Gringo D'ainay |
(2) (6/1 -20%)6/1(-20%) | (2) Gringo D'ainay 6/1, Fair maiden hurdler. 7/2, good third of 14 in handicap at Wexford (16f, good to soft) in March 2023. Not seen since but thereabouts if still capable of the same form. In the mix if he's close to his best but the long layoff has to be a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (11/4 +77%) Marlpark |
11/4(+77%) | (5) Marlpark 11/4, Modest hurdler. Fell in maiden at Fairyhouse (18.5f, good, 22/1) 12 days ago. A faller latest in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle; likely pace angle but looks up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/6 +39%) Elusive Prince |
4/6(+39%) | (1) Elusive Prince 4/6, Fair maiden hurdler. 16/1, tenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20.2f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Leading claims if back to best form. Tame effort back in a handicap at Gowran latest; highest-rated but plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (11/2 +61%) Shantou Princess |
11/2(+61%) | (10) Shantou Princess 11/2, Point winner but only modest form in 2 bumpers in the spring. Well beaten on completed start over hurdles this autumn but there was market support for her last time. Was fading out of things when brought down at Tramore in cheekpieces; in top hands. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (12/1 +52%) Thehardandthewild |
12/1(+52%) | (9) Thehardandthewild 12/1, 50/1, ninth of 15 in maiden hurdle at Gowran (16f, good to soft) on NH debut 20 days ago. Weak in the betting when well beaten on rules debut over 2m at Gowran this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (20/1 +20%) Rut Daniels |
20/1(+20%) | (7) Rut Daniels 20/1, Once-raced maiden. Sixth of 14 in maiden hurdle at Killarney (20.4f, good, 22/1) on NH debut 98 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Breeding would suggest this trip will be on the sharp side for him; first-time tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (125/1 -25%) Niosfearabolt |
125/1(-25%) | (6) Niosfearabolt 125/1, Once-raced maiden. 2001/, fell in maiden hurdle at Listowel (22f, good, 200/1) on NH debut 32 days ago. Down in trip. Hooded for 1st time. Sent off a huge price on his debut at Listowel and was in rear when coming down at halfway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (150/1 -50%) Like A Bumblebee |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Like A Bumblebee 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 150/1, ninth of 11 in maiden at Limerick (16.3f, good to soft) 4 days ago. Beaten out of sight at Limerick on Sunday when up with the pace early; safely ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Point-to-point winner MACHISMO showed useful bumper form last season and might benefit from a recent bumper reappearance run. He won his point for today's trainer last December before showing consistent bumper form, and while his recent Fairyhouse effort was undeniably disappointing having been well supported, he looks sure to improve racing over obstacles and will now strip fitter, in an ordinary maiden. Elusive Prince similarly won a point-to-point on debut and while he has shown bits of useful hurdling form, was well beaten in a recent handicap and might struggle to beat the selection. Gringo D'ainay is a fairly useful 10-race maiden but is absent since March 2023.
ELUSIVE PRINCE failed to fire in a handicap last time but this looks an ordinary maiden and he's the one to beat if back to anywhere near his best. Gordon Elliott's Machismo has shown ability in bumpers and could pose the chief threat now switching to hurdles. Gringo D'ainay could also play a part if retaining anything like his old ability.
MACHISMO was sent off favourite when fourth in a Fairyhouse bumper on his return and can improve on his hurdling debut

