1st (4) (0.29/1 +34%) Whip Cracker |
0.29/1(+34%) | (4) Whip Cracker 0.29/1, Promising individual. Second of 6 in maiden (4/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) on debut 20 days ago. Should go one better here, unless one of the newcomers turn out to be above-average. Good second at Newmarket on last month's debut and open to improvement; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (25/1 -108%) Wonder Smile |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Wonder Smile 25/1, Once-raced maiden. 18/1 and tongue strap on, seventh of 13 in minor event at Redcar (7f, good) on debut 12 days ago. Probably more one for the longer term. Finished in midfield on recent Redcar debut (7f, good; not ideally drawn); can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (28/1 +15%) Deep Havana |
28/1(+15%) | (1) Deep Havana 28/1, 24,000 gns foal, €42,000 yearling. Half-brother to winner up to 7f Silca Mistress (2-y-o 6f winner) and 1m-1¾m winner Suns Up Guns Up. Worth a second look in the betting. Half-brother to two winners out of a fair 6f-1m winner; should have a future. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (12/1 -50%) Silvaplana |
12/1(-50%) | (8) Silvaplana 12/1, Foaled February 4. No Nay Never filly. Represents top 2-y-o yard and she's one to monitor closely in the betting. Well-bred newcomer who needs a market check on debut; yard could be in better form though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (15/2 -25%) Wide Margin |
15/2(-25%) | (5) Wide Margin 15/2, Foaled March 15. 75,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot colt. Dam winner up to 8.3f (2-y-o 7f winner). Yard's newcomers usually know their job and it will look significant if the market speaks in his favour. 75,000gns yearling; dam a useful 7f/1m winner; appealing pedigree and betting to guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/1 +9%) High Dreams |
10/1(+9%) | (2) High Dreams 10/1, Once-raced maiden. 12/1, seventh of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) on debut 24 days ago, hampered. Will need to leave that form well behind if he's to make an impact here. Met some trouble on the home turn on debut (6f) last month; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (200/1 -300%) Potters Diamond |
200/1(-300%) | (7) Potters Diamond 200/1, Foaled April 16. Time Test filly. Dam placed over hurdles (stayed 21f). Doesn't appeal as a probable first-time-out winner. First foal of a mare who was placed in bumpers and over hurdles; unlikely winner on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WHIP CRACKER sets a decent standard based on his debut performance when runner-up at Newmarket and that experience ought to stand him in good stead in his attempt to go one better. Silvaplana comes from an excellent family, with her dam a full-sister to Galiway, who has had a solid beginning to life as a stallion, and she warrants a considerable amount of respect on her first start, with 75,000gns purchase Wide Margin and Deep Havana also noted.
Having shaped with plenty of promise on debut at Newmarket, WHIP CRACKER looks the way to go. The market should be revealing where newcomers Wide Margin and Silvaplana are concerned, with the fomer marginally preferred for forecast purposes.
Wide Margin and Silvaplana need a market check but WHIP CRACKER is fancied to confirm the promise of his Newmarket debut.

