14/1(-65%) | (5) Duplantis 14/1, Once-raced colt. Fifth of 9 in maiden at this C&D (good to firm, 7/1) on debut 7 days ago, not ideally placed. Open to progress. Bumped at the start but made no impression in a C&D maiden a week ago. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (18/1 +36%) Butterfly Bush |
18/1(+36%) | (10) Butterfly Bush 18/1, Foaled February 14. €25,000 yearling, Kessaar filly. Dam, maiden (stayed 1m), out of smart 9.5f/1¼m winner Caponata. Will probably find a few too good. A 25,000Euros yearling is worth a market check. |

40/1(-21%) | (7) Inawe 40/1, Foaled April 20. €31,000 yearling, Exceed And Excel filly. Watch the betting for clues. Unsold for 32,000Gns as a 2yo; by a top sire and of some interest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KANDOO has plenty in her favour provided the daughter of Kessaar handles the faster ground. The form of her Navan third has been well advertised by the winner subsequently but the obvious concern is that the race was run on soft. From a low draw, the Jack Davison-trained filly should be able to get a prominent early position around this tight track. High Morale has reached the frame on both his starts to date but doesn't seem an obvious one to drop back in trip. Perhaps, from his draw, he will go forward and try turn this into a test of stamina. Byzantine Express, who ran a big race at Listowel earlier this month, has plenty experience and should be capable of reaching the placings at the very least.
There were more encouraging signs from KANDOO at Navan last time and she could be the answer. High Morale is feared most, though there are several others likely to take hand in the finish, too, notably Miss Black Jack and Duplantis.
Though he was disappointing on second start at Roscommon last time, HIGH MORALE should be suited by dropping to this trip.

2/1(+27%) | (2) Aussie Girl 2/1, Winner at Sligo in April. Good third of 15 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good, 16/1) 20 days ago. Shortlist material. Off the mark at Sligo in April but the race didn't produce winners; others on better marks. |

12/1(-20%) | (12) Californiagoldrush 12/1, 8/1, good fifth of 15 in handicap at this C&D (good) 15 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Beaten 2l when 5th over C&D latest; needs a step forward now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) (7/1 +72%) Havana Notion |
7/1(+72%) | (14) Havana Notion 7/1, 10/3, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at Dundalk (7f) 84 days ago. Others more persuasive. Consistent on AW when last seen but this looks tough back on turf from 1lb out of h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6.5/1 -44%) Blanc De Noir |
6.5/1(-44%) | (4) Blanc De Noir 6.5/1, 20/1, career best when winning 21-runner handicap at the Curragh (6.3f, good) 9 days ago. Stayed on well when getting off the mark latest and 5lb rise is manageable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (5.5/1 +45%) One For Mum |
5.5/1(+45%) | (11) One For Mum 5.5/1, 5/1, creditable third of 14 in handicap at Limerick (6.7f, good to soft) 2 days ago. Merits consideration. Has turned her form around and only beaten half a length over C&D latest; poorly drawn. |

16/1(-33%) | (13) She's Local 16/1, Respectable eighth of 15 in handicap (20/1) at this C&D (good) 15 days ago, never nearer. Is 0-8; promise at 2 but not as good this term; has her work cut out here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (9/1 -50%) Little Keilee |
9/1(-50%) | (7) Little Keilee 9/1, 7/1, career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 47 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Won at 8th attempt on testing ground in April; can be involved if handling conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (66/1 -313%) Vikki Wall |
66/1(-313%) | (10) Vikki Wall 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 6 in minor event (200/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 7 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Plenty to like about her debut run but form didn't work out and she's struggled since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (28/1 +0%) Wayside Lady |
28/1(+0%) | (8) Wayside Lady 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 10 in maiden at Cork (8f, good, 28/1) 30 days ago. Down in trip. Makes handicap debut. Difficult ask. Promising return but didn't build on that latest; interesting dropping in trip on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (14/1 -17%) Freedom Falls |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Freedom Falls 14/1, Respectable fourth of 8 in maiden at Listowel (6.3f, good, 7/2) 12 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Needs to raise game. 0-6; went close over this trip last term; probably needed latest run; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BLANC DE NOIR should be progressing quickly enough to follow up his recent win at the Curragh. The Jessica Harrington-trained colt won with a bit in hand last time and doesn't look overburdened with a 5lb rise. As a hold up horse, he will need to get the breaks from his inside draw but the Showcasing colt should be finishing better than most. Little Keilee, who overcame a wide berth to win easily at Sligo in April, should be a live contender. Dylan Browne McMonagle retains the ride on the Ciaran Murphy-trained filly on this occasion. Aussie Girl takes a big drop in class here having finished third at the Curragh last time. She won't find it easy to make all in this field but expect to see her take a prominent position from the outset.
AUSSIE GIRL didn't do much wrong when third of 15 at the Curragh last time and she is taken to strike here, perhaps at the chief expense of Californiagoldrush and Freedom Falls.
This can go the way of VANGUARD STAR (nap) who shaped well over 5f and should relish both a return to 6f and quicker ground

12/1(+45%) | (6) Ampeson 12/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Dundalk in December. Seventh of 8 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 16/1) 7 days ago. Others make more appeal.