1st (1) (5/6 +33%) Straight Home |
5/6(+33%) | (1) Straight Home 5/6, Going the right way for new stable, failing only narrowly to justify support in 16-runner handicap hurdle at Listowel (18f, good, 6/4) 32 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. Beaten a short head in 2m2f mares' handicap hurdle at Listowel; form has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (17/2 -13%) Romella |
17/2(-13%) | (12) Romella 17/2, C&D winner who ran better than for a while when second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, good) 12 days ago. Enters calculations. C&D winner hasn't won since 2021 but she bounced back to form when runner-up at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 +0%) Duke Otto |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Duke Otto 6/1, 10/1, returned to something like his best form when second of 16 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (18f, soft) 26 days ago, staying on well. Big chance with a repeat. Never-nearer 2nd at Listowel; chance if he can build on that but he would want rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (25/1 -14%) Battle Roar |
25/1(-14%) | (6) Battle Roar 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Blinkered for 1st time, sixth of 14 in maiden hurdle (100/1) at Kilbeggan (16f, good) 160 days ago. Has been handed a stiff-looking mark. Poor maiden after five starts; market will guide on his return on his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -88%) Granpa Ger |
16/1(-88%) | (2) Granpa Ger 16/1, Fair maiden who had excuses when down the field in big-field handicap at Galway (16.7f, good to soft) 45 days ago, refusing to settle and meeting some trouble. Better judged on previous form. Disappointed when sent off favourite at Galway; player if the ground isn't soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 +9%) Indulging |
20/1(+9%) | (8) Indulging 20/1, 10/1, respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at this course (16.6f, good) 49 days ago, met some trouble. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Might have needed the run on last hurdle outing. Rated 50 on the Flat where he has done most of his racing but is 0-24 in both codes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (25/1 -127%) Pana To Milan |
25/1(-127%) | (4) Pana To Milan 25/1, 8/1, shaped as if still in good heart for most of the way when pulled up in handicap chase at Tramore (21.8f, good to soft) in June. Back down in trip. Pulled up on ground that was faster than ideal at Tramore; of interest if the mud's flying. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (4/1 +84%) Late Vocation |
4/1(+84%) | (7) Late Vocation 4/1, 9/1, hinted at a revival when ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (16f, good to soft) 50 days ago. First run for yard after leaving P. F. McEnery. Still a maiden after 13 attempts; first start for Andy Slattery but looks up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (125/1 -213%) Keyser Smokesy |
125/1(-213%) | (9) Keyser Smokesy 125/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, eleventh of 16 in maiden hurdle at Roscommon (15.6f, soft) 24 days ago. Needs a big step forward on handicap debut. Market watch advised on her handicap debut but she would be a surprise winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (33/1 -106%) Rene Artois |
33/1(-106%) | (13) Rene Artois 33/1, 17/2 and tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (16f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. 0-7 over hurdles but did show promise on his last two outings at Gowran and Tramore. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (22/1 +45%) Thefaithfulindian |
22/1(+45%) | (10) Thefaithfulindian 22/1, Modest maiden who was well below form when seventh of 9 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (16f, good to soft, 22/1) 14 days ago. Ballinrobe 2nd off 87 last August would give her a squeak; well beaten when last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (16/1 +60%) Tik Tok |
16/1(+60%) | (14) Tik Tok 16/1, Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, heavy, 9/1) 7 months ago. First run for yard after leaving Christian Williams. Lots to prove. Early promise in a Sedgefield bumper; worth a market check on first start for Rothwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
STRAIGHT HOME has been expensive to follow recently and while she could ultimately prove to be better over longer distances, nonetheless remains nicely handicapped. A point-to-point and bumper winner, she showed promise when finishing third to Stormalong at Tramore in August and while narrowly defeated at Listowel last month, the aforementioned Stormalong won well next time. The selection has a big weight today but drops in grade. Dual winner Duke Otto has been running well and is ideally suited by this distance but is nonetheless reasonably exposed. 10-year-old mare Romella is a previous course-and-distance winner and is just 1lb higher than when finishing second at Fairyhouse recently, with today's rider now claiming 7lb.
STRAIGHT HOME is progressing nicely for her new stable and is taken to gain compensation for a narrow defeat at Listowel last month. Duke Otto and Romella head the dangers.
Willie Mullins' STRAIGHT HOME has plenty of weight to carry but she looks a class above the rest and can strike under Patrick Mullins

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (150/1 -127%) Emerald Flyer |
150/1(-127%) | (13) Emerald Flyer 150/1, Once-raced maiden. Hooded, twelfth of 17 in novice hurdle (40/1) at Listowel (16f, soft) on NH debut 26 days ago. Up in trip. Was always a worry when hooded on debut and ran no race on that occasion at Listowel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (150/1 +25%) Docteur Elysees |
150/1(+25%) | (4) Docteur Elysees 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, seventh of 11 in bumper at Punchestown (15.8f, good, 150/1) 9 days ago. 33/1(+0%) | (8) Phildante 33/1, 40/1, respectable third of 13 in bumper at Sligo (18.4f, soft) 77 days ago. Switches from bumpers to hurdles. First run for yard after leaving Roger McGrath. Needs to take a step forward but chance will be enhanced if the ground is on the good side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (16) (150/1 -127%) Sallap |
150/1(-127%) | (16) Sallap 150/1, Twice-raced maiden under Rules. Tenth of 14 in novice hurdle (100/1) at Limerick (16.3f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 4 days ago. Beaten out of sight in a Listowel bumper on debut and not much better in a Limerick maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (250/1 -25%) Shes My Getaway |
250/1(-25%) | (9) Shes My Getaway 250/1, Poor hurdler. Remains a maiden after 7 hurdle runs. Last of 13 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (20.2f, good to soft, 20/1). Off 14 months. The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TAREZE was pulled up in a Grade 1 contest when last seen in March but had previously shown good form and now returns following a summer break. A point-to-point winner, she chased home a subsequent Grade 3 winner in January and in that Punchestown race, finished 11 lengths clear of the now 123-rated Paggane. The selection subsequently ran well at the Kildare course in February and is forgiven her latest effort in that top-level Fairyhouse race as this is a much easier test. Ad Caelum is fit and well and has proven ability but might struggle to beat the selection, while Cottesloe Sunshine and Milanaway have place claims.
This represents a good opportunity for TAREZE, who shaped well when runner-up in a couple of Punchestown maiden hurdles prior to understandably finding Grade 1 company too hot at Fairyhouse on her final start of last season. Kilbarry Ce Ce could be the one to follow the selection home, with Cottesloe Sunshine and Whispering Hopes both make each-way appeal.
KILBARRY CE CE ran a lovely race on her debut behind a Willie Mullins-trained hotpot at Listowel and she'll relish the step up in trip