1st (3) (15/2 -7%) Navy Drums |
15/2(-7%) | (3) Navy Drums 15/2, 5/1, last of 7 in handicap at this course (5f) 28 days ago. Stepping back up in trip looks a good move and he's on a competitive mark. Last three runs since were disappointing, all at 7-1 or shorter; perhaps excused latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 -35%) Last Date |
9/2(-35%) | (5) Last Date 9/2, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. Good third of 12 in handicap (7/2) at this course (6f) 19 days ago. Should make his presence felt. Very solid record at this track but last of his three wins (30 races) was in April 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (16/1 -14%) Blue Curacao |
16/1(-14%) | (10) Blue Curacao 16/1, Last of 6 in handicap at Brighton (6f, good, 12/1) 45 days ago. Still, she continues to edge down the weights and will be a threat if bouncing back. Three below-form efforts in a row and she's switched to AW for first time since January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (15/2 +63%) My Sand Boy |
15/2(+63%) | (9) My Sand Boy 15/2, 80/1, good seventh of 13 in handicap at this C&D 28 days ago. Readily passed over. Closer lately; met trouble in running last time; considered in this unconvincing field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (22/1 -57%) Higher Law |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Higher Law 22/1, Ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 28/1) 23 days ago. Yet to reproduce the level of form he showed in a couple or runs for Godolphin at 2 yrs, but dangerous to discount off this reduced mark. Possible excuses for last three starts; others look more solid, all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (14/1 -27%) Star Map |
14/1(-27%) | (1) Star Map 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eleventh of 12 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good, 25/1) 52 days ago. Improvemend needed now switched to polytrack in a first-time visor. Doncaster 2nd (6f, soft) in May stands out a mile from her other four runs; headgear now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (12/1 +52%) Grey Daze |
12/1(+52%) | (6) Grey Daze 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Blinkered for 1st time, first run since leaving Adrian Murray when last of 10 in handicap (18/1) at Nottingham (5f, heavy) 15 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Relatively early days and no headgear today but others have much more solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (2/1 +33%) Bluebells Boy |
2/1(+33%) | (4) Bluebells Boy 2/1, Course winner. Creditable second of 9 in handicap (15/8) at this course (6f) 7 days ago. Expected to be bang there off the same mark. Found a bit of consistency over 6f/7f in recent starts, albeit for minor honours at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (20/1 -25%) Dresden Green |
20/1(-25%) | (11) Dresden Green 20/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. Creditable fifth of 10 in handicap (28/1) at this course (6f) 14 days ago, slowly away. Hopes pinned on the first-time cheekpieces sparking improvement. 17-race maiden; blinkered last four starts and now sports cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (6/1 +50%) Golden Moon |
6/1(+50%) | (7) Golden Moon 6/1, 7/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at this course (6f) 19 days ago. Wasn't beaten far when fourth over C&D off 3 lb higher on penultimate start, so there's some cause for optimism. 0-9; easily his closest finish coming when fourth of 13 over C&D on penultimate start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Bluebells Boy has to be high on the shortlist following his second here over a furlong shorter last week. That said, the four-year-old has been running well enough in recent months without getting his head in front and a chance is taken on LAST DATE instead. He produced his best effort for a while when third at this course last month and the six-year-old gets the vote to gain a fourth career victory. Nemorum also boasts claims.
With his yard among the winners of late, HIGHER LAW should be worth chancing in an open-looking race. He wasn't beaten far when fifth on debut for Kevin Frost at Doncaster in June and, though well below that level since, the handicapper has given him a chance. Bluebells Boy is an obvious threat on the back of a solid effort here last week, while Golden Moon and Last Date are others to consider.
In an unconvincing field, a chance is taken on MY SAND BOY building on the bit of encouragement he's given lately.

1st (1) (11/4 -38%) Gulmarg |
11/4(-38%) | (1) Gulmarg 11/4, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Respectable fourth of 10 in handicap (11/2) at Kempton (8f) 15 days ago, hampered. Expected to be bang there. In the frame in ten of his 12 starts since his latest success should run his race again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/4 +30%) Riot |
7/4(+30%) | (3) Riot 7/4, C&D winner. Creditable third of 11 in handicap at this C&D (14/1) 5 days ago. Cheekpieces/tongue strap back on and he's a major player. C&D winner; 1lb lower than when last successful; third back here on Saturday; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (15/2 -15%) Maid In Kentucky |
15/2(-15%) | (4) Maid In Kentucky 15/2, Tongue strap on for 1st time, seventh of 10 in handicap at Kempton (8f, 16/1) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Looks vulnerable for win purposes. Dual AW winner but not at her best lately; drops to 7f for the first time; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 +0%) Temple Bruer |
12/1(+0%) | (2) Temple Bruer 12/1, 16/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good) 26 days ago, slowly away. Others make greater appeal. 2lb below last winning mark, but something to prove in a rare run over 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/1 +7%) Media Guest |
7/1(+7%) | (7) Media Guest 7/1, One win from 26 Flat runs. Twenty runs since last win in 2021. 13/2, below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good) 9 days ago, slowly away. Capable of a bold show. 1-26 but first past the post before demoted over C&D in July; could go well back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/1 +8%) Yantarni |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Yantarni 11/1, Ninth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 28/1) 36 days ago. Needs to bounce back in a major way now switched to polytrack. Patchy form for this yard and needs to better last two efforts now making Polytrack debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 -57%) Get Stuck In |
11/1(-57%) | (6) Get Stuck In 11/1, Course winner. Ninth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 14/1) 8 days ago. Now 1 lb lower than for his all-the-way success over a mile here in March and he will be a threat if on-song. Won over 1m here in March, but well held in four starts since; could bounce back; visor on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MAID IN KENTUCKY wasn't disgraced on her first run since June when beaten six lengths into seventh at Kempton earlier in the month. The application of cheekpieces for the first time, along with a 2lb drop from the handicapper, may provide her with the chance to get back to winning ways. Gulmarg has been knocking on the door recently and is likely to go well, along with Riot, who caught the eye here on Saturday.
GULMARG has been knocking on the door in stronger handicaps than this pretty much all year and is presented with a golden opportunity to get back on the scoresheet. Riot is now 1 lb lower than for his latest success at Doncaster during the summer and he rates the main danger. Perhaps the first-time visor will help Get Stuck In to rediscover some form and, if so, he will also be a threat.
This looks a good opportunity for RIOT (nap) to record another C&D success having run so well to finish third back here on Saturday.

