, Dual winner over fences during a mixed 2022/23 campaign, albeit final start at Warwick in May best excused having suffered tack issues. However, possible he'll strip fitter for this first outing for 8 months. Dual chase winner in early 2023 but has fitness to prove after 260-day absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CAPTAIN CLAUDE is seeking the hat-trick after beating the only other finisher by 11 lengths over 3m2f here on Boxing Day, and he now has a 7lb higher rating to contend with. The son of Solider Of Fortune is a C&D winner and is likely to prove very hard to beat. Mister Murchan produced a much better effort when dropped in distance at Lingfield last time and should go well, while Sir Rock is another to consider after his triumph at Plumpton.
CAPTAIN CLAUDE has taken very well to fences and is fancied to complete the hat-trick despite the drop back in trip possibly not being ideal. Sir Rock showed a better attitude than has often been the case when making a winning chase bow at Plumpton so looks the obvious threat, with Mister Murchan best of the others,
Captain Claude is respected but preference is for SIR ROCK, who can progress from his Plumpton win if his jumping improves here.

1st (9) (28/1 -75%) Risk De Pluie |
28/1(-75%) | (9) Risk De Pluie 28/1, £2,000 4-y-o, No Risk At All gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful French 2m hurdle winner Batman Girac and fairly useful hurdler Rajsalad. Winning Irish pointer (December 10), so he's one to consider on his hurdling bow. Improved to cause 20-1 surprise in maiden point last month; makes rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/15 +34%) Bowenspark |
8/15(+34%) | (1) Bowenspark 8/15, Useful dual bumper winner and easily landed the odds at Stratford on his hurdling debut. However, he again showed his awkward side when falling in Grade 2 novice at Haydock last time, but he's capable of playing a major role back down in grade. Useful in bumpers last season and impressed on hurdling debut in November; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (125/1 -400%) How And Ever |
125/1(-400%) | (5) How And Ever 125/1, Showed a bit when sixth of 16 in Chepstow bumper on Rules debut, but hasn't made much impact in his 2 starts since switched to hurdling. Needs to leave previous form well behind with cheekpieces now added. Certainly not devoid of ability but has a lot to find with the principals here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (5/1 +17%) Yalla Habibi |
5/1(+17%) | (12) Yalla Habibi 5/1, Ran to a fairly useful level in bumpers, finishing runner-up for the third time in as many starts at Wincanton 16 days ago. Can give another good account as he goes up in trip for his hurdles debut. Second in all three bumpers; Harry Cobden a good booking on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (125/1 -25%) Wellwillya |
125/1(-25%) | (11) Wellwillya 125/1, After 6 months off, fared better than previously when mid-field in Exeter novice in November and backed up that effort when third in handicap at the same course (18.5f) 46 days ago. However, he has work to do back in novice company. Placed off lowly mark in Exeter handicap last month but faces tough task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (5/2 +0%) Johnny Blue |
5/2(+0%) | (6) Johnny Blue 5/2, Overcame greenness when making a winning bumper debut at Worcester and, after 5 months off, shaped encouragingly when second to a useful rival at Hereford on his hurdles bow in November. Leading contender with improvement to come upped in trip. Bumper winner; clear second to useful rival on hurdle debut at Hereford; up in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (66/1 +0%) Nordic Storm |
66/1(+0%) | (8) Nordic Storm 66/1, Showed bit more than on his first outing when fourth in novice at Taunton (19f) 20 days ago, though never landed a blow. Looks one for further down the line. With a good stable but was unable to land a significant blow on first two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (250/1 -150%) Come On Paddy Mac |
250/1(-150%) | (2) Come On Paddy Mac 250/1, Winning Irish pointer but has offered little in 3 starts over hurdles so far, finishing well held after 14 months off at Taunton on his stable debut 20 days ago. Tongue strap now reached for. Irish point winner in February 2022 but well beaten on all three hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (300/1 -100%) D'ambonnay |
300/1(-100%) | (3) D'ambonnay 300/1, Down the field both starts in bumpers and has fared no better in 2 maiden hurdles, finishing well beaten at Plumpton in December. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Has struggled to get competitive in two bumpers and two maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (40/1 -100%) Hidalgo Des Bordes |
40/1(-100%) | (4) Hidalgo Des Bordes 40/1, €20,000 3-y-o, £25,000 5-y-o, Coastal Path gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Ginger du Val. Dam, 17f hurdle winner in France, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stays 19f) Guardia Top. Runner-up on third of 3 starts in Irish points back in May 2022. Bought for £25,000 after Irish point second in May 2022; makes rules debut after layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 -400%) Rue St Denis |
40/1(-400%) | (10) Rue St Denis 40/1, Sent off favourite (11/4) but ran below expectations when ninth of 15 at Hereford on debut in November, seeming very green. However, no surprise to see him fare better with that experience behind him as he goes hurdling. With top stable but flopped on bumper debut; Harry Cobden has taken an outside ride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (66/1 -100%) Jolyjump |
66/1(-100%) | (7) Jolyjump 66/1, Has looked one for the longer term in 2 novice hurdles to date, going backwards from his debut effort when eighth of 9 at Newbury (20.5f) 39 days ago. Showed no short-term promise in two novice hurdles towards the end of last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BOWENSPARK was sent off favourite when falling at the last in a Grade 2 event at Haydock, but he was unlikely to have won as he was weakening at the time. Henry Daly's gelding now drops back into calmer waters and can defy his 7lb penalty. Johnny Blue was 10 lengths clear of the third when runner-up on his debut over hurdles at Hereford and, with normal progression, he could get into contention. Of the remainder, Yalla Habibi appeals most.
JOHNNY BLUE made a promising start over hurdles when giving best only late on to a useful rival at Hereford in November, so he can build on that effort to go one better. He is taken to see off the challenge of Bowenspark, who can make his presence felt back down in grade, while Rue St Denis could take a step forward on his hurdles bow.
Henry Daly's BOWENSPARK looked smart when winning at Stratford in the autumn and his subsequent Grade 2 defeat is not viewed harshly.

