1st (6) (5/4 -71%) Eceparti |
5/4(-71%) | (6) Eceparti 5/4, Ended long losing run when obliterating his rivals from a mark that had fallen into the 90s for the first time on return here last week and hard to beat if turning up in similar form under a penalty. Hacked up over 3m2f last week and the one to beat if able to repeat the effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/1 +75%) King Turgeon |
7/1(+75%) | (2) King Turgeon 7/1, Placed both starts over fences in France. Back on track following a wind op when scoring at Fontwell (21.5f, soft) in March but disappointed next 2 starts. Off 6 months. Cheekpieces back on. Fontwell winner on heavy ground in March; not so good twice after; could revive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 +7%) Art Decco |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Art Decco 13/2, Has quickly made up into a better chaser than hurdler last season, opening his account at the fourth attempt over fences in handicap at Fontwell (21.6f) in January. Not disgraced on heavy ground final start and warrants respect on return. Fontwell winner in January; held off this mark next time; chance if ready after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (22/1 -57%) Doyouknowwhatimean |
22/1(-57%) | (1) Doyouknowwhatimean 22/1, Just modest form over hurdles but bumper form gives him the scope for better and he has enough size for chasing. Worth monitoring in the market back from 5 months off. Maiden; fair fourth over hurdles in April; improvement needed on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (8/1 +6%) Head And Heart |
8/1(+6%) | (7) Head And Heart 8/1, Got off the mark in 3m handicap chase at Huntingdon in April and signed off with a good third at Ffos Las (23.8f, soft) following month. Not taken lightly on her return. Absent since May but won the previous month and still has potential as a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +72%) Rouge De L'quest |
9/2(+72%) | (4) Rouge De L'quest 9/2, Winning pointer who ran best race over hurdles when second of 4 in handicap here final start. Off 7 months. Makes chase debut. Maiden over hurdles last season but may well do better now sent chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (10/1 -54%) Faustinovick |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Faustinovick 10/1, Made a winning reappearance at Chepstow last season but shaped as if needing the run there on this occasion last month. Won this last year but that's his only success from 21 attempts over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 -60%) Mister Murchan |
40/1(-60%) | (8) Mister Murchan 40/1, Mostly out of sorts last term though ought to have won off reduced mark at Fontwell final start (idled and collared last 50 yds). Off 7 months. Both chase wins gained on heavy ground; modest record when fresh, however. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ECEPARTI romped home on his seasonal reappearance last month and a 7lb penalty might not be enough to stop Venetia Williams' gelding from repeating that success. Connections have wasted no time in sending Doyouknowwhatimean over fences and he merits respect for the Dan Skelton team, while Faustinovick, whose sole chasing success came in this race 12 months ago, is another to consider.
ECEPARTI obliterated his rivals off a career-low mark on his return here last week and a 7 lb penalty shouldn't be enough to prevent the follow up. Art Decco and Head And Heart can follow the selection home.
Eceparti won well last week but is taken on with chasing newcomer ROUGE DE L'QUEST.

1st (2) (6/4 +20%) Colonel Harry |
6/4(+20%) | (2) Colonel Harry 6/4, Ex-pointer who quickly developed into a likeable and useful hurdler last season. Very much the type to take to chasing and a solid showing is expected on return. Smart hurdler; front-runner with the build for fences and he's an exciting prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (17/2 -6%) Out Of Office |
17/2(-6%) | (3) Out Of Office 17/2, Shirocco gelding who won his only start in Irish points and scored impressively in 15-runner novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) in December. Disappointed under a penalty after 3 months off at Taunton and fell first on chasing debut at Ffos Las recently. Got no further than the first when 17-2 for a novice handicap chase at Ffos Las last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/5 -10%) Tahmuras |
4/5(-10%) | (1) Tahmuras 4/5, Point/bumper scorer who created a good impression when winning his first 3 starts over hurdles, including the Grade 1 Tolworth at Sandown. Bit disappointing after but very much the type to make a chaser, so worth a chance to get back to winning ways on return after a wind op. Grade 1 winner over hurdles and promises to be even better as a chaser. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Tahmuras (winner) had the measure of COLONEL HARRY (fourth) in the Tolworth in January, but it might be a different story over fences. Jamie Snowden's charge looks the likely pace angle here and his earlier Sandown success would suggest that he might take some catching on the forecast ground conditions. Out Of Office took an early fall on his chasing debut last month but he should not be underestimated.
