1st (9) (4/5 +12%) Tutti Quanti |
4/5(+12%) | (9) Tutti Quanti 4/5, Made a very promising start last season, runner-up in hurdles in France and at Taunton 5 months apart, splitting a promising pair and beaten just ½ length starting out for Paul Nicholls at the turn of the year. More to come and a banker for a novice like this. Went close on British debut at Taunton in January; leading contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +9%) Diamonds For Luck |
5/1(+9%) | (4) Diamonds For Luck 5/1, Six-figure buy out of the pointing field (fell when having every chance both occasions) and made a much better fist of it sent hurdling on return when second at Uttoxeter (2m), unable to bridge the gap to a more prominently ridden one in a steadily-run affair. Bred to stay well and should do better. Promising second on last month's hurdling debut; likely contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (18/1 -13%) Don't Wind Me Up |
18/1(-13%) | (5) Don't Wind Me Up 18/1, Showed ability amid clear inexperience in Chepstow bumper a year ago. Closely related to yard's fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stays 23f) Tidal Flow so could do better now jumping. Not beaten far when fourth of five on bumper debut last November but not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 -50%) Gold In The Rivers |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Gold In The Rivers 9/2, Maiden hurdle winner in Ireland and ran well at Down Royal when last seen in May. Drops back to the minimum trip starting out for in-form new yard (£40,000 buy from Gordon Elliott) and should have more to offer. 2m3f maiden winner in Ireland in March; makes stable debut following £40,000 sale. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 +17%) Imaginarium |
15/2(+17%) | (2) Imaginarium 15/2, Useful Irish 9f winner on Flat for Ger Lyons and made a successful start over hurdles on his sole start for Lucinda Russell in 2m Perth maiden in May. Stiff task at Cheltenham starting out for this yard recently and this is easier. Hurdle winner in May; found Grade 2 too hot on stable debut but this race is easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (18/1 -13%) Leech |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Leech 18/1, From the family of smart hurdler (stayed 19f) Local Hero and won a Chepstow bumper in February. Hurdles debut and yard have won this in the past. Heavy-ground bumper winner in February; market may point the way on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (125/1 -56%) Dublin To Milan |
125/1(-56%) | (6) Dublin To Milan 125/1, Made the frame in a trio of points. Well held completed start over hurdles last month at Uttoxeter. Likely to need more time. Not disgraced at Uttoxeter last month but others have much more obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (200/1 -100%) Princess Keri |
200/1(-100%) | (12) Princess Keri 200/1, From the family of Welsh Grand National winner Potters Corner and runner-up on last of 3 starts in Irish points. Never on terms on recent hurdles debut at Ludlow (21f) and she can't be fancied down in trip. Always behind when 100-1 for recent hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (80/1 +0%) V Power |
80/1(+0%) | (10) V Power 80/1, Fair on the Flat (stays 1¾m) but ran below that level sent hurdling at Chepstow last month. Fair on the Flat but was soundly beaten on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (400/1 -220%) Absence Of Malice |
400/1(-220%) | (11) Absence Of Malice 400/1, No impact in 2 bumpers and Worcester novice hurdle in the summer. Hood goes on. Well beaten in both her bumpers during the summer and also struggled on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (150/1 -50%) Monsieur Lambrays |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Monsieur Lambrays 150/1, Fairly useful staying handicapper at best on Flat, took little interest last time. Finished last on both Flat starts this year and is overlooked on belated hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (150/1 -200%) Chateau Du Lys |
150/1(-200%) | (3) Chateau Du Lys 150/1, From the family of fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3m) Yalltari. Runner-up sole start in points (May 27). Might need further and more time. Second in a maiden point on debut but has a lot more on his plate here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GOLD IN THE RIVERS won a maiden hurdle for Gordon Elliott on his penultimate start at Limerick and the five-year-old may put his experience to good use, despite dropping to 2m for the first time in his career. Tutti Quanti commands plenty of respect based on his second at Taunton in January, while Imaginarium was outclassed in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last month but is back at a more realistic level.
TUTTI QUANTI made a very promising start over hurdles last season, splitting a similarly promising pair at Taunton when starting out for Paul Nicholls in January, and he could be hard to beat if ready to roll. The penalised Gold In The Rivers is a big player on his return for a new yard and Imaginarium completes the shortlist.
Preference is for TUTTI QUANTI, who went close on his British debut in January and is open to significant improvement this season.