1st (5) (9/2 -50%) Gold Clermont |
9/2(-50%) | (5) Gold Clermont 9/2, Resumed winning ways at Fakenham in December but only eighth of 11 in handicap chase at Plumpton (28.5f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Big shout on Fakenham win; weakened right out of it in the Sussex National three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 +45%) Jerrash |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Jerrash 3/1, Successful over hurdles at Plumpton (25f) last January but has failed to build on that under both codes, pulled up at Exeter in November. Blinkers are reached for now. Out of form in 2m3f chases; last season's 3m1f hurdles win was encouraging; blinkers now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/2 +0%) Southern Sam |
5/2(+0%) | (2) Southern Sam 5/2, Lightly-raced for his age and, having ran well when third on return at Wetherby in November, he ran out a gutsy winner at Haydock (25.5f) 29 days ago. Weighted to go well again. Easily the most solid in this field but he was pulled up when trying 3m4f here last April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/1 -75%) Whydah Gally |
7/1(-75%) | (3) Whydah Gally 7/1, Unreliable type who scored at Lingfield on his return only to come in last of 6 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy) 50 days ago. Switches to fences with cheekpieces added and lots to prove. Far from solid judged on last term over fences and this term as a hurdler; headgear switch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (7/2 +13%) Blame The Game |
7/2(+13%) | (4) Blame The Game 7/2, Course winner who took a step back in the right direction when seventh of 11 in handicap chase (18/1) at Plumpton (28.5f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Considered off a falling mark. Big player on plenty of form last season but he's not fired in his three runs this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (18/1 +0%) Len Brennan |
18/1(+0%) | (6) Len Brennan 18/1, Has gone well fresh but pulled up on his return in handicap chase at Hereford (25.2f, soft) 24 days ago. Others are preferred. Out of form on last three starts, with 454 days off before this month's run at Hereford. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SOUTHERN SAM dug deep to open his account over fences at Haydock last month. A 3lb rise looks more than fair for the veteran and he looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to complete a brace. Gold Clermont didn't fire as expected when only eighth in the Sussex National at Plumpton earlier in the month, but she cannot be dismissed on this return to class 4 company. Whydah Gally also makes some appeal now returned to chasing.
SOUTHERN SAM displayed a plucky attitude when scoring at Haydock last month and can make light of a 3 lb rise in the weights in a handicap where most arrive with a question mark against them. Course winner Blame The Game is sliding down the weights and next on the list ahead of Gold Clermont who needs to shrug off a lesser showing at Plumpton.
Southern Sam looks the most reliable but the step up in trip is an appealing move for JERRASH.

