2nd (1) (4/1 +33%) Battle Cry |
4/1(+33%) | (1) Battle Cry 4/1, Once-raced colt. 8/1, eighth of 12 in maiden at Navan (5.8f, soft) on debut 76 days ago. Up in trip. Stable in good form so could take a step forward. Never involved at Navan in May (5.5f) but could easily leave that form behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3.5/1 -17%) Starliner |
3.5/1(-17%) | (6) Starliner 3.5/1, Foaled March 31. Showcasing colt. Half-brother to 9f winners Mini P and Saturn Five. Dam, useful French 9.5f winner, half-sister to Breeders' Cup Mile winner Karakontie. Interesting debutant. Well related and prevailed by about a length in a 7f barrier trial at Naas. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (125/1 -89%) T Or Coffey |
125/1(-89%) | (7) T Or Coffey 125/1, Foaled April 4. Gustav Klimt colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 6f-1m winner Refuse Colette and 5f winner Racing Angel. Betting can prove an accurate indicator. Half-brother to three winners; likely best watched unless market suggests otherwise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MY MATE ALFIE produced a creditable effort when third at the Curragh over 6f on his most recent outing. He kept on the one pace inside the final furlong that day, which suggests a stiffer stamina test will aid his cause, and he is taken to get the better of King Of Gosford, who sports a first-time tongue-tie and can step up on his Curragh debut. Starliner represents powerful connections and Battle Cry will likely show up better than he did at Navan.
MY MATE ALFIE possesses much the best form on offer so looks the way to go after two fairly useful placed efforts at the Curragh. Newcomer Starliner could emerge as the chief threat, especially if the market vibes are positive, with Battle Cry not ruled out either for his top yard.
Battle Cry should improve and Starliner won his Barrier Trial, but the standout contender is MY MATE ALFIE.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (4.5/1 +25%) Zig Zag Zyggy |
4.5/1(+25%) | (8) Zig Zag Zyggy 4.5/1, Won 15-runner handicap (14/1) at Bellewstown (5f, good to soft) 21 days ago by head from Scarlet Dancer. Ought to be in the shake-up again. Got up late when bouncing back to form latest; still well treated but worst of the draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (3/1 -20%) Scarlet Dancer |
3/1(-20%) | (4) Scarlet Dancer 3/1, One win from 33 Flat runs. Blinkered for 1st time, unlucky head second of 15 to Zig Zag Zyggy in handicap at Bellewstown (5f, good to soft, 2/1) 21 days ago, closing all way to line after being denied a clear run late on. Big shout. 1-33; knocking on the door lately and only beaten a head latest but may want better ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A 3lb drop in the ratings for PEERLESS' second-placed effort in an 18-runner affair at Fairyhouse looks potentially lenient and the five-year-old is fancied to record a first success of the season. Eruption appeared to pay the price for going for home too soon when a head second at Bellewstown earlier in the month and she may reverse form with the reopposing winner, Zig Zag Zyggy, now 2lb better off at the revised weights. Spirit Of Eagles and Conversant also look capable of winning at this level and are others to note in a competitive event.
SCARLET DANCER is a long time without a win but still looks the way to go on the back of her unlucky narrow reverse at Bellewstown last time. Eruption dead-heated with the selection that day and must enter calculations, with Sister Lola weighted to have a say too in a very open handicap.
It may be worth taking a chance on CONVERSANT who goes well fresh and should relish conditions

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TOMMY THUG showed improvement from his debut with a good second in a decent looking maiden at Leopardstown last week, and rates as a solid option on this quick return to action. The son of Churchill is likely to be a lot wiser and another step forward can bring about a breakthrough success. Rhodesia actually finished a place ahead of him at the Curragh on her reappearance and she is feared most. Nakassama and Golden Spangle complete the shortlist.
This can go to TOMMY THUG, who left his debut form behind when runner-up at Leopardstwon last week and remains with potential. Golden Spangle and Brave Thought rate the principal dangers.
Golden Spangle is solid but TOMMY THUG has had fewer chances and his Leopardstown effort was highly encouraging.