1st (1) (2/7 +54%) The Kemble Brewery |
2/7(+54%) | (1) The Kemble Brewery 2/7, Created an excellent impression when landing both starts in bumpers but needed experience when third on hurdles debut on final outing. Much more like it after 11 months off when taking 11-runner novice hurdle at Worcester (2m) 25 days ago and he's the type to progress further. Useful in bumpers last year and opened hurdling account last month; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/1 -67%) Koapey |
10/1(-67%) | (6) Koapey 10/1, €52,000 3-y-o, Manatee gelding. Encouraging start when second of 7 in a C&D bumper 28 days ago, pressing leader from 2f out and held only final 50 yds. Respected now attentions switch to timber with Harry Cobden an eye-catching booking. Had wind surgery. Ran well in defeat in course bumper last month; now makes his hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (66/1 -100%) Kalahari King |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Kalahari King 66/1, Califet gelding from a good jumping family. Promise when midfield on bumper debut at Exeter (16.7f) back in December but never figured when ninth of 11 in bumper at Wetherby (2m, heavy) in February. Remains an interesting prospect for hurdles on return. From a very good jumping family but was soundly beaten in two bumpers last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (28/1 -133%) Chesh |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Chesh 28/1, £140,000 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. Showed ability when sixth of 9 in bumper at Kempton (2m, soft) on sole start for Chris Gordon back in February. Joined another good yard/had wind op ahead of return and he looks a good jumping prospect. Made fairly encouraging bumper debut in February; with new stable for hurdling career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (22/1 -57%) Kick For Touch |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Kick For Touch 22/1, £62,000 3-y-o, Cokoriko gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners, including Cacao d'Olivate. Dam unraced half-sister to French hurdlers/chasers Numero Special (2¼m-2¾m winner). Market should prove a useful guide on hurdles debut. Out of a half-sister to a Listed chase winner; entitled to learn from this debut outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (125/1 -89%) Tom Taggle |
125/1(-89%) | (7) Tom Taggle 125/1, Showed a bit when midfield in big field Sales bumper last spring but easy to back and ultimately well held on return/debut in this sphere when tenth of 13 in a Chepstow maiden (19.5f) 12 days ago. Never get competitive on recent hurdling debut at Chepstow (2m3f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (100/1 -52%) Kiss Me Moon |
100/1(-52%) | (10) Kiss Me Moon 100/1, Ran to only a poor level in bumpers at Newbury/Stratford during the spring and she's passed over now hurdling/after 6 months off. Showed only minor promise in her two bumpers and faces a tough task on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 -100%) Trust House |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Trust House 66/1, Fairly useful form on Flat for Ralph Beckett, stays 1½m. Acquired for 58,000 gns by present connections but looked a work-in-progress in pair of hurdle starts in recent months. Looks a likely type for handicaps moving forward. Useful Flat winner in 2023 but safely held in two maiden hurdles this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (125/1 -150%) Wilmcote |
125/1(-150%) | (11) Wilmcote 125/1, Jack Hobbs filly. Showed ability amidst greenness in pair of bumpers at the start of the campaign but easy to back and looked one for later on when eighth of 14 in novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 10 days ago. Towards rear throughout when a big-priced outsider for recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (11/2 0%) Jackpot D'ainay |
11/2(0%) | (3) Jackpot D'ainay 11/2, Bred to stay well and having made the frame both starts in bumpers, he shaped with encouragement sent hurdling after 7 months off when third of 8 in a Uttoxeter novice (15.8f) 23 days ago, left with too much to do in steadily-run contest. Likely improver. Hood on 1st time. Very respectable third on recent hurdling debut at Uttoxeter; each-way claims at least. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THE KEMBLE BREWERY needed time to recover from his hurdling debut at Cheltenham last November having picked up an injury. The five-year-old got off the mark over timber at Worcester last month and the form has already worked out with the runner-up Jurancon going one better at Chepstow earlier this week. Jackpot D'ainay wears a hood for the first time after racing too keenly at Uttoxeter on his first attempt over hurdles. He may prove the biggest threat if settling better, while Koapey and Kick For Touch are others to note.
Successful on each of his 2 starts in bumpers, THE KEMBLE BREWERY surpassed his hurdles debut form after 11 months off when successful at Worcester (2m) 25 days ago. Open to improvement, he can defy weight all round and follow up. Jackpot d'Ainay is a likely improver following his good third at Uttoxeter recently, with Koapey and Chesh another pair of interest from bumpers.
Dual bumper winner THE KEMBLE BREWERY quickened clear with a next-time-out winner over hurdles last month and has strong claims here.

