Pearl's Edge |
(2) (5/2 -25%)5/2(-25%) | (2) Pearl's Edge 5/2, Left debut form well behind when third at Windsor in May. 5/2, fourth of 5 in minor event at Bath (5f, good) 32 days ago and she has to be taken seriously in a race like this. Close up in both runs this season and she could still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (1/12 +86%) Asinara |
1/12(+86%) | (4) Asinara 1/12, Lightly-raced filly. 11/8, creditable second of 7 in maiden at Leicester (6f, good) 11 days ago, no match for winner. Chance is there for all to see in this company. Not entirely straightforward but has record of 2322 and this looks a good opportunity. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (350/1 -2088%) Max Stripes |
350/1(-2088%) | (1) Max Stripes 350/1, Stiff mark on what he achieved in his qualifying runs and finished last of 5 in handicap at Haydock (7f, good to firm, 28/1) 12 days ago. Tough task trying to concede weight. Well held in all four runs and has plenty to find on this switch to sprinting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (300/1 -2400%) Rose'aid |
300/1(-2400%) | (3) Rose'aid 300/1, 100/1 and cheekpieces on for first time, first run since leaving Gemma Tutty when fifth of 6 in maiden at Bath (8f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Down in trip. Six-race maiden who has struggled in last three runs and this is a new trip; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ASINARA arrives here having filled second place on three of her four starts to date and the daughter of Harry Angel will not find many better opportunities than this to get off the mark. Pearl's Edge has not been beaten far on her last couple of starts and appears to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of Max Stripes.
Probably a match between ASINARA and Pearl's Edge with the 5 lb the former receives tilting the scales her way.
3yo ASINARA has been expensive to follow so far but she looks worth another chance and gets the vote ahead of Pearl's Edge.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(-1150%) | (6) Secret Mission 150/1, Foaled May 15. Blue Point colt. The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LAKERS displayed plenty of promise when filling third place on his debut at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago and the son of Pinatubo could be hard to beat with the benefit of that experience. Zayer cost 85,000 euros at a breeze-up sale in May and is arguably the most eye-catching newcomer, although any market support for Baather or Classic Cause would have to be noted.
LAKERS shaped with plenty of promise when third in what looked a strong race for the track at Yarmouth a fortnight ago and expected to build on that, he'll take soem stopping. Newcomers are feared most, with Zayer and Classic Cause perhaps the pick of them before market clues.
Preference is for LAKERS, who made a promising start with his third at Yarmouth two weeks ago and sets a fair standard on that form.

Darkened Edge |
(2) (15/2 -15%)15/2(-15%) | (2) Darkened Edge 15/2, Modest filly. Respectable third of 8 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm, 14/1) 18 days ago. Six-race maiden who has not progressed so far and has work to do on the figures. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (5/4 -56%) Alfred Cove |
5/4(-56%) | (1) Alfred Cove 5/4, Latest win at Brighton in July and posted another respectable effort despite failing to justify 11/10 price when second of 6 back at that venue (5.3f) last week. Major claims. Win and good second in classified events at Brighton last twice; big player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 -100%) Rhubarb |
4/1(-100%) | (5) Rhubarb 4/1, Modest mare. Creditable third of 7 in handicap (10/1) at this C&D (good) 7 days ago, running on. Likely to give it another good shot. Handles any ground and was a close third over C&D ast week; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/2 +61%) Louis Treize |
11/2(+61%) | (3) Louis Treize 11/2, Tricky customer. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 10/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm) 18 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Losing run is mounting up and he's a frequent slow starter; not the percentage call. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (250/1 -900%) Pink Stripes |
250/1(-900%) | (4) Pink Stripes 250/1, Remains a maiden after 24 Flat runs. 33/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 9 days ago. 24-race maiden and this looks tough on these terms; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ALFRED COVE won a similar event to this over 6f at Brighton two starts ago and was not disgraced when second at the same venue last time. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance, although Rhubarb should not be discounted following an encouraging third in handicap company over C&D a week ago. The rest need to improve but Darkened Edge is the pick of them.
ALFRED COVE has been in excellent heart at Brighton in recent weeks and this looks to be a good piece of placing by connections. Rhubarb is the obvious threat.
This is a tight call between Rhubarb and ALFRED COVE but the vote goes to Tony Carroll's in-form 5yo.