TAHMURAS is a Grade-1 winning hurdler who appeals as the type to do better over the larger obstacles, so he's fancied to make a winning return. Colonel Harry, another ex-pointer, is an obvious threat.
Tahmuras naturally commands great respect but COLONEL HARRY could be hard to reel in if finding some early rhythm out in front.

1st (6) (7/4 +13%) Jackpot D'athou |
7/4(+13%) | (6) Jackpot D'athou 7/4, €165,000 purchase on the back of finishing runner-up sole start in a French bumper and similar form when twice hitting the frame for new yard in that sphere during the spring. Good prospect now hurdling for leading outfit/following wind op. Placed in two big-field bumpers towards end of last season; should go well on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) (14/1 +0%) Party Vibes |
14/1(+0%) | (13) Party Vibes 14/1, £45,000 purchase after finishing runner-up on her completed start in Irish points. Interesting to see how she goes in the betting with yard also responsible for Fresh Speculation. Second in Irish maiden point in April; makes rules debut after £45,000 sale. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (20/1 +60%) Inion Tiogair |
20/1(+60%) | (11) Inion Tiogair 20/1, Fair winner at 2m in bumpers who shaped much better than distance beaten suggests when seventh of 12 in novice hurdle (10/1) at this C&D (soft) on hurdles bow 26 days ago. Should improve. Bumper winner; ran well for a long way in C&D hurdle last month but others look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -11%) Ask Brewster |
10/1(-11%) | (2) Ask Brewster 10/1, £50,000 4-y-o, Ask gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/high-class chaser (stayed 3m) Last Instalment and fairly useful hurdler (stayed 3m) King Boru. Won sole start in points (Mar 26) and interesting what the market makes of him on Rules/hurdles debut. Bought for £50,000 after maiden point win in March; makes rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (28/1 -12%) Fresh Speculation |
28/1(-12%) | (5) Fresh Speculation 28/1, Sixth of 10 in bumper at Worcester (2m, soft, 10/1) on debut in May. Switches to hurdles now but probably one for later on in this sphere. Made low-key bumper debut when well-held sixth of ten at Worcester in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/8 +54%) Anytrixwilldo |
11/8(+54%) | (1) Anytrixwilldo 11/8, €33,000 3-y-o, Flemensfirth gelding. Friendless in betting but produced a promising first effort when midfield in 10-runner C&D novice on hurdles debut back in February, noted finishing with running left. Looks sure to improve on that bare form this term. Creditable fifth in good-quality C&D novice on debut in February; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (22/1 +33%) Ballynaheer |
22/1(+33%) | (3) Ballynaheer 22/1, £36,000 4-y-o, Mahler gelding. Brother to fair 2½m hurdle winner Transfer Friendly. Dam unraced. Runner-up on completed start in points (Apr 16) so he can't be dismissed. Joined David Dennis for £36,000 after finishing second of five in maiden point in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (28/1 -155%) Molly Sanderson |
28/1(-155%) | (12) Molly Sanderson 28/1, €19,000 3-y-o, £120,000 4-y-o, Affinisea mare. Half-sister to useful hurdler Finawn Bawn, stays 3m, and fair chaser Coole Lion. Challenging when fell last sole start in Irish points (Mar 2022). Interesting Rules debutante. Bought for £120,000 soon after promising Irish point debut in March 2022; rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 -100%) The Cox Express |
50/1(-100%) | (9) The Cox Express 50/1, Won 6-runner bumper at Warwick (16f, heavy) on NH debut in January for Tom Lacey but ran poorly on hurdles bow at Catterick the following month and has since joined new yard. Won six-runner bumper on debut but subsequent hurdling debut was disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (300/1 -100%) Captain Copper |
300/1(-100%) | (4) Captain Copper 300/1, Failed to trouble the judge in a handful of runs between the flags and no show either start over hurdles last month. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Well beaten at triple-digit odds on both hurdling starts last month (2m4f/2m1f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (14/1 +13%) Renegade Arrow |
14/1(+13%) | (8) Renegade Arrow 14/1, Built on a promising debut to come from a fair way back and land 7-runner bumper (11/4) at Perth (16.2f, good to soft) in September 2021. Off since, so market can act as guide now hurdling. Won run-of-the-mill bumper in 2021; makes hurdling debut after long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (300/1 -200%) James Baie |
