Fidelius |
(1) (9/4 -13%)9/4(-13%) | (1) Fidelius 9/4, 2 wins from 5 runs this year. Found further improvement when taking 6-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 10 days ago by 2½ lengths from Smooth Silesie. 6 lb penalty to carry but holds strong follow-up claims nonetheless. Two AW wins in last three runs; has a penalty back on turf but he's open to more progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (4/1 +60%) Horse Whisperer |
4/1(+60%) | (3) Horse Whisperer 4/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in April. 13/2, below-par ninth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 6 days ago. Claims on best form. Dual winner (AW/turf) but she needs to bounce back after a tame effort last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/4 +25%) Macanudo |
9/4(+25%) | (2) Macanudo 9/4, Returned to form when good second of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Newbury (5.2f, good) 6 days ago. Figures off a handy mark and must enter calculations. Close second when dropped back to 5f at Haydock last week; player if he can back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/1 +10%) Smooth Silesie |
9/1(+10%) | (6) Smooth Silesie 9/1, Latest win at Nottingham in May. Creditable 2½ lengths second of 6 to Fidelius in handicap (25/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 10 days ago, no match for winner. More needed. Won at Nottingham in May but has not matched that form in three runs since; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (66/1 -843%) Johnny Johnson |
66/1(-843%) | (5) Johnny Johnson 66/1, Hooded for 1st time, bit below form fourth of 9 in handicap at Salisbury (7f, good, 6/1) 24 days ago. Back down in trip. Still looking for first success. Ten-race maiden who has been well held in his last three runs; others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (33/1 -1100%) Kingwood Queen |
33/1(-1100%) | (4) Kingwood Queen 33/1, Upped her game when opening account in 6-runner handicap at Bath (5.7f, firm, 15/2) 16 days ago, always holding on. 4 lb rise fair and should go well again. Off the mark when making all at Bath and a 4lb rise looks fair; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Fidelius justified his place in the market when making every yard of the running at Wolverhampton last time and he should remain competitive, despite having a 6lb penalty back on turf. However, the vote goes to KINGWOOD QUEEN, who went in by a length on only her second handicap start last month and the handicapper may have been kind to put her up just 4lb for that triumph. Johnny Johnson is another to note under Oisin Murphy.
Clearly suited by the reapplication of headgear, MACANUDO posted his best effort for some time at Newbury last week and remains fairly treated. He can return to winning ways. Recent scorers Fidelius and Kingwood Queen are the obvious dangers.
Recent Bath winner KINGWOOD QUEEN is open to more progress in sprint handicaps and she gets the vote ahead of Fidelius.

Bonny Power |
(8) (10/1 -11%)10/1(-11%) | (8) Bonny Power 10/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Eighth of 9 in handicap at Les Landes (6f, good, 5/1) 26 days ago. Needs a revival. On career-low mark but she's 1-20 and has been well held in Jersey the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (15/2 -233%) Bama Lama |
15/2(-233%) | (2) Bama Lama 15/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Chepstow in June. 11/4, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Very likely to give it another good go back over 5f. Form figures of 33132 since April and was only just caught at Windsor latest; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/2 +39%) Twayblade |
11/2(+39%) | (6) Twayblade 11/2, 10/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Eased 2 lb and he should be in the mix. On dangerous mark and he wasn't beaten far at Nottingham last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 +0%) Rhubarb |
10/1(+0%) | (7) Rhubarb 10/1, Tongue strap tried again but fared no better when fourth of 6 in handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good to firm, 11/2) 16 days ago. Is 2 lb below her last winning mark, at least. Well treated on her two 5f wins last year but she needs to rediscover her spark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (18/1 -29%) Redshore City |
18/1(-29%) | (5) Redshore City 18/1, One win from 23 Flat runs. 16/1, first run since leaving Miss Natalia Lupini when fifth of 7 in minor event at this course (6f, good) 14 days ago, slowly away. May not have the pace for 5f. Record of 1-23 and he's not easy to predict; looks opposable back at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 -43%) Papabella |
10/1(-43%) | (3) Papabella 10/1, Still looking for first win and last of 10 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good) 47 days ago. That was her reappearance and yard going much better now, so better definitely expected. Inconsistent eight-race maiden who was last of ten on her Bath reappearance in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (25/1 -456%) Brandy Station |