1st (7) (40/1 -100%) Impatient |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Impatient 40/1, Lightly raced since his promising hurdles debut a year ago and hasn't progressed, always behind on return/chase debut at Southwell 3 weeks ago. Tongue tie back on. Posed no threat on recent chase/handicap debut but remains very unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/2 +31%) Phantom Getaway |
11/2(+31%) | (2) Phantom Getaway 11/2, Winning Irish pointer who took 3m handicap hurdle at this meeting on 2022/23 return. No show in 3 starts over fences last season but returns with yard in great form. Has had a breathing operation and also tongue tied now. Out of sorts last season but resumes after wind op and on very dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (9/1 +36%) Dusautior |
9/1(+36%) | (12) Dusautior 9/1, Won 3m novice handicap chase at Bangor in April. Easy to back and probably needed the run after 4 months off at Uttoxeter, an error as the race was beginning in earnest exacerbating matters. Down 2 lb and this Irish point winner is still relatively unexposed. Battled well to open chase account in April but two lesser efforts have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (15/2 0%) Icaque De L'isle |
15/2(0%) | (9) Icaque De L'isle 15/2, Stopped the slide from a slipping mark after 7 months off (had breathing operation in interim) when second at Worcester (23f) 3 weeks ago, no match for promising winner. Nudged up just 1 lb but worth remembering that he didn't go on from an encouraging reappearance last season. Back from layoff/wind op with creditable second at Worcester last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 +50%) Pedley Wood |
11/2(+50%) | (8) Pedley Wood 11/2, Started last season over fences with a bang, winning over further at Hereford and Taunton. Will need to find a bit more to defy current mark on return. 2-5 in first season over fences; back from break; may prefer right-handed tracks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (11/1 +0%) River Voyage |
11/1(+0%) | (14) River Voyage 11/1, Winning Irish pointer who only showed a modest level of form over hurdles and failed to meet expectations sent chasing after 6 months off at Stratford when well backed, adding to a patchy record. Blinkers go on. Pulled up when well supported for chasing debut but may yet do well over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (33/1 +0%) Old Painless |
33/1(+0%) | (5) Old Painless 33/1, Plumpton winner first time up over fences 2 years ago but little impact in 3 runs for current yard, including on return at Warwick last month. Some positives can be drawn from last month's seasonal debut; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (10/1 +29%) Shot Boii |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Shot Boii 10/1, Took 25f Hereford handicap chase at the start of the year and a couple of good seconds after. Cheekpieces back on for return and has won fresh. Wouldn't dismiss. Ran well in Chepstow marathon in March but ended last season with a poor performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (16/1 -33%) Stellar Stream |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Stellar Stream 16/1, Gained a deserved breakthrough success over fences (in first-time cheekpieces, not on here) in the North Wales National at Bangor (29.5f, heavy) in February. Failed to complete next 2 starts and suspect he'll come on for this after 6 months off. Marathon winner in first-time cheekpieces in February; no headgear for this seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (18/1 -157%) Bonza Boy |
18/1(-157%) | (3) Bonza Boy 18/1, Got back on track over fences last term, scoring at Exeter and Chepstow. Undone by a rise in the weights going for a hat-trick here final start, again jumping right. Steps up in trip on return and may come on for it. Ended last season in very good form over 2m3f; could have more to offer over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (7/1 +56%) Puddlesinthepark |
7/1(+56%) | (13) Puddlesinthepark 7/1, Only win came here over hurdles. Appears to have completely lost his form, merely passing beaten horses late on having been well off the pace most of the way at Chepstow 4 weeks ago. His mark continues to tumble. Out of form since his two seconds in cheekpieces in the spring; needs to turn a corner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (6/1 -80%) Village Master |
6/1(-80%) | (1) Village Master 6/1, Unbeaten over fences, making it 5-5 in 26f handicap at Fontwell when last seen in June. Up just 2 lb and returns after breathing op with yard going well. Strong claims. Began chase career with five wins in a row in spring; back from a break today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (20/1 -67%) Pilgrims King |
20/1(-67%) | (11) Pilgrims King 20/1, Dual winner back over fences earlier this year, including at this track. Should stay this new trip on return and not dismissed. Dual 2m3f chase winner last season; moves up in trip after a break; needs to be at peak. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VILLAGE MASTER remains unbeaten in five starts over the larger obstacles and the handicapper may not have caught up with him yet based on his latest success at Fontwell in June. Pedley Wood improved last season with a brace of victories at Hereford and Taunton. Joe Tizzard's gelding remains open to improvement on just his sixth start over fences, while Icaque De L'isle and Bonza Boy are others to consider.
