1st (6) (3/1 +10%) Sainte Dona |
3/1(+10%) | (6) Sainte Dona 3/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Creditable 35 lengths second of 5 to Hauturiere in Grade 2 chase at Limerick (22.6f, heavy, 11/1) 42 days ago. Respected with her sights lowered. Good chance based on second over an extended 3m at this venue three starts back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/5 +40%) Jumping Jet |
6/5(+40%) | (2) Jumping Jet 6/5, Fairly useful hurdler. Third all 3 starts since switching to fences. Leading contender for top stable. Faced a tough task here last time, managed a solid third at Down Royal in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 -43%) Missiee |
10/1(-43%) | (5) Missiee 10/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Respectable fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle (15/2) at Cork (20f, heavy) 32 days ago. Makes chase debut. Claims if taking to this new discipline. 4-19 over hurdles, fair fourth at Cork on latest, lacks chasing experience.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (8) (4/1 +27%) Something Abouther |
4/1(+27%) | (8) Something Abouther 4/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Latest win in hurdle at Punchestown in June. Respectable fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (21.8f, good to soft, 13/8) 145 days ago. Makes chase debut. Useful form over hurdles, stout staying type who could feature here if taking to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (13/2 -117%) Soldaro |
13/2(-117%) | (7) Soldaro 13/2, Fair winner at 19f over hurdles. Respectable third of 9 in novice chase (17/2) at this course (16.2f, heavy) 14 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Should be thereabouts. Finished behind Sainte Dona at Thurles, held by Jumping Jet based on Down Royal clash. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (200/1 -100%) Merrion Gate |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Merrion Gate 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. Twelfth of 13 in novice chase at Thurles (20.5f, soft, 200/1) 111 days ago. Struggled in point-to-points, no sign of ability in two racecourse appearances. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This looks like a winnable opportunity for SAINTE DONA after some stiff tasks. The Saint des Saints mare was no match for Hauturiere in Grade 2 company at Limerick over Christmas but it was still a good effort to take black type there and this is a drop in class. She has also been second to Potters Party over three miles here in November and her stamina will be an asset in testing conditions. Jumping Jet is another with some solid placed efforts over fences and she looks like a likely danger. The handicapper has Soldaro narrowly the top-rated of those with marks and she is another for the shortlist having been third here on her last visit. Jumping has been an issue with her, though.
JUMPING JET has bumped into some useful sorts in her previous chases and might prove the answer to this opening maiden for the Gordon Elliott/Jack Kennedy pairing. Limerick Grade 2 runner-up Sainte Dona is second choice ahead of Soldaro.
A distant third behind a Willie Mullins pair last time, JUMPING JET may prove best in a race in which several have a similar chance

1st (5) (11/10 +41%) Evies Vladimir |
11/10(+41%) | (5) Evies Vladimir 11/10, 1 win from 3 runs this season. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, good second of 9 in handicap chase at this course (21.2f, heavy, 5/1) 14 days ago. Leading claims. Progressive in three starts after a long absence, 8lb rise for two seconds is a negative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -31%) Where's Frankie |
7/2(-31%) | (1) Where's Frankie 7/2, 5/2, career best when winning 9-runner handicap chase at this course (26f, heavy) 11 days ago, driven clear. Should remain very competitive up 9 lb. Has recorded all four wins at this venue, the latest 11 days ago, up 9lb but every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/2 +56%) Politicise |
7/2(+56%) | (7) Politicise 7/2, 15/2, respectable sixth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Naas (19.1f, soft) 26 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. 0-12 chase record is a concern, in fair form over hurdles lately, promising 7lb claimer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -17%) Favori Logique |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Favori Logique 14/1, Creditable fourth of 11 in handicap chase (5/1) at Downpatrick (23.5f, good to soft) in June 2022 but not seen since. Betting perhaps the best guide given the length of absence. Solid place form at this venue in 2021, ran only once in 2022 and absent for a long time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 -29%) Deployed |
9/1(-29%) | (4) Deployed 9/1, Fifth of 8 in minor event chase (50/1) at Down Royal (16.5f, heavy) 15 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap chase debut. One to keep an eye on in the betting. Returned from a three-year absence in October, not much encouragement from four chase runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (14/1 +13%) Magnium |
14/1(+13%) | (8) Magnium 14/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2018. First run since leaving John Patrick Ryan when fell in handicap chase at Naas (20f, soft, 25/1) 87 days ago. Early days with this top stable. Needs monitoring in the betting. Former smart hurdler rated 135 at this peak, chase form has been dismal in recent seasons. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It was a strong race in which IDEAL DU TARBET was fourth to Falco Blitz at Thurles last time and he looks capable of landing a race off his current mark. The Cian Collins-trained gelding was half a length behind Mount Frisco, who has gone on to win over hurdles since. That race also had three rivals coming into it with last-time-out wins to their names. Where's Frankie was a good winner over a marathon trip of 3m2f here 11 days ago. He has to be respected but a drop in distance and a 9lb hike makes things tougher. Evies Vladimir is holding his form well but has been creeping up the handicap as a result. He's another for the shortlist.
EVIES VLADIMIR is a young chaser heading in the right direction and is the one to beat. Recent course scorer Where's Frankie may provide the chief threat unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Gordon Elliott's Deployed on his rather belated handicap debut.
This is a weaker race than the one in which IDEal DU TARBET was fourth at Thurles and he gets the vote to score in first-time blinkers

