1st (2) ![]() Juby Ball |
1/4(+50%) | (2) Juby Ball 1/4, Useful bumper scorer who made a highly promising start in this sphere when landing 11-runner novice at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy) 29 days ago. An exciting prospect and the one to beat. Beat a next-time-out winner fairly comfortably on last month's hurdling debut; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Ben Solo |
3/1(-20%) | (1) Ben Solo 3/1, Debut C&D winner in October and took his form up a level when second of 9 in novice hurdle at Ffos Las (20f, heavy) 52 days ago. A likely player once more. C&D winner in October and returned to form with 2m4f Ffos Las second in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Benignitas |
125/1(-89%) | (10) Benignitas 125/1, Modest Irish maiden on Flat in 2021. Has since won in points but market can guide now going hurdling. Came third in a restricted point last spring but makes very limited appeal here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Luna De Castana |
20/1(-82%) | (11) Luna De Castana 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden who took a big step forward when fifth of 10 in novice hurdle at Warwick (19f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Possibilities. Second hurdle run was much better than her debut but she still has a lot to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Midnight View |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Midnight View 50/1, 50/1, seventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Hereford (16.2f, good to soft) on NH debut 25 days ago. Needs to build on it. Made fairly encouraging debut last month but probably one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Stinginhisstep |
250/1(-150%) | (8) Stinginhisstep 250/1, Modest form at best in bumpers, too free when eleventh of 12 in bumper at Exeter (16.7f, heavy) 65 days ago. Needs to settle now going hurdling. Raced far too freely and was soundly beaten in all three bumpers; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Chateau Du Lys |
200/1(+0%) | (4) Chateau Du Lys 200/1, Runner-up sole start in points but no short-term promise in a pair of novice hurdles at Ffos Las and Plumpton this winter. A tailed-off outsider in two novice hurdles towards end of 2024. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Clever Relation |
125/1(-89%) | (5) Clever Relation 125/1, Fair winner at 11f on flat. 250/1, first run since leaving Hughie Morrison when eighth of 13 in novice hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, good) on NH debut 59 days ago. Won a Flat seller last summer but was safely held on stable/hurdle debut in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) ![]() Mini Fortune |
16/1(+0%) | (12) Mini Fortune 16/1, 7,000 gns 6-y-o, Soldier of Fortune mare. Half-sister to 2 winners, including fair hurdler Piper Hill. Prolific winning pointer so no forlorn hope on her belated hurdling bow. Thrived in points in early 2024 (five wins) but makes rules debut after a layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (9) ![]() Welcheston Warrier |
28/1(+15%) | (9) Welcheston Warrier 28/1, Offered little only start in bumpers and only minor promise when sixth of 11 in novice at Worcester (2m, heavy) on hurdles bow in October. Much more is needed. Not disgraced on hurdling debut in October but needs to take a huge step forward here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) ![]() Ballymena Boy |
40/1(-21%) | (3) Ballymena Boy 40/1, Runner-up in a point before tongue tied when only fourth of 5 in bumper (3/1) at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) on NH debut 125 days ago. Remains with potential on his hurdles debut. Low-key rules debut when fourth of five in Stratford bumper in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) ![]() Elvis Du Berlais |
125/1(-89%) | (6) Elvis Du Berlais 125/1, Clovis Du Berlais gelding. Half-brother to modest 2m hurdle winner Flight To Nowhere. Dam winning pointer. The betting can prove a good indicator. Half-brother to connections' low-grade C&D winner Flight To Nowhere; best watched on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Ben Solo is a previous C&D scorer who was far from disgraced in second over 2m4f at Ffos Las in December and he sets the standard for others to aim at with a rating of 119. However, JUBY BALL makes slightly more appeal. Evan Williams' six-year-old accounted for a subsequent winner by four lengths on his hurdling debut at Ffos Las last month and could take a step forward to make it three wins out of four starts under Rules. Welcheston Warrier can fight it out for a place.
JUBY BALL created a fine impression when going in at the first time of asking over hurdles at Ffos Las and is fancied to make light of a 7 lb penalty. C&D winner Ben Solo appeals as the one to chase home Evan Williams' exciting prospect, with Luna de Castana and Ballymena Boy the pick of the remainder.
Impressive Ffos Las winner JUBY BALL can collect this prize before moving up in grade.

