11:45 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Star Legend notched a second victory at this course when scoring over an extended 2m7f 10 days ago. However, a 7lb penalty and a quick turnaround will make life tougher and the unexposed JACKELINE makes more appeal. Seamus Mullins' mare opened her account at the third time of asking in handicap company at Hereford last month and a 3lb rise could prove to be lenient. Jack The Savage is also noted.

A case can be made for a few of these but TARA ITI rates just the pick of the weights so is taken to gain a deserved victory and end a run of second placings. Recent Hereford scorer Jackeline could emerge as the main danger, although Bigz Belief, Star Legend and Jack The Savage can all have a say too in this competitive handicap.

Winless since June 2023 but running well in defeat of late, TARA ITI can thwart recent course scorer Star Legend's follow-up bid.

12:15 Fakenham Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having shaped better than the bare form when weakening into fourth at Leicester last month, it could be worth chancing GAZETTE BOURGEOISE on the back of a wind procedure. The reapplication of blinkers instead of cheekpieces may also aid her cause. The biggest threat may emerge from Lady Jago, who is returning to her last winning distance. Market support for Micks Jet on her chasing bow would be interesting too.

All of these arrive with something to prove but at least LADY JAGO remains with potential in this sphere so she gets the vote. Gazette Bourgeoise is feared most off a career-low mark.

Assuming the jumping holds, LADY JAGO can be taken to confirm November's Warwick superiority over Cluain Aodha.

12:50 Fakenham Maiden Hurdle (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Although she was underwhelming when coming home in 11th in the EBF Mares Final at Newbury in March last year, LINDY REILLY was a bit too keen over that extended 2m4f trip. The Dan Skelton-trained mare is worth another chance dropping to maiden company over 2m. Zafaan offered plenty to work with on his third-placed hurdles bow at Southwell last month and is feared most, ahead of Ilitch.

ZAFAAN very much exceeded expectations when third of 13 on his recent Southwell hurdles debut and, in an ordinary-looking maiden, a reproduction of that form could be enough to see him come out on top. Lindy Reilly disappointed on her Newbury handicap debut when last seen but had shown promise prior to that and is respected back in calmer waters, while Ilitch needs a market check now setting out over hurdles for a yard which has a fine record at this track.

Should he settle better, BERKSHIRE LAD could be the one to capitalise if Lindy Reilly still can't get back on track.

13:25 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BARRA BLUE looked a different proposition when stepped up to 2m4f on her handicap bow at Leicester and a 6lb rise is unlikely to anchor Fergal O'Brien's mare. Malago Rose is worth another chance after disappointing on her first run for Neil Mulholland at Ludlow, while Hurst Hill could have more to offer after her third at Fontwell last month.

Having improved when scoring on her handicap bow at Leicester, BARRA BLUE is taken to follow up here with a 6 lb rise in the weights unlikely to be enough to stop in her tracks. Lady's Present showed some spark on her second run following a lengthy absence and she is second choice ahead of Hurst Hill and Malago Rose.

There was definite improvement from BARRA BLUE (nap) at Leicester and she is taken to back that up with another win.

14:00 Fakenham Handicap Chase (Class 5) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HARDY BUCK was runner-up here over hurdles just before Christmas and the combination of first-time cheekpieces and a switch back to the larger obstacles may see the gelding go one better. One Last Glance has to enter calculations based on his Ffos Las second in November, while Birdman Bob appears best of the remainder after finishing fourth over timber at Plumpton when last seen.

ONE LAST GLANCE surely has a race of this nature within his grasp if cutting out the mistakes and he earns the vote on the back of his Ffos Las second 6 weeks ago with cheekpieces now enlisted. Hardy Buck shaped encouragingly over hurdles for his new yard recently and is a player with a repeat back over larger obstacles. Birdman Bob is another not ruled out.

Trappy, but perhaps BIRDMAN BOB can prove this course a better fit than the Exeter of his chase debut. Brother Boris is next best.

14:35 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

SECRET DES DIEUX made every yard of the running over an extended 2m3f at Hereford on his latest outing and now makes his handicap debut. James Owen's charge could have lots more to offer on only his fourth start in this sphere and can defy his opening mark of 118. Bluegrass accounted for his nearest rival by just over four lengths at Huntingdon last time and should go well off 6lb higher. Godot is another to keep an eye on.

SECRET DES DIEUX represents a powerful yard and should be the type to take this step up in class in his stride, having looked a useful prospect when scoring at Hereford last time. Stablemate Hecouldbetheone is respected in a first-time visor, as is course-specialist Bluegrass, while Balboa isn't dismissed now up in trip.

This looks good opportunity for ROYAL WAY, who has been keeping useful company and now drops in class.

(3) Court Cian 13/8, Still on the up for his current yard, having won easily at Uttoxeter (20f) in November, he lost nothing in defeat when supported in the market and only just denied when second of 8 at Doncaster (19.4f) 19 days ago. Shaped like a step up in trip would suit that day and big player now tackling 3m.
Nearly followed up Uttoxeter win at Doncaster (2m3f, good to soft) latest; up 3lb; player..

(5) Ted's Friend 7/1, Has run with credit last two runs (ridden positively), latest when third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Hereford (21.7f, good) 50 days ago. Should run his race but place claims might be his best hope in a stronger contest.
Consistent on his last three starts and is a likely player if able to hold that form..

(2) Morfee 16/1, At least as good as ever having another try at chasing last season, making it 2 wins from his final 3 starts when successful at Plumpton (25.7f, good to soft) in January. However two starts this season have been disappointing, pulled up over fences and hurdles, and something to prove now.
Pulled up on both starts this term and reverts to hurdles with a bit to prove..

C&D winner; each-way claims on best form but needs to be much better than last two starts..

(7) Flemen's Tipple 10/1, Serial runner-up over hurdles and finally got his head in front over the fences at Huntingdon (23.6f, good to firm) in May. Disappointed in two starts after (including seasonal comeback) but shaped better in first time tongue-tie over C&D (third of 9) 10 days ago. This looks a tougher test today.

15:10 Fakenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MAGICAL ARTHUR continues to be in brilliant form after once again finishing in the top two at Southwell last time, and he is only 2lb higher for that second-placed effort. Jennie Candish's charge sports first-time blinkers, which might eke out further improvement. Court Cian hit the woodwork in this grade at Doncaster latest and should give a good account off a 3lb higher rating. Of the remainder, Flemen's Tipple makes the most appeal.

With the stable among the winners and signs of encouragement last time out, it might pay to be with FOR GINA at a track where she has a good record. Court Cian is unexposed at this trip and is a big danger, while it would be foolish to discount Magical Arthur who has been the model of consistency.

The suggestion is COURT CIAN, who now looks to be improving and may be able to get back to winning ways despite a 3lb rise.