1st (3) (10/3 +26%) Win Some Lose Some |
10/3(+26%) | (3) Win Some Lose Some 10/3, 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Not in same form when tenth of 14 in handicap hurdle (17/2) at Listowel (20f, soft) 4 weeks ago. Mark looks on the high side. Winner of two of his last four starts, not the most fluent jumper, no impact at Listowel. |

2nd (5) (9/2 -125%) Old Bill Barley |
9/2(-125%) | (5) Old Bill Barley 9/2, 11/2, improved again when third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16.2f, good to soft) 18 days ago, looking more straightforward in the finish. Up in trip. Should give another good account nudged up 1 lb. Bumper winner, 0-6 hurdling but edging closer to a breakthrough judged on Tipperary third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (13/2 +19%) Karacole |
13/2(+19%) | (10) Karacole 13/2, Stiff task when well-beaten third of 5 in novice hurdle (6/1) at Kilbeggan (18.6f, good) a couple of months ago. Runner-up from this mark here in May, she holds each-way claims back in a handicap. Second over 2m at this venue in April when 5l in front of Zolpharine, stiff task on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/1 -64%) Great Bear |
9/1(-64%) | (1) Great Bear 9/1, 28/1, below-form thirteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Galway (16f, soft) 83 days ago. Up in trip. Strike-rate of 1-19 over jumps is off-putting, big burden here, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (8/1 +76%) Jeriko De Baune |
8/1(+76%) | (7) Jeriko De Baune 8/1, 40/1, shaped as if better for the run after 6 months off when ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (20f, soft) 4 weeks ago. Should be much closer to form here. Won two of his last five starts last season, likely to show the benefit of a Listowel run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 -60%) Junior Rattler |
12/1(-60%) | (8) Junior Rattler 12/1, Latest win in hurdle at Tipperary in May. 13/2, remained in good form when fifth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (22.6f, good) 5 months ago, every chance when stumbling last. Should go well. Gained third hurdles win in a 3m handicap at Tipperary in May, may need this after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (13/2 +68%) Cozone |
13/2(+68%) | (9) Cozone 13/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in October. Failed to repeat that effort when eleventh of 16 in handicap hurdle (14/1) at Punchestown (22.8f, good) 9 days ago. Won a claiming hurdle here on penultimate start, 2024 handicap form has been unconvincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (14/1 -17%) Drumgill |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Drumgill 14/1, 3 wins from 12 runs this season, latest at Ballinrobe in August. 11/1, fourth of 5 in rated novice hurdle at Killarney (17f, soft) 18 days ago, one paced from 3 out. Others more persuasive. Went up an aggregate 18lb for a summer hat-trick, has been too high in the handicap since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (7/1 +18%) Carlas Big Jim |
7/1(+18%) | (11) Carlas Big Jim 7/1, Course winner. 9/1, possibly needed run after 6 months off when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft) 4 weeks ago. Back up in trip. Two wins last term including at this venue, return to longer trip will suit after 2m runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (16/1 +52%) Zolpharine |
16/1(+52%) | (12) Zolpharine 16/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Let down by jumping when last of 5 in rated novice chase (12/1) at Cork (17.6f, good) 11 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Modest handicap form this year apart from fair fourth over 2m here in May, chasing lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (66/1 -230%) Kaleosun |
66/1(-230%) | (4) Kaleosun 66/1, Fared no better when tailed-off ninth of 12 in beginners chase at Tipperary (17.3f, good to soft, 40/1) on chasing debut 4 months ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. First run for yard after leaving Gordon Elliott. Disappointing since juvenile hurdle win for Gordon Elliott at Galway almost a year ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
C&D winner CARLAS BIG JIM should appreciate stepping back up to this distance having raced over the minimum trip on his two most recent starts. A winner here in February, the six-year-old followed up at Gowran Park on his next outing. Although only fourth at Listowel recently, that form has subsequently been boosted. Wexford winner Win Some Lose Some had looked quite progressive prior to finishing in rear at Listowel last time. The Padraig Roche-trained gelding might be able to get back on track here with the quicker ground likely to suit. Course and distance winner Cozone has to be respected back at a venue where he has excelled in the past.
OLD BILL BARLEY has been steadily progressive this season and arriving on the back of a solid third at Tipperary earlier this month, Willie Mullins' 7-y-o could well be the way to go. The main danger may emerge from Junior Rattler, who was in good order when last seen in the spring, with Jeriko de Baune and Karacole, who was runner-up from this mark here back in May, rounding off the shortlist.
A course winner during a spell of good form last season, CARLAS BIG JIM should appreciate a return to a longer trip after two 2m runs

