1st (2) (1/17 +40%) Jungle Mac |
1/17(+40%) | (2) Jungle Mac 1/17, Bungle Inthejungle gelding who has shown some fair form, coming in a good second of 6 in minor event at Goodwood (6f, soft) 132 days ago. Outstanding form claims. Now gelded and this looks a gilt-edged opportunity on the form he showed last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (66/1 +0%) Takeityouremine |
66/1(+0%) | (4) Takeityouremine 66/1, Twice-raced filly and always behind in novice here and maiden at this C&D. In good hands but needs to take a major step forward. Both runs have been here (5f/6f), finishing about 15l off the principals at lengthy odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 -36%) Liege |
15/2(-36%) | (3) Liege 15/2, Twice-raced gelding who failed to build on his debut fifth when only seventh of 8 in maiden at Newcastle (6f) 38 days ago on his final run for David Loughnane. Hood on for new yard with more required. First run was better than the second and has since been sold for 1,500gns; now hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 +15%) Red Hot Rose |
28/1(+15%) | (1) Red Hot Rose 28/1, 40/1, seventh of 9 in minor event at Lingfield (6f, AW) on debut 13 days ago. Lots more is needed. This 4yo filly has to concede weight to a rival with much superior form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Given he has placed twice over this trip, holds experience on Polytrack and is the only runner with an official rating, JUNGLE MAC ticks all the right boxes and has a golden opportunity to break his maiden. Liege, a potential improver with a first-time hood tried on his debut for the Simon Hodgson yard, is feared more than Red Hot Rose and Takeityouremine, who both need a significant step forward to trouble the selection.
JUNGLE MAC possesses by far the best form on offer so Jack Channon's son of Bungle Inthejungle is taken to gain a deserved breakthrough success after three good placed efforts. Liege could emerge as the one to chase him home ahead of Red Hot Rose.
Jack Channon's JUNGLE MAC has been gelded since his last start in October but he's a standout on form, and by a wide margin.

1st (5) (5/1 +58%) Runaround Sioux |
5/1(+58%) | (5) Runaround Sioux 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, sixth of 8 in minor event at this C&D 23 days ago. Makes handicap debut and needs to raise her game. Not obviously well in for h'cap debut unless there's something lurking under the bonnet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -50%) Sixties Chic |
3/1(-50%) | (1) Sixties Chic 3/1, 10/3, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 8 days ago by 2 lengths from Back Tomorrow. More on her plate up 6 lb. Up 6lb for beating Back Tomorrow but the RPR she posted last week bodes well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 +15%) Starsong |
11/2(+15%) | (4) Starsong 11/2, C&D winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 15/2) 12 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Cheekpieces back on and she certainly wouldn't be without a chance if on-song. All wins at 6f; a slow start was no help when back over 5f the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/2 -57%) Gogo Yubari |
11/2(-57%) | (8) Gogo Yubari 11/2, Winner at Lingfield in January. Creditable second of 5 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW, 11/10) 5 days ago. Looks competitive on form. In form but going up a furlong asks a question and so too should this higher grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (17/2 +15%) It's Showtime |
17/2(+15%) | (6) It's Showtime 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifth of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 19 days ago, better placed than most. Blinkers on 1st time. Only weakened out of the picture late on in her second handicap; now blinkered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (66/1 -100%) Nasneen |
66/1(-100%) | (7) Nasneen 66/1, 40/1, last of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 43 days ago. Significantly back down in trip starting out for new yard here and probably best watched. 0-6 for two yards and hasn't progressed; did at least run her best race when sprinting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (5/2 +9%) Back Tomorrow |
5/2(+9%) | (2) Back Tomorrow 5/2, Latest win at Southwell in January. 10/3, respectable 2 lengths second of 10 to Sixties Chic in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 8 days ago, running on. 6 lb better off with that rival here and bold show likely. Sixties Chic got first run last week and she's armed with a 6lb pull with that rival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (50/1 -213%) Profit Given |
50/1(-213%) | (3) Profit Given 50/1, 28/1, respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f), left poorly placed. Off 149 days and back down in trip on this debut for new yard. Some respectable runs but 0-9 for previous yard and changed hands for only 1,000gns. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BACK TOMORROW (second) gave away more ground than she was beaten by when finishing two lengths behind Sixties Chic (winner) at Wolverhampton eight days ago and, assuming she breaks a little better, a 6lb pull gives her a live chance of turning the form around. Gogo Yubari impressed when winning over 5f at Lingfield on her penultimate start and can also figure if returning to 6f doesn't stretch her stamina.
