|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (33/1 -18%) Proficient |
33/1(-18%) | (9) Proficient 33/1, Fared little better than previously when ninth of 12 in minor event at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 50/1) 15 days ago. Needs to leave her previous efforts well behind dropped in trip. Initial mark stiff and she will need improvement to break her duck on this nursery debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This looks a tricky puzzle for punters to solve and only a tentative vote goes to CHARLIE MASON, who has been threatening to score and his one-length second off 2lb lower when dropped to 5f at Beverley last time gives him a big shout in this company. Goodeveningmrbond has been eased 1lb for a promising third over 6f on soft ground at Doncaster, but the shorter trip and quicker ground are a concern, while a sliding mark brings Moe's Legacy into the equation. Torvar wasn't beaten too far off 2lb higher at Musselburgh last month and he is another to consider.
CHARLIE MASON improved in a first-time visor when runner-up at Beverley 11 days ago, despite having suffered early interference, and he can take another step forward to open his account. Goodeveningmrbond also showed more on his latest outing and is respected, with Torvar completing the shortlist.
A weak contest and CHARLIE MASON (nap) is taken to atone for his defeat when having a tricky passage at Beverley last time.

2nd (10) (1.25/1 +44%) Secret Bid |

6th (11) (150/1 -50%) Weston Court |
150/1(-50%) | (11) Weston Court 150/1, Has finished well held both outings, looking a hard ride when ninth of 10 in maiden at Ffos Las (7.4f, heavy, 200/1) 20 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Tailed off over similar distances at Leicester (good to firm) and Ffos Las (soft). |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (7) (28/1 -100%) History Awaits |
28/1(-100%) | (7) History Awaits 28/1, Shaped as if better for run when seventh of 10 in maiden at Kempton (7f, 17/2) on debut 14 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Bred for more stamina than speed. Only 17-2 at Kempton (7f AW) but couldn't pick up from a midfield position. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Secret Bid travelled well when beaten just three-quarters of a length into fourth over this trip at Kempton on debut and he should go close, but slight preference is for MIGUEL. Jack Channon's colt stayed on very well for second once the penny dropped over 6f here last month and, expected to relish this extra furlong, he can show the benefit of that experience to go one better. Compton Bay hinted at ability on his introduction at Epsom, while Duely Spiced has filled the runner-up spot on both starts to date and she's worth a second look.
SECRET BID showed plenty of ability when fourth at Kempton a fortnight ago and he can build on that experience to score at the second time of asking. Archie Watson's colt can see off the challenge of Miguel, who made an encouraging start when runner-up at this course last month, while Emirates Angel is another to consider upped in trip.
Jack Channon's MIGUEL might be the answer after running well here on his debut over shorter behind one who has since followed up.

However, could fare better back in novice company. Last in a three-runner nursery at Ffos Las (7.5f, soft) recently; drops 2lb; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (0.18/1 +82%) Mexicali Rose |
0.18/1(+82%) | (4) Mexicali Rose 0.18/1, Finished with running left when third of 12 in minor event at Lingfield (7f, AW, 4/9) 79 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Remains open to progress and can open her account this time around. Back from a break with trainer's runners in form and has best form in field; big player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (28/1 -12%) Hawk Jet |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Hawk Jet 28/1, Ran to similar level as on debut when third of 6 in minor event at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 80/1) 25 days ago. Needs to step forward on what she's shown so far as she drops in trip. Has shown minor ability in two starts at around 1m but much more needed to get involved.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (50/1 -150%) Perovskia |
50/1(-150%) | (7) Perovskia 50/1, Never dangerous when fourth of 7 in minor event at Wetherby (7f, good to firm, 12/1) in May on debut. Likely to do better in time. Didn't show a huge amount on debut in a Wetherby novice event in May; much more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/1 -71%) Concon Candy |
6/1(-71%) | (1) Concon Candy 6/1, Improved from debut when third of 12 in minor event at Chelmsford City (7f, 11/2) in April. Cheekpieces on 1st time and she could still have more to offer after a break. Promising filly; returns from a break for her turf debut in cheekpieces; player.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Concon Candy has displayed ability when making the frame at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford, but preference is for the proven turf form of MEXICALI ROSE. Ralph Beckett's filly began the season with second-placed finishes at Leicester and Nottingham, before a half-length third off this mark at Lingfield when last seen in June and she sets the standard in this company. Ithra looks best of the rest.
MEXICALI ROSE was unsuited by the emphasis on speed at Lingfield last time, but she had previously shaped well on handicap debut and is taken to resume her progress to get off the mark. Concon Candy is open to further improvement on only her third start and looks to be the main danger, with Ithra the pick of the remainder.
This looks best left to MEXICALI ROSE, who has the best form in the field and is taken to break her duck for a stable in good form.