1st (12) ![]() Royal Rambler |
6/1(+50%) | (12) Royal Rambler 6/1, Has a reasonable jumping pedigree and showed promise when fair third on 20.5f Leicester hurdle debut in December. Took a backward step at Ffos Las since but it's still early days. Quiet latest effort but his debut run at Leicester was very likeable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) ![]() Shade Of Winter |
6/4(+40%) | (13) Shade Of Winter 6/4, All rules starts over 2m here, improving again when 2 lengths second in novice on Welsh Grand National day. Should stay this far and a bold show is on the cards. Bumped into a smart one here latest; strong form claims and he's bred for this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() As Legends Have It |
9/4(+50%) | (2) As Legends Have It 9/4, Fairly useful form in bumpers last season, scoring at Ffos Las on his second outing. Promise when placed over hurdles at Kempton (21f) and Doncaster (19.5f) this winter and likely to figure prominently again. Likeably consistent already but has to raise his game to beat the two form horses here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) ![]() Tokyo Tom |
17/2(+58%) | (14) Tokyo Tom 17/2, Runner-up sole start in Irish points in April. Only mid-division on his Ffos Las hurdle debut in November but likely capable of better before long. Didn't run badly for a 50-1 chance when midfield in a Ffos Las maiden three months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Dyno Dave |
15/2(+6%) | (4) Dyno Dave 15/2, Newcomer from a top yard who would enter the reckoning if the betting speaks in his favour. Second foal; dam runner-up in a point; leading yard so makes sense to check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Kalhandrion |
22/1(+12%) | (7) Kalhandrion 22/1, Third hurdle start when a promising fourth of 11 at Warwick (21f, soft) in December but pulled up in a maiden at Cheltenham since. A tongue tie is added now. The Warwick form gives him a chance. Fourth at Warwick confirms he has ability; can win races but perhaps not this one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() A Good Yomp |
250/1(-67%) | (1) A Good Yomp 250/1, Well held in bumpers and completed start over hurdles. 250-1 for two Newbury maidens, finishing tailed off and then falling early. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) ![]() Roe And Co |
18/1(-80%) | (11) Roe And Co 18/1, Fetched £58,000 after landing a maiden point in November 2023 but had wind surgery on the back of that and, despite being prominent in the betting, proved very disappointing on his Exeter hurdle debut last month. A tongue strap is quickly reached for. Irish point winner; only 2-1 but ran no race from an early stage on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Mad At Midnight |
250/1(-279%) | (8) Mad At Midnight 250/1, Scorpion gelding out of a 21f chase winner. Last of 6 finishers completed start in points (Dec 15). Best watched on hurdle debut. Two runs in 2m4f points at Larkhill, pulling up in the first and well held in the second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Pure Blue |
66/1(-32%) | (10) Pure Blue 66/1, Well held in a course bumper in November and can only watch now hurdling. Lost his position quite early and finished tailed off in a bumper here in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Junior Des Mottes |
250/1(-150%) | (6) Junior Des Mottes 250/1, Fair form in bumpers back in 2023 but no promise in 2 hurdles 5 months apart. Initial promise but it's been a quiet start under rules and he may need handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (15) ![]() Victor Haze |
300/1(-50%) | (15) Victor Haze 300/1, Well held in maiden/novice hurdles last spring. Has had wind surgery ahead of reappearance. Tailed off in his first two hurdles, since when he's undergone wind op; an 8yo already. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (9) ![]() Noble Recall |
400/1(-60%) | (9) Noble Recall 400/1, No promise in 2 bumpers and a maiden hurdle. Big outsider. No sign of ability in two bumpers and a 2m5f maiden hurdle at Warwick (300-1). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Girls Best Friend |
28/1(-12%) | (5) Girls Best Friend 28/1, Likely to have been placed but for unseating in sole Irish point but no short-term promise when remote fifth on 19.5f Lingfield hurdle debut in December. Running well when unseating in a point; should strip fitter for his Lingfield run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Captain Bellamy finished first past the post before being subsequently disqualified at Newbury in December and he is expected to mount a serious challenge to make amends. However, it may pay to side with SHADE OF WINTER, who improved on his debut third to take the silver medal home at Chepstow last time. The five-year-old might benefit from this step up in trip and could be the one to beat. As Legends Have It is another to note after his third at Doncaster.
The Evan Williams-trained SHADE OF WINTER might prove the answer to this maiden hurdle with the longer trip a help if anything. Captain Bellamy was first past the post at Newbury last time and heads the dangers along with Ben Pauling's As Legends Have It.
The standout contenders are SHADE OF WINTER and Captain Bellamy. The selection is ready for this step up in distance.