300/1(-200%) | (7) James Baie 300/1, Showed only modest form in a pair of bumpers for Harriet Dickin and well beaten on yard/hurdles debut at Ludlow last month. Tailed off when 200-1 for recent stable/hurdle debut at Ludlow. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ASK BREWSTER was a winner between the flags in March and the son of Ask went on to fetch 50,000 pounds the following month. Now in the care of Evan Williams, it would be no surprise to see him make an immediate impact on his Rules debut. Jackpot D'athou showed a decent level of form in bumpers last season and he must enter calculations, along with Anytrixwilldo, who posted a creditable fifth over C&D on his racecourse bow.
There was promise to glean from all three of JACKPOT D'ATHOU's exploits in bumpers and he can make a bold bid on return with his attentions switched to hurdling for the first time. Anytrixwilldo and Flying Fortune have both displayed promise over hurdles and can also feature, with Ask Brewster and Molly Sanderson a couple of point recruits to note.
Jonjo O'Neill's ANYTRIXWILLDO (nap) saw his race out well when fifth in a good C&D novice in February and gets the nod.

1st (3) (5/2 -43%) Heros De Romay |
5/2(-43%) | (3) Heros De Romay 5/2, Half-brother to useful hurdler/very smart chaser Espoir de Romay and off the mark at the first attempt in a bumper at Exeter in January. Turned over when a warm order at Hereford next time, but still looked a work in progress there and can do better now faced with a stiffer test on this hurdles bow. Half-brother to very smart chaser Espoir De Romay; won heavy-ground bumper in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (13/2 +54%) Livin On Luco |
13/2(+54%) | (5) Livin On Luco 13/2, Twice-raced between the flags, faring better than on his debut when going close on latest start in March. Joined a good yard now that he embarks on a career under Rules and is one to note in the betting. Went close in heavy-ground Irish point in March; the winner has struggled over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 -33%) Minella Blueway |
10/1(-33%) | (7) Minella Blueway 10/1, Closely related to fairly useful hurdler Priory Park (2½m winner) and was a decisive winner of the first of his 2 starts in points earlier this year (touched off in a match in the other). Connections struck with a similar type over this C&D recently and he's one to consider. Won heavy-ground Irish point in March; bought for £37,000; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (9/1 +36%) Strackan |
9/1(+36%) | (9) Strackan 9/1, Offered something to work on when fourth of 7 on debut in a Warwick bumper (2m, heavy) during the spring. Better can be expected now moving up in trip for this hurdles debut and he's worth considering. Just a respectable fourth on bumper debut but today's step up trip is very likely to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (13/2 -63%) Hurricane Danny |
13/2(-63%) | (4) Hurricane Danny 13/2, Low-key debut in 2m bumper here last October but shaped with greater promise when fifth of 14 back here when returning from a break in February, keeping on when badly hampered 1f out. Likely to be seen in a better light now upped in trip for this hurdles bow. With a top stable but was beaten about 29l in two course bumpers last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/4 +44%) Captain Wallace |
9/4(+44%) | (2) Captain Wallace 9/4, Brother to 2 winners, including fairly useful chaser Jimmil, and closely related to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Wolf Shield. Went close on the second of his 2 starts in Irish maiden points earlier this year and he's of strong interest for his in-form yard on Rules debut. Very close second to a subsequent bumper winner in soft-ground Irish point in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +78%) Mac's Legacy |
11/1(+78%) | (6) Mac's Legacy 11/1, Brother to a bumper winner and signs of ability when fourth of 9 on debut in that sphere at Hereford in April. Failed to build on that next time, though, and while this stiffer test should be in his favour now switched to hurdles, he's probably more of a long-term project. Ran well to a point in two bumpers in April but others have stronger claims here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (100/1 +0%) Jongleur D'Etoiles |
100/1(+0%) | (8) Jongleur D'Etoiles 100/1, Failed to meet expectations on sole bumper outing and, after 5 months off, finished well held at much bigger odds (66/1) in novice at Fontwell on hurdling debut in October. May be one for further down the line. Well beaten when 66-1 for recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (150/1 -50%) The Flying Fig |
