1st (4) (2/1 +43%) Annie Agnew |
2/1(+43%) | (4) Annie Agnew 2/1, Promising sort. Second of 12 in maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe (16.6f, good, 40/1) on debut 18 days ago, staying on behind a well-backed winner. May well do better in this sphere, so has to be considered. Made a promising debut at Ballinrobe depriving Doctor Nightingale of second, strong chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 -25%) Spinning Web |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Spinning Web 5/1, Had cut little ice in a handful of runs up to 9f on the Flat but proved a different proposition switched to hurdles when scoring at Tipperary (2m) in July. Solid effort when runner-up back on the level since and open to improvement in this sphere. Beat Doctor Nightingale at Tipperary, modest on Flat, possibly vulnerable under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (1.88/1 +73%) Doctor Nightingale |
1.88/1(+73%) | (7) Doctor Nightingale 1.88/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. 5/2, ran to a similar level as on her hurdling bow when third of 12 in maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe (16.6f, good) 18 days ago. Respected. Beaten 1/2l by Spinning Web at Tipperary, 3l behind Annie Agnew when second at Ballinrobe. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (6/1 -20%) Emotivo |
6/1(-20%) | (8) Emotivo 6/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. 7/4, rare poor effort when eighth of 14 in maiden at Naas (8f, soft) 25 days ago. Makes hurdles debut and certainly worth a second look in the betting. Third behind two subsequent Pattern winners over 1m at Naas, has failed to make progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (8/1 +60%) Millennium Rose |
8/1(+60%) | (9) Millennium Rose 8/1, €5,500 3-y-o, Belardo filly. Half-sister to numerous winners, including poor hurdler Percy Thrower. Dam 9.7f/10.6f winner. Market check advised given connections. Half-sister to six Flat winners including Group 3 scorer Dubday, unraced, cheap purchase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (100/1 -25%) Bedelia |
100/1(-25%) | (5) Bedelia 100/1, Modest Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden over hurdles. Tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, sixth of 13 in maiden hurdle (150/1) at Killarney (17f, soft) 7 days ago. Won a Flat claimer at Ballinrobe in June, well held by Spinning Web on Tipperary running. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (33/1 +59%) Burvea |
33/1(+59%) | (6) Burvea 33/1, Fair maiden on Flat, mid-division in claimer at Fairyhouse (10f, good) 51 days ago. Makes hurdling debut and she's tough to fancy. 62-rated Flat maiden, never in the first four, not a likely contender on hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ANNIE AGNEW made a very pleasing start to her career when second over the extended 2m at Ballinrobe and she wouldn't have to improve too much to go one better today. Gerald Stephen Quinn's charge shaped as if this slight step up in trip would suit and another bold bid can be expected. The consistent Doctor Nightingale was just over three lengths back in third on that occasion and she is respected as she reopposes, while Cossack Chach should also be thereabouts.
A few in with a shout but COSSACK CHACH made a winning start over hurdles at Killarney 6 weeks ago and with further improvement on the cards, Joseph O'Brien's charge gets the verdict to follow up. The main threat may emerge from Annie Agnew, who found just a well-backed favourite too strong on her hurdling bow at Ballinrobe recently, while Gordon Elliott's pair Doctor Nightingale and Millennium Rose also warrant plenty of respect.
A promising second on her debut at Ballinrobe, ANNIE AGNEW is tipped to confirm form with third-placed Doctor Nightingale

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Rated 95 on the Flat, GOODIE TWO SHOES is hard to ignore and while she was beating a retreat when falling in the closing stages at Fairyhouse when last seen over hurdles, that was in a Grade 3 and she faces nothing of that calibre in this opposition. Air Drop and Final Decision are potential improvers who can lay down strong challenges to the selection, while Angelsworknovrtime also has the ability to play a part at this level.
DAME RAPIDE has yet to convince as a hurdler but she's worth another chance given her useful form on the Flat. Goodie Two Shoes has a similar profile to the selection so is feared, with Air Drop another to consider.
Quite a decent mares' maiden hurdle in which talented flat handicappers GOODIE TWO SHOES and Dame Rapide look the ones to beat

|F| (14) (16/1 +36%) Mephisto |
16/1(+36%) | (14) Mephisto 16/1, Twelfth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f, good to soft, 7/1) 7 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Trip possibly too far at Kilbeggan so don't rule out back in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (25/1 -14%) Tullybawn |
25/1(-14%) | (3) Tullybawn 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable third of 14 in novice hurdle (14/1) at Tramore (16f, heavy) 14 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Couple of decent runs in maidens, including at Tramore latest; opening mark high enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CAVE COURT took a big step forward when bolting up at Perth on his most recent run last month and he must enter calculations if anywhere near that form. He races off the same mark on this occasion and is fancied to get the better of last-time-out maiden winner Invictus World, who could have more to offer on his handicap debut. Tullybawn is another who warrants a market check.
The progressive and unexposed INVICTUS WORLD gets the vote off what looks a fair opening mark. It's probably best to forgive Doyenna and Realism's latest efforts and they head the dangers.
Wide open with a chance taken on WEE CHARLIE coming on sufficiently from his Galway comeback run to resume winning ways

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HARLEY STREET was fancied to be competitive in a Grade 3 juvenile at Fairyhouse on his hurdling debut when finishing a disappointing last. He was reported to be blowing hard post-race, which suggests he is capable of much better, and the son of Galileo is worth another chance in these much calmer waters. Pinyon Jay improved from his first start to be placed in a Kilbeggan bumper and the step up in trip is likely to benefit him on his hurdling bow, while One Flew Eau Verte and Mount Frisco complete the shortlist.
Promising Flat-recruit HARLEY STREET was never involved when pitched into the deep end on hurdles bow in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in February and is well worth another chance in this much easier race. Pinyon Jay showed a bit when third in a bumper at Kilbeggan, while Mount Frisco should put his experience to good use.
It is significant that HARLEY STREET was aimed high on his only start as a juvenile hurdler and there was an excuse for his failure