25/1(-456%) | (4) Brandy Station 25/1, Doesn't run on turf that often but he's a multiple C&D winner, adding to tally on reappearance here 17 days ago. Had the run of the race on that occasion and more to do back in a handicap. Landed a gamble with emphatic win over C&D on his return last month; respected up 6lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (25/1 -651%) Some Nightmare |
25/1(-651%) | (1) Some Nightmare 25/1, C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 5/1, respectable third of 7 in minor event at this course (6f, good) 14 days ago. Blinkers back on and he's been given every chance by the assessor. On dangerous mark and was a fair third here (6f) last time; not ruled out back in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Brandy Station returned from a 257-day break to comfortably take a classified event over track and trip recently and it would be foolish to dismiss him on his return to the handicap ranks. However, BAMA LAMA has been really consistent of late, hitting the frame on each of her last five starts, and she can be rewarded for her fine form on this occasion. Some Nightmare is another to keep an eye on after his third over 6f here last time.
It might be worth siding with SOME NIGHTMARE, a previous C&D winner who normally contests stronger handicaps than this. Papabella represents a yard going much better now so she'll surely come on plenty for her low-key reappearance, with Bama Lama likely to give it another good shot.
Bama Lama is respected but preference is for BRANDY STATION, who made it 3-5 here with his emphatic win over C&D last month.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (13/2 -44%) Mujid |
13/2(-44%) | (2) Mujid 13/2, Stepped up on reappearance when winning at Windsor in June. 5/1, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm) 9 days ago, left poorly placed so needs treating as though still in form. Shapes as though worth a try over this trip. Won at Windsor on his penultimate run and has claims if he copes with this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (6/1 +50%) Hiccups |
6/1(+50%) | (6) Hiccups 6/1, 22/1 and cheekpieces on for first time, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, good to soft) 41 days ago. Up in trip. Has work to do. Seven-race maiden who has not finished closer than 7l to a winner; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 -11%) Anna Of Saxony |
5/1(-11%) | (4) Anna Of Saxony 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 13 in maiden (250/1) at Kempton (11f) 28 days ago. Handicaps up in trip more suitable. Unexposed handicap newcomer but she needs a transformation upped to this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (15/2 +17%) Rita Rana |
15/2(+17%) | (8) Rita Rana 15/2, Eighteen runs since sole win in 2022. 12/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Beverley (9.9f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Significantly up in trip, which may well suit. Overall record of 1-31 and she's not made an impact this season; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (40/1 -1500%) Baileys Warrior |
40/1(-1500%) | (3) Baileys Warrior 40/1, Finally off the mark at Lingfield in February. 9/2, creditable second of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) 9 days ago. Has good chance on form from the same mark switched to turf with Murphy booked. Clear second at Wolverhampton last week and she's a big player if she can repeat that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (200/1 -3536%) Triple Nickle |
200/1(-3536%) | (7) Triple Nickle 200/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. 4/1, respectable second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) 47 days ago. Career-low mark back on the level. Runner-up over hurdles last twice and could be dangerous back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (200/1 -506%) Sky Dancer |
200/1(-506%) | (5) Sky Dancer 200/1, 80/1, first run since leaving Matt Crawley when ninth of 10 in handicap at Chepstow (10f, good) 23 days ago, missing break. Significantly up in trip. Tough to assess at present. Inconsistent maiden who was tailed off on her stable debut last month; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (100/1 -2400%) Grifter |
100/1(-2400%) | (1) Grifter 100/1, Thirteen runs since sole success in 2022. 18/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Beverley (12.1f, good to firm) 15 days ago, slowly away. Step back up trip will help. Record of 1-28 but he's run respectably in both runs this season and could be in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BAILEYS WARRIOR finished clear of the third when filling the runner-up spot in this grade at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and she competes off the same mark here. The booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye and she could prove hard to beat on her return to turf. Hiccups was third over 1m3f at Carlisle on his latest outing and he looks an interesting contender on his first attempt at this trip, while Mujid is another to take seriously.