BACK TOMORROW has a good chance of reversing recent Wolverhampton placings with Sixties Chic, given that she meets that rival on 6 lb better terms for a two-length beating. Richard Spencer's charge is taken to come out on top this time and while Sixties Chic is by no means discounted, a bigger threat here could be posed by Gogo Yubari.
The key race could be last week's Wolverhampton handicap in which SIXTIES CHIC had a nice bit in hand over Back Tomorrow.

1st (1) (10/11 +48%) Billyjoh |
10/11(+48%) | (1) Billyjoh 10/11, Career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 11/10) 9 days ago, staying on well. Has to be taken seriously. Second 6f Southwell win of winter when nicely on top nine days ago; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (14/1 -40%) Tyger Bay |
14/1(-40%) | (6) Tyger Bay 14/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in December. Last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 17/2) 41 days ago, very slowly away. Won at Wolverhampton in December but comfortably held twice since; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (9/1 +10%) Daytona Lady |
9/1(+10%) | (9) Daytona Lady 9/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. Bit below form fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 13/2) 19 days ago. Won over C&D and Wolverhampton around turn of year but only fourth last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (22/1 -175%) Parisiac |
22/1(-175%) | (5) Parisiac 22/1, Won 13-runner handicap (18/1) at Newmarket (5f, soft), well positioned. Off 113 days. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Ended 2023 with 5f turf win but draw could be awkward on return with new headgear fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/2 -38%) Clipsham La Habana |
11/2(-38%) | (3) Clipsham La Habana 11/2, Respectable third of 8 in handicap (11/8) at Southwell (6.1f) 32 days ago. Player. Consistent in defeat since last win in late 2022 but might find odd one too strong again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (22/1 -144%) Level Up |
22/1(-144%) | (8) Level Up 22/1, Five wins from 21 runs last year. Latest win at Lingfield in January. 15/2, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 16 days ago. Can make presence felt. Arrives in form but his best has been saved for 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/2 +13%) King Cabo |
7/2(+13%) | (2) King Cabo 7/2, Latest win at Kempton in September. Creditable third of 7 in handicap (11/4) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 20 days ago. Respected. Shaped well dropped to 6f on recent reappearance; entitled to come on for outing; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (50/1 -150%) She's Centimental |
50/1(-150%) | (7) She's Centimental 50/1, Latest win at Kempton in January. 16/1, 8 lengths ninth of 10 to Billyjoh in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 9 days ago. Last month's narrow Kempton success is surrounded by lesser efforts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Billyjoh ought to be popular after a string of solid efforts but needs another personal best after a 5lb rise for last week's Southwell success puts him on a career-highest mark. With that in mind, CLIPSHAM LA HABANA looks worth chancing off 4lb lower than his peak rating in handicaps so far, with the in-form Billy Loughnane an eye-catching jockey booking. King Cabo is fancied to go well too.
BILLYJOH quickly resumed progress/winning ways at Southwell 9 days ago and looks capable of defying a 5 lb rise. King Cabo is next best, ahead of Clipsham La Habana.
Mick Appleby's BILLYJOH (nap) is building up a good record on AW and can make light of a 5lb rise for last week's Southwell success.

1st (5) (2/1 -23%) Night Of Desire |
2/1(-23%) | (5) Night Of Desire 2/1, Night of Thunder filly who made a promising start when fourth of 9 in maiden at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 20/1) 18 days ago. More to offer so she's the one to beat. Promise when 4th on recent 8.6f debut; faded late on so the drop to 7f looks a good move. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (150/1 -127%) Venus Slipper |
150/1(-127%) | (7) Venus Slipper 150/1, Twice-raced filly. 250/1, first run since leaving Simon & Ed Crisford when sixth of 7 in maiden at Kempton (8f) 10 days ago. Plenty more is needed. Looks more one for handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/1 -157%) Covehithe |
9/1(-157%) | (2) Covehithe 9/1, €45,000 yearling, Magna Grecia filly. Half-sister to several winners, including winner up to 9f Almania and 2-y-o 7f winner Benacre. Considered newcomer, especially if the market vibes are positive. Well-bred newcomer from a leading stable; much respected if the betting vibes are strong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/4 +54%) Dame Darcey |
11/4(+54%) | (3) Dame Darcey 11/4, Twice-raced filly but she failed to build on her debut fourth when sixth of 12 in minor event at Southwell (6.1f) 44 days ago. Has shown ability in two runs over 6f but will need to raise her game now going over 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/4 +14%) Little Rose |
6/4(+14%) | (4) Little Rose 6/4, Dubawi filly who came in only seventh of 10 in minor event at Newmarket (7f, heavy, 4/1) on her debut 112 days ago. Should progress so she's worth a second look. Well-held seventh on turf debut but may prove different proposition for top yard this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (50/1 -52%) Analytical Engine |
50/1(-52%) | (1) Analytical Engine 50/1, Mukhadram filly. Dam 5f-6f winner. Market can guide. Out of a quite useful 5f-6f winner but probably best watched this time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of NIGHT OF DESIRE, who showed plenty of promise on her debut at Wolverhampton as she went well for a long way over further before weakening late on. The drop in trip should suit and she gets the vote ahead of the well-bred Little Rose and newcomer Covehithe, who is a half-sister to Benacre, a talented two-year-old for the stable.