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TULLYBEG won over fences at Ballinrobe two starts ago and the eight-year-old looks set to go very close back over the smaller obstacles here. However, Whiskey Sour is a live threat after his fifth at Galway on the Flat and it would be foolish to dismiss him on his return to hurdles. Jeff Kidder wasn't disgraced when sixth in a Grade 3 event at Tipperary and he could also have a say in proceedings.
WHISKEY SOUR arrives on the back of a decent run on the Flat at Galway and can make a successful return to hurdles. Jeff Kidder ran well in a Tipperary Grade 3 last time can give the selection most to do ahead of Gordon Elliott's Mayo National winner Tullybeg, who reverts to hurdling for the first time since spring 2022.
Both JEFF KIDDER (nap) and Whisky Sour are unproven over this far but look the principals. Streets Of Doyen is a proven stayer

Others more persuasive. RESERVE. Mostly poor form on flat and over hurdles since Sligo maiden second a year ago; reserve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A return to hurdles should not inconvenience the consistent WALKING THE WALK, having won at Limerick on his penultimate start. Gordon Elliott's charge remains on a workable mark and he should have to much for Winnie Woodnutt, who scored over fences at Kilbeggan last month. Jukebox Jive bounced back to form with a creditable effort at Roscommon and is likely to be thereabouts, along with Doune Castle and Whatsyourstatus.
WINNIE WOODNUTT has mixed hurdling and chasing to good effect this year, failing to finish in out of the first 3 in 6 outings, and can follow up last week's success over fences at Kilbeggan. Whatsyourstatus shaped better than the result back hurdling at Wexford last time and is second choice ahead of Walking The Walk and Jukebox Jive.
A snug winner over fences at Kilbeggan last week WINNIE WOODNUTT is in the form of her life and retains plenty of appeal back hurdling

7/1(+13%) | (11) Tomavian 7/1, €8,000 3-y-o, Kingston Hill filly. Half-sister to dual point winner Beyondapproach. 5.5/1(+8%) | (1) Beauforts Storm 5.5/1, Twice-raced winner in bumpers. 1 win from 2 runs this season. 5/2, won 14-runner bumper at Cork (16.9f, good to soft) 49 days ago. Winning favourite at Cork, second and third failed to advertise the form at Galway. |

5th (5) (6/1 +8%) Jekiki |
6/1(+8%) | (5) Jekiki 6/1, Twice-raced maiden. 11/4, ninth of 11 in bumper at Roscommon (15.5f, good to soft) 53 days ago but was third of 18 on Limerick debut prior to that. Promising third at Limerick in May, scoped dirty when disappointing at Roscommon. |

6th (6) (80/1 -60%) Lady Danu |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Lady Danu 80/1, Once-raced maiden. Sixth of 12 in bumper at Tramore (16f, good to soft, 14/1) on NH debut 12 days ago. Made little impression in mid-division on belated debut at Tramore, behind Late Vocation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (28/1 -27%) Late Vocation |
28/1(-27%) | (7) Late Vocation 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 18/1, third of 12 in bumper at Tramore (16f, good to soft) on bumper debut 12 days ago. Fair third at Tramore in her first bumper, has an edge over Lady Danu on that evidence. |

8th (8) (4.5/1 +72%) Miss Aytan |
4.5/1(+72%) | (8) Miss Aytan 4.5/1, Excelebration mare. Dam unraced. One to monitor closely in the betting. In good hands, rider of the stable's Grade 1 bumper winner A Dream To Share aboard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (12/1 +14%) Georgia Celena |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Georgia Celena 12/1, Hillstar mare. Half-sister to bumper winner Sir Jimmy Mac. Dam unraced. One to note in the betting for a stable which enjoys plenty of bumper success. Half-sister to Sir Jimmy Mac who won a Downpatrick bumper by a big margin first time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (14/1 -115%) Sadies Diamond |
14/1(-115%) | (10) Sadies Diamond 14/1, Second of 12 in bumper (66/1) at Wexford (16f, good) on NH debut 72 days ago. First run for yard after leaving R. P. Rath. Respected. Promising for Richie Rath when 66-1 second at Wexford, could go well on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (100/1 -203%) Westofsummerhill |
100/1(-203%) | (9) Westofsummerhill 100/1, Westerner mare. Sister to modest 2½m hurdler/fair chase winner Hold Onto The Line. Third foal, sister to hurdle/chase winner Hold Onto The Line, dam hurdle/chase winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (150/1 -127%) Doyen Flyer |
150/1(-127%) | (3) Doyen Flyer 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. First run since leaving W. P. Mullins when thirteenth of 15 in bumper at Galway (16f, soft, 150/1) 27 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Ex-Willie Mullins, completely tailed off on stable debut at Galway, tongue-tie on now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A case can be made for plenty of these but marginal preference is for TOMAVIAN, who lacks race experience but is out of a half-sister to the dual Grade 1-winning hurdler Won In The Dark. Sadies Diamond is an obvious threat to the selection following her narrow defeat on debut, while Beauforts Storm and Roedora are both previous winners that are likely to be in the mix. Jekiki should not be underestimated and Miss Aytan is another interesting debutant.
ROEDORA looks quite useful for the Joseph O'Brien team and can take her record to 2-3. Sadies Diamond, who has joined Shark Hanlon since her Wexford debut second, looks the chief threat unless the market vibes are strong surrounding newcomers Tomavian and/or Miss Aytan.
Debut C&D winner ROEDORA has a less daunting task than when taking on a Willie Mullins-trained odds-on shot at Killarney
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