1st (9) (7.5/1 -36%) King Of War |
7.5/1(-36%) | (9) King Of War 7.5/1, C&D winner. Good second of 9 in handicap (12/1) at Lingfield (7f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Claims if he can build on that. Perhaps went off too fast when not quite seeing it out at Lingfield. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3.33/1 +49%) Little Boy Blue |
3.33/1(+49%) | (3) Little Boy Blue 3.33/1, C&D winner in June. Respectable fourth of 7 in handicap at Brighton (7f, good, 9/2) 18 days ago. Not discounted. Best at Brighton but also runs this track well and current mark is very manageable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 -9%) Redredrobin |
3/1(-9%) | (6) Redredrobin 3/1, C&D winner in 2022 and has won 5 times elsewhere in a very productive 2023. Creditable second of 6 in handicap at Epsom (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Another prominent showing likely. Just missed out on the hat-trick when runner-up at Epsom but again ran with credit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6.5/1 +0%) Macs Dilemma |
6.5/1(+0%) | (4) Macs Dilemma 6.5/1, Three-time C&D winner, the latest in July. Type to bounce back from a rare below-par run in a Racing league handicap over C&D 18 days ago. Blinkered first time. Had been in really good form until beating only one home on his latest visit here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 +30%) Baileysgutfeeling |
14/1(+30%) | (1) Baileysgutfeeling 14/1, Won a Leicester seller in June (final start for Kevin Philippart de Foy) . 80/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Kempton (1m) 5 days ago. Tonge strap on first time. Others are more obvious. Started off okay for this yard but has regressed sharply the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/1 +10%) Tiriac |
9/1(+10%) | (7) Tiriac 9/1, Won a 6f Doncaster maiden in the mud last November but has struggled in 3 handicaps this year. Needs a wind op since last seen in June to have had a positive effect. Made no impression in his three handicaps and now returns from wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (3/1 +14%) Autumn Festival |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Autumn Festival 3/1, C&D winner. Seven wins from 25 Flat runs. Had excuses when last of 11 at Beverley latest and back on a good mark if staging a revival. Inconsistent this year but he's due a good run after his no-show at Beverley. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Redredrobin has enjoyed a profitable campaign with five wins from her last eight starts. However, she looks vulnerable back up in class, while Macs Dilemma, who won over C&D last month, also makes the shortlist dropping back in trip. Nevertheless, LITTLE BOY BLUE appeals most off just 1lb higher than his own C&D success in June and he could be difficult to overhaul if allowed a soft lead.
AUTUMN FESTIVAL has a mixed record this year but is well handicapped and is worth chancing at a venue where he's tasted success before. C&D specialist Macs Dilemma is second choice ahead of the prolific Redredrobin.
Mark Walford's CORI GLORY appeared to be coming along nicely until getting stuck in the mud at Beverley.