3.2/1(+4%) | (4) Ice Cold In Alex 3.2/1, Creditable 2½ lengths second of 17 to Verhoyen in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to soft, 25/1) 21 days ago. Might well go one better in this less-competitive affair.
5th (1) (8/1 +64%) Harry's Bar |
8/1(+64%) | (1) Harry's Bar 8/1, Fourteen wins from 45 Flat runs. Latest win at Dundalk in February. Fifth of 6 in handicap (10/1) at Chester (5.1f, heavy) 36 days ago, possibly amiss. Hard to fancy on the back of that.
6th (3) (4.5/1 -125%) Verhoyen |
4.5/1(-125%) | (3) Verhoyen 4.5/1, Improved on recent efforts to win 17-runner handicap (11/2) at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) 21 days ago by 2½ lengths from Ice Cold In Alex, keeping on well.
7th (5) (3.2/1 +29%) Daamberdiplomat |
3.2/1(+29%) | (5) Daamberdiplomat 3.2/1, Very good fifth of 15 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good, 25/1) 20 days ago. Yard in good form. Merits respect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MASTER MATT can win for the first time since joining the Michael Halford and Tracey Collins yard. The seven-year-old shaped really encouragingly when second behind a well handicapped horse over this course and distance last week. With doubts about a number of his opponents here, the Slade Power gelding looks the most solid option. Verhoyen, who returned to form with an impressive success at the Curragh last month, is well drawn for a horse that likes to make the running. It would be a mistake for the opposition to allow the Michael Grassick-trained gelding an easy lead. However, he has never won from a mark this high and may just prefer 7f at this stage of his career. Ice Cold In Alex needs to be delivered with a perfectly timed run from off the pace but Jamie Powell has already demonstrated he is capable of doing just that.
ICE COLD IN ALEX produced a big effort when second to Verhoyen and he's worth a chance to reverse form with that rival in this lesser contest. Master Matt is also worthy of interest.
Now 7lb better off with Verhoyen from their Curragh clash over 7f last time, ICE COLD IN ALEX could turn the tables on that rival.

1st (4) (4.5/1 +31%) Vernet |
4.5/1(+31%) | (4) Vernet 4.5/1, Fairly useful filly. Sixth of 10 in handicap (11/1) at the Curragh (8f, good to soft) on return 21 days ago. Yard in good form. Work to do. The drop back to this trip should suit but she has a bit to find on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1.5/1 +20%) Monaasib |
1.5/1(+20%) | (1) Monaasib 1.5/1, Useful gelding. 16/1, bit below form 3½ lengths sixth of 11 to Cosmic Vega in listed race at Naas (7f, good to firm) 26 days ago. This is easier and he has a decent shout. Hasn't won since a 2yo but faced stiff tasks; solid sort has race-fitness on his side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2/1 -45%) Pretreville |
2/1(-45%) | (2) Pretreville 2/1, Smart gelding. Won twice last year. Front runner with a great record fresh and this could be a good opening. Dual Group 3 winner the one to best if at his best but has been off nearly a year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4.5/1 +10%) Affogato |
4.5/1(+10%) | (3) Affogato 4.5/1, Useful filly. C&D winner. 16/1, seventh of 10 in handicap at Gowran (7f, good) 11 days ago. Won this last year but she's struggled since. Won this last year; soundly beaten in a handicap last time; has to rediscover her best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Group 3 winner PRETREVILLE appears to have been found a nice opportunity to make a successful reappearance. Although now approaching the veteran stages of his career, the nine-time winner showed that he still had much to offer with a series of good runs in top company last season. A small field such as this will really suit the Ado McGuinness-trained eight-year-old who is adept at making the running. On official ratings, he is easily the best in this race. Monaasib won twice as a juvenile but has failed to add to his tally since then. However, the five-year-old gelding has run some big races in better company that he faces here. Course and distance winner Affogato needs to improve but remains relatively lightly raced so isn't one to totally discount.
PRETREVILLE has a good record fresh and this could be a good opening if he's ready to go. Monaasib might be the danger.
MONAASIB never fulfilled the promise he showed as a youngster but can claim a first win since his 2yo days.