BAILEYS WARRIOR hasn't raced on turf since 2021 but she arrives in excellent order and the booking of Oisin Murphy adds further lustre to her claims. Mujid is pretty reliable at this level, while Anna of Saxony could be the potential improver now handicapping up in trip.
Preference is for BAILEYS WARRIOR, who was a clear second at Wolverhampton last week and is a big player if she can repeat that form.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (200/1 -2567%) Out Of Sight |
200/1(-2567%) | (1) Out Of Sight 200/1, 2/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Nottingham (10.2f, heavy). Off 11 months. Has been on the sidelines for 12 months and he's probably best watched on comeback. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CITY ESCAPE recorded a double over this C&D last autumn and can race off a 6lb lower mark than when last successful. A recent third at Wolverhampton suggests a return to winning ways is imminent, and she's preferred to Jimmy Mark. The latter scored here a fortnight ago and should go well again despite a 4lb rise, while Dappled Light could also figure if staying this extra distance having won a classified race over a mile at this venue when last seen.
CITY ESCAPE went close off this mark at Wolverhampton recently and looks ready to strike with Oisin Murphy an eye-catching booking. Alyara bounced back to form returned to this trip when just denied at Bath last week and is next best ahead of recent course winners Dappled Light and Jimmy Mark.
The vote goes to CITY ESCAPE (nap), who went close at Wolverhampton ten days ago and now returns to the scene of her last two wins.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
AMPHIUS stands out on his second at Doncaster in May, where Harry Charlton's colt found only Indelible, a subsequent runner-up in Listed company, too good and that looks strong form in this context. Prophet's Path made a moderate debut at Newmarket but improvement is expected from him, while the likes of Sugar Road, Blue Jade and the selection's stable companion Arolla are all newcomers to note.
AMPHIUS backed up his encouraging debut effort with a good second at Doncaster in May and remains with potential. He can get off the mark. The main danger may come from one of the newcomers, with Arolla and Blue Jade of particular interest.
Harry Charlton's AMPHIUS sets a high standard on his close second at Doncaster in May and should be hard to beat.

100/1(-3536%) | (4) Calm Waters 100/1, 2 wins from 4 runs this year. 11/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at this C&D (good) 14 days ago, comfortably on top at the line. Must be respected. Made it 2-4 in handicaps with a comfortable success over C&D last month; big player again. |

5th (5) (350/1 -6264%) Cogsworth |
350/1(-6264%) | (5) Cogsworth 350/1, Latest win at Brighton in May. Fourth of 6 in handicap at Brighton (7f, good to firm, 5/2) 8 days ago. One to consider. Held in hat-trick bid latest but this new trip looks worth exploring; not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WORRALS finished second when upped to 1m2f at Lingfield, but failed to threaten winner on that occasion and Ralph Beckett's filly will appreciate this return to a mile. Calm Waters has won two of her last three starts, having scored over C&D a fortnight ago, and she can make her presence felt once again despite a further 5lb rise. King's Scholar is worth noting on his handicap bow, but both Cogsworth and Imperial Express have something to prove off their current marks.
All 5 need considering with IMPERIAL EXPRESS shading the vote down in class. Calm Waters resumed winning ways with a bit in hand over C&D 2 weeks ago and is next best.
Top of the list is CALM WATERS, who made it 2-4 in handicaps with her comfortable success over C&D two weeks ago.
Ths is the racecard key.