NIGHT OF DESIRE shaped well when a debut fourth at Wolverhampton and looks the way to go with improvement very much on the cards from Marco Botti's daughter of Night of Thunder. Charlie Johnston's Magna Grecia debutante Covehithe appeals on paper and could prove the main danger, although both Little Rose and Dame Darcey offer some potential too.
The percentage call is NIGHT OF DESIRE on the back of her promising opening run at Wolverhampton.

1st (1) (2/1 +27%) Love De Vega |
2/1(+27%) | (1) Love De Vega 2/1, C&D winner in January. 8/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 16 days ago. Big player off the same mark back here. Recorded fifth win when making all over C&D in January; good third since; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (13/2 -30%) Chola Empire |
13/2(-30%) | (8) Chola Empire 13/2, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 5/1, good second of 6 in handicap at this C&D 23 days ago, outbattled. Up 3 lb for that and this is a stronger race. Close to best when short-headed over C&D three weeks ago and should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5/1 +50%) Saturnalia |
5/1(+50%) | (7) Saturnalia 5/1, Latest win at Lingfield in August. Bit below form fourth of 10 in handicap (5/1) at Kempton (7f). Off 136 days and she will need to find some improvement in order to take this. In good form last August/September but now returns from a layoff with a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (22/1 -38%) Guy Fawkes |
22/1(-38%) | (6) Guy Fawkes 22/1, Thrice-raced winner. One win from 2 runs last year. Eleventh of 12 in handicap (14/1) at this course (6f) 34 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Made winning debut at Southwell in November but hasn't matched that form here since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/2 +0%) Remarkable Force |
11/2(+0%) | (3) Remarkable Force 11/2, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/1 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 14 days ago. Place possibilities. Two good runs from three starts since joining Brian Toomey; unlikely to be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 -140%) Ultramarine |
8/1(-140%) | (4) Ultramarine 8/1, Course winner. Won 7-runner handicap at Kempton (7f, 9/4) 21 days ago. 3 lb rise fair enough and should make his presence felt. Has thrived this winter, winning four times; usually produced late; impossible to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (8/1 +0%) Tremblant |
8/1(+0%) | (2) Tremblant 8/1, Latest win at Deauville in August. Tongue strap on for 1st time, fifth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 33/1) 20 days ago. Likely to find a few of these too strong. Ex-French 4yo; unplaced in three runs for new connections, including in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (9/1 -29%) Letmelivemylife |
9/1(-29%) | (5) Letmelivemylife 9/1, Three-time C&D winner. Three wins from 9 runs last year. 3 lengths fourth of 7 to Ultramarine in handicap (4/1) at Kempton (7f) 21 days ago. Hood back on and he's one to consider. AW specialist with three wins here; slipping in the weights; leading contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Narrowly denied over C&D last time out, CHOLA EMPIRE can gain compensation on this occasion off a 3lb higher mark. He can end a losing streak dating back to last January with Jamie Spencer taking over in the saddle, while old rivals Love De Vega and recent Kempton scorer Ultramarine could fight it out for the places. Remarkable Force has run with credit since joining new connections and he cannot be ruled out either.
LOVE DE VEGA has held his form well in recent months and could be the answer returned to the scene of his latest success in January when proving ½-length too good for the re-opposing Ultramarine, a rival he actually now meets on 5 lb better terms. The latter hit the target at Kempton three weeks ago and should be in the mix once more but Letmelivemylife, who was fourth in that handicap, may well reverse those placings back at a course where he has a good record.
Letmelivemylife is tempting back at Chelmsford but preference is for LOVE DE VEGA, a 7f specialist with solid recent form.