1st (4) (7/1 -27%) Velvet Elvis |
7/1(-27%) | (4) Velvet Elvis 7/1, Useful chaser. Course winner. 16/1, pulled up in handicap chase at this course (29.6f, soft) 66 days ago. First run for yard after leaving T. Gibney. Worth monitoring in the betting. Beat the useful Minella Crooner in this race last year, first start now for Gavin Cromwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/1 -50%) Eklat De Rire |
9/1(-50%) | (3) Eklat De Rire 9/1, Smart chaser. 8/1, eighth of 11 in handicap chase at Navan (20.4f, heavy) 60 days ago. Claims if he can bounce back to his best after a break. Lightly raced for a horse of his age, three chase wins, struggled on reappearance at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (2) (14/1 -115%) Run Wild Fred |
14/1(-115%) | (2) Run Wild Fred 14/1, Smart chaser. Pulled up in handicap chase (28/1) at Leopardstown (24.4f, heavy) 42 days ago. This is a less intense scenario, so he should be able to make more of an impact. Best of three runs this season when fifth in the Munster National, hard to be confident. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (1/4 +56%) Corbetts Cross |
1/4(+56%) | (1) Corbetts Cross 1/4, Promising type. Good 6 lengths second of 6 to Grangeclare West in Neville Hotels (Fort Leney) Novices' Chase (13/8) at Leopardstown (24.4f, soft) 40 days ago. Open to further improvement and should take all the beating. Course winner before second in Grade 1 at Leopardstown, has an ideal opportunity. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Just four go to post here and it looks like a nice opportunity for CORBETTS CROSS. The Gamut gelding was no match for easy winner Grangeclare West in Grade 1 company at Leopardstown over Christmas but remains a nice staying prospect in his own right. He has a few options at Cheltenham next month and this is an ideal prep. His rivals have questions to answer in this. Velvet Elvis won the race last year but pulled up on his sole outing this year. He makes his first start for Gavin Cromwell now. Run Wild Fred also pulled up in the Paddy Power last time but did run well when fifth in the Munster National back in October and would be a big player at anywhere near his best. Eklat De Rire has been lightly raced in recent years and looks best watched.
CORBETTS CROSS has made a positive start to chasing and, up against more exposed rivals, he's fully expected to get back to winning ways. Run Wild Fred and Eklat de Rire could both trouble him on their best form.
This should be relatively straightforward for high-class novice CORBETTS CROSS since his three rivals have questions to answer

1st (2) (3/1 +10%) Miss Pronunciation |
3/1(+10%) | (2) Miss Pronunciation 3/1, Promising sort. Career best when winning 16-runner handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.5f, soft, 10/3) 83 days ago by 1½ lengths from Lazer Wolf, pushed out. Worth considering in hat-trick bid. Left all previous form behind in 2 h'cap hurdles this term and form looks solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (15/8 +77%) Lazer Wolf |
15/8(+77%) | (5) Lazer Wolf 15/8, Fairly useful hurdler. Run probably best excused when twelfth of 23 in handicap hurdle (6/1) at Leopardstown (2m) 43 days ago, not lasting home having raced prominently. Better showing expected. 0-9; too keen at Leopardstown latest but some solid form previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (14/1 -17%) Starman |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Starman 14/1, Fair hurdler. 3 wins from 15 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Limerick in December. 6/1, fifth of 7 in novice hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy) 32 days ago. Gained 3rd hurdle win at Limerick; not as good latest, shaping like he may want further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (5/1 +58%) Don't Talk |
5/1(+58%) | (7) Don't Talk 5/1, Back-to-back winner of handicaps here around the turn of the year and produced another good display when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy) 13 days ago. A little more needed here. Thwarted in his hat-trick bid at Gowran last month; this looks like a tough assignment. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (4/1 +11%) Purse Price |
4/1(+11%) | (8) Purse Price 4/1, Fair hurdler. Career best when winning 10-runner novice hurdle (7/4) at Thurles (15.6f, heavy) 17 days ago, clear when jumping left last. This tougher but she comes here with yard in good form. Bolted up in maiden hurdle at Thurles latest and big player on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (200/1 -100%) Camino Mission |
200/1(-100%) | (6) Camino Mission 200/1, Once-raced maiden. Eighth of 15 in novice hurdle (150/1) at this C&D (heavy) on NH debut 14 days ago, weakening straight. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Showed nothing when tailed off on hurdle debut a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (17/2 -6%) El Champo |
17/2(-6%) | (1) El Champo 17/2, Fairly useful hurdler. 3 wins from 10 runs this season, the latest at Galway (2m) in October. 6/1, fourth of 7 in novice hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy) 32 days ago. Should give it a good go once more. Won 2 h'cap hurdles at Galway in October; as good as ever when 4th latest; can be in mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LARK IN THE MORNIN was lightly raced on the Flat but showed a good level of ability and has been placed in two of his three starts in this discipline. He takes on older rivals for the first time and his opening mark appears to give him every chance. Miss Pronunciation won twice on testing ground earlier in the winter and returns from a break to bid for a hat-trick. She had Lazer Wolf back in second when scoring at Punchestown in November but that rival, who reopposes on 5lb better terms, may be helped by the fitting of a tongue-tie. Glen Kiln stuck to his task well when chasing home a short-priced favourite over a longer trip here last month and is another to consider.
A low-mileage winner on the Flat, LARK IN THE MORNIN matched the pick of his hurdles form and may well have finished closer still but for a late error when third at Punchestown 23 days ago, noted finishing with running left. Open to further improvement, he's very much of interest in receipt of weight all round. Miss Pronunciation has returned a much-improved model and is a big threat in her hat-trick bid. Lazer Wolf is also in the mix.
PURSE PRICE took a major step forward at Thurles last time and she can continue to progress

