3/1(-20%) | (9) Grand City Hall 3/1, Promising type. 10/1, third of 23 in maiden at the Curragh (6f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Open to improvement. Dropping back to 5f asks a question of him but looks up to winning a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (3.33/1 +17%) Clonmacash |
3.33/1(+17%) | (7) Clonmacash 3.33/1, Lightly-raced colt. 7/1, below form sixth of 12 in maiden at Cork (5f, heavy) 21 days ago. Needs considering. Not progressing but his best run did come here on good ground in June. |

12/1(+76%) | (3) Bobbys Glory 12/1, Foaled April 5. Cotai Glory gelding. Closely related to 2-y-o 5f winner Wakai Umi. Probably best watched on debut. Closely related to 5f 2yo winner Wakai Umi (RPR 77); dam maiden from 6f-1m1f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

ASHWIYAA may have done too much in the blinkers when weakening to finish last in a Listed event at the Curragh last time out, and a breakthrough success could be on the cards now returned to maiden company. Grand City Hall ran well when third in a 23-runner maiden at the County Kildare track and should give the selection plenty to think about, along with Back Down Under, who may appreciate the return to 5f.
Having shaped well in maidens at Naas and the Curragh, GRAND CITY HALL looks the way to go here with improvement likely now that he drops to the minimum trip. Indeed, he showed plenty of dash when third over 6f last time. Ashwiyaa found listed company too much last time but is a major player now back in calmer waters. Clonmacash is also respected on the strength of his close third over this C&D in June.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

14/1(-300%) | (5) Roman Harry 14/1, Twice-raced gelding. First run since leaving G. M. Lyons when fourth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 8/1) 24 days ago. Down in trip. Open to improvement. Best run was over 1m2f and lacked the gears over 7f last time; now goes 5f. |

It is hard to oppose SMULLEN'S PRIDE, who put in a promising display when third on her seasonal return at Cork in June. The daughter of Exceed And Excel is a consistent performer at this level and could get off the mark here. Cross Border may prove to be the main threat based on his encouraging effort at the Curragh last month, although Roman Harry is also unexposed and should not be discounted.
A few of these arrive with question marks against them so this looks a good opportunity for form-pick SMULLEN'S PRIDE to get off the mark on the back of her good Cork third. Roman Harry and Cross Border both have better days ahead of them and can chase home the selection in that order.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BRIGHT STRIPES improved to finish third over 6f on his latest outing at Naas and the son of Starspangledbanner could progress further for the step up in distance. The main threat looks to be Sli Na Ghealai, who has hit the frame the last twice at Tipperary and she is likely to have a say. Of the remainder, newcomer Volto Di Medusa makes the most appeal, especially if he attracts any market support.
This represents a good opportunity for BRIGHT STRIPES to make it third time lucky. He duly stepped up on his debut form when a close third in a valuable, big-field sales race over 6f at Naas, leaving the strong impression that he would improve for the step up to this trip. Newcomer Volto Di Medusa is not short of appeal on paper and could be the one to follow Bright Stripes home, with Sli Na Ghealai taken to collect more minor place money.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 +0%) The Bear Trap |
5/1(+0%) | (2) The Bear Trap 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifth of 8 in nursery (5/1) at Killarney (8.1f, good) 15 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Probably unwise to blame the step up to 1m for his ordinary first run in a nursery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (6/1 +0%) Expecto |
6/1(+0%) | (7) Expecto 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 8 in nursery at Killarney (8.1f, good) 15 days ago, merely closing up late. Merits consideration. Well held when fourth on nursery debut at Killarney; 6lb drop can only help. |

4/1(-14%) | (1) Poppadom 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fifth of 9 in nursery (14/1) at the Curragh (6f, soft) 48 days ago. Gelded since and one to consider. Today's drier ground may help now raised in distance and has been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (28/1 +30%) Rogerwaswrong |
28/1(+30%) | (8) Rogerwaswrong 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1, sixth of 7 in maiden at this C&D (good to soft) 42 days ago, slowly away. Makes handicap debut. Goes handicapping after being gelded but beaten too far for comfort in last two maidens. |

