(2) Topo Chico 1.25/1, On a hat-trick after easy 6f wins at Windsor and Lingfield for new yard last month. Effectively 9 lb higher here but still very much the one to beat.
Two easy wins for new yard; having an experienced 7lb claimer up will help; solid claims.
LTO Selection:

16:45 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TOPO CHICO is two out of two since joining the David Loughnane yard, with the most recent of those victories coming at Lingfield. She now has to compete off a 9lb higher rating, which is unlikely to stop her. The main threat might be Brazen Idol, who was only touched off by a nose at Goodwood last time, while Parisiac can beat Willingly home for third after his fourth at Bath.

TOPO CHICO has proved a revelation dropped to sprinting for new trainer David Loughnane and can complete a hat-tick. Brazen Idol has been in good form since joining John Butler and is the obvious one to give the selection most to do.

Having clicked for her new yard since dropped to 6f, TOPO CHICO can complete the hat-trick at the main expense of Brazen Idol.

LTO Selection:

17:15 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

COUNT PALATINE was only denied by a head when surging late at Newbury last time and he was raised 3lb for that display. The son of Profitable could take another step forward to strike here under Sean Levey. Johnny Johnson was third at Newmarket on his nursery bow and looks sure to go well once more, while any market support for Alnoory Star would be of interest.

JOHNNY JOHNSON did well to get third having made his effort more towards the far side than ideal at Newmarket last time and, with a bigger performance expected, he's narrowly preferred to Count Palatine and The Smiling Wolf, who both arrive on the back of good seconds.

Out of a soft-ground winner for the yard, THE SMILING WOLF (nap) is preferred to Count Palatine.

LTO Selection:

17:50 Ffos Las Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BLUE DAY showed his inexperience when green on debut at Newbury, but he still managed to grab fourth. The son of Blue Point is likely to have any amount of improvement to come, so he could prove hard to beat. Avoriaz had a promising debut of his own at Salisbury and could also enter the reckoning, along with the 170,00-euro purchase Manhattan Mirage on debut.

BLUE DAY shaped with plenty of encouragement in a stronger race than this at Newbury 41 days ago and, with improvement on the cards, he gets the nod. Manhattan Mirage and Blacklion are both notable newcomers, while First Encore also has potential.

First Encore's Salisbury third has been boosted since, but BLUE DAY shaped with a deal of promise at Newbury and is preferred.

LTO Selection:

18:20 Ffos Las Stakes (Class 4) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SYLLABUS and Insanity look the pair to concentrate on and, while the latter may improve now that he has been gelded, the former has shown stronger form and has the potential to find more now that a tongue-tie and cheekpieces are applied. The step up in trip should also be fine this son of Sea The Stars, who seemed to handle cut in the ground last time out. Dance Time appeals most from the remainder.

SYLLABUS isn't progressing but this appears to be his most straightforward assignment to date, so he's fancied to get off the mark at the possible expense of Insanity, who needs to put a tame run behind him but still has some potential. Beau Nash could also feature if he settles better.

Insanity had SYLLABUS just behind when going close on debut but he's since bombed and the Haggas runner looks the safer option.

LTO Selection:

18:50 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

OWENS LAD had plenty in hand when he crossed the line in front at Carlisle nine days ago and is hard to oppose under a 5lb penalty. His second in a slightly deeper race two starts ago only enhances his claims and another big run can be expected. Fellow last-time-out winners Lailah and She's A Mirage are feared most, although Gilbert is not ruled out this level.

GILBERT represents an in-form stable and, having been second in first-time blinkers at Epsom, he's fancied to go one better returning to a more suitable trip. Last-time-out winners Owens Lad and Nivelle's Magic are both dangers.

There is plenty for nearly all of this field to prove with the combination of trip and ground if it's soft, but GILBERT gets the vote.

19:20 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Runner-up on her last two starts, KYNSA looks the type to progress further and she can go one better stepping up in distance. Although rated 3lb higher than her latest outing, the three-year-old is fancied to get the better of recent C&D winner City Escape, who scored off 3lb lower last month. Change Of Fortune also merits consideration following a decent second at Windsor most recently.

KYNSA is taking a fairly significant jump in trip but the fact her dam has form over as far as 2m suggests the extra yardage could suit her and she's preferred to fellow 3-y-os Hildegard, the mount of Oisin Murphy, and Nannie Dee, an unexposed sort from the Crisford stable who may derive some benefit from today's first-time cheekpieces.

Having proved herself in the mud here, KYNSA can make the breakthrough with this step up in trip, which her family suggests will suit.

(10) Tarbat Ness 5/1, Beaten a long way but did shape as if back in form when third of 10 in handicap at Nottingham (2m, heavy, 13/2) 29 days ago. Has often shaped as if he has a low-grade handicap in him and perhaps Tom Marquand is the man to coax it out of him.
Placed three consecutive times (2m-2m5f) this spring but his form has dipped.

Vastly better last time (11.6f); might now bring potential to handicaps; blinkers enlisted.

LTO Selection:

19:50 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 6) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

This could go the way of the in-form TIN FANDANGO, who kept on to finish second over this trip at Newbury in July. A 1lb raised mark may not be enough to hold him back dropping in class and he is fancied to score here. Easter Icon was a fair third over 2m1f at Pontefract last month and is next best, while Berkshire Sundance completes the shortlist.

TARBAT NESS has knocked on the door a few times this season and gets the nod with Tom Marquand doing the steering on him for the first time. Low-mileage 3-y-os Lock The Vault, who sports first-time blinkers for his handicap debut, and Berkshire Sundance might be the pair to give him most to think about.

Tin Fandango is a big player on soft ground but has a 3-42 strike-rate. BERKSHIRE SUNDANCE stuck to his task well over 2m on AW.