5/2(+9%) | (2) Night Breeze 5/2, 3/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 27 days ago, finishing well. Very much one to consider with his stamina drawn out more. 0-9 but he went close at Chelmsford (1m2f) last time and is respected back on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 -620%) Godsend |
9/1(-620%) | (5) Godsend 9/1, 1 win from 2 runs this year. 9/2, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Ripon (12f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Big shout under a 6 lb penalty. Came good with emphatic win at Ripon last week and he's open to more progress; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (66/1 -230%) Highland Lil |
66/1(-230%) | (6) Highland Lil 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm, 66/1) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces back on with more required. Well held in all five runs and she needs a transformation on this step up to 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (400/1 -7173%) Advert Rules |
400/1(-7173%) | (4) Advert Rules 400/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 16 days ago. Up in trip. Needs considering. Ran well for a long way at Wolverhampton and could be dangerous if he can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (400/1 -7173%) Rock City Falls |
400/1(-7173%) | (3) Rock City Falls 400/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourth of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 28/1), not knocked about. Off 95 days. Significantly up in trip and not discounted on his handicap debut. Unexposed colt and he needs a close look upped in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (350/1 -3400%) Lusaka |
350/1(-3400%) | (1) Lusaka 350/1, Course winner. Eighth of 9 in handicap (40/1) at Sandown (14f, good) 12 days ago. Every chance if back to best though. Out of sorts in his three runs this season and needs a major revival back in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GODSEND benefited from more patient tactics when getting off the mark at Ripon last Monday on his second start in handicap company. Sir Mark Prescott's gelding may prove a tough nut to crack, despite carrying a 6lb penalty. Night Breeze boasts a consistent level of form in recent weeks and the four-year-old is capable of being in the mix, while stepping up in trip might aid the cause of Advert Rules.
GODSEND got back on the up when going in at Ripon last week and still looks ahead of his mark under a 6 lb penalty. Night Breeze appeals as the one to chase home Sir Mark Prescott's 3-y-o now he steps up in trip with the lightly-raced Advert Rules also in the picture.
This can go to GODSEND, who surged clear at Ripon last week and looks well treated under a penalty for that success.

1st (10) (11/2 +8%) Zambezi Magic |
11/2(+8%) | (10) Zambezi Magic 11/2, C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Did quite well to finish third of 6 in handicap (9/1) at this course (8f, good to soft) 24 days ago given how slowly away he was. Back up in trip. Can make presence felt if breaking close to on terms. His last win was almost two years ago and he's been quiet in 2024; others preferred.. |

2nd (4) (4/1 -20%) Inappropriate |
4/1(-20%) | (4) Inappropriate 4/1, Showed improved form when second of 10 in handicap at Nottingham (10.2f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Improving all the time recently and 2 lb rise still leaves him competitive taking on elders for the first time. Went close at Nottingham (1m2f) last time and he's a big player again up 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (125/1 -1463%) Khangai |
125/1(-1463%) | (9) Khangai 125/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 4/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Bath (11.6f, good to firm) 14 days ago, failing to last home. This trip more suitable. Went close at Bath last month but well held last time and that took his record to 1-22. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (350/1 -5733%) Ciotog |
350/1(-5733%) | (1) Ciotog 350/1, Blinkered for first time, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, good to firm, 12/1) 19 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Back up in trip and this represents a drop in grade. Well held in last four runs and all wins have come at around 1m; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (125/1 -3471%) Celebrating Ethel |
125/1(-3471%) | (2) Celebrating Ethel 125/1, Failed to meet market expectations when fourth of 5 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm, 9/4) 18 days ago, though wasn't seen to best effect given she was denied a clear run and finished with running left. This is easier so bold bid looks assured. Well treated on her best form and wasn't beaten far at Doncaster last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (400/1 -4900%) Jolty Jem |
400/1(-4900%) | (8) Jolty Jem 400/1, Stuck to his task when fourth of 6 in handicap at Windsor (10f, good to firm) 23 days ago. That was his first go over this far and he's likely to give it another good go. Hasn't threatened in his four handicaps and needs to raise his game at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (400/1 -4344%) Kinematica |
400/1(-4344%) | (6) Kinematica 400/1, Promising debut on the AW but disappointing since, last of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (11.1f, good) 20 days ago. Hood on first time for in-form yard. In good hands and still early days but she needs a transformation with a hood added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (100/1 -1233%) Prince Ali |
100/1(-1233%) | (3) Prince Ali 100/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 3/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 35 days ago, given he was left poorly placed how the race unfolded. Rare turf start. Triple AW winner but he's 0-7 on turf and has not run in this sphere since last June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (200/1 -1329%) Acclaimer |
200/1(-1329%) | (5) Acclaimer 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in handicap (8/1) at Leicester (8.2f, good). Off 12 months. Up in trip. Visor on first time and he has to return an improved performer to defy current mark. Unexposed gelding but he's back from a year off and needs improvement upped in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
INAPPROPRIATE has taken a step in the right direction since moving up to 1m2f on his last couple of outings, hitting the frame at Yarmouth and Nottingham, and the son of Churchill may have been found the ideal opportunity to shed the maiden tag. Prince Ali and Celebrating Ethel appear best of the remainder, although Kinematica is not without a chance if the first-time hood can help her to settle.
It's easy to excuse CELEBRATING ETHEL's Doncaster effort given she was denied a run and the way she finished that race off suggests she's still in form. This is a slightly easier assignment so she looks the answer, with Inappropriate feared most taking on his elders for the first time. Zambezi Magic can ruin his chance at the stalls but is a threat if avoiding that trait this time.
Most of these have something to prove but INAPPROPRIATE (nap) has a progressive profile and he went close at Nottingham last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Tarbat Ness has been knocking on the door with a brace of runner-up efforts at Ripon and Carlisle in May. The five-year-old makes a considerable amount of appeal, but the vote goes to EASY EQUATION. His return to turf saw him go close at Pontefract last month and a repeat of that performance may suffice. Kissininthebackrow completes the shortlist with the extra couple of furlongs a potential source of improvement.
TARBAT NESS signalled he's ready to go in again when runner-up at Carlisle last time so this C&D winner gets the vote off the same mark. Kissininthebackrow is weighted to have a big say and next on the list ahead of in-form pair Easy Equation and Thahab Ifraj.
The vote goes to EASY EQUATION, who has a solid record for his current yard including a close call at Pontefract last month.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