VILLAGE MASTER has been a revelation over fences and can make it 6-6 in this sphere on his return with his yard going well. Shot Boii could be a player on his comeback, while Icaque de l'Isle has to be a danger if building on his good reappearance run.
Richard Bandey's ICAQUE DE L'ISLE (nap) returned to form with a clear second at Worcester last month and is only 1lb higher here.

1st (11) (4/1 +33%) Crest Of Fortune |
4/1(+33%) | (11) Crest Of Fortune 4/1, Related to several winners and made a successful start in Wincanton bumper in December. Good fifth in Newbury bumper in March and enters calculations starting out in this sphere. Won at Wincanton (1m7f, heavy) and 5th of 20 in valuable bumper at Newbury (co-favourite). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/1 -8%) Jaccours |
7/1(-8%) | (6) Jaccours 7/1, Shaped with promise when fourth in a pair of bumpers and again when filling the same spot in novice hurdle (16/1) at Worcester (16f, heavy) 25 days ago. Goes up in trip now and should have more to offer. Player with that form working out well. The longer trip is probable help on second start over hurdles; one of many with e-w claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (15/8 +46%) Farland |
15/8(+46%) | (4) Farland 15/8, Fairly useful bumper winner. Had a winnd op before making a promising start in this sphere when third of 12 in novice hurdle (13/8) at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) 30 days ago, finishing well under considerate handling. Capable of better. Firmly in the mix. Plenty of ability in bumpers; never-nearer 3rd in 2m Chepstow novice, hanging persistently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (33/1 -200%) Alan De Banks |
33/1(-200%) | (1) Alan De Banks 33/1, Soldier of Fortune gelding who made a winning bumper debut at Newton Abbot and was also first past the post there in September (disqualified as ridden by banned jockey). Interesting hurdling debutant. Finished 2nd once and 1st twice (disqualified once on technicality) in his three bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (16/1 +20%) Kap Vert |
16/1(+20%) | (12) Kap Vert 16/1, €50,000 3-y-o, Kapgarde gelding. Dam 17f/2¾m chase winner in France. Runner-up in points in May so this hurdling newcomer is one to consider. Ran in two Irish maiden points in the spring, runner-up on second occasion; yard runs two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (28/1 +15%) Neo King |
28/1(+15%) | (9) Neo King 28/1, Multiple point winner and second in a hunter chase at Down Royal (19.5f) in March. Changed hands for £20,000 and posted an encouraging third of 10 in novice hurdle here (21.9f, soft) 28 days ago. Open to improvement. Needs to build markedly upon his hurdle debut show but the previous Irish form gives hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (4/1 +47%) Ski Lodge |
4/1(+47%) | (10) Ski Lodge 4/1, Runner-up sole start in points and useful form when landing bumper at Chepstow in January. Off since but he's still one to consider now starting out over hurdles Progressive form in two Chepstow bumpers suggests he's a contender on this hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (50/1 -100%) Tokyo Tom |
50/1(-100%) | (15) Tokyo Tom 50/1, €27,000 3-y-o, Mahler gelding. Dam (h115) 2½m hurdle winner, also 11f-12.5f winner who stayed 17f on Flat. Runner-up sole start in Irish points in Aprild. 50/1(-52%) | (13) Kingston Gent 50/1, £38,000 4-y-o, Kingston Hill gelding. Dam lightly raced on Flat. Winning pointer in May. Worth a market check now going over hurdles. 3rd and 1st in British maiden points (2m4f, good) this spring, before £38,000 sale in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (15/2 +17%) Churchstone Rover |
15/2(+17%) | (2) Churchstone Rover 15/2, Promising debut third of 15 in novice hurdle at Tipperary (24f, good to soft) in May for Jonathan Sweeney. Can build on it for his new handler after a break. 11-1 from 20-1 when 3rd of 15 in maiden hurdle at Tipperary (2m, good to yielding) in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (150/1 -50%) Small Town Hero |
150/1(-50%) | (14) Small Town Hero 150/1, Point winner who has been brought along steadily in this sphere, sixth of seven in 2m4f Aintree maiden two weeks ago. Looks one for the longer term. Irish point winner but he needs to leave his rules form (three races) miles behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (66/1 -32%) Ipsos Des Bordes |
66/1(-32%) | (5) Ipsos Des Bordes 66/1, Cokoriko gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Ginger du Val and modest 17f chase winner Hidalgo des Bordes. This dual point winner needs considering now going hurdling. 2-4 in British points two seasons back for owner-trainer; this rules debut is a warm race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (28/1 -250%) Nels Son |
28/1(-250%) | (8) Nels Son 28/1, Promising debut third of 14 in novice hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, good to soft, 3/1) 120 days ago on sole run for Colm Murphy. Seems sure to do better for his new yard. 3-1 from 13-2 when third of 14 for maiden at Wexford (2m4f, good) in July for Colm Murphy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (3) (200/1 0%) Don't Ask Fitz |
200/1(0%) | (3) Don't Ask Fitz 200/1, Placed in points but yet to offer much in two runs over hurdles at Uttoxeter and Stratford this autumn. Hard to fancy. Made the frame in his two points but no worthwhile form in his two maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (125/1 -279%) Ligety |
125/1(-279%) | (7) Ligety 125/1, Green when an encouraging fifth of 11 in bumper (33/1) at Warwick (16f, good) on NH debut 6 months ago. Much respected on his hurdles debut with cheekpieces fitted. Promising fifth of 11 in Warwick bumper in April; wandered and cheekpieces are now fitted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Nels Son and Churchstone Rover both offered plenty to work with on their respective third-placed hurdle introductions when trained in Ireland and they must enter calculations. However, the highly-regarded CREST OF FORTUNE was far from disgraced when finishing fifth in the valuable Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper at Newbury in March and he looks just the type to excel now tackling hurdles. Anthony Honeyball's gelding gets the verdict, while Rula Bula and Ski Lodge are other interesting contenders.