2nd (1) (6/1 -71%) Mitigator |
6/1(-71%) | (1) Mitigator 6/1, First run since leaving Patrick Leech when ninth of 12 in handicap (4/1) at Kempton (11f) 31 days ago. Down in trip and leading claims if he puts his best foot forward. Back from a long absence with a heavy defeat at Kempton last month; risks attached. |

15/2(-15%) | (7) Doves Of Peace 15/2, 11/1, respectable sixth of 10 in handicap at this course (7f) 14 days ago, slowly away. Remains a maiden following 8 attempts but he has to enter calculations nonetheless. 0-8 but he's been placed in three handicaps including over C&D; dangerous back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (33/1 +0%) Victory House |
33/1(+0%) | (9) Victory House 33/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. 16/1, respectable eighth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 8 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Looks vulnerable. 17-race maiden and he's finished down the field in three runs for his current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -71%) Adace |
12/1(-71%) | (4) Adace 12/1, Course winner. 11/2, creditable short-head second of 10 to Shabs in minor event at this C&D 56 days ago, clear of rest. Likely to be in the thick of things once again. Won at Windsor in August before a near-miss over C&D last time; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (66/1 -136%) Sea The Buckthorn |
66/1(-136%) | (6) Sea The Buckthorn 66/1, Unreliable type. 20/1, last of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 24 days ago. Probably best to look elsewhere. Seven-race maiden who has form figures of 0580 in handicaps and was tailed off last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (17/2 +15%) Shabs |
17/2(+15%) | (8) Shabs 17/2, One win from 26 Flat runs, which was gained over this C&D Seventh of 9 in handicap (11/4) back here 35 days ago. Will have a fighting chance if back to something like his best. Finally off the mark over C&D in August but he was disappointing here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (25/1 -317%) So Chic |
25/1(-317%) | (5) So Chic 25/1, Creditable eighth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 50/1) 22 days ago, but she looks vulnerable here all the same. Just one win from 17 starts and has been quiet in two runs for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (66/1 -136%) Channel Packet |
66/1(-136%) | (11) Channel Packet 66/1, Three-time C&D winner. 18/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, firm). Off 134 days and one or two of these make more appeal. Out of sorts in last four runs and he needs a major revival on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (16/1 -60%) Cap D'antibes |
16/1(-60%) | (3) Cap D'antibes 16/1, C&D winner. Respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Brighton (8f, good to firm, 11/4). when last seen in May. One to consider. Dual C&D winner and he needs watching in market back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (25/1 -56%) Darker |
25/1(-56%) | (12) Darker 25/1, Good fifth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 9/1) 17 days ago, very slowly away. Will need to raise his game in order to play a leading role. 0-15 but he's run some good races this autumn and is not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MYSTERIOUS MAESTRO posted his best effort of the season when filling the frame in third at Wolverhampton last time out, and a similar level of performance may be enough for the three-year-old to get his head in front here. Adace is now 6lb higher than her Windsor triumph in August, but rates as a more solid proposition than most, while Cap D'Antibes warrants respect as a dual C&D winner.
MITIGATOR may be worth siding with back dow in trip here on the back of a solid effort st Kempton. He gets the nod ahead of Cap d'Antibes, while Mysterious Maestro is also high on the shortlist.
Preference is for ADACE, who went very close in her bid for a double over C&D last time and remains well treated on her best form.