Career best when winning 6-runner handicap at Navan (10f, soft, 2/1) 13 days ago, keeping on well. 5 lb higher now but another bold bid anticipated. Both wins on soft ground; up 5lb for latest success; handy draw for his preferred tactics. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Spy |
(4) (7/1 +22%)7/1(+22%) | (4) Spy 7/1, Unreliable individual. Unable to build on encouraging hurdles debut for new connections in a couple of outings since but posted respectable fifth of 14 back on the level at Roscommon (10f) 24 days ago. Soft ground a concern, though. Turf win came on quick ground; solid run back on the Flat latest; unproven on soft. |

Draco Pulchrac |
(9) (8/1 +76%)8/1(+76%) | (9) Draco Pulchrac 8/1, Tenth of 15 in handicap (14/1) at the Curragh (10f, good) 27 days ago. Claims on best form. Both wins have come on AW; 0-13 on turf; promising return before lesser run over this trip. |

Team Of Firsts |
(3) (28/1 +44%)28/1(+44%) | (3) Team Of Firsts 28/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap (9/1) at Tramore (16f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Others preferred. Losing run since heavy ground win in 2021; lost his way of late and hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EASTERN LEGEND was not beaten far when fifth off this mark over a mile at Leopardstown a couple of weeks ago and a reproduction of that level of form would give him a big chance here. The unexposed Hutton Glen has shown plenty of ability in maidens and could prove to be the main threat to the selection now switched to handicaps. That said, the likes of Boher Road, Alma Libre and Spy should not be underestimated.
BOHER ROAD upped his game when resuming winning ways at Navan earlier this month and remains feasibly treated. He may be able to follow up. Eastern Legend and Hutton Glen are feared most.
A 5lb rise looks fine for BOHER ROAD who made all earlier in the month and there's a chance he could get another uncontested lead

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Zola Sakura has been mixing it up in Listed company on her last three outings and she now has her sights lowered, so she should go well. However, the vote goes to GRADULATIONS, who was possibly unlucky to go down by half a length when second at the Curragh last month, as her jockey dropped the whip with a furlong to go, so she did well to finish where she did. She could make amends this time around off a 3lb higher mark, while Humtaza warrants a market check on her handicap bow.
WHITE CAVIAR had seemed on the up until finishing last at the Curragh so is worth siding with off a handy-looking mark to bounce back to form in style. Handicap-debutante Humtaza could emerge as the chief threat, with Gradulations also not taken lightly on the back of her good Curragh second.
It's worth forgiving WHITE CAVIAR's run on quicker ground last time and she had looked highly progressive prior to that

Up in trip. Hood back on. Needs to bounce back. On a tough mark when last seen on Flat; losing run goes back to 2020; likely to need this. |

Pretty Soldier |
(3) (16/1 +20%)16/1(+20%) | (3) Pretty Soldier 16/1, Eighth of 14 in novice hurdle (10/1) at Roscommon (15.5f, good to soft) on NH debut 18 days ago, not knocked about. Up in trip. Fair on the Flat, creditable on last Flat outing. Should benefit from return to this sphere. Prolific in Germany and respectable effort here on yard debut; conditions should be fine. |

Virtual Hug |
(12) (16/1 +36%)16/1(+36%) | (12) Virtual Hug 16/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Last of 11 in handicap hurdle (28/1) at Bellewstown (20f, good) 20 days ago. Modest on the Flat, respectable on last Flat run. Not completely dismissed. 0-16 on Flat; tailed off over hurdles latest and was struggling on the Flat previously. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NO MEMORY returns from a lengthy spell off the track, with her last appearance being in a Grade 3 hurdle at Punchestown, but her most recent Flat effort was a victory at Galway in October 2021 and conditions are likely to suit the daughter of Westerner. Blackstone Cliff performed with plenty of credit to finish third on his return at Navan and he is entitled to be in the mix. Herculaneum is capable of stepping forward after his placed effort at Tramore, while Pretty Soldier and Galactica complete the shortlist.
MERITORIOUS returns to the Flat on an appealing mark and he was last seen running well in a novice hurdle at Punchestown, so he could take the beating if tuned up for his first outing in 5 months. Blackstone Cliff is a danger on second outing for his current stable and Pretty Soldier is also of interest back on the level.
A step up in trip could suit COURT OF APPEAL who may have bounced last time and he's better judged on his return win two starts ago

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
With a few potential improvers lining up here, it might be worth taking a chance on MASTER DUNRAVEN. The gelded son of Mastercraftsman kept on to hit the frame over 1m4f at Roscommon last time out, suggesting he could fare even better over this longer trip and a bold bid is expected. Slaney Tide merits the utmost respect raised 7lb for her recent Naas success, while others to note include Bright N Shine, Siouxanne and Rauzan.
NOTTURNO was unlucky not to finish closer when fifth at Killarney 11 days ago and, if things drop right, he might be capable of opening his account. Slaney Tide is an obvious danger having improved to score at Naas last time and Rauzan merits respect in first-time headgear.
The tentative vote goes to NOTTURNO who should appreciate soft ground and he wasn't beaten far last week
Ths is the racecard key.