1st (12) (9/1 -80%) Toll Stone |
9/1(-80%) | (12) Toll Stone 9/1, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat. Twice-raced maiden. 50/1, ninth of 18 in juvenile hurdle at Punchestown (16.2f, soft) 23 days ago. Stable having good spell. Useful on Flat; hasn't shown much in 2 hurdle starts; market support would be significant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (12/1 +14%) Roboreti |
12/1(+14%) | (10) Roboreti 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Tenth of 22 in novice hurdle (22/1) at Cork (16f, heavy) 32 days ago, going in snatches. Booking of Gilligan a plus. Second on debut was promising but poor efforts twice since; Mordor is first-string. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/8 -15%) Mordor |
11/8(-15%) | (8) Mordor 11/8, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat. Twelfth of 18 in juvenile hurdle at Punchestown (16.2f, soft, 3/1) 23 days ago, possibly amiss. Shaped well on hurdling debut and worth another chance to open his account in this sphere. Highly promising hurdle debut and had an excuse last time; can resume progress. |

6th (13) (16/1 +20%) Noble Hilltop |
16/1(+20%) | (13) Noble Hilltop 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, 25¼ lengths sixth of 9 to Wodhooh in juvenile hurdle at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft, 125/1) 68 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Poor form in trio of outings so far; wears first-time blinkers. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (33/1 -106%) Inthenickoftime |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Inthenickoftime 33/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, seventh of 11 in juvenile hurdle at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) 38 days ago. Tailed off in two runs so far and more of a long term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (80/1 -300%) Rauzan |
80/1(-300%) | (9) Rauzan 80/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. 8/1, ninth of 13 in handicap at Navan (14f, good to soft). First run for yard after leaving M. Halford & T. Collins. 0-9 on the Flat; unlikely to be involved on hurdle bow for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (150/1 -200%) So Messi |
150/1(-200%) | (11) So Messi 150/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. Twice-raced maiden. Tenth of 16 in juvenile hurdle (200/1) at Naas (15.5f, soft) 10 days ago. Second on Flat debut; poor form in two hurdle outings and Walsh prefers his stablemate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (150/1 -200%) Medadthebookie |
150/1(-200%) | (7) Medadthebookie 150/1, Mondialiste gelding. Dam lightly raced on Flat. Not an obvious sort on paper. Mondialiste gelding; £1,000 yearling; dam a sprinter; not bred for this. |