150/1(-50%) | (10) The Flying Fig 150/1, Offered little in 2 starts over hurdles at the beginning of the year, latterly behind when unseated rider 2 out in junior event at Newbury in February. Best watched. Unseated rider on both hurdling starts in early part of this year; can only be watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HEROS DE ROMAY, a half-brother to the useful hurdler/chaser Espoir De Romay, won a bumper on debut in January before posting a respectable effort under a penalty in a similar race last time out. Open to any amount of improvement now sent hurdling, Kim Bailey's gelding heads the shortlist over the former point-to-pointers Captain Wallace, Minella Blueway and Livin On Luco.
CAPTAIN WALLACE and Minella Blueway are likely-looking recruits from the point scene and may well come to the fore in this maiden hurdle. The latter's connections struck with a similar type (Minella Missile) making his Rules debut over this C&D recently and he is strongly considered. However, preference is for Captain Wallace, who represents an in-form yard and the rival he was narrowly beaten by in March has since won under Rules. Heros de Romay and Hurricane Danny complete the shortlist.
Kim Bailey's HEROS DE ROMAY was learning on the job in bumpers last season but still managed to win one on heavy ground.

1st (7) (7/2 +46%) Shesupincourt |
7/2(+46%) | (7) Shesupincourt 7/2, Remains a maiden following 16 attempts over hurdles, but has found just one too good on 6 occasions and she's entitled to come on for her recent reappearance spin at Hereford (21.7f, good). Each-way shout with conditions no problem. Second six times over hurdles last season and made satisfactory return last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/2 -30%) Cooleenymore |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Cooleenymore 13/2, Bettered previous efforts under Rules when second in an 8-runner novice hurdle at Ffos Las (2½m, good to firm) when last seen in May. Likely to benefit from this step up in trip and possibilities if able to build on that effort under contrasting conditions here. Displayed significant promise in three maiden/novice hurdles in spring; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (25/1 +0%) Committee Of One |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Committee Of One 25/1, Now 20 lb below the mark off which she landed a Ffos Las handicap in February 2021, but hasn't come close to matching that form in half-a-dozen subsequent appearances. Safely held on chasing debut in April and returns from latest absence with a lot to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 -27%) Our Friend Mo |
7/1(-27%) | (4) Our Friend Mo 7/1, Third in her sole Irish point and showed ability in 3 hurdles starts earlier this year. Yard in good form and improvement on the cards now faced with a stiffer test on this handicap debut. Placed in a point and also showed ability in her qualifying races; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +47%) Pageant Material |
4/1(+47%) | (5) Pageant Material 4/1, Winner in this sphere and over fences at Ffos Las last season, and creditable third in a handicap chase on her reappearance at that course (21.5f, good to soft) 24 days ago. 1 lb lower back hurdling and she's in with a shout. Ran well in a chase last month and will be very well suited by today's ground; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (7/4 +47%) Arctic Footprint |
7/4(+47%) | (9) Arctic Footprint 7/4, On a good mark judged on peak form a couple of seasons back, but she didn't show much in 4 runs following a lengthy absence last term. Still, she's one to note in the betting starting out for her new yard here. Out of form last winter but makes stable debut from very attractive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (25/1 +50%) Gardons La |
25/1(+50%) | (3) Gardons La 25/1, Just a modicum of promise in 2 starts in France and showed little starting out for new connections following a 12-month absence at Worcester in May. Big step forward needed now handicapping. Well beaten over 2m on British debut; hiked up in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -211%) Country Kitten |
28/1(-211%) | (6) Country Kitten 28/1, Caused a surprise when taking 6-runner handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f, heavy) in March, but that is very much a standout effort and she's failed to complete both starts in this sphere. Surprise winner at Market Rasen two starts ago but has poor completion record for stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Both Lady Wilberry and COOLEENYMORE dropped significant hints that their turn is close to hand with respectable second-placed finishes last time out. However, the form of the latter's effort looks more compelling and earns her the vote on her handicap bow. Pageant Material and Our Friend Mo are a couple of others capable of making the frame in an open event.