1st (8) ![]() Getaway Theatre |
11/1(-22%) | (8) Getaway Theatre 11/1, Point winner who was well suited by emphasis on stamina when making a successful hurdles debut over 2¾m at Stratford last term. Well held switched to fences all 3 starts this season, though, and hopes pinned on the return to hurdles and addition of a tongue strap working the oracle. Disappointing since winning on rules debut (2m6f, soft); more equipment and back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() The Lord Maid |
7/2(+30%) | (1) The Lord Maid 7/2, Won maiden/novice hurdles last spring. Solid return from 7 months off when second in 21f Warwick mares handicap in November but needs to shrug off a lesser run at Doncaster (19.5f) since. This longer trip could suit, though. Front-running 2nd on handicap debut (2m5f); last of seven at Doncaster (2m3f) 15 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Love Of Neymore |
10/3(+5%) | (5) Love Of Neymore 10/3, Progressive profile over hurdles, winning 2 handicaps at around 2½m, including here. Good fourth of 15 in a competitive race at Wincanton since and big player if her stamina holds back up in trip. Ran creditably last time; back up in trip (dam won at up to 2m7f) and not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Phillapa Sue |
9/1(-50%) | (4) Phillapa Sue 9/1, Returned to form when second of 10 in 3m Doncaster mares handicap hurdle in December and shaped as if still in good form up against geldings at Newbury since. Likely to go well back among her own sex. Inconsistent; well capable of getting seriously involved if this is one of her good days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Jalisco Star |
7/2(-56%) | (6) Jalisco Star 7/2, Won over 3m at Ascot and Ffos Las at the end of 2024 and improved again when a close second at Warwick (25, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Nudged up another 3 lb but still much respected in her current mood. Won over 3m at Ascot (good) and Ffos Las (heavy) before going close over 3m1f at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Felicie Du Maquis |
12/1(-9%) | (2) Felicie Du Maquis 12/1, Dual winning pointer. Started her hurdle with 2 novice wins and a fine second in a 19.5f course handicap but not seen since pulling up in a Ffos Las handicap chase 14 months ago. The betting should help guide to expectations after the layoff. Off 445 days; fitness is a big question but she'd be interesting if returning on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Glimpse Of Gala |
6/1(+63%) | (3) Glimpse Of Gala 6/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Lost was over fences after finishing second on Worcester reappearance and produced a laboured effort back hurdling at Warwick last month. Last won in January 2023; only bits of form since; big shout with even a partial revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Chloe's Court |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Chloe's Court 16/1, Veteran who was successful on her first and final starts last season. Below par in 2 comeback outings at Lingfield before Christmas but a revival can't be discounted with Robert Walford among the winners. Won last March; in marked contrast to last term, she's started this season out of form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Jalisco Star is in brilliant form at present with her latest second at Warwick another good effort and she looks ready for this step up in grade off a 3lb higher rating. However, a chance can be taken on THE LORD MAID, who ran too badly to be true when stone last in a deeper contest at Doncaster last month. Tom Lacey's seven-year-old could bounce back and make her third handicap start a successful one. Love Of Neymore completes the shortlist.
LOVE OF NEYMORE is going the right way and another win could be forthcoming if proving as effective over this longer trip. The thriving Jalisco Star rates an obvious danger, while Phillapa Sue is also more than capable in races like this.
The one who's going places this season is JALISCO STAR (nap). Next on the list are Felicie Du Maquis and Love Of Neymore.

1st (3) ![]() Donnacha |
2/1(+33%) | (3) Donnacha 2/1, Consistent over hurdles last season, winning 3 times, and getting the hang of things over fences now, off the mark in this sphere at Exeter on New Year's Day. Likeable sort who should go well again. Off the mark over fences at Exeter; up 4lb in a race that may take more winning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() The Famous Five |
9/2(-13%) | (4) The Famous Five 9/2, Dual winner over hurdles and confirmed promise of his chasing debut when winning 5-runner handicap at Newbury over Christmas. However, was never in the race having made a series of errors at Haydock 3 weeks ago so needs to bounce back. Newbury winner two runs back but ran no race last time; jumping remains an issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Astronomic View |
14/1(+30%) | (6) Astronomic View 14/1, Fairly useful staying hurdler but mark suffered on the back of wide-margin success at Warwick back in the spring. Operating below best over hurdles before crashing out at the first on chase bow at Exeter last month. Enough to prove. 1lb above last winning hurdle mark but he didn't get very far on recent chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Heros De Romay |
7/2(+42%) | (5) Heros De Romay 7/2, A fairly useful winner at 19f over hurdles who made an encouraging start in this sphere when fourth of 7 in handicap at Haydock on return. However, produced a laboured effort at Uttoxeter next time and headgear now applied. Still open to improvement in this discipline as he's lightly raced overall; tries a visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Hurricane Highway |
9/4(+0%) | (2) Hurricane Highway 9/4, Point winner/hurdles winner who was placed on his first 2 completed starts in this sphere. Made a decent return when second at Ffos Las last month but that form does look a bit flimsy. Winning hurdler; as good over fences despite being 0-5 and can improve for comeback run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Donnacha showed a likeable attitude when scoring over 2m3f at Exeter on New Years Day and, nudged up 4lb, he must be of renewed interest. That said, LARGY POET is preferred. Paul Nicholls' charge wasn't disgraced when fifth in a deeper race over an extended 3m at Wincanton most recently and, easing in trip with his sights lowered, he looks the one to side with off an unchanged mark. The Famous Five completes the shortlist.
