(6) (9/1 -80%)9/1(-80%) | (6) Wholly Boley 9/1, Mid-division all 4 starts in bumpers but won a point last month. Back under rules after winning Irish point by 6l last month; makes stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (11/10 +37%) Boomslang |
11/10(+37%) | (1) Boomslang 11/10, Has made a good return with solid runner-up efforts at Hexham and over C&D, not far off running the favourite down after that one's burst to the front here last time. Strong claims. Second in C&D handicap last month and likely to be right in the thick of things again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (16/1 -167%) Sky Luna |
16/1(-167%) | (10) Sky Luna 16/1, From the family of smart chaser (stayed 3½m) Bishops Road. Off mark in Irish points at ninth attempt (beat sole other finisher), May 26. Makes belated hurdles debut but yard's runners here always worth a look. Did not have a good completion rate during nine-race Irish point career; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 -129%) Skyjack Hijack |
16/1(-129%) | (3) Skyjack Hijack 16/1, Improved on his hurdling debut form after 7 months off when second at Southwell, rallying near the finish. Capable of winning races on that showing and tackles longer trip here. Second at Southwell this month but the form is nothing special; needs to improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (50/1 -100%) Shantou Champagne |
50/1(-100%) | (9) Shantou Champagne 50/1, Understandably looked very rusty on last month's hurdles debut here having been absent nearly 3 years since placed in a couple of bumpers. This could reveal more. Second in two bumpers in 2021; absent over 1,000 days before modest fourth on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (150/1 -355%) You Will Be Found |
150/1(-355%) | (7) You Will Be Found 150/1, Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Brewers Project (winner around 2m, by Aizavoski). Placed completed start in Irish points, pulled up last time (May 26). Placed in one of his four Irish points but pulled up in the other three; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (80/1 +20%) The Jeweller's Pet |
80/1(+20%) | (4) The Jeweller's Pet 80/1, In the frame twice in points but well held in 2 Perth hurdles in recent weeks. Upped further in trip now. Showed only minor promise on first two hurdling starts; not the most obvious answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (100/1 -2122%) Prince Imperial |
100/1(-2122%) | (2) Prince Imperial 100/1, Fair maiden hurdler with plenty of placed efforts to his name. Can go well if staying this new trip on first run for 7 months. Absent since disappointing run in November but a major player if back on song here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (8) (25/1 -456%) Chief O'hara |
25/1(-456%) | (8) Chief O'hara 25/1, 16/1, fared best of the newcomers when fifth in 19f Kilbeggan bumper on debut 6 weeks ago. Longer trip will suit on hurdles bow and has Sean Bowen up. With respected Irish stable and made quite promising bumper debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (125/1 -150%) Tumble Tumbleweed |
125/1(-150%) | (5) Tumble Tumbleweed 125/1, Half-brother to modest chaser O Mio Babbino. 80/1, offered little in Southwell novice hurdle 3 weeks ago. Up in trip. Well beaten when 80-1 for recent debut at Southwell (2m4f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Stable debutant Prince Imperial is on a recovery mission having finished in last at Ascot in November, but he's likely to prove far more competitive in these calmer waters. Although Harriet Dickin's inmate must enter calculations, BOOMSLANG rates a much more solid proposition. The seven-year-old arrives on the back of a close-up second in handicap company over C&D and a reproduction of that performance may suffice. Point winner Sky Luna is also noted.
BOOMSLANG has gone close in 2 runs over C&D and can get the job done this time. Prince Imperial has races in him in this sphere, while Chief O'Hara is worth a look on his hurdles debut.
Back in novice company after finishing second in a C&D handicap last month, BOOMSLANG looks the one to beat.