Lots of potential on show here, not least Olly Murphy's JACCOURS who is fancied to build on his promising Worcester fourth (form been franked) now his stamina is drawn out more and get off the mark. Farland also shaped well when third at Chepstow last time and could emerge as the main danger, with Churchstone Rover and Nels Son also with the form to have a say. Newcomers Ski Lodge, Crest of Fortune and Tokyo Tom also need factoring into this intriguing maiden.
This is packed with interest almost all the way down the card. SKI LODGE and Rula Bula ended bumper campaigns on positive notes.

5th (6) (12/1 -50%) Balkardy |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Balkardy 12/1, Made light of a six-month lay-off when landing 5-runner handicap chase at Stratford (22.6f, good to soft) 34 days ago. Much respected back in this sphere. Surged back to form when reappearing for a Stratford chase win (2m7f, soft) five weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 -43%) Iberio |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Iberio 20/1, A fair 3m winner over hurdles but failed to score over fences for Philip Hobbs & Johnson White. Again made mistakes when pulled up on his yard debut in 3m2f Chepstow handicap chase 12 days ago. Needs to step forward back in this sphere. Back from chasing; well treated were he to recapture his best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (7/1 -40%) Fortified Fortune |
7/1(-40%) | (7) Fortified Fortune 7/1, £115,000 recruit from the Irish pointing field and got off the mark in 2m novice hurdle at Newton Abbot in May. Should have more to offer now that he goes back up in trip for his handicap debut. Promising at 2m3f/2m1f this spring; it's striking to see this handicap debut is over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (16/1 +20%) Ballymagroarty Boy |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Ballymagroarty Boy 16/1, C&D winner but off 6 months before a below-form seventh of 13 in handicap hurdle (18/1) at Exeter (23.1f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Can build on it now. 11yo; recent reappearance may have done him some good but others have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (6/1 +57%) Fair Frontieres |
6/1(+57%) | (3) Fair Frontieres 6/1, Got back on track with cheekpieces on for 1st time when third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Kempton (21f, good to soft) in May. Since had a wind op and very much one to consider off a lenient mark. Front-running 3rd in May but still needs to step up a gear; had wind surgery in September. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having proved a different proposition when making a winning handicap/seasonal debut over 2m3f at Fontwell last month, there is likely more to come from BROUGHSHANE. The son of Mahler got the better of a subsequent winner and, with this 3m distance expected to suit, a 9lb higher mark may not be enough to prevent him from following up. Dangers are aplenty, with the unexposed Fortified Fortune feared most, ahead of the progressive Stratton Oakmont.
Lots with chances but BROUGHSHANE remains on a workable mark despite taking a 9 lb rise for his stylish Fontwell victory with this step up in trip also a plus for this son of Mahler. The handily-weighted Fair Frontieres is feared most, although Woodie Flash, Stratton Oakmont and Fortified Fortune all need considering too.
The two most interesting candidates, open to the most improvement, are Broughshane and FORTIFIED FORTUNE.