DONNACHA had a subsequent winner back in third when off the mark in this sphere at Exeter last month and this likeable sort can defy a 4 lb rise. Largy Poet looks an interesting debutant over fences and may emerge as the biggest threat.
All six have chances. HURRICANE HIGHWAY ran well on his comeback and he's a winner waiting to happen off his current chase mark.

1st (7) ![]() The Midwife |
11/4(+39%) | (7) The Midwife 11/4, Opened hurdles account at Market Rasen a year ago and back to form this winter, good third on chase bow over C&D 12 days ago, albeit no match for the winner. Respected. Second on chase debut over C&D; aided by another low weight, should have a part to play. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Innisfree Lass |
17/2(+15%) | (5) Innisfree Lass 17/2, Improved upped in trip/with cheekpieces fitted when running out a wide-margin winner of 2 handicap hurdles at Southwell (24.3f, heavy) during second half of last term. Hasn't kicked on switched to fences this season, however, running poorly 3 weeks ago. Has run two good races over fences but Warwick last time wasn't one of them. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Itsnoteasy |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Itsnoteasy 12/1, £100,000 recruit from the Irish pointing field who got off the mark over hurdles in maiden at Uttoxeter last winter. Failed to kick on after, however, and made an unpromising start over fences at Uttoxeter on New Year's Day. Maiden hurdle winner but disappointing since, latterly on his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Phantom Getaway |
7/1(-110%) | (2) Phantom Getaway 7/1, Winning Irish pointer/hurdler. No show in 3 starts over fences last season. However, fared much better (had a breathing operation and tongue tied) when placed 2 of his 3 starts this term so warrants respect. Ran one of his better races from the front over this far at Newbury last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) ![]() Chatshow Tv |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Chatshow Tv 10/3, Belatedly built on his earlier promise in a first-time hood after 7 months off when second at Chepstow in October. Encouraging third switched to fences at Warwick 3 weeks ago and likely to build on that. Beaten about 10l on chase debut but ran well and the effort can be upgraded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() House Of Stories |
5/1(-25%) | (1) House Of Stories 5/1, Point winner who was off 2½ years prior to last season, building on his hurdling debut effort to win a maiden here a year ago. However, pulled up in an Exeter handicap (23.1f, heavy) the following month and off again since ahead of this chase bow. Long absences in his career and back from another; ability respected; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Ottoline |
13/2(+35%) | (6) Ottoline 13/2, A fair winning hurdler last season and showed a bit more than previously over fences stepping up in trip when third at Haydock 6 weeks ago. More needed again. Shaped better back over fences at Haydock but not many completed; others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THE MIDWIFE kept on well from the rear when finishing second over C&D last month and, nudged up 1lb, she looks capable of going one place better in this company. The largely consistent Chatshow Tv arrives on the back of a couple of solid placed efforts and he should go well once more, while Phantom Getaway arrives on the same mark as when third over 2m7f at Newbury last time.
CHATSHOW TV offered plenty to work on sent chasing after 12 weeks off when third at Warwick and makes the most appeal. Phantom Getaway is feared most ahead of The Midwife.
There's no hood this time but CHATSHOW TV might be growing up and there was a lot to like about his chase debut at Warwick.