12th (2) (5/4 +64%) Duke Silver |
5/4(+64%) | (2) Duke Silver 5/4, €20,000 3-y-o, Order of St George gelding. Closely related to useful hurdler San Salvador, and half-brother to dual bumper winner Roedora. Dam fair bumper winner. Makes plenty of appeal on paper. Order Of St George gelding; 20,000eur 3yo; closely related to San Salvador; check market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (6) (125/1 -525%) Leitrim Rock |
125/1(-525%) | (6) Leitrim Rock 125/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. 11/1, sixth of 11 in handicap at Yarmouth (8f, soft), not ideally placed. First run for yard after leaving William Knight. Modest Flat performer and not bred for jumps; new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MORDOR, rated in the mid-70s on the Flat, showed promise on hurdling debut when third at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting. He needs to leave behind a poor run at Punchestown but is taken to bounce back to form in what doesn't look the strongest of maidens. Toll Stone, placed in Flat maidens for Ken Condon, finished ahead of the selection when mid-division at Punchestown. Further improvement could see him involved in the finish. Firebrand ran creditably on both Flat starts in France. He hasn't sparkled at Dundalk for new connections but is an interesting hurdling debutant with Rachael Blackmore in the saddle. Duke Silver, a three-parts brother to useful hurdler San Salvador, is a newcomer to note.
MORDOR showed enough on hurdling debut to think he's capable of winning a race of this nature and, for all that he shaped as if amiss since, he's well worth another chance. Duke Silver is well bred and represents a top yard, so he's regarded as the main threat ahead of Firebrand.
There was plenty to like about MORDOR's 3rd on hurdle debut and he had an excuse when not as good since

8/13(+59%) | (2) Iris Emery 8/13, Shaped as if amiss when pulled up on bumper debut at Gowran 12 months ago but offered more back from 10 months off when third in that sphere at Naas (2m) in December. Represents a most powerful stable and she's one to consider now attentions switch to timber. Pulled up when favourite on debut and turned over when 6-4 at Naas since. |

Previous exploits in this sphere entitle her to respect. Some useful form to her name; lesser run latest when not jumping well; can resume progress. |

3rd (7) (7/2 -56%) Hey Whatever |
7/2(-56%) | (7) Hey Whatever 7/2, Fair maiden on the Flat. Twice-raced maiden over hurdles. Couldn't match debut form in this sphere when fifth of 11 in juvenile hurdle (7/1) at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) 38 days ago. Yard in good form and not discounted in receipt of weight all round. Useful Flat form; ran well when 2nd here but not as good latest. |

4th (3) (16/1 -14%) Justmadeit |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Justmadeit 16/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. First run since leaving Miss Shauna Larkin when third of 5 in minor event hurdle (28/1) at this course (17.2f, heavy) on hurdles bow 37 days ago. May be one for handicaps later on. Distant third last time was a step backwards and she's hard to recommend. |

50/1(-25%) | (4) Missy Mu 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. Sixteenth of 28 in novice hurdle (200/1) at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 43 days ago, held up and never dangerous. Can only be watched. Tailed off in two runs at triple figure odds. |

Makes hurdles debut. Unseated in a point and was tailed off in a bumper on rules debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Four-year-old HEY WHATEVER gets a lot of weight from her older rivals and may be good enough. A decent maiden on the Flat for Noel Meade, she chased home a stalemate here on hurdling debut before finishing a remote fifth at Punchestown. That wasn't a bad run, though, with the winner placed in a Grade 1 since and the third a handicap winner next time. Whimsy is of comparable ability to the selection on the level and was placed in her first three starts over hurdles. Below par at Limerick over Christmas, her rating of 115 makes her worthy of respect but the weight concession may be beyond her. Iris Emery, related to chase winners in France, ran much better on her second start in bumpers when third to a pair of geldings at Naas. Representing a red-hot trainer/jockey combination, she has to enter calculations on her first start over hurdles.
IRIS EMERY showed more than first time up (back from 10 months off) when third in a Naas bumper 55 days ago and she shades the vote to build on that now her attentions switch to hurdling. Whimsy and Hay Whatever, both boasting experience in this sphere, are expected to be firmly in the mix.
It's a clear standard that WHIMSY (nap) sets who has run some big races in defeat for her new yard and could be hard to beat

Enters calculations from a much lower hurdles mark. Made it 4-10 over fences at Limerick; not a bad run latest; should go well. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MIGHTY JEREMY won a couple of handicaps on testing ground last spring and has been running back into form lately. He was well held when fourth at Navan but a repeat of his previous run when fifth in a higher grade at this venue would give him every chance. Chosen Diamond was a chase winner in November and was challenging at the last when coming down over hurdles at Navan. He had the selection well behind at the time of his departure and will have plenty of supporters off a 2lb higher mark. Happy Dreams won a big pot over fences at Limerick over Christmas and should be capable of being competitive from a much lower hurdles mark. Storm Mahler beat a subsequent winner at Limerick to gain his third handicap win in under a year. He's a tough sort but this trip is a bit short and he has to defy a 9lb hike.
A fiendishly-competitive closer in which it could pay to side with CHOSEN DIAMOND, who looked a big threat to the front-running winner when crashing out at Navan last month so Edward Cawley's 8-y-o can make amends at the expense of Storm Mahler, who showed a good attitude to notch a second win of the season at Limerick over Christmas. Happy Dreams, C'est Rien and Mighty Jeremy can do battle for the minor placings.
HAPPY DREAMS shades the vote having run some solid races over fences of late; should be a threat from lower hurdle mark
Ths is the racecard key.
