The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GONE FOR TEA was outclassed when last seen in Grade 3 company behind Brighterdaysahead at Down Royal in November but looks up to winning a race of this standard on previous form. The Champs Elysees mare had been runner-up on her hurdling debut over course and distance previously and that track form is a big plus. Valsorpresa is capable of better than she showed on her final outing of last season and could be a danger now with title chasing Jack Kennedy taking the mount. One Night Standard has shown promise in a couple of strong maiden hurdles this spring and is a potential improver.
GONE FOR TEA remains with potential in this sphere back from 5 months off and can strike. The returning Valsorpresa and Cape Bridgewater are a couple of the other likely players.
GONE FOR TEA is a bumper winner that will relish a drop in class and she showed she can be effective over C&D when 2nd in September

12/1(+64%) | (4) Tina Meehan 12/1, Bumper winner. Tenth of 15 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, soft, 50/1) 54 days ago. Third in a Sligo maiden hurdle last year; well below that twice recently. |

|U| (3) (66/1 +34%) Mille Miglia |
66/1(+34%) | (3) Mille Miglia 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Creditable seventh of 14 in handicap (28/1) at Dundalk (16f) 31 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Flat winner is rated only 81 after five hurdle starts and lots to find in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A couple of the big yards look to have a very strong hold on this race for maidens rated less than 109. Gordon Elliott saddles two and PALLAS ATHENE gets the vote in first time cheekpieces. The Milan mare drops in trip having been beaten favourite when fourth over two-and-a-half miles at Down Royal 12 days ago and this looks like a nice opportunity. The Henry de Bromhead-trained The Great Unknown looks the danger. She has been competing in some strong events, including behind Tullyhill at Naas, and this is her easiest task to date on the racecourse. Hey Whatever disappointed in handicap company on her last outing at Fairyhouse but previous maiden form gives her a chance in this.
THE GREAT UNKNOWN has made a promising start over hurdles and looks the way to go. Pallas Athene has a great chance on these terms in first-time cheekpieces although 4 consecutive defeats when sent off favourite tempers enthusiasm a bit. Stablemate Hey Whatever is another to note.
THE GREAT UNKNOWN may have more scope for improvement than others now raised in trip.

33/1(+50%) | (8) Jimli's Cave 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 100/1, fourteenth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Navan (20f, heavy) 131 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Minor promise in maiden hurdle a year ago but beaten huge distances in 3 runs since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BENJIS BENEFIT was backed like defeat was out of the question at at Gowran back in January and may be worth another chance here. The Westerner gelding finished a well-beaten fourth then in very testing conditions and the ground will be a bit livelier now. This looks like a weaker race as well. Paddy Elvis ran well when third to the well-handicapper Tankardstown Diva at Down Royal last time and has to be on the shortlist off just a pound higher mark. Simply Shabra didn't run too badly on his last outing at Naas and could be place material now.
BENJIS BENEFIT was backed as if defeat was out of the question starting out over hurdles for Emmet Mullins 3 months ago and is probably worth another chance in the hope he can see things out better this time. Paddy Elvis is a big player after his fine Down Royal run, while Glenriver is one of a few likely improvers now going handicapping.
KISS MY LUCKY EGG ran well on ground that was probably too soft last time and she ought to be capable from a mark of 80

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SURF CLUB is turned out again quickly after gaining his first success, over fences, at Tramore on Monday. He probably improved for jumping the larger obstacles the other day but with that confidence boosting win under his belt this looks like a mark he can score off over timber. Jacenry bumped into one in O'Faolains Glory at Down Royal last time and it was still a solid run to finish second. Off just 2lb higher he's entitled to be a big player. Stockdale was a couple of places behind Jacenry last time and has been knocking on the door. She could pick up prize money again.
SURF CLUB was impressive switched to fences on Saturday and on that evidence, his current mark is a lenient one reverting to timber. Solly Attwell is open to progress, with True Destiny another to consider on return given his record fresh.
It looks significant that Willie Mullins turns out SURF CLUB again quickly after showing improved form over fences at Tramore.

ASK ANYTHING was originally set to carry top weight in this when it was cancelled earlier in the month but has less on his plate now after the addition of a couple of higher rated rivals. Gavin Cromwell's charge ran a cracker when last seen in a competitive novice handicap final at Navan last month and there appears scope for further improvement at this marathon trip from the Ask gelding. Frontal Assault is a significant addition to the field having run well to finish fourth in the Irish National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday. He's just a pound higher and is entitled to be a big player. Another Gordon Elliott-trained runner that could play a part is the mare Jumping Jet, who has a feather-weight with Carl Millar taking off 7lb.
Gavin Cromwell might be able to land this for the third year running courtesy of ASK ANYTHING, who is low mileage over fences and shaped well when second in a competitive handicap last time. Gordon Elliott pair Frontal Assault, who ran a cracker in the Irish Grand National at the beginning of the month, and Jumping Jet may give the selection most to think about.
ASK ANYTHING (nap) gives his trainer solid claims of landing another renewal. He's looked progressive and may improve for further now

A chance is taken on WESTERN COMANDOR with a different combination of headgear tried on this second start for a new yard. A useful bumper and hurdle horse for John Ryan, he was rated as high as 116 at one time over the smaller obstacles and the six-year-old from the family of Hunt Ball may yet find his niche as a chaser. Gladiatorial hasn't been the safest conveyance over fences but has come down in the ratings and was twice second over hurdles at this venue last year. He might need the run after nearly seven months off but has to enter calculations nonetheless in such an ordinary contest. Jimli's Island is a modest maiden but was fourth at Down Royal earlier this month after two years out of action and any improvement on that would see him involved.
JIMLI'S ISLAND has dropped a long way in the weights and showed that he retains ability back from a lengthy absence at Down Royal last time so, in a thin race, he's worth taking a chance on. Katherine is also on a handy mark and took a step back in the right direction recently, so she's feared along with Gladiatorial.
KATHERINE is preferred after a big run on her chase debut on Sunday and if she builds on that, she could be hard to beat from this mark

DUFFLE COAT looks the obvious one here after finishing second in all three chase starts this year. He hasn't got his head in front since his juvenile hurdling days but his chase form behind useful types is hard to fault and he had Bardenstown Lad over seven lengths away at Down Royal last time. Walk Away has been difficult to keep sound and the veteran's latest performances have been poor. However, he has some strong form in the book and it was less than a year ago when he was runner-up in a similar contest at Tipperary. Another Choice lacks chasing experience but is a fair hurdler with a course win to his name. He will enjoy decent ground and could show up well.
This represents a good opportunity for DUFFLE COAT to deservedly open his account over fences. The 7-y-o has found just one too good on each of his three starts in this sphere and this step back up in trip looks a good move. That remark also applies to Bardenstown Lad, who was behind the selection at Down Royal recently and he could be the one for the forecast. Walk Away is third choice ahead of Duffle Coat's stablemate Ringdufferin.
Consistent in defeat in his three beginners' chase runs, DUFFLE COAT can take this with a repeat of those efforts.
Ths is the racecard key.