2/1(+27%) | (2) Batal Dubai 2/1, Latest win at Newcastle in July. 4/1, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 12 days ago. Eased 2 lb since and he's one of the more appealing candidates. Dual Newcastle winner, but a good third over C&D last month and now 3lb lower. |

2nd (6) (5/1 +9%) Almaty Star |
5/1(+9%) | (6) Almaty Star 5/1, Winner at Lingfield in September. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Leicester (5f, good, 11/2) 9 days ago. Likely to be in the mix. Second and first in two starts on Polytrack; possibilities now back on the AW. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/2 -10%) Musical Tribute |
11/2(-10%) | (5) Musical Tribute 11/2, C&D winner in September. 6/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) 30 days ago. In good form prior to that and she's not without hope. Won easily over C&D last month, but well held off this mark last time; something to find. |

Needs a couple of these to falter. 5f winner here; this is easier back on the AW, but others are still more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (10/1 -11%) Fast And Loose |
10/1(-11%) | (4) Fast And Loose 10/1, 18/1, below form fifteenth of 25 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good) 26 days ago. Makes polytrack debut and will be a serious player if on-song. 1-16; well held the last twice which raises doubts despite the drop in grade. |

10th (3) (22/1 -83%) Via Corone |
22/1(-83%) | (3) Via Corone 22/1, Thrice-raced winner. Fifth of 6 in handicap (3/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm). Off 118 days ahead of this debut for new connections and will probably come on for the run. Polytrack winner who makes her stable debut after four months off; watch market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ALMATY STAR finished a respectable fourth when appearing outpaced over 5f at Leicester recently and Roger Varian's gelding is fancied to regain the winning thread on the return to 6f. C&D winner Musical Tribute posted a below-par effort at Yarmouth last month, but she shouldn't be underestimated now reverting to the all-weather. The daughter of Acclamation is feared most ahead of Cuban Breeze and Batal Dubai.
Cases can be made for several of these and BATAL DUBAI is the suggestion. Successful af Newcastle in July, he has performed with cedit here and at Wolverhampton the last twice, leaving the impression that his turn is again near. Onemorenomore followed his Doncaster breakthrough success with an equally good effort when going close at Pontefract recently, and he is next on the list ahead of Cuban Breeze.
The vote goes to CUBAN BREEZE who very nearly got up to beat a bang-in-form rival over C&D a week ago and races off the same mark.

22/1(-120%) | (4) Ray's The One 22/1, Off 7 weeks from hurdling, had run of the race when winning 8-runner handicap (9/1) at this C&D in June. May just find it tougher to repeat the same tactics as he returns from a break. Returned to the Flat with C&D win in June, making all and holding on by a head; off since. |

80/1(+0%) | (13) Opportunity Knocks 80/1, Form has gone the wrong way this year, eleventh of 12 in handicap (125/1) at this course (10f) 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time tried over this longer distance. 12-race maiden; recent results are discouraging; new trip and different headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The three last-time-out winners may dominate proceedings, with TRADESMAN shading the vote. The gelded son of Mastercraftsman has won on his last two appearances at this venue and triumphed with enough in hand here a fortnight ago to suggest that he can defy a 4lb rise in the ratings. Grand Duchess Olga recorded a C&D victory last month and she is likely to be in the mix off only 1lb higher, with the returning Ray's The One next best.
TRADESMAN made it two wins at this course from his last 3 starts when scoring cosily here a fortnight ago and he is taken to add to his tally. The 4-y-o can see off the challenge of Grand Duchess Olga, who opened her account at this C&D on her latest outing, while Louaizeh could still have more to offer and also merits consideration.

11th (10) (28/1 -27%) Storm Melody |
28/1(-27%) | (10) Storm Melody 28/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 7 in handicap (7/1) at this C&D 7 days ago. Others more persuasive. Veteran who hasn't been at his very best of late; others stronger for win purposes. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
UNIVERSAL GRACE scored cheekily over C&D last month and, considering she was rated as high as 62 last autumn, a 3lb higher mark might be nowhere near enough to prevent her following up. David Probert retaining the ride is another positive and the filly is taken to reverse recent Wolverhampton form with Suanni. Rewilding and Tilsworth Ony Ta are others to consider.
KATAR seemed to benefit from a return to AW when runner-up at this course a fortnight ago and he's worth a chance to finally break his maiden tag from a handy mark. Recent C&D winner Universal Grace looks a major threat and Tilsworth Ony Ta isn't without hope.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The booking of Oisin Murphy for Marmara Star catches the eye and, with her match-fitness topped up after a respectable fourth-placed finish at Wolverhampton 10 days ago, a big run is expected. Meadram also rates as a player off an attractive mark. However, it is hard to get away from the hat-trick seeking LUNAR SPACE, who is back up in trip and 2lb well-in under a penalty for Saturday's 1m success here.
LUNAR SPACE is turned out again quickly in pursuit of the hat-trick and the Osborne's thriving gelding is tricky to oppose under a penalty. Swing To The Stars arrives in decent heart and should have gone closer over C&D last week, so appeals as the biggest threat, with Meadram and Marmara Star completing the shortlist.
Ths is the racecard key.