There was enough promise in OUR FRIEND MO's qualifying runs to suggest that she will have a big part to play now pitched into a handicap off a reasonable opening mark. She gets the nod ahead of Lady Wilberry, who hit the crossbar twice over fences during the spring and will be a threat if able to reproduce that form back in this sphere. Arctic Footprint could have a part to play, too, if the change of scenery (debut for new yard) perks her up and Cooleenymore is also considered.
Top of the list is COOLEENYMORE, who looked quite promising in novice company at around 2m4f in the spring and now moves up in trip.

1st (10) (9/2 +25%) Wot You Wearing |
9/2(+25%) | (10) Wot You Wearing 9/2, Winner in hurdle at Uttoxeter in September. 6/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Hereford (21.7f, good) 15 days ago. Should give another good account. Placed off this mark since handicap debut win in September; not yet proven on slow ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (15) (5/1 +38%) Portentoso |
5/1(+38%) | (15) Portentoso 5/1, Didn't leave the impression that he retains much ability last season and returns from 8 months off with plenty to prove. Chase and dual hurdle winner in France but yet to get seriously competitive in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (9/1 -38%) Richardson |
9/1(-38%) | (12) Richardson 9/1, Poor handicap hurdler who produced one of his better efforts when second at Stratford 7 months off. Has left John Groucott since and isn't sure to be in the same form. Just 1-15 over hurdles and not reliable but very well suited by heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (16/1 -33%) Jimmy Boum |
16/1(-33%) | (11) Jimmy Boum 16/1, Has only hinted at ability to date but likely to strip fitter for his latest run in a novice at this course. Step back up in trip should suit and he's worth watching in the betting on handicap debut. Twice well beaten since fairly encouraging hurdle debut but still open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (66/1 +0%) Journey West |
66/1(+0%) | (6) Journey West 66/1, First run since leaving Colin A. McBratney when 66/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Bangor (23f, good) 96 days ago. Easily opposed. Struggled when 66-1 for stable debut in August; headgear switched here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (22/1 -10%) Beaufort West |
22/1(-10%) | (5) Beaufort West 22/1, Seemed to show more spark when third over hurdles at Plumpton (25f) in February but not matched that since and will probably need this first outing for 6 months. On a good mark now but was out of form when last seen in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (6/1 +57%) Champagne Rhythm |
6/1(+57%) | (1) Champagne Rhythm 6/1, Fairly useful hurdler who won over C&D in 2021. Hasn't been seen for 19 months but handicapper has given him a chance, so worthy of a market check. Out of form when last seen but returns from long layoff on very good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (16/1 -60%) Chankaya |
16/1(-60%) | (3) Chankaya 16/1, Fair form at best on Flat and, while he hasn't quite achieved a similar level over hurdles, he wasn't disgraced in a novice at Uttoxeter a month ago. Scope for more now handicapping. Made the frame twice in novice company this autumn; more progress needed on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (10/1 +50%) Night Jet |
10/1(+50%) | (8) Night Jet 10/1, Out of a mare who did well for the same connections and fair form in a couple of bumpers. Yet to make much impact but it's still early days. Not completely dismissed on reappearance. Not yet fully exposed but absent since 27l defeat at Hereford in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (16) (20/1 +60%) Foillmore |