1st (10) (4/1 +20%) Asa |
4/1(+20%) | (10) Asa 4/1, Well backed and duly ran better than for a while with positive tactics adopted for the first time for current connections when narrowly denied at Market Rasen (20.6f) . Plugged on for third at Worcester and very much looks ready for a step back up in trip. Big player in first-time cheekpieces. 0-14 over hurdles but lost out only narrowly to a next-time-out winner last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (25/1 -317%) Starlyte |
25/1(-317%) | (3) Starlyte 25/1, Losing run mounting up but her mark reflects that she shouldn't be judged too harshly on what she's shown in 3 runs this season. Does look to be in need of a thorough test of stamina these days, though. Kept on for third at Southwell this month but has a modest strike-rate; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (11/2 -10%) Lady Hamilton |
11/2(-10%) | (9) Lady Hamilton 11/2, Still a maiden but she has found some consistency in recent starts, confirming stamina for 23.3f when third in first-time cheekpieces at Hexham on Sunday. One to consider. 0-19 overall but has posted a string of decent efforts in recent weeks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (100/1 -2122%) Ragosina |
100/1(-2122%) | (2) Ragosina 100/1, Flat winner who struck at the fourth time of asking over hurdles when seeing off 4 rivals in a 2½m Sedgefield mares' novice in February. Heavy defeats both hurdles outings since but fit from a creditable run back on the level at Goodwood a fortnight ago. Has mixed record last season but won a Sedgefield novice in February; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (50/1 -213%) Stamina Chope |
50/1(-213%) | (5) Stamina Chope 50/1, Has returned over hurdles in good form, winning over 25f at Plumpton. Found 2m an inadequate test when third at Leicester in November and got back on track without managing to get competitive when fifth at Hereford in January. Similar story back over fences. Versatile mare; safely held this month, after a break, but back on last winning mark now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (50/1 -1150%) Fiadh |
50/1(-1150%) | (8) Fiadh 50/1, Won over 3m at Wetherby last March. Into her shell after but down a long way in the weights and stopped the slide when runner-up at Southwell recently. Back on song when second to another rejuvenated mare at Southwell last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (100/1 -1567%) Meadow Soprano |
100/1(-1567%) | (1) Meadow Soprano 100/1, Flat winner in Denmark early in his career but little to get excited about over hurdles in Ireland for current yard, jumipng poorly at Listowel a month ago. Now goes handicapping and she is in good hands. Has not shown a great deal in Irish maiden hurdles but stable does well in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (100/1 -614%) Atlanticexpress |
100/1(-614%) | (6) Atlanticexpress 100/1, Safely held on debut for Joseph O'Brien in a mares' maiden hurdle at Punchestown (22.5f) in February and, easy to back, she offered little in a couple of novice events. Handicaps more suitable, as it this trip. Struggled in three slow-ground maiden/novice hurdles; good ground may suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (66/1 -371%) Ruler Of The River |
66/1(-371%) | (7) Ruler Of The River 66/1, Maiden on the Flat who stayed on well to open her account in a juvenile maiden at Kelso (16.2f) in March. Fit from pair of spins on Flat but below best both outings over timber since. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Has not offered much in handicaps since winning juvenile maiden in March; up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -525%) Western Glen |
100/1(-525%) | (4) Western Glen 100/1, Limited impact so far but down in the weights and offered a bit more when fourth at Market Rasen last month. Well held at Uttoxeter since but that was without her usual hood. Up in trip. Tailed off after racing too freely this month; has now been unplaced all seven hurdle runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ASA lost little in defeat when staying on to finish third behind a subsequent winner over 2m4f at Worcester earlier this month and these extra two furlongs should suit. Philip Kirby's mare makes plenty of appeal racing off an unchanged mark and a breakthrough victory could be imminent. The biggest threat may be posed by recent Hexham third Lady Hamilton, while Starlyte could also threaten if building on her recent placed effort at Southwell.
The combinations of first-time cheekpieces and a step back up in trip may help ASA travel with a bit more purpose, and if that is the case, she's capable of winning from her basement mark. Ragosina is fit from the Flat and receives a handy age allowance, so she's in the mix, along with Lady Hamilton.
Chris Grant's mare FIADH turned things around with a good second at Southwell last month and will be suited by the longer trip here.