6.5/1(-30%) | (7) Vera Verto 6.5/1, 12/1, ninth of 14 in novice chase at Kilbeggan (19.1f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Fairly useful on the Flat, respectable on last Flat outing. Not taken lightly. Better known over jumps these days but sole Flat outing for this yard was okay. |

16/1(-33%) | (1) Cozone 16/1, No impact in maiden hurdles last twice, but he is fairly useful on the Flat, including a 2m Dundalk win in November. Never won off a mark this high, though. Very best Flat form at 2m; effective at this trip but mark reflects his consistency. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (3.5/1 +71%) Dartan |
3.5/1(+71%) | (2) Dartan 3.5/1, Notched Flat wins at Dundalk (2m) and Navan (13f) in March 2022. Completed a hat-trick when landing a maiden hurdle in May of last year but not seen again until well held in a Punchestown handicap hurdle 7 weeks ago. Entitled to have needed latest outing; feasibly treated if back to his best Flat form. |

8th (6) (18/1 -29%) Dalvey |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Dalvey 18/1, Sixth of 16 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (15.8f, good to soft, 33/1) 24 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Fairly useful on the all weather, poor on last Flat run. 6th over timber latest; form dipped on last 2 Flat outings; good mark if he bounces back. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BLACK HAWK EAGLE, who has looked a different proposition since returning from a winter break, can record his second win of the campaign. The Noel Meade-trained five-year-old easily landed a Navan handicap on his reappearance in March and showed that he could cope with the subsequent hike when going close at the Curragh last month. Dropping down in grade now, he should prove difficult to beat. Dartan was in rude health at the end of last season, winning his final two starts for Matthew Smith. Fitness is seldom a concern with runners from this stable, so the former German trained six-year-old has to be a serious threat. Towards the foot of the handicap, the eye is drawn to Pretty Soldier having his first start for new connections. A five-time winner in Germany, he could be well handicapped in this country.
BLACK HAWK EAGLE is building up a very solid record in handicaps on the Flat. He may well have won again at the Curragh last time but for meeting trouble at a crucial stage and can gain compensation now. British Flat winner Night Sparkle has been in good form over hurdles since joining Michael O'Callaghan and might give the selection most to think about ahead of Gavin Cromwell's Vera Verto, who arrives fit from jumping and was placed on her most recent Flat start.
Arriving on the back of a career best at the Curragh last month, BLACK HAWK EAGLE, should give a good account and he's still unexposed

RAPPAREE CHAMP should be more streetwise here having caught the eye when finishing third at Sligo on his racecourse debut. On that occasion, the Churchill colt lost his position before staying on in eye catching fashion to reach the frame. With the benefit of that experience, it would be disappointing if he can't make his presence felt in this ordinary maiden. Golden Temple has an official rating of 78 after seven starts for trainer Noel Meade. First-time blinkers may help bring about some improvement but he is vulnerable to a more unexposed rival in this company. Ravshan, a half-brother to three winners, is a debutant who deserves close consideration on his first start for the Michael Halford and Tracey Collins yard.
RAPPAREE CHAMP very much caught the eye on last month's Sligo debut and can strike at the second time of asking. The selection's stablemate Head of State also showed promise at Roscommon last time and is next best ahead of Noel Meade's Golden Temple in a maiden where it's hard to make a case for many.
RAPPAREE CHAMP appeals most after an eyecatching run on debut and he would not have to improve a great deal to take this contest

11th (6) (28/1 +44%) Beer With The Boys |
28/1(+44%) | (6) Beer With The Boys 28/1, 22/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (16f). Off 6 months. Down in trip. First run for yard after leaving C. Moore. Visor back on. Out of form on AW in winter; turf may help but likely to need this on yard debut. |

12th (5) (80/1 -60%) Shamad |
80/1(-60%) | (5) Shamad 80/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2019. Cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, fell in handicap hurdle (18/1) at Limerick (16f, good). Off 11 months. Good on last Flat run. Pulled up in last 3 point starts; trip/ground fine but questions to answer at this stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (4/1 +47%) The Gossiper |
4/1(+47%) | (1) The Gossiper 4/1, Promising individual. Useful winner at 17f in bumpers. 11/4, bit below form eighth of 19 in handicap at Navan (13f, heavy) 55 days ago. Remains with potential in this sphere. Smart bumper sort but hasn't translated that to level; quicker ground may help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Three-time bumper winner THE GOSSIPER should be difficult to beat now that he drops into the bottom grade for the first time. The son of Dylan Thomas handled good ground last summer, so might find improvement now that he has his first run on the Flat under such conditions. Recent course and distance winner Out On Friday has to have every chance despite a 14lb higher mark. The Philip Byrne-trained seven-year-old has won off similar ratings in the past and showed that he was in rude health when readily accounting for the opposition last time. Barrys Rock remains a maiden after 17 starts but couldn't have gone much closer than when beaten a head at this track earlier in the month. It is surely only a matter of time before the Haatef gelding makes a well deserved breakthrough.
NO HASSLE shaped well when second at Cork recently and she's worth a chance to go one better at the expense of Barrys Rock, who was runner-up in a competitive event here last time.
NO HASSLE was only narrowly denied at Cork last month where she would have won if she had kept straight and she can go one better
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