1st (5) (9/2 +31%) Lermoos Legend |
9/2(+31%) | (5) Lermoos Legend 9/2, Six-time winner over fences but he's been operating below his best in recent months and no upturn for switch back to hurdles when fourth of 15 in handicap at Chepstow (19.4f) 12 days ago. Handicapper has given him a big chance, however. In good form during the summer but seems to have gone off the boil lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/1 -100%) Mumbles |
8/1(-100%) | (3) Mumbles 8/1, Went the right way in handicaps over hurdles last term, gaining a second victory at Fontwell (19.2f) in March. Looked all about stamina when fourth from career-high mark over 20f here later that month so drop back to 2m may not suit ideally now attentions switch to chasing. Chase debutant; gained his hurdling wins over 2m3f on heavy; may find this test inadequate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 +18%) As Tears Go By |
9/1(+18%) | (1) As Tears Go By 9/1, Hit the target twice for Gordon Elliott in 2023 and following a very low-key start for present stable, he stopped the slide when second over fences at Stratford (21f, heavy) 3 weeks ago, finishing tired. Now his task is to build on that effort. Ran well from the front when second to useful rival at Stratford last month; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (40/1 +20%) Esperti |
40/1(+20%) | (10) Esperti 40/1, Little impact over hurdles for this yard and fared no better sent chasing when pulled up at Hereford (20.9f) 4 weeks ago, folding from 4 out. Pulled up when 50-1 for last month's chasing debut; drops back from 2m5f here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (2/1 +83%) Moorefields |
2/1(+83%) | (4) Moorefields 2/1, Fair form when successful on second of 3 starts in maiden hurdles. Didn't kick on thereafter in trio of handicaps during the spring but in-the-frame on each of his 3 starts in points earlier in his career so interesting if the market spoke in his favour now sent chasing. Makes chasing debut from a tempting mark but was badly out of form over hurdles in spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (7/1 +30%) Roger |
7/1(+30%) | (8) Roger 7/1, Failed to set the world alight on the Flat in Slovakia but he was a runaway winner on hurdles debut for new connections at Stratford (19f, heavy) in March. Well beaten next 2 starts but stable boast a good record with their runners in this sphere and one to note on handicap bow. Won juvenile hurdle on British debut; well beaten twice since; makes chase/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (7/2 -17%) Heard That |
7/2(-17%) | (2) Heard That 7/2, Placed on second of 2 starts in points and better efforts over hurdles since the tongue tie was applied, second of 11 in handicap at Perth (23.9f) back in April. Down markedly in trip on return but switch to chasing could well see him in an even better light. Had wind op. Made the frame in all four handicap hurdles; looks an interesting chase prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (14/1 -87%) You Say Nothing |
14/1(-87%) | (6) You Say Nothing 14/1, Registered his third success over fences in a C&D handicap back in spring of last year. Exploits decidedly mixed during first half of this year but he was campaigned over further latterly and the return to the minimum trip can help. Better anticipated from much-reduced mark. Below best in the spring but has won over C&D and when fresh before; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (66/1 -164%) Time To Dazzle |
66/1(-164%) | (7) Time To Dazzle 66/1, Well served by change of tactics when making second start in handicaps a winning one over hurdles at Fontwell (19.2f) in February. Absent since finishing well held on chase debut for Gary & Josh Moore in May and he changed hands for only £1000 later that month. Sold out of Moore stable for £1,000 after poor chasing debut in May. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Chase debutant Heard That was knocking on the door in handicap hurdles last season and he warrants respect in this sphere given his point-to-point background. With that being said, this 2m trip may prove on the sharp side for the Watar gelding and MUMBLES shades the verdict. Evan Williams' inmate looked to be biding his time over the smaller obstacles during his last campaign and fences could be the making of him. You Say Nothing is now 8lb below his C&D victory in May 2023 and market support on his return would be interesting.
The betting can prove useful in assessing the quintet of chasing debutants but C&D winner YOU SAY NOTHING returns from a break lurking on a very handy mark and, with the drop back in trip another likely plus, he could be worth siding with to bounce back. Of the chasing newcomers, Heard That, Roger and Mumbles make most appeal and head up the dangers.
A chance is taken on DOORS BREAKER, who might have been revitalised by a change of stable.