1st (2) (10/1 +0%) Belles Benefit |
10/1(+0%) | (2) Belles Benefit 10/1, Successful on debut for this yard at Fontwell in summer 2022. Exploits mixed in handful of starts during 2023/24 campaign and she needs to hit the ground running back from 5 months off. Absent since pulled up in January but was placed off much higher mark over C&D last summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (25/1 -25%) Solway Molly |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Solway Molly 25/1, Bumper winner who got off the mark at the ninth attempt in this sphere when making all at Hexham (20.1f) in October. Disappointed on 2 of her next 3 starts but appeared to find the test too sharp (after 7 months off) when pulled up at Perth (16.2f) 19 days ago. This should reveal more. Won in October but pulled up this month, after a break; needs to have come on for the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (8/1 +20%) You Some Girl |
8/1(+20%) | (8) You Some Girl 8/1, Fair bumper winner who was far from disgraced equipped with a hood/tongue tie when second of 5 in mares' handicap at Carlisle (17f, soft) in March. Return to this longer trip won't inconvenience on return. 0-8 over hurdles; off since modest second in March; untested on round this quick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (100/1 -1438%) Joie De Vivre |
100/1(-1438%) | (6) Joie De Vivre 100/1, Fair Flat winner who got off the mark in this sphere in 21f handicap at Sedgefield in November. Placed under both codes next 2 starts but she does need to shrug off a less er run when last of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (12f) 5 weeks ago. Visor refitted for return to hurdling. Only 2lb higher than for Sedgefield win in November but ran poorly on the Flat last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (66/1 -164%) Lady Harriett |
66/1(-164%) | (10) Lady Harriett 66/1, Showed some ability on first of 2 starts in bumpers. yet to offer much over hurdles, though she's best forgiven her handicap debut effort at Ffos Las (23.9f) 4 weeks ago, having been badly hampered early on. Still, she's best watched at present. Yet to show any significant promise after four hurdling starts but remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (80/1 -1900%) Faerie Cutlass |
80/1(-1900%) | (3) Faerie Cutlass 80/1, Off the mark at Worcester (20f) 13 months ago and, similar form in trio of starts since, creditable third of 12 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (23.9f) 4 weeks ago. Rates a likely player eased back down in trip. Back from layoff with two good efforts this spring, and not yet fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (66/1 -230%) Gine Sacre |
66/1(-230%) | (9) Gine Sacre 66/1, French import who hasn't offered a great deal in trio of hurdle starts since returning from a lengthy absence, albeit seemingly unsuited by the drop back to 2m at Hexham 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces reached for here. Not beaten far in two handicap hurdles this spring (2m4f/2m) but now 0-15 overall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (100/1 -4344%) Emily Wade |
100/1(-4344%) | (5) Emily Wade 100/1, Not at best during second half of last season but eased in weights as a result and she duly capitalised with a tongue tie added to usual hood when landing 7-runner mares' handicap at Southwell (20.4f) 17 days ago. A repeat gives her sound claims from 6 lb higher. Returned to form with ready win at Southwell this month and remains well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (100/1 -2122%) Of Course You Can |
100/1(-2122%) | (1) Of Course You Can 100/1, Showed ability in bumpers and improved efforts switched to handicaps in this sphere the last twice, fourth of 12 at Ffos Las (good) recently and likely to be in the mix off the same mark. Ran well in first two handicaps (2m5f/3m) and could still have more to offer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The addition of a first-time tongue-tie appeared to unlock a improvement from EMILY WADE, who scored with something in hand at Southwell earlier in June. A 6lb rise in the ratings looks on the lenient side for the daughter of Lucky Speed and she's taken to strike once more. Placed efforts at Ludlow and Ffos Las in recent months brings Faerie Cutlass into the reckoning, with looking Little Talks next best.
EMILY WADE capitalised on a falling mark with a tongue strap added in good style at Southwell 17 days ago and, remaining well treated on old form, she looks a sound player in her follow-up bid. Faerie Cutlass is proving consistent and feared along with Of Course You Can.
Still well handicapped after her recent Southwell win, EMILY WADE (nap) is proven on this track and makes strong appeal.

