13:50 Curragh Stakes 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Irish Acclamation was a position and almost four lengths ahead of Jack Major when third at Cork but while that experience will stand both in good stead, they are taken on by some interesting newcomers. Heading the bunch is TREASURE ISLE, a No Nay Never colt related to plenty of winners who has the honour of being the first Ballydoyle juvenile seen out in 2024. Passing Phase is out of a Group 3 winner, and Midnight Strike merits respect as well.

The eyes are immediately drawn to TREASURE ISLE, who looks the part on paper and confidence behind him in the betting would look highly significant. Passing Phase is second choice, albeit only marginally as Irish Acclamation is entitled to build on his encouraging debut at Cork and Midnight Strike is another newcomer with seemingly strong credentials.

The newcomers are naturally interesting but experience should count on this ground and IRISH ACCLAMATION ran a nice race at Cork.

14:25 Curragh Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

With Sunriseontheboyne's Dundalk sixth setting only a modest standard, it should pay to concentrate on the debutants. The obvious first port of call is the Aidan O'Brien-trained WHISTLEJACKET, who is a full-brother to the yard's 2022 champion juvenile Little Big Bear, so it is no surprise he cost 500,000gns as a yearling. Fellow No Nay Never colt Spartan Soldier fetched 150,000 euros, as did his stablemate Mount Parnassus, while Cowardofthecounty also made six figures. Devine Genius, a 185,000-euro half-brother to Breeders' Cup hero Unquestionable, could be the biggest threat, though.

There's an awful lot to like about WHISTLEJACKET on paper and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour. Indeed, he was a costly purchase and is certainly bred to make a 2-y-o being a brother to Little Big Bear, who landed the Phoenix Stakes for these connections during his juvenile campaign. Devine Genius is also appealing and he is nominated as the main danger, with Spartan Soldier and Cowardofthecounty others to monitor closely in the betting.

Whistlejacket could be anything and his yard has a good record in this maiden, but DEVINE GENIUS could serve it up to him.

14:55 Curragh Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ECLIPSE EMERALD beat Kortez Bay (fourth) by over two lengths when running with huge credit to occupy the runner-up berth on his debut over track and trip in October. The son of Holy Roman Emperor would have learned a great deal from that experience and, with normal improvement, he could be the one to beat. Master Of The Hunt has finished third on each of his three starts to date and it would be no surprise to see him get involved, despite the drop in trip. Betsen and Follow Me are others to note.

The vote goes to ECLIPSE EMERALD, who represents the yard that saddled the winner of this maiden 12 months ago and he shaped with promise on his sole 2-y-o start when runner-up in a maiden here in the autumn (form of that race is working out well). Master of The Hunt, who was thereabouts on each of his three starts in 2023, is next on the list ahead of French import Follow Me, while Betsen and Ebanza are promising types.

Slight reference is for ECLIPSE EMERALD who shaped well on heavy going here last October with Kortez Bay back in fourth

Fiver Friday beat a few of these when returning with a fifth at Naas and she goes off an unchanged mark so could give it a good crack from the front. However, she might find it tough to deny UNCLE ALBERT, who relished heavy conditions to score by just under four lengths at Cork and a 6lb rise looks kind. The son of Dragon Pulse looks to have lots in his favour and he can go in again, while Sea Eagle and El Bello are two others to consider.

A 6 lb rise for UNCLE ALBERT's decisive Cork success at the end of last month looks like a rare act of generosity on the part of the handicapper. He will surely take plenty of stopping if in a similar mood. Fellow 3-y-o Pepper Noir landed a Dundalk maiden last time and could be a threat on this handicap/turf debut, while Chicago Storm is also shortlisted. The likes of Spanish Tenor, Eastern Wind and Encosta would also have a big chance if on-song.

It's early for 3yos to be taking on their elders but UNCLE ALBERT and Pepper Noir look progressive after their recent wins.

16:00 Curragh Listed 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

With Craven Stakes winner Haatem emphatically boosting last year's Dewhurst form, it would be folly to underestimate HENRY ADAMS, especially as he had valid excuses for a poor showing in the UAE Derby last month. He resented the kick back and was reported as finishing lame. If back to his best, the son of No Nay Never will be a major player, with his three-year-old weight allowance a key factor. Older horses have a good record in this race, though, and Mutasarref, who is proven on deep ground, is feared most. The versatile Jumbly rates the pick of Joseph O'Brien's pair.

Though JUMBLY has done most of her racing on fast ground, she was an easy winner of a listed event on heavy going as a 2-y-o and this represents a good opportunity for her to regain the winning thread. Big Gossey needs to bounce back but he is certainly capable of a bold show and is an appealing option for forecast purposes. Mutasarref and Yosemite Valley both look fairly solid but likely favourite Henry Adams is probably worth taking on given the recent record of 3-y-os in this race.

Perhaps Henry Adams will bounce back from his Meydan flop, but YOSEMITE VALLEY is put forward as a realistic alternative.

16:30 Curragh Handicap 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

This trip could prove to be a stumbling block for a few of these and with that in mind, the lightly-raced TWO STARS looks worth chancing. Just a neck second to a 91-rated rival under similar ground conditions at Cork last month, the son of Starspangledbanner rates a big player off just a 2lb higher mark here. Magical Vision was a close third in that race and enters calculations off the same rating, while Screen Siren resumes off 12lb higher than her win at Navan in October but cannot be confidently ruled out.

There may well be more to come from the lightly-raced TWO STARS, who put in a good shift when fourth on his reappearance over this C&D last month prior to going close at Cork. He remains on an attractive mark. Harry's Hill bagged a big-field handicap over this C&D last summer and, having caught the eye on return at Dundalk, he is next on the list ahead of Screen Siren, who signed off her 2023 campaign with a decisive win at Navan. Magical Vision is also in with a shout.

One of the less exposed runners here, TWO STARS can step up a place following his Cork second on the fifth start of his career.

17:00 Curragh Handicap 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The key to this race could be the recent clash at Naas between Naisiun (first) and DARK VIPER (second), with Jessie Harrington's charge taken to overturn the form. He is 4lb better off for a near two-length defeat and, runner-up over C&D on his penultimate outing, he should relish the drop from 7f. The unexposed Nouvel Espoir is interesting on his handicap debut, while Cage Rattler is another to note on the back of a career-best second at Leopardstown. Completing the shortlist are Downforce, Gegenpressing and Hezahunk.

Ready preference is for DARK VIPER, who chased home an improver on his reappearance over this C&D and found only Naisiun too good over 7f at Naas next time. Back down in trip on 4 lb better terms, Dark Viper should have the measure of that rival this time. Cage Rattler took a step forward when runner-up at Leopardstown recently and should be in the mix, provided he's able to build on that, while Scarlet Dancer will have an each-way chance if ready to roll following an eight-month absence.

Second on both starts since joining Jessica Harrington, DARK VIPER was outstayed by Naisiun over 7f at Naas and can take revenge.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