1st (14) (9/1 +10%) Lady Harriett |
9/1(+10%) | (14) Lady Harriett 9/1, Went close at Cartmel in August but has performed below that level twice since, beaten just over 25 lengths into fourth over 3m here latterly. Wears first-time cheekpieces and drops in trip in a bid to get back to her best. Close second at Cartmel (3m1f, heavy); out of form since; headgear for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (22/1 +33%) Kingoftheswingerz |
22/1(+33%) | (5) Kingoftheswingerz 22/1, Third on Wincanton hurdle debut last December but failed to reproduce that in 3 subsequent outings last season, including a handicap. A wind operation ahead of this reappearance needs to have had a positive effect. Ran poorly on handicap debut; wind surgery in July and now tongue tied for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (16/5 -7%) Ionity |
16/5(-7%) | (8) Ionity 16/5, Improved again to open his account in C&D handicap in May and returned with a creditable third of 13 at Ludlow 17 days ago. No reason why he won't give another good account of himself. Won over C&D in May in his second handicap and placed in the other two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (50/1 -25%) Parish Star |
50/1(-25%) | (13) Parish Star 50/1, Modest form on the Flat in Ireland for Jim Bolger and made little impact over hurdles last season, including handicaps. Has had wind surgery ahead of reappearance. Needs marked improvement on this first run since wind surgery in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (33/1 0%) Trevor's Lad |
33/1(0%) | (7) Trevor's Lad 33/1, Displayed definite promise on first of his 2 starts in novice hurdles during 2022/23 season but has struggled in only 2 handicap starts since. Third on hurdling debut two years ago but no comparable form in his only three runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (33/1 +0%) Hi Riko |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Hi Riko 33/1, More miss than hit in the first half of this year but was runner-up twice in handicaps last November. Has left Richard Hobson ahead of reappearance. Also hooded first time. Second twice last November; off 190 days and has left Richard Hobson; hood first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (20/1 +50%) Pescatorius |
20/1(+50%) | (11) Pescatorius 20/1, Poor form, including no impact in 3 handicaps. Lacks solid claims, particularly after his three handicaps; second run since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (33/1 -65%) Pooroldmackley |
33/1(-65%) | (9) Pooroldmackley 33/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and has offered little in 3 qualifying runs this season. It is possible handicaps will see him in a better light but the stable's other runners have more obvious claims. Makes handicap debut but the yard seems to have a far stronger candidate in Ionity. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (3/1 +57%) Chauffeur Driven |
3/1(+57%) | (3) Chauffeur Driven 3/1, Point winner. Also third in maiden/novice hurdles around 2m last winter but disappointed when stepped up to 25f for his handicap debut at Huntingdon in March. Back down in trip on reappearance with cheekpieces added. Still early days and one to note in the betting. Cheekpieces go on after handicap debut flop; interesting to see if his backers return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (11/1 -10%) Mount Washington |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Mount Washington 11/1, Showed a fair level of ability on bumper debut. Has yet to better poor form over hurdles but she did hint at promise when sixth on her 2m Stratford handicap debut and reappearance 3 weeks ago, shaping as if this return to a longer trip will suit. Yet to be seriously competitive over hurdles; did not show much on seasonal/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (13/2 +19%) Villainess |
13/2(+19%) | (1) Villainess 13/2, Came good in a 2m Stratford maiden in April but has been unable to make a significant impact in handicaps on her 2 outings since. Back up in trip. More to prove over this trip but she makes more appeal than the big majority of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (8/1 -60%) Drumlee Spud |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Drumlee Spud 8/1, Hasn't built on a promising start to her career, pulling up in a 19f Fontwell handicap on her reappearance 18 days ago. The fact she went off at 7/4 on that occasion suggests a lot better was expected and it'll be interesting to see whether there's money for her again now fitted with cheekpieces. Backpedalling when making a mistake two out on reappearance (favourite); first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 -54%) Top Kap |
10/1(-54%) | (6) Top Kap 10/1, Modest form at best in a bumper and maiden/novice hurdles but handicaps provide him with a much more realistic chance back from 6 months off. Interesting runner, particularly if backed. Major yard; needs better after some heavy defeats but makes his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (25/1 +38%) Sindri |
25/1(+38%) | (12) Sindri 25/1, Maiden on the Flat and has yet to achieve much over hurdles, not jumping well when comfortably held in Exeter handicap on reappearance and yard debut last month. Modest maiden on Flat and after four starts (one for this yard) over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (80/1 -142%) Grandmaster Flash |
80/1(-142%) | (15) Grandmaster Flash 80/1, Three-time AW winner on the Flat but no real impact in his 6 starts over hurdles, pulling up at Newton Abbot when last seen in May. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Seldom threatened to be competitive as hurdler; reverts to blinkers from usual cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In a moderate event IONITY is hard to oppose having won over C&D in May and he was third at Ludlow on his return to action last month. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance here. The main threat may prove to be Villainess and she may improve following her sixth at Uttoxeter a few weeks ago. The rest all have questions to answer, but Chauffeur Driven and Lady Harriett are the pick of them.