1st (6) (13/2 +19%) Ilikedwayurthinkin |
13/2(+19%) | (6) Ilikedwayurthinkin 13/2, Useful winning handicap hurdler/chaser in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell. Winless for over 3 years but more encouraging signs when third of 6 in handicap hurdle at this course (22.1f, soft) 30 days ago. Potentially very well handicapped back chasing. Not the force of old but seemed to have turned a corner over hurdles here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (9/2 -13%) Do No Wrong |
9/2(-13%) | (8) Do No Wrong 9/2, Gained fourth victory from first 5 completed starts over fences in a 6-runner handicap at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft) early in the month. Ran at least as well when second at Stratford (22.6f, good to soft, 7/2) 10 days ago and he should be in the mix again. 4-9 over fences; 3lb well in after big run in defeat at Stratford ten days ago; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (16/1 -191%) Elleon |
16/1(-191%) | (11) Elleon 16/1, Still not the most of fluent of jumpers but has enjoyed a fine start to the season, landing back-to-back handicaps at Hexham 10 days apart. Shaped like best horse at the weights when third there 5 days ago and has to be involved again if quick turnaround has no ill effects. Dual winner at Hexham this spring; today's rise in grade demands career-best performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (100/1 -614%) Musical Slave |
100/1(-614%) | (3) Musical Slave 100/1, Useful, if error-prone, sort at his best but hasn't made an impact since last season's return. Blinkers now reached for. Regressive and inconsistent veteran; needs to respond positively to headgear switch here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (100/1 -203%) Universal Folly |
100/1(-203%) | (1) Universal Folly 100/1, Completed a hat-trick over fences at Hexham in October and continued in good heart when runner-up at Aintree (25f) and Carlisle (20f). Little show in a pair of outings for this yard, though, so others are preferred. Back on a workable mark now but did not fire on either start for new stable this spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (100/1 -1329%) Mario De Pail |
100/1(-1329%) | (5) Mario De Pail 100/1, Fairly useful but error-prone maiden over fences, shaping as if needing the run when third of 9 in hunter chase at this C&D (soft) 30 days ago. Entitled to be sharper now but others are preferred. Ran well when placed in C&D hunter chase last month but probably needs a bigger run today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (100/1 -1233%) Jelski |
100/1(-1233%) | (9) Jelski 100/1, Won this race last season prior to following up over 21f here the following month. Ran creditably when third of 4 in handicap chase at this course (29.4f, good to soft, 7/2) 32 days ago and isn't ruled out back below last winning mark. Four course wins, including this race in 2023; on workable mark and enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (100/1 -733%) Brandy Mcqueen |
100/1(-733%) | (7) Brandy Mcqueen 100/1, Progressive staying hurdler in 2022/23 who made a winning start over fences off 6 lb higher at Kelso in October. Has looked hard to catch right since, though, and needs to improve on recent Perth effort to figure. Ran well but finished weakly in two hurdles this spring; tailed off when back over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (80/1 -1900%) Leading Force |
80/1(-1900%) | (4) Leading Force 80/1, Took a step forward to get off the mark in 9-runner event at Sedgefield (21.1f, good) in May and ran creditably when runner-up at Market Rasen (21.4f, good) a fortnight ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Player. Won comfortably at Sedgefield last month and runner-up off new mark since; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (100/1 -1900%) Empire De Maulde |
100/1(-1900%) | (2) Empire De Maulde 100/1, Seen only sparingly in recent years but belatedly proved he retains a good chunk of his ability when third of 8 in handicap chase at Kelso (23.4f, good, 40/1) 51 days ago. Respected. Returned to form last month, after a layoff, and remains on a very good mark; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (100/1 -400%) Global Assembly |
100/1(-400%) | (10) Global Assembly 100/1, Dual winning pointer has placed on all 4 starts under Rules without proving progressive. Since last of 2 finishers between the flags since most recent chase outing and has left David Christie for £8,000. Others preferred. 2-13 in points in Ireland, and made the frame in four slow-ground hunter chases there. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN took a step in the right direction with cheekpieces reapplied when third here over hurdles at the end of last month. The 10-year-old last ran over fences in Ireland off a 23lb higher mark and this may be a good opportunity for him to bounce back to winning ways. Do No Wrong continues to progress over the larger obstacles and may have more to offer back up in distance, while Jelski's third to the admirable Mill Green here last time gives him viable credentials.