1st (5) (7.5/1 -50%) Pavlodar |
7.5/1(-50%) | (5) Pavlodar 7.5/1, Very good second of 9 in handicap over C&D (good to soft, 16/1) 31 days ago. Can make presence felt off an unchanged mark. Much better returned to 7f when just missing out here a month ago; same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (8/1 -78%) Fact Or Fable |
8/1(-78%) | (8) Fact Or Fable 8/1, Three-time C&D winner this year, the latest in game fashion on Thursday. More on his plate under a 5 lb penalty but can't be discounted in his current mood. Prominent racer who should give his running once more despite carrying a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6.5/1 -8%) Thewaytothestars |
6.5/1(-8%) | (3) Thewaytothestars 6.5/1, Won at Ffos Las (7f) and Windsor (1m) this month. Possibly couldn't cope with a quick turnaround when only fifth of 7 back at Ffos Las (1m) 12 days ago. Beaten under a double penalty last time and up another 1lb for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6.5/1 -30%) Roscioli |
6.5/1(-30%) | (1) Roscioli 6.5/1, Latest win at Brighton in June. 17/2, good second of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (7.6f, good to soft) 28 days ago, no match for winner. Solid efforts on his last three runs and the race didn't go like clockwork last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (16/1 -191%) Dourado |
16/1(-191%) | (6) Dourado 16/1, Winner of AW at Kempton in May and bounced straight back from a poor run at Lingfield when landing a 13-runner handicap at Windsor (1m, good, 16/1) 35 days ago. Should remain competitive up 4 lb. Back up a combined 7lb after winning two of his last three; perhaps best at 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -115%) Ibiza Rocks |
14/1(-115%) | (2) Ibiza Rocks 14/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2020. 6/1, fifth of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (7f) 25 days ago. First-time blinkers (replacing cheekpieces) need to have a positive effect. Hasn't kicked on from a respectable start for this yard and now goes in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (12/1 +14%) Iconic Knight |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Iconic Knight 12/1, Three-time C&D winner. Below par this year but not seen to best effect on recent stable debut and well handicapped if staging a revival. One to note in the betting. Reservations after finishing only seventh on recent stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (33/1 -65%) What A Whopper |
33/1(-65%) | (9) What A Whopper 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (6f, good to soft, 80/1) 18 days ago. Blinkers on first time. Has work to do. Achieved little to date, including two handicaps; blinkers need to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (22/1 -57%) Chindwin |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Chindwin 22/1, Down the field in 3 handicaps this year. Mark on the slide but need to see a lot more. Unplaced in all six starts and has been well down the field in his handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (1.5/1 +70%) Coffeemeanscoffee |
1.5/1(+70%) | (11) Coffeemeanscoffee 1.5/1, C&D winner in July and followed up over 6f at Ffos Las 3 days later. Shaped as if still in good form when fifth over 1m here on Thursday and this return to 7f should be in her favour. Player. Better expected back at this trip off what remains a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (25/1 -108%) Star Map |
25/1(-108%) | (10) Star Map 25/1, Second in a 6f Doncaster maiden in May but well beaten on all 3 other starts, including Newcastle handicap debut 25 days ago. Is effectively 6 lb lower this time if Billy Loughnane's claims is taken into account. Her second at Doncaster in May is very much a standout and that was a modest race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (150/1 -127%) Patrioctic |
150/1(-127%) | (12) Patrioctic 150/1, No form of worth on Flat and pulled over hurdles when last seen in May. Pulled up in novice hurdle on sole run this year; has achieved little on the Flat. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
FACT OR FABLE is an appealing option turned out under a 5lb penalty for last week's C&D success. That was his third victory at this venue and his proven effectiveness on these undulations is a very persuasive factor. Dourado also commands respect on the back of his Windsor success and can go well again, despite dropping back in trip off a 4lb higher mark. Thewaytothestars and Coffeemeanscoffee are others for the shortlist.
COFFEEMEANSCOFFEE was possibly stretched by 1m here last week and is narrowly preferred to last-time-out C&D second Pavlodar. Fact Or Fable may not be obviously well treated under a 5 lb penalty for Thursday's C&D win but his very good record here this year makes him a must for the shortlist.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Musical Mystery made a successful debut for the Ed Dunlop yard at Lingfield 13 days ago and dropping back a furlong should be fine if he copes with the 4lb rise. Contrastingly, Hastily is back up in distance after his 5f triumph here last week and may well bush aside the 5lb penalty. However, the in-form DANDYS DERRIERE shades preference from a attractive mark and he holds another live chance back on turf.
MUSICAL MSYTERY made a winning start for the Ed Dunlop yard at Lingfield a couple of weeks ago and might be able to follow up off 4 lb higher. Dandys Derriere really has found form in the second half of the summer and is feared most ahead of Thursday's course scorer Hastily.
Ths is the racecard key.