IONITY is the most solid option back at the scene of his C&D win in May but there are a few unexposed sorts in opposition who could easily take a step forward, headed by Alan King's Top Kap and the selection's stablemate Mount Washington, who ought to appreciate this longer trip.
It's an early stage in some of these careers but at the moment it looks as if IONITY is easily the most solid candidate.

One to consider on debut for a leading yard which gets plenty of bumper winners. Sister to fair hurdle winner Highlands Legacy; stable has good bumper strike-rate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/3 +26%) Mighty Fleur |
10/3(+26%) | (7) Mighty Fleur 10/3, Fair form when placed in a pair of Uttoxeter bumpers earlier in the year. Likely to be on the premises again. Placed at Uttoxeter on both starts and ought to make her presence felt again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (20/1 -43%) Reel Orange |
20/1(-43%) | (10) Reel Orange 20/1, Better effort in bumpers in Ireland for Sam Curling at the start of the summer when second of 7 at Tramore in June. That effort entitles her to be in the mix but it's been a while since her new yard sent out a bumper winner. Second at Tramore in June but probably needs to improve again on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/4 +10%) Easy Love |
9/4(+10%) | (2) Easy Love 9/4, Cost €80,000 after winning an Irish point in April. Harry Cobden booked for Rules debut and likely type for yard with a strong bumper record. Beat a subsequent hurdle winner on Irish point debut; new stable does well in bumpers. |

11/1(-100%) | (6) I Am The Moon 11/1, Pether's Moon mare. Dam (h142) bumper/2m-21f hurdle winner. Makes obvious paper appeal. First foal from owners' smart hurdler Midnight Tour; makes appeal on paper. |

15/2(-15%) | (12) Visions Of Johana 15/2, Telescope filly. Half-sister to 4 winners, including Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John and fairly useful hurdler Anythingforlove. Good pedigree for a stable with a healthy 20% bumper strike-rate in the last 5 seasons. Half-sister to Gold Cup winner Sizing John; stable has very good bumper strike-rate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (28/1 -40%) Dellahay |
28/1(-40%) | (1) Dellahay 28/1, Scorpion filly. Dam placed once over hurdles. Wears tongue strap. The betting should help guide to expectations. First foal; dam placed bumper/2m hurdle, half-sister to three Flat winners; tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (4/1 +67%) Stylia |
4/1(+67%) | (11) Stylia 4/1, £30,000 buy after finishing runner-up on her completed start in Irish points in May 2024. Harry Cobden partners the yard's other runners but this one still needs checking out in the betting. Bought for £30,000 after Irish point second in May; stable's other runner appeals more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (20/1 +29%) Full Of Charm |
20/1(+29%) | (3) Full Of Charm 20/1, €9,000 Harzand filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/high-class chaser Secret Investor and fairly useful hurdler Imperial Merlin. Yard 5-54 in bumpers in the last 5 seasons. Out of a useful hurdler who produced high-class jumper Secret Investor; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (28/1 +15%) Ramalamadingdong |
28/1(+15%) | (9) Ramalamadingdong 28/1, Highland Reel filly. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Havana Hermano (stayed 29f) and fair hurdler/chase winner Havana Dancer. The yard isn't a regular source of bumper winners. Out of a useful bumper winner; well worth a glance in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (125/1 -25%) Grayland |
125/1(-25%) | (4) Grayland 125/1, 33/1, eleventh of 14 in bumper at Uttoxeter (2m, good) on debut 107 days ago. Always behind when 33-1 for debut at Uttoxeter in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (100/1 -257%) Mustamento |
100/1(-257%) | (8) Mustamento 100/1, 18/1 and hooded, achieved little when a well-held third of 6 in Warwick bumper on debut 47 days ago. Big step up needed. Showed only minor promise when well-held third of six at Warwick in September. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Mighty Fleur and Reel Orange are the pick of those with race experience but the level they set is not particularly high. As a result, a chance can be taken on EASY LOVE, who cost 80,000 euros after winning an Irish point-to-point in April. I Am The Moon has a pedigree that suggests that she could go well in this sphere, while similar comments apply to Highland Haven and Ramalamadingdong.
A concluding bumper where the betting is likely to be informative. Before any such clues are known the suggestion is EASY LOVE, who won an Irish point in the spring and has Harry Cobden booked for this Rules debut. I Am The Moon, Highland Haven and Visions of Johana are newcomers who make paper appeal, while Mighty Fleur should also feature after placing twice at Uttoxeter earlier in the year.
The suggestion is Irish point winner EASY LOVE, who has joined a stable with a very good bumper record.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