20/1(+60%) | (16) Foillmore 20/1, Poor maiden hurdler who is up against it once more from out of the weights. Soundly beaten on both starts this season (chase/hurdle) and now 0-15 under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4/1 -14%) Leading Swoop |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Leading Swoop 4/1, Fair maiden hurdler who took a step forward when runner-up in 22f handicap at Fontwell in January. Off since but makes plenty of appeal if he's ready to go. Placed in first two handicaps; contender if fully tuned up after 283-day absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (17) (18/1 +28%) Invincible De Mee |
18/1(+28%) | (17) Invincible De Mee 18/1, Failed to get off the mark in 7 attempts in French bumpers and just poor form over hurdles so far. Amiss at Bangor when last seen 7 months ago, so returns with something to prove. Made the frame in first two handicaps but absent since poor run in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (28/1 -40%) Be My Sea |
28/1(-40%) | (4) Be My Sea 28/1, Modest handicap hurdler who won a Flat handicap when last seen. That was 19 months ago (has left Tony Carroll since), however, and it's hard to know how much ability he retains. 28/1(+44%) | (14) Henzo Des Boullats 28/1, Well held in varied events over hurdles so far and looks set for another struggle on return. Well beaten when 66-1 for handicap debut at Ffos Las six months ago. |

|PU| (18) (33/1 +18%) Demothi |
33/1(+18%) | (18) Demothi 33/1, Placed in points but no better than poor form under Rules so far, so needs to up his game. 0-15 under all codes and makes seasonal debut from 6lb out of the handicap. |

|PU| (9) (40/1 +0%) Nancy Till |
40/1(+0%) | (9) Nancy Till 40/1, Promising in Irish points but yet to get anywhere near replicating that over hurdles. Tried in a hood for return but hard to make any sort of case for. Well down the field when 50-1 for handicap debut; drops back in trip with hood added here. |

|RO| (13) (20/1 -67%) Well Paid Soldier |
20/1(-67%) | (13) Well Paid Soldier 20/1, Well held in 3 quick qualifying runs in the spring but appeals as one who could fare better now handicapping. One to note in the betting. Showed only tiny glimmers of promise in three maiden hurdles; may fare better in handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CHAMPAGNE RHYTHM was officially rated 125 when winning his maiden hurdle over C&D in February 2021 and, although unsuccessful since, a rating of just 100 now looks more sensible on his return to action. Chankaya remains a maiden but could be a danger back on heavy ground, leaving the recent Hereford third Wot You Wearing as the best of those further down the handicap.
LEADING SWOOP found improvement when runner-up at Fontwell 9 months ago and, for all that he's not been seen since, he's worth chancing to go one better. Wot You Wearing should give his running again and Champagne Rhythm is one to note if the market speaks in his favour.
A chance is taken on CHAMPAGNE RHYTHM, who has been absent for a good while but showed useful form over C&D on slow ground as a novice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Trainer Paul Nicholls has won three of the last five renewals of this race, and he has an interesting newcomer here in Jacobin, who is worthy of a market inspection, as well as Mount Gay Run, who looks the second string on jockey bookings. I SEE THE SEA cost 160,000 pounds after finishing second in an Irish point-to-point and he may also go well on his debut under Rules, as could Rocking Man.
A bumper full of newcomers and likely a decent one with some powerful yards represented, JACOBIN making the most appeal before market clues. His stablemate Mount Gay Run is another likely type along with point runner-up I See The Sea.
A very interesting bumper on paper. Irish point runner-up I SEE THE SEA is tentatively given the vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