1st (15) ![]() Richardson |
16/1(+60%) | (15) Richardson 16/1, It's now 16 runs since his last win in 2020. Off 9 months since a below-form fifth in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (20f) so others appeal more. Handles slow ground well but has modest strike-rate and has been off since last spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Bobalot |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Bobalot 22/1, Course winner but he came in last of 10 in handicap hurdle at Stratford (22f) in June on his final run for Ben Clarke. Needs to hit the ground running on his yard bow. Out of form when last seen last spring; now with new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Coconut Twist |
7/2(-17%) | (6) Coconut Twist 7/2, Landed a gamble back hurdling in 15-runner handicap at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) 27 days ago, finding extra. Merits consideration despite a 6 lb weights rise. Better known as a chaser now but battled well to win off his lower hurdle mark last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Decorated |
7/1(+65%) | (1) Decorated 7/1, Disappointed over hurdles last season and well held in a trio of runs sent chasing this term. Handily weighted though if this switch back to the smaller obstacles sparks a resurgence. Chasing has not gone to plan this season but he reverts to hurdling on a tempting mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Babatunde |
4/1(+43%) | (4) Babatunde 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden who advanced his form when third of 14 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (23.9f, good to soft) 22 days ago. One to consider back in trip. Travelled strongly for a long way when third on handicap debut; drops back from 3m today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Wonderweasle |
4/1(+0%) | (9) Wonderweasle 4/1, Reliable sort who comes here on the back of a solid third of 13 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (22.2f, heavy) 51 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Ought to be in the shake-up. Opened account at Ffos Las last March and has remained in good form since; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() L'empire Vert |
50/1(-25%) | (2) L'empire Vert 50/1, A fair maiden hurdler in France but pulled up on yard debut in handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, soft) 53 days ago. Something to prove quickly reverted to this sphere. Ex-French maiden who was pulled up in a handicap chase on British debut in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) ![]() Jukebox Joker |
3/1(+45%) | (13) Jukebox Joker 3/1, Lightly-raced hurdler took a step forward when fourth of 11 in handicap at Ffos Las (20f, heavy) 29 days ago. Interesting off an unchanged mark with that form working out well. 0-5 over hurdles but kept on well at Ffos Las last month and may still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) ![]() Largy Valley |
20/1(-25%) | (12) Largy Valley 20/1, Won Ayr bumper for Stuart Crawford in 2022. Little show since, though, over hurdles and on chasing bow at Catterick (had wind op) in December. Pulled up on chase/handicap debut and now back hurdling; remains very unexposed. |

|PU| (14) ![]() Hi Riko |
28/1(+58%) | (14) Hi Riko 28/1, Remains a maiden after 16 runs and he came in a well-beaten twelfth in handicap hurdle at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) 27 days ago. Others are preferred. Shaped well on stable debut in November but two lesser efforts have followed. |

|PU| (10) ![]() Nobody Told Me |
33/1(-106%) | (10) Nobody Told Me 33/1, Fair Flat winner for Jedd O'Keeffe who has displayed some promise over hurdles for his current yard, fourth in 2m2f Stratford handicap in May. Not ruled out on his return. Just a respectable fourth on handicap hurdle debut last May and has not raced again since. |

|PU| (3) ![]() Sonic Gold |
66/1(-164%) | (3) Sonic Gold 66/1, Runner-up sole start in points. Off 22 months but showed his first form over hurdles when fifth of 12 in novice (150/1) at Hereford (16.2f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Much respected now going into handicaps. Made some encouraging late headway in final qualifying race; makes handicap debut today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Exeter scorer Coconut Twist and the runner-up drew 11 lengths clear of the third last month and another bold showing is forecast from the seven-year-old. However, a 6lb rise does demand more from Daisy Hitchins' gelding and it could be worth chancing the unexposed BABATUNDE. The son of Kalanisi caught the eye with how he travelled on his third-placed handicap bow over 3m at Taunton 22 days ago and today's drop in distance could see him opening his account. Wonderweasle is also noted.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and this could go the way of Evan Williams' JUKEBOX JOKER who can race off the same mark as when a very good Ffos Las fourth (form been franked) last time out and remains with few miles on the clock. The consistent Wonderweasle seems sure to be on the premises and is next on the list, with Exeter-scorer Coconut Twist and the leniently-treated Decorated worthy of consideration too. Handicap debutant Sonic Gold completes the shortlist.
Today's drop back in trip can suit BABATUNDE, who travelled strongly for a long way before fading into third over 3m last month.

