6/1(-9%)
(3) Walkinthecotswolds 6/1, Showed ability in maiden/novice company prior to finishing second on Southwell handicap debut last March. Good reappearance fourth at Ffos Las was followed by a poor effort at the same course but there was a valid excuse (said to have had a breathing problem) and she has since undergone a wind op.
Fourth on her return at Ffos Las in November but pulled up there last month; wind op since.

Needs considering back up in trip here.

(6) Arctic Angel 16/1, Offered something to work on when third in Newton Abbot bumper last year but subsequent efforts over hurdles have not been at all encouraging. Big step forward needed now handicapping.

(7) Quite The Getaway 18/1, Made the frame twice from 4 starts in bumpers but offered little in a trio of outings in this sphere for Nigel Twiston-Davies last term. Didn't fare much better on first run since rejoining former yard at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve and it's easy enough to look elsewhere.
Well-beaten seventh on handicap debut back with former trainer at Uttoxeter last month..

Failed to build on that at the same course next time but it's far too soon to write this 5-y-o off.

13:12 Chepstow Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

NIGHT JET is probably the safest option after posting a couple of more assured efforts since he clipped heels and fell at Stratford three starts back, with last month's second-placed finish over 2m at Uttoxeter creating hope for another decent showing. Although well held by the winner that day, he did his best work at the finish and stepping back up in trip should be a good move. Arctic Angel and Home And Dry can give Tom Symonds' gelding the most to think about.

It's fair to say that NIGHT JET has already had plenty of chances but he is nevertheless appealing in a race of this nature. Indeed, he at least arrives here in good form whereas many of his rivals have questions to answer for one reason or another. Home And Dry could be a threat on his handicap debut in this sphere and is second choice ahead of Walkinthecotswolds, for whom there was a valid excuse at Ffos Las last time, and Taritino.

This looks to be a golden opportunity for NIGHT JET to get off the mark over hurdles. The main danger could be Walkinthecotswolds.

13:45 Chepstow Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

INTOSOMETHINGGOOD appeals after outrunning triple-figure odds to finish third in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham's New Year's Day fixture. With jumps winners in his pedigree and his yard in excellent form, the son of Dragon Dancer should be primed for another big run on his hurdles bow. Shareyourbiscuits is noteworthy on debut for a powerful yard, while Livingit Du Large failed to land a gamble when introduced at Warwick but should be wiser for the run and also commands respect.

LIVINGIT DU LARGE failed to justify strong support on his Warwick hurdling debut back in November but offered plenty to work on nonetheless and, with a good chunk of improvement anticipated, he's fancied to get off the mark at the second attempt. Intosomethinggood finished a good third under a change of tactics in a listed bumper at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and must enter calculations now switching to hurdling, with Shareyourbiscuits feared most of the newcomers before market clues.

Placed in a big-field Listed bumper four weeks ago, INTOSOMETHINGGOOD is taken to make a winning start to his hurdling career.

Disappointed back from a break on C&D handicap debut in November but quickly back on track when successful at Ffos Las (20f) 6 weeks ago. That ought not to prove his limit.

Appeals as a likely improver now handicapping but the betting can likely prove a useful guide.

14:15 Chepstow Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

A winner over a similar trip at Taunton on his penultimate start, KING OF THE ROAD filled the runner-up spot in a decent-looking contest at Kempton on Boxing Day and is an attractive option bidding to add to his tally off just 2lb higher. Rula Bula, who arguably eclipsed her hurdles debut win at Market Rasen when she was second in a Listed race for mares at Newbury most recently, is feared most. Lanesborough is on a workable rating and can go well if building on his near miss at Hereford.

LANESBOROUGH readily surpassed the form shown in maidens and almost overcame an unfavourable position when a strong finishing second on handicap debut at Hereford 2 weeks ago. He's one to be firmly interested in on the back of that effort with the step up in trip here also expected to suit. Rula Bula rates a big threat following her listed Newbury second, with last-time-out winner Castelfort and King of The Road others considered in a competitive heat.

This may go to LANESBOROUGH who so nearly went from last to first when strong in the market for his handicap debut.

14:45 Chepstow Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Not beaten far on his first run back from wind surgery when second at Aintree last month, BOOSTER BOB is likely to improve for that effort and he remains unexposed over the larger obstacles. A mark of 126 may still underestimate him and he is narrowly preferred to Cabhfuilfungi, who could not have won any easier at Southwell on New Year's Day. Runner-up over further at Doncaster last time out, Idy Wood may have the pace to handle the drop in distance on this occasion.

CABHFUILFUNGI has improved for the switch to fences this season and looks the way to go after his easy win at Southwell on New Year's Day. Booster Bob is another who has made a positive start in this sphere and is feared most.

The pick is CABHFUILFUNGI (nap), who recorded a good time when winning a three-runner race by a wide margin this month.

15:17 Chepstow Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THE SCORPION KING continues to go from strength to strength and a 9lb rise for his most recent success over further at Ffos Las may not be enough to prevent Oliver Signy's charge from landing the hat-trick. That may be at the main expense of recent Lingfield winner Twilight Glory, who won here twice last year, including this contest off 16lb lower. Jo Lescribaa and My Mate Polly have the form to get involved in proceedings as well.

JO LESCRIBAA is already proving to be a much better chaser than hurdler and the way he went through the race when scoring at Uttoxeter 4 weeks ago suggests there's more to come from him in this sphere. The Scorpion King is thriving at the moment and is an obvious threat, with last year's winner Twilight Glory another who arrives at the top of their game.

Preference for JO LESCRIBAA who has low mileage and should have more to offer. Twilight Glory looks to be the main danger.

15:52 Chepstow Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Picked up for 140,000 euros after landing a point-to-point at Ballysteen in April, and initially in the care of Laura Morgan before switching to Dan Skelton, QUEENS WISH made an impressive start to her career under Rules when bolting up at Newcastle recently. This isn't the deepest of contests in which to shoulder a penalty and she can repeat the dose with progress on the cards. Blazeon Five could build on her hurdling debut and is perhaps one of the main threats, while Paradise Park must also be considered.

BLAZEON FIVE, a progressive stayer on the Flat, understandably shaped as if better for the outing after more than a year off when fourth at Wincanton on last month's hurdling debut, and with much better to come as a hurdler with that run behind her, she's expected to lower the colours of likely favourite Queens Wish, who looked very professional when making a winning hurdling debut at Newcastle recently. Volakes could be the one to fill the places.

After cruising clear at Newcastle 12 days ago, QUEENS WISH can defy her penalty here before moving up in grade.

16:24 Chepstow NH Flat Race (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A chance can be taken on MOSSY FEN ROAD, who is related to a couple of useful types, perhaps most notably Fury Road. Both were successful in bumpers and it would come as no surprise were he up to the task, although recent form of the Harry Derham yard would have to be a cause for concern. Big Cadillac fetched 95,000 pounds at the sales last February and is yet another interesting contender for the Skeltons, while others to note include Harmony Heights and the penalised Gentleman Toboot.

GENTLEMAN TOBOOT's Rules debut is strong form and he readily opened his account at Fontwell last time, so he's fancied to defy a penalty for all that this looks like much sterner opposition. Big Cadillac and Mossy Fen Road, both fellow point winners, could pose a big threat to the selection.

An interesting bumper. GENTLEMAN TOBOOT carries a penalty but it was very easy for him last time at Fontwell. He looks useful.
