8/1(-140%) | (3) Hellavapace 8/1, Won at Wolverhampton in August. Creditable third of 10 in handicap (10/3) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 58 days ago. Enters calculations. Good third at Wolverhampton in November; leading claims with a repeat. |

9/2(+44%) | (8) Charlatan 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 11 in novice at Newbury (7f, good, 100/1) when last seen in May. Much less exposed than the rest of these now handicapping after 7 months off. Would come into it if the betting suggests he's fancied. Down the field in three maiden/novice runs; absent 8 months; more realistic task today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (17/2 -31%) Headshot |
17/2(-31%) | (6) Headshot 17/2, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/1, good third of 6 in C&D handicap 62 days ago. Two solid efforts since blinkers were added; should give it another good go from the front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 +26%) Ashmore |
10/3(+26%) | (4) Ashmore 10/3, Modest maiden. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 25/1) 15 days ago. Hasn't progressed but on a dangerous mark and latest effort wasn't too bad. |

16/1(-78%) | (1) Sirius White 16/1, Course winner. Latest win here in November. 9/2, tenth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7f) 38 days ago. Two 7f wins here, in good style in November; finished lame latest; stamina not assured. |

7th (7) (16/1 -33%) Tranquillity |
16/1(-33%) | (7) Tranquillity 16/1, Below form 10½ lengths seventh of 13 to Reverberation in handicap at this course (1¼m) 31 days ago. Exposed maiden but handles conditions and she holds each-way claims at least. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (20/1 +9%) Martini Lodge |
20/1(+9%) | (5) Martini Lodge 20/1, Modest maiden. Seventh of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7f, 14/1) 20 days ago. Hood on first time. Something to find on form. Patchy overall record; chance if repeating penultimate effort; new hood tried today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Sirius White's effort at Wolverhampton last time can easily be forgiven, as he was reported to be lame after the race, and he could get involved if reproducing his effort when victorious here on his penultimate start. However, preference is for REVERBERATION, who failed to justify favouritism over 1m4f on his most recent outing but this big drop in distance could help him to bounce back to form. Martini Lodge completes the shortlist in a first-time hood.
REVERBERATION might have had his stamina stretched over 1½m last time and is given another chance to build on his easy 1¼m course win last month. Hellavapace is respected on the back of her latest Wolverhampton third. A market move for David Simcock handicap newcomer Charlatan would also bring him firmly into the reckoning.
An unappealing event in which REVERBERATION is taken to leave his latest effort behind him now returned to Chelmsford.

First run for yard after leaving David Loughnane with work to do. Early promise in 2022; showed nothing in 2023 and off since last June; sold 1,905gns since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
NEW YORK BAY won impressively over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last week and only has to carry a 5lb penalty here. The son of New Bay could have plenty more to offer on only his third handicap start and looks difficult to oppose. Good Time Ahead finished a fair fourth over an extended 2m at Wolverhampton on his latest outing and can fight it out for second off a 1lb lower mark, while Taxiing is another to note.
NEW YORK BAY took a big step forward when getting off the mark in good style at Wolverhampton and is weighted to follow up under a 5 lb penalty on his polytrack bow. Good Time Ahead appeals as the one to chase home Gay Kelleway's unexposed stayer ahead of A Touch of Silver and Taxiing.
The quick return to action on a new surface are the worries for NEW YORK BAY but he does look much the most interesting runner.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ROTHAY PARK produced his best effort to date when runner-up at Lingfield in November and he sets a fair standard in this contest with a rating of 72. The three-year-old looks well placed to go one better and shed his maiden tag. Different Breed has been a model of consistency, as he hasn't finished out of the top three on each of his last four starts, and is likely to be in contention once again. Any market confidence behind Dyrholaey would also be of interest.
SCARBOROUGHWARNING shaped well when runner-up at Wolverhampton last time and with more improvement very much on the cards from Sir Mark Prescott's filly now she steps up in trip she looks the way to go. Different Breed has the form to have a big say too and is next on the list, although a market move for Archie Watson's newcomer Dyrholaey could put a different slant on things.
Rothay Park is a solid contender but SCARBOROUGHWARNING can take a step forward now upped to 6f for the first time.

9th (12) (66/1 -230%) Tilsworth Turf |
66/1(-230%) | (12) Tilsworth Turf 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, seventh of 12 in maiden at Southwell (5f) 27 days ago. Back up in trip. Poor form at big prices in his three runs in novice/maiden company; this more suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (40/1 -186%) Moveonup |
40/1(-186%) | (9) Moveonup 40/1, C&D winner. Last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 15/2) 65 days ago, lost all chance at start. Cheekpieces back on. Something to prove. C&D winner one year ago; second to Q Twenty Boy here in September; less good twice since. |

17/2(+23%) | (6) Kangaroo 17/2, Modest gelding. 10/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 22 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. 0-12 but his penultimate 2nd looks solid in the context of this race; had an excuse latest. |

Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. Fair performer as a 3yo; low-key return from long absence last month; risky. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DUE DATE could be the answer at this level having outrun huge odds to finish fourth in a handicap over C&D last month. The selection has dropped markedly in the handicap in recent months and this appears a good opportunity for Charlie Wallis' charge. Hard Solution (fifth) and Monsieur Fantaisie (eighth) are contenders based on last week's encounter at Lingfield.
UNIVERSAL GRACE got going too late at Lingfield last week and can bounce back to winning ways returned to the scene of her previous victory. Q Twenty Boy and Due Date are feared.
This can go to KANGAROO who can bounce back from a low-key run at Kempton last month.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SUNSET IN PARIS has posted some good efforts at this venue and has been found a good opportunity to follow up last month's comfortable success over this trip at Lingfield. That form gives him a big chance in this company and he is readily preferred to Uther Pendragon and Silver Bubble, who are suggested as the most likely dangers. The Lion Strikes sports cheekpieces for the first time and is also considered.
CALCUTTA DREAM shaped better than the bare result returning from 4 months off when fifth at Wolverhampton and has a good chance on these terms if building on that. Sunset In Paris and Uther Pendragon are others to consider.
Last year's winner Calcutta Dream is greatly respected but SUNSET IN PARIS won well at Lingfield last time and he can follow up.

11/2(-10%) | (2) Remarkable Force 11/2, First run since leaving Alice Haynes when good neck second of 13 to Riot in handicap (18/1) at this C&D 35 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Cheekpieces back on. Respected. Collared close home by Riot over C&D five weeks ago; headgear returns; one to consider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
REMARKABLE FORCE went close to making it a perfect start for new trainer Brian Toomey when narrowly denied over C&D by Riot last month and the four-year-old, who was only raised 1lb for that effort, is more than capable of going one better. The aforementioned Riot backed that effort up by finishing third here subsequently and is likely to enter calculations once again, while Love De Vega and Ultramarine are others worth noting.
ULTRAMARINE made short work of his rivals when making it 3 wins from his last 4 starts at Kempton on Saturday so has obvious claims off the same mark. Love de Vega has been knocking on the door of late and is next best ahead of Remarkable Force, who went close to making a winning debut for this yard over C&D 5 weeks ago.
The thriving ULTRAMARINE (nap) is 8lb well in after Saturday's bloodless Kempton win and he can complete his hat-trick.

6/5(-50%) | (3) The Gay Blade 6/5, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap (14/1) at Newcastle (6f) 7 days ago, having run of race. Has obvious claims under 5 lb penalty. Made all to win by a wide margin (6f) last week; 5lb well in; of obvious interest. |

2nd (4) (9/1 +10%) Awesome Spirit |
9/1(+10%) | (4) Awesome Spirit 9/1, Modest maiden. Run best excused in first-time hood and cheekpieces when last of 8 in handicap (22/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 12 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Yet to fire for current yard and his optimum trip is still to be established. |

3rd (5) (3/1 +25%) Sparkling Spirit |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Sparkling Spirit 3/1, Creditable third of 11 in handicap (16/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 3 days ago, conceding first run. Can give another good account back under fully-fledged rider. 14-race maiden but she's been threatening of late; H Doyle replaces 7lb claimer; chance. |

4th (7) (11/1 -38%) Brother Dave |
11/1(-38%) | (7) Brother Dave 11/1, Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 9/1) 16 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Makes polytrack debut and not one to write off. Unplaced in all 8 starts but has shown some potential on Tapeta; first run on Polytrack. |

5th (6) (50/1 +0%) Afterlife |
50/1(+0%) | (6) Afterlife 50/1, 33/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 22 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Has work to do. Generally struggled in handicaps and he has too much to prove despite a reduced mark. |

6th (8) (22/1 +56%) College Wizard |
22/1(+56%) | (8) College Wizard 22/1, Last of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 18/1) 20 days ago. Exposed maiden; tailed off last time and others look much safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (9/2 +25%) Wee Geordie |
9/2(+25%) | (2) Wee Geordie 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Eleventh of 12 in maiden at Southwell (5f, 15/2) 27 days ago. Significantly back up in trip for handicap debut and needs a market check. His promising effort came over C&D; moves into handicaps with potential; betting useful. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
THE GAY BLADE returned to winning ways with a vengeance at Newcastle last Thursday when making every yard of the running. Connections opt to take advantage of him running under a 5lb penalty, as he would carry 5lb more in future contests, and a repeat of that performance would make him tough to beat. Sparkling Spirit is capable of being in the mix following her third at Newcastle on Monday, while any market support for Wee Geordie would make him of interest.
THE GAY BLADE was seemingly much improved when winning by a wide margin at Newcastle last week and is the obvious choice to follow up under a penalty. Sparkling Spirit has been shaping up well recently and is considered the main threat, ahead of Brother Dave.
The Gay Blade is well in under a penalty for last week's Newcastle romp but the unexposed WEE GEORDIE is an interesting alternative
Ths is the racecard key.
