16:30 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ROYAL ALLIANCE was having his first start since June when scoring at Newcastle last month, having been gelded in the interim. The son of Persian King comfortably beat a horse rated 82 and may well defy a penalty on the strength of that form. Akrramm will likely have more to offer on his return from an absence, and the now-gelded Beccali might have a say in proceedings as well. Breakdancer, Dance In The Storm and Raafedd are all newcomers to note.

Plenty of depth to this so conceding a penalty won't be easy for ROYAL ALLIANCE, but he was quite impressive at Newcastle so he rates the percentage call. Akrramm ran in a hot race on debut so is sure to improve, while there are a plethora of interesting-looking newcomers, notably Elements of Fire and Breakdancer.

An interesting race but it might be worth sticking with ROYAL ALLIANCE, who justified support in good style at Newcastle last month.

17:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

NO SAINT finally took advantage of a tumble down the weights when scoring with any amount in hand at Southwell. The four-year-old has been raised 6lb for that success, but another strong bid looks assured. Wrath Of Hector has placed here since winning at Yarmouth in August and it would be no surprise if he featured in the finish once again. Sea The Buckthorn (fourth) wasn't far behind Wrath Of Hector last time and looks best of the rest.

NO SAINT won readily at Southwell last week and a 6 lb rise shouldn't stop him if in a similar mood. Wrath of Hector and Sea The Buckthorn might be the pair to give Sam England's charge most to think about.

With many of his rivals far from solid, NO SAINT is taken to follow up his Southwell win. Wrath Of Hector is second choice.

17:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

KENSTONE failed to fire at Wolverhampton after losing a cheekpiece early in the race. Adrian Wintle's veteran had gone close when runner-up at Chepstow before that, suggesting a return to winning ways was imminent, and he gets another chance. A winner at Kempton last month, Batal Dandy ran well again when third over track and trip a fortnight ago and is not out of it, while Just Ten High can be given a chance returning to this shorter distance.

JUST TEN HIGH bumped into a progressive one at Southwell last Saturday and can show he's still on a good mark. La Verite shaped better than the result at Kempton last time and is feared most with Billy Loughnane taking over the reins from a 7 lb apprentice. Poetic Jack is next on the list.

The return to this C&D and the refitting of cheekpieces add up well for JUST TEN HIGH and leave him with less to prove than most.

18:00 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CAMERA SHY created a good impression when scoring cosily at Newmarket on debut in May and, after not being seen to best effect when sent off a warm order for a Group 3 in Italy, this promising son of Kodiac can return to winning ways. The experienced Rock Hunter has shown enough ability to suggest that he can land a race of this nature and commands attention sporting blinkers for the first time. Desert Champion is also respected, especially if the market speaks favourably.

INITIAL BLUE should have learnt plenty from his encouraging Wolverhampton debut and gets the nod. Newmarket-winner Camera Shy remains with potential and may provide the chief threat, whilst Desert Champion and Spitzbergen are both of interest on their racecourse bows.

Camera Shy looks the pick of those with experience but SPITZBERGEN is a newcomer of note and can make a winning debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

APPLE'S ANGEL impressed when scoring comfortably over track and trip on her nursery debut last week and the suspicion is that a 7lb rise may not be enough to anchor her. Eighteencaratgold offered encouragement when fourth on his handicap bow at Kempton in August and he can emerge as the main danger to the selection now he has been gelded and is sporting cheekpieces for the first time. Recent C&D runner-up Oasis Sunrise completes the shortlist.

Preference is for DUBAI MAGIC, who went close on her nursery debut at Wolverhampton and she wasn't seen to best effect here next time. Apple's Angel duly left the form of her qualifying runs well behind when scoring on her first run in a nursery over C&D nine days ago and she is second choice ahead of Piranha Rama and Oasis Sunrise.

The shortlist comprises the runners who have respectable C&D form, namely APPLE'S ANGEL, Specified and Oasis Sunrise.

19:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

STARTLING impressed with a last-to-first victory over C&D last month and this looks a good opportunity for her to follow up, despite racing off a 4lb higher mark. Natsumi hasn't cut much ice in her three qualifying runs, but she warrants respect on her nursery debut for astute connections. Master Zack wasn't seen to best effect over 6f here recently, but he suffered interference and could bounce back.

STARTLING did well to overcome a pace bias over C&D last month and is a straightforward choice to follow up in a race lacking depth. Bank On Kent is fully exposed but seems the most likely to follow the selection home.

Bank On Kent should go well back at 5f but this looks a big drop in class for NATSUMI and she make a winning nursery debut.

19:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BLIND BEGGAR finished four lengths clear of Moulin Booj (third) when only denied by a short head in a stronger event at Nottingham. Mick Appleby's six-year-old took this race last year and is only 1lb higher, so it would be no surprise to see him repeat the feat. Crimson Sand made the frame over 6f here last month, just five days on from a success over the same C&D, and could get into contention again. Bang On The Bell can pick up any pieces.

BANG ON THE BELL has been in good form on turf lately and returns to AW on a feasible mark, so he's preferred to Blind Beggar, who arrives on the back of a solid showing at Nottingham. Regal Envoy is another one to consider.

This is a drop in class for HAYMAKER and he can prove too strong for Moulin Booj and Blind Beggar.

20:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 13f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Hunters Run is in fine form and was a close-up second when on a hat-trick at Southwell. However, the slight rise in distance might stretch out his stamina and, with that in mind, the vote goes to DASHING PANTHER. William Stone's five-year-old could only finish in midfield at Newbury, when the heavy conditions may have gone against him. Based on his runner-up effort at Pontefract prior to that display, he could be the one to beat. Al Haal is another to note.

GENESIUS couldn't be blamed for unseating at Newbury last time and, back on AW with blinkers applied, he makes plenty of appeal. The in-form Hunters Run is an obvious danger and Sax Appeal can't be ruled out down in grade.

This can go to the progressive 3yo HUNTERS RUN (nap), who went close in his hat-trick bid at Southwell last time.

20:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 2) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Andaleep backed up his fifth in the Cambridgeshire with a highly respectable second at Kempton on Monday and should remain competitive off an unchanged mark. However, he could come out second best to PENZANCE, who is a dual C&D winner and finished third in a Listed contest on the same Kempton card earlier in the week. The four-year-old returns to the handicap ranks and will prove hard to beat. Intricacy is another to take seriously, despite being absent since his victory at Meydan in February.

Dual C&D winner PENZANCE lines up 3 lb lower than when second at Newcastle in the spring and, with an encouraging third in listed company behind him at Kempton on Monday, he's very much of interest returned to this shorter trip. Intricacy has been absent since winning at Meydan earlier this year but is worth a second look for the Crisfords. Low-mileage 3-y-os Westridge and Salamanca are others to note in a good quality affair.

While PENZANCE failed make an impact in some good-quality turf races in the summer, it's resulted in him dropping to a good AW mark.