40/1(-21%) | (10) Staff Sergeant Len 40/1, Nutan gelding. Brother to fair hurdler Sergeant. Pulled up at Cheltenham first time up, so hard to envisage him getting involved. Ran as though something was amiss when 33-1 for Listed race at Cheltenham this month. |

3rd (9) (12/1 +40%) Grenadier Jed |
12/1(+40%) | (9) Grenadier Jed 12/1, Half-brother to bumper winner Montenay but didn't offer enough at Wincanton first time out to make him of serious interest in this. Safely held when fifth of nine (albeit on heavy ground) at Wincanton last month. |

11/4(+54%) | (5) Silver Thorn 11/4, Martaline gelding. Brother to hurdler Marmalaid, and half-brother to bumper winner Lady d'Arbanville. Of obvious interest on debut. Out of a Flat-winning half-sister to Champion Hurdler Katchit; no surprise if he features. |

13/2(-8%) | (4) Lumi Plugin 13/2, Kayf Tara gelding. Sister to 2m hurdle winner Robin's Dream and hurdler Jerrash. Interesting newcomer. Brother to stable's useful jumpers Robin's Dream and Jerrash; looks the part on paper. |

7th (1) (5/2 -53%) Bond Broker |
5/2(-53%) | (1) Bond Broker 5/2, Successful on sole start in points and made a mildly encouraging start under Rules when third at Exeter a couple of months ago. Could improve plenty, so makes the most appeal. Joined Paul Nicholls after winning point debut; placed at Exeter in November; a player. |

40/1(-233%) | (7) Bella Cavalla 40/1, Milan mare. Sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Miss Xian and bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Monkey Milan. Worth a market check. Sister to a useful staying jumper; stable has pretty good record in bumpers. |

9th (8) (12/1 +25%) Ellie's Warrior |
12/1(+25%) | (8) Ellie's Warrior 12/1, Related to a bumper but only hinted at ability when mid-field at Plumpton first time out. Needs to take a big step forward. Beaten about 21l when sixth at Plumpton last month; improvement needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (80/1 -60%) Fiftyfifty |
80/1(-60%) | (2) Fiftyfifty 80/1, Third both starts in Irish points but well beaten in a Musselburgh bumper on last month's Rules debut. Made low-key start to rules career when seventh at Musselburgh last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (200/1 -100%) Surrey Nemesis |
200/1(-100%) | (12) Surrey Nemesis 200/1, Down the field at Newbury first time out and hard to make any sort of case for. Always behind when 150-1 for last month's debut at Newbury (soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (20/1 -67%) John Balliol |
20/1(-67%) | (3) John Balliol 20/1, Sixties Icon gelding. Dam 1½m winner who stayed 2m. Should have the pace for this sort of test, so not ruled out. Out of a fairly useful 1m4f AW winner; market may guide on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BOND BROKER offered plenty of encouragement on his third-placed Rules debut at Exeter in November and natural improvement could make the five-year-old tough to beat. Newcomer Lumi Plugin won't be lacking for stamina in this sphere and the Kayf Tara gelding is taken to go well. Any market support for Gary Moore's gelding would be noteworthy, with similar sentiments applying to Silver Thorn.
Having won his only start between the flags, BOND BROKER made a solid start under Rules at Exeter two months ago, so he's the obvious answer to what could be an above-average bumper. Lumi Plugin and Silver Thorn are two of several notable newcomers.
Point winner BOND BROKER travelled like a good horse when third at Exeter in November and appeals most.
Ths is the racecard key.