1st (3) (3/1 -71%) H Key Lails |
3/1(-71%) | (3) H Key Lails 3/1, 4/1, creditable second of 7 in handicap at this C&D 15 days ago, having run of race. Expected to be bang there. Back on a handy mark and has been knocking at the door of late; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (15/8 +58%) Reverberation |
15/8(+58%) | (6) Reverberation 15/8, C&D winner. Latest win here in January. Creditable third of 8 in handicap at this course (10f, 4/1) 2 days ago. Likely to be in the thick of things once again if he goes to post. Veteran who arrives in good form here with a win, a second and a third; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/1 +25%) Further Measure |
9/1(+25%) | (5) Further Measure 9/1, C&D winner. Eighth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 12/1) 10 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Every chance if back to best but clearly needs to bounce back. Becoming very well handicapped and not one to write off but trip looks a bare minimum. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 -56%) Edmund Ironside |
7/1(-56%) | (4) Edmund Ironside 7/1, Winner at Lingfield in November. Eighth of 9 in handicap (4/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 31 days ago. Wouldn't be without a chance if able to get back on track. Had an excuse (drawn wide) last time and previous four runs were creditable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (5/1 -25%) Split Elevens |
5/1(-25%) | (7) Split Elevens 5/1, Unreliable sort. Course winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Fourth of 7 in handicap at this C&D (15/8) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive on balance. Respectable fourth over C&D two weeks ago; should be in the thick of things again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/1 -38%) Top Button |
11/1(-38%) | (2) Top Button 11/1, 10/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 31 days ago. Others preferred. Lightly raced 6yo; unplaced last five starts, two most recent ones some way below par. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (18/1 -13%) Reason To Pass |
18/1(-13%) | (1) Reason To Pass 18/1, Thrice-raced maiden. First run since leaving Hugo Palmer when seventh of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 80/1) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time for this handicap debut. Beaten at least 10l in three runs; may improve now handicapping but he needs to. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
H KEY LAILS arrives here on the back of two narrow second-placed finishes over C&D earlier in the month and, off just a 1lb higher mark, the four-year-old could return to winning ways here. That said, Split Elevens was not far behind the selection last time and he should not be discounted, while Edmund Ironside and Further Measure also merit places on the shortlist.
Having gone close over C&D the last twice, H KEY LAILS is taken to deservedly get his head back in front. Reverberation didn't do much wrong when third over 1¼m here on Thursday and will be a threat if taking his chance, while the selection's stablemate Edmund Ironside is best of the rest.
Michael Attwater may hold the key here and his in-form H KEY LAILS is taken to see off fellow 4yo and stablemate Edmund Ironside.

9/4(+0%) | (3) Beneficiary 9/4, Latest win at Newcastle in January. 5/2, creditable third of 10 in handicap there (6f) 14 days ago. One for the shortlist. Running well at a low level in recent weeks; should give it another good go back at 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 +22%) Tilsworth Ony Ta |
7/2(+22%) | (1) Tilsworth Ony Ta 7/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in January. 9/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 20 days ago so needs to get back on track. Two course wins this winter; had an excuse at Newcastle latest; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 -20%) Stroxx |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Stroxx 12/1, Remains a maiden after 46 runs but he comes here on the back of a very good second of 9 in minor event at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 33/1) 15 days ago. Not ruled out. 0-46; ran well for second last time but is far from certain to back it up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 +25%) Mellys Flyer |
6/1(+25%) | (4) Mellys Flyer 6/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023 and only eighth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 7/1) 17 days ago. Has work to do. Tumbled down the weights for this yard; something to prove at 5f; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 +44%) Lion Ring |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Lion Ring 9/2, C&D winner in October. Last of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 15/2) 5 days ago though so others are more persuasive. C&D winner; form dipped on Monday but a revival would be no surprise at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 -113%) Boom Boom Pow |
4/1(-113%) | (2) Boom Boom Pow 4/1, Scored at Kempton in June and arrives in very good nick, tongue strap on for 1st time when a close fourth of 6 in handicap at this C&D 15 days ago. Weighted to go close eased 1 lb. Infrequent winner but running well enough to be considered at this level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TILSWORTH ONY TA failed to fire at Newcastle last time but he won over this C&D prior to that defeat and the five-year-old can be given another chance as a result. Boom Boom Pow has not been beaten far on her last couple of starts and it would be no surprise to see her in the mix once again, while Beneficiary edges out Stroxx to be best of the rest.
Mark Usher's BOOM BOOM POW is one of the few to come here in excellent order so can resume winning ways at the chief expense of the consistent Beneficiary. Stroxx remains winless after 46 goes but can't be discounted either on the back of his good recent Wolverhampton second.
Beneficiary can go well back at 5f but TILSWORTH ONY TA has won twice here this winter and can go in again.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