1st (10) ![]() Lightonthewing |
33/1(-50%) | (10) Lightonthewing 33/1, Won over fences at Newton Abbot in May but is struggling badly for form this winter and is easy to pass over back hurdling. Three chase wins (3m-3m2f) last spring; thrown in on that form but no sign of it lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() River Voyage |
7/2(+61%) | (9) River Voyage 7/2, Irish point winner but has yet to better modest form in hurdles/chases, looking hard work in first-time blinkers over fences at Ffos Las when last seen in November. Now reverts to hurdling with the headgear off. No less than 11l adrift in his seven races under rules; bits of form give him a squeak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Pipers Cross |
9/2(-100%) | (3) Pipers Cross 9/2, Dual winner around 3m in the spring for Robbie Llewellyn. Posted another creditable effort under this claimer when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Exeter (23.1f, heavy) 27 days ago and he merits consideration again. C&D winner; consistent sort who was third under Cameron Johnstone-Baker on last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() I'm A Starman |
9/1(-13%) | (1) I'm A Starman 9/1, Not quite as reliable as he once was now well into the veteran stage of his career and failed to build on his comeback run when sixth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (25f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Nevertheless, he's been given a chance by the handicapper and blinkers are back on. Won at Plumpton (3m1f, soft) last January and March; considered in this weak race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Pride Of Paris |
15/8(+46%) | (4) Pride Of Paris 15/8, Improved to make a winning handicap hurdle debut at Fontwell last January. Failed to complete on both outings later in the spring (including on chase debut) but makes eye-catching switch to new yard after 9 months off. 2m6f winner; could still have more to offer for new yard; one to check for market support. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Thirtyfour Thirty |
20/1(+20%) | (2) Thirtyfour Thirty 20/1, Bumper/hurdles winner who was runner-up twice off higher marks during the spring but recent efforts have given no cause for positivity and he'll need a signification rejuvenation on the back of a stable switch. Out of form for Anthony Charlton lately; headgear removed on this debut for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) ![]() Livy's Lad |
12/1(+14%) | (12) Livy's Lad 12/1, Fourth of 6 sole start in point bumpers and is yet to offer much in novice/maiden hurdles. Has a decent pedigree to call upon though, and could do better now handicapping. First whiff of ability last time and the market can guide on this handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Chauffeur Driven |
15/2(+53%) | (8) Chauffeur Driven 15/2, Passed some tired rivals late on the make the podium at Exeter on New Year's Day and ran to just a similar level when seventh of 15 there (21.6f, heavy) 27 days ago. Others preferred. 0-10 under rules; handicaps unconvincing; staying trip may be worth this fourth attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) ![]() William Philo |
20/1(+9%) | (13) William Philo 20/1, Posted his best effort for current yard when resuming from 11-month absence with excellent second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Exeter on New Year's Day. Possibly found race coming too soon when down the field there 12 days later and he's not fully discounted. Second on reappearance; heavy defeat 12 days later but this longer trip should help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) ![]() Sporty Jim |
16/1(-60%) | (5) Sporty Jim 16/1, Winless since 2022 but his third at Warwick in November was encouraging and he hasn't found things going his way either start, a bad mistake 4 out ending all chance back at that track last month. Place claims. Third at Warwick (3m1f) in November but took backward steps on both starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() To Be Sure |
28/1(+30%) | (6) To Be Sure 28/1, Back to form from out of the blue when taking advantage of a reduced mark in a Ffos Las handicap chase (3m, soft) in April 2023. Lightly raced and little to shout about since. After a year off, no sign of turning things around in his two starts this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) ![]() Bellamy's Grey |
33/1(0%) | (15) Bellamy's Grey 33/1, It's now over 3 years since this veteran's sole career success and he produced a moody display on return at Wincanton last week. Hard to fancy. This is second run since layoff and he stepped up dramatically on second run last winter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Winners from the Harry Derham yard have started to flow of late and stable debutant PRIDE OF PARIS could be rejuvenated by a change of scenery. The seven-year-old is only 3lb higher than his sole victory at Fontwell in January last year and he could be ready to put his subsequent woes behind him. The biggest threat may emerge from Pipers Cross, who arrives on the back of a solid third at Exeter, while River Voyage might prove more competitive on this switch to timber.
PRIDE OF PARIS ended his time with Victor Dartnall on a low-key note but remains unexposed in handicaps and a chance is taken he'll be back to his best having joined the Harry Derham yard. Pipers Cross arrives after a pair of sound efforts in defeat and should be involved again, whilst veteran I'm A Starman has slipped to a good mark and would have a chance if getting back to the level of his return.
Pride Of Paris is one to note, while William Philo and I'm A Starman are considered, but PIPERS CROSS looks the most solid.
Ths is the racecard key.