Likely more to come yet. Talented 136-rated hurdler, has taken well to chasing, looks set to complete a hat-trick. |

6/5(+31%) | (3) Space Tourist 6/5, Three-time winner over hurdles who confirmed promise of her chase debut effort when winning at Tramore (22f, good to soft, 11/8) in August. Below that level at Sligo latest but must enter calculations here. Won a mares' beginners' at Tramore, jumped to the left when beaten favourite at Sligo. |

3rd (4) (25/1 +75%) Andyourbirdcansing |
25/1(+75%) | (4) Andyourbirdcansing 25/1, Fair hurdler. Fair winner at 18f over hurdles. Fourth of 8 in handicap chase (25/1) at Tramore (15.5f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Up against it. Kept busy since a maiden hurdle win at Sligo in June, this is ambitious for 99-rated mare. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The progressive SHECOULDBEANYTHING can complete her hat-trick over fences. The Gordon Elliott-trained seven-year-old finished runner-up at Galway on her chasing debut, before winning on her next two starts. A Grade 3 winner at Tipperary last time, she should find this easier despite having to concede weight to her rivals. Listed hurdle winner Space Tourist has yet to reach those same heights since switching to fences. Although successful at Tramore in August, the Willie Mullins-trained mare has been beaten either side of that win. Almost certainly capable of better, the daughter of Jet Away rates the main threat. Calico enters the equation too.

9/2(+63%) | (1) Routine Excellence 9/2, Off the mark for season in12-runner claiming hurdle at Bellewstown (20.5f, good) in August. However, failed by a long way to back that up when pulled up after 3 out in handicap hurdle at Listowel (24f, soft) 29 days ago. Returns to chasing now. Pulled up at Listowel but this is easier and the drop in trip will help back over fences. |

A winner at Cork on his debut over fences earlier this month, AH REMY MARTIN can make a successful transition into handicap company. The lightly raced son of Walk In The Park had shown promise in decent maiden hurdles over the winter months. Having finished in the frame on his two most recent runs over flights, the six-year-old made an instant impact on his chasing debut. Given his unexposed profile, the Thomas Gibney-trained gelding looks the one to beat. Lake Chad arrives here in winning form having won two of his last three starts. Although somewhat of a Tramore specialist, the gelding has twice been runner-up here. Clonbury Bridge is another to consider on his return to the larger obstacles.
Progressive over hurdles, AH REMY MARTIN made the perfect start over fences when landing a Cork maiden 11 days ago and, with the return to further looking likely to suit now handicapping, he looks to have plenty going for him again. General Clermont, Clonbury Bridge and Lake Chad, who arrives in rude health, are others to consider.
GENERAL CLERMONT was travelling sweetly when a faller at Punchestown latest and he's taken to get back on track back over fences

11/2(+15%) | (5) Katherine 11/2, 13/2, career best when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, good) 17 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Thriving and potentially well treated returning to this sphere. In-form handicap hurdler, has won her last two races, can improve on previous chase form. |

Recent Gowran Park winner FINNIANS ROW can register a third career success over fences. The Dermot McLoughlin-trained eight-year-old made all the running to win last time, jumping from fence to fence. Finding plenty when challenged in the straight, the gelding remains fairly treated off just 5lb higher. Having won her latest two starts over hurdles, Katherine is of obvious interest reverting to chasing. After just the three starts over fences, the mare is open to further improvement. Birdsandthebees should strip much fitter here after her recent reappearance. A promising sort over flights, the seven-year-old should be capable of winning races.
WARMER DAYS AHEAD has been going the right way over hurdles and reacted well to first-time blinkers when scoring at Roscommon 24 days ago, so he's worth chancing tackling the larger obstacles for the first time. Katherine returns to this sphere in search of a hat-trick and is 4 lb lower than when scoring over hurdles at Fairyhouse recently, so she's an obvious threat, while there's a strong case to be made for Finnians Row.
A 5lb rise may not stop FINNIANS ROW from confirming Gowran form with runner-up Bite That and fifth-placed Birdsandthebees
Ths is the racecard key.
