12:55 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Spirit Of Jura would hold leading claims judged on her runner-up effort at Wolverhampton, but a subsequent fourth at that venue leaves her with something to find. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a chance on WAR AND LOVE, who looked in need of the experience when finishing third on her debut at Lingfield last week. Seconds Count filled the runner-up spot ahead of the selection that day and she should also feature.

WAR AND LOVE shaped well amidst considerable greenness when third at Lingfield last week and seemingly the sort to improve markedly with that initial experience under her belt, Sir Mark Prescott's filly gets the nod at the expense of Spirit of Jura, who should be able to build on a couple of promising Wolverhampton efforts. Seconds Count can edge out recent winner Lovesick for third.

War And Love was an eyecatcher at Lingfield last week but SECONDS COUNT also shaped well and may again have the upper hand.

13:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CARLTON hasn't looked back since joining the James Owen team and a fourth consecutive victory over C&D could be in the offing. A 5lb penalty for the five-year-old's emphatic victory on Thursday is unlikely to prevent another bold bid and he's taken to repel the down-in-grade Tradesman. The son of Mastercraftsman arrives on the back of a solid third at Southwell and he warrants respect. Albert Lasker is also noted.

CARLTON has thrived since joining the James Owen yard, overcoming a lack of pace in the race to complete a C&D hat-trick on Thursday, and he looks to hold leading claims under a penalty. Sullivan Bay also arrives in good heart and could be the main danger, with 4-time course winner Tradesman completing the shortlist.

Easily most seems to depend on whether CARLTON can serve up the same as when he ended up winning with major authority here on Thursday.

14:10 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Rising Force occupied the runner-up berth over C&D two days ago and provided this quick turnaround doesn't pose him any problems, he ought to go close off an unchanged rating. However, RAVENSBOURNE gets the nod. Michael Keady's four-year-old outran big odds to make the frame at Newcastle earlier in the month and was kindly dropped 1lb. With Cieren Fallon booked, she may be the one to beat. Mashaan is the pick of the remainder.

RAVENSBOURNE has been shaping up well back in the care of one of her former trainers and she tops the shortlist off a career-low mark. Rising Force and Windsor Pass continue to hold their form well and they head the dangers.

The Alice Haynes-trained MASHAAN arrives in top form and could be the answer to a tightly knit handicap.

14:40 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 3) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Eagle Day is a previous C&D winner who bids for a hat-trick after registering a Wolverhampton brace, but a further 4lb rise might open the door for APIARIST. The son of Night Of Thunder was denied by just under a length in second in a deeper contest than this at Newcastle on New Year's Day and could defy his 2lb rise. Quiet Resolve and Waiting All Night are just two others to consider.

EAGLE DAY is thriving all of a sudden and had a bit to spare at Wolverhampton last time, so he's worth a chance to complete the hat-trick from a low draw despite stepping up into a more competitive handicap. Quiet Resolve is an obvious danger and Apiarist is another one who should be in the hunt.

In a wide-open contest, a chance is taken with the well-handicapped MR BALOO who could be revitalised by headgear.

15:15 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

BROOKLYN NINE NINE is most effective on the all-weather and having run on strongly to score at this level at Southwell last month, he has a big chance of following up off just 3lb higher, assuming he handles switching to Polytrack. Similar comments apply to We Never Stop, who has held his form well since being gelded and rates another key player. Sevensees carries useful form over from his time in Ireland is respected on debut for Stuart Williams.

BATAL DUBAI has made a positive start for new connections and remains potentially well treated after a 2 lb rise for his narrow success at Lingfield. We Never Stop has thrived on the AW of late and is next best ahead of Amazonian Dream, who is back down in class.

A case can be made for several of these but preference is for BROOKLYN NINE NINE who will be suited by the return to 6f.

15:52 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A winner over 5f here in November, the pacey My Turn Now should make this a good test if settling better than he did on his most recent start. However, a strong tempo can assist GLOBAL EFFORT, who posted an encouraging third-placed finish back over this trip at Wolverhampton on Tuesday. The quick turnaround suggests he can build on that effort to score here. Starshot is also noted with cheekpieces swapped for a first-time tongue-tie and visor.

MY TURN NOW rates the pick at these weights so is fancied to add to her November course success, at the chief expense of C&D winner Lilkian. Global Effort and Fast Flo appeal as the pick of the rest in the battle for minor honours.

This looks a good opportunity for LILKIAN to regain the winning thread. My Turn Now is feared most.

16:27 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BERNIE THE BEAR had the reopposing Jesse Luc (fourth) just under two lengths behind when denied by the narrowest of margins at Southwell last time out and he can go one better on this occasion. A relatively promising fourth when keeping on from off the pace at Wolverhampton on Tuesday, Mumcat is another to consider if able to break a bit sharper.

Linda Perratt's BERNIE THE BEAR is on a long losing run but holds the edge on the form of his good Southwell second last week so looks the way to go. Mumcat hinted at a revival when fourth at Wolverhampton only four days ago and heads the dangers, with in-form duo You Are Everything and Jesse Luc also in the mix.

Preference is for YOU ARE EVERYTHING (nap) over Bernie The Bear with Jesse Luc next on the list.

17:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A creditable third when looking to complete a double at Newcastle last time out, CUT TO THE CHASE has been in generally consistent form of late and a return to this track should suit as he looks to get back to winning ways. That may be at the main expense of Lord Danielson, who is turned out again quickly after landing a C&D apprentice handicap on Thursday. Fantasy Navigator and Salaamaat cannot be ruled out either.

CUT TO THE CHASE remains unexposed as a sprinter and can make it 2 wins from his last 3, continuing his yard's excellent run of form. Things didn't pan out for Poetic Jack last time and he can bounce back, while Nordic Glory should be in the mix once again.

The race may have come too soon for CUT TO THE CHASE at Newcastle last time and he's better judged on his win there the time before.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