5.5/1(+0%) | (4) Hasshoffman 5.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 9 in maiden (66/1) at Bellewstown (5f, good to soft) 64 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and cheekpieces on 1st time for this handicap debut. Goes handicapping off a low mark and cheekpieces could bring something to the party. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (8.5/1 -6%) Burn The Bridges |
8.5/1(-6%) | (5) Burn The Bridges 8.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Tenth of 13 in maiden (150/1) at the Curragh (7f, good) 27 days ago. Yard in good form. Blinkers on 1st time for this handicap debut. Not beaten many rivals in his three runs but blinkers are fitted for nursery debut. |

12/1(+52%) | (9) Finsceal Annie 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, fifth of 7 in minor event at Roscommon (7.4f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Looked outclassed in her maidens, finishing no closer than 15l. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There were plenty of positives to be taken from VELVET SKIES' fifth-placed finish on his nursery debut at the Curragh recently, and the combination of a return to 7f and 6lb lower mark gives the Buratino gelding leading claims. Poppadom should also enjoy the stiffer test of stamina and is dangerous to discount on his first appearance since a gelding operation, while Hasshoffman is bred to be a lot better than his opening mark of 62.
Though VELVET SKIES failed to progress when fifth of 11 on his first run in a nursery at the Curragh, that was a respectable effort nonetheless, particularly bearing in mind that he was 4 lb 'wrong' at the weights. Able to race off his correct mark here and likely to benefit from the return to this trip, he could be the answer. Expecto wasn't disgraced at Killarney last time and may emerge as the main danger ahead of Poppadom.

BARNACULLIA (second) had Crassus (third) in behind at Bellewstown last time and the son of Ocovango has few miles on the clock in this sphere. The six-year-old is fancied to confirm that form en route to victory here. Rich Belief hit the frame in this 12 months ago and is interesting from a competitive mark, while No Thanks must be of interest with Frankie Dettori booked to ride. Others to note include Pretty Soldier and Curious Bride.
Lots with chances. BARNACULLIA arrives on the up and is fancied to go one better than his recent Bellewstown second with the winner having gone in again. Rich Belief rates the main danger on the back of his good Killarney fourth with both Crassus and Curious Bride well in the mix too.
Second over 2m1f at Bellewstown, BARNACULLIA holds a couple of these rivals on that form and should go close over a trip he'll relish

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
In a wide-open event marginal preference is for GOD KNOWS, who was not beaten far on her handicap bow in a competitive event at the Curragh last month. Off a 2lb lower mark, the four-year-old could be very hard to stop here. That said, Evening's Empire is an obvious threat following her narrow defeat over 1m 5f at this venue last time. Others to include on the shortlist are Who Not What, Neverfindanother U and Barrys Rock.
NEVERFINDANOTHER U figures on an attractive mark so looks the way to go if, as expected, building on her recent Naas fifth after a lay-off. Good Curragh fifth Giselles Defence is next on the list ahead of in-form pair Slaney Tide and Evening's Empire.
With a nice draw to work with and a recent comeback run under her belt, NEVERFINDANOTHERU is taken to resume progress

Looked promising last season and he's unexposed for this stable, so worth taking a chance on. Got up close home in Sligo claimer (10.5f) but stamina unproven for this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (16) (33/1 +0%) Drakensberg |

5.5/1(+61%) | (6) Wojood 5.5/1, 22/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Cork (18.7f, good to soft) 32 days ago, going in snatches. Fair on the all weather, respectable on last Flat run. Won over 1m4f at Tramore last year; not shamed when beaten 5l on latest Flat start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Texas Sun struck over an extended 1m2f at Sligo on his latest outing and he looks an interesting contender as he steps up to this distance for the first time. However, preference is for CHARLIE DARLING, who outran big odds to score at Navan by half a length recently and he looks sure to go very close once more off a 3lb higher mark. Theresathought has run well enough this year to suggest that she could grab a place in this contest.
TEXAS SUN looked a reasonable prospect on his first couple of starts for Ger Lyons last season and, having got his career back on track since joining his current stable, he's worth a chance to defy a mark of 64 on his first go in handicaps. Estepona Sun and Charlie Darling could emerge as the main dangers.
He's nowhere near as effective on the Flat as over hurdles but maybe a race of this nature is within the compass of FUTURUM REGEM
Ths is the racecard key.