ELLEON found his clumsiness costing him the hat-trick at Hexham last time but Cartmel poses an easier jumping test and he's fancied to resume winning ways at the chief expense of the similarly in-form Do No Wrong. Ilikedwayurthinkin has slipped a long way in the weights and caught the eye to a degree over hurdles last time, so is just preferred to Leading Force to complete the placings.
Still well handicapped on older form, EMPIRE DE MAULDE returned from a layoff with a pleasing run last month and might be the answer.

1st (3) (11/1 -120%) Isholo Du Vivien |
11/1(-120%) | (3) Isholo Du Vivien 11/1, Point winner who showed promise on 3 of his 4 starts over hurdles and ran out a ready winner on his second start in this sphere at Stratford (17f) earlier this month. May have found race coming too soon when below par at Market Rasen next time and not ruled out. Made all over 2m1f on chase debut two starts ago and is open to improvement over this trip. |

2nd (1) (12/1 +25%) Arctic Ambition |
12/1(+25%) | (1) Arctic Ambition 12/1, Lost his way for Gordon Elliott but hinted at a revival for current yard over a longer trip at Bangor earlier this month and has been cut plenty of slack by the handicapper. Out of form since the autumn but drops in grade today and is well suited by this C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -200%) Goodtimes Badtimes |
12/1(-200%) | (4) Goodtimes Badtimes 12/1, Modest winner at 24f over hurdles but below that level when fourth of 7 at Kelso (23.4f, soft) on debut over fences 33 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Plenty to find on form. Shaped with promise on last month's chasing debut; refitted cheekpieces should help here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +44%) Dr Sanderson |
5/2(+44%) | (5) Dr Sanderson 5/2, Dual winner here during summer of 2022. Essentially struggled over hurdles/fences throughout last season but fallen plenty in the weights as a result and more encouraging signs when third in C&D handicap last month. 2 lb lower now and is one to consider Very much on the downgrade now but runs this track well; placed over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (80/1 -1131%) Kicksaftersix |
80/1(-1131%) | (7) Kicksaftersix 80/1, Hexham winner (15.6f) last summer and back to that sort of form when third of 10 in handicap chase over same C&D (15.6f) 13 days ago, left with too much to do. Worth a try at this longer trip. Kept on for respectable third at Hexham this month but others appeal more all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (100/1 -900%) Rory's Story |
100/1(-900%) | (11) Rory's Story 100/1, Yet to score but improved from chase-debut effort when third of 10 in handicap at Bangor (20.3f, good) 20 days ago. Claims if building on that. Ran well when placed at Bangor this month but needs to take another step forward today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (80/1 -1355%) Follow Your Arrow |
80/1(-1355%) | (6) Follow Your Arrow 80/1, Just 1 win from 22 NH runs but has dropped to a lenient mark and posted solid fourth at Hexham (20.1f, soft) 27 days ago. Could play a part. Placed off much higher mark here last spring and latest run hinted at return to form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (40/1 -100%) Royle Steel |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Royle Steel 40/1, Fair winner over hurdles who got off the mark in this sphere at Sedgefield (19.3f) in October. Below that form since, however, and others are more appealing. Led close home at Sedgefield in October but subsequent efforts have all been disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (66/1 -843%) Edgewell |
66/1(-843%) | (8) Edgewell 66/1, Shaped better than bare result, in first-time cheekpieces, when sixth of 9 in handicap chase at Hexham (20.1f, good, 11/2) 5 days ago. Likely more to come over fences and is one for shortlist. Unexposed 6yo; not beaten far in two recent Hexham chases; improvement possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (100/1 -100%) Agent Valdez |
100/1(-100%) | (2) Agent Valdez 100/1, Beaten a long way out, back from lengthy absence, when pulled up over C&D 34 days ago and can only be watched. After her latest layoff, she was a pulled-up 66-1 shot over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (100/1 -525%) Buck Of Maine |
100/1(-525%) | (12) Buck Of Maine 100/1, From a good French family and reached the frame in both bumpers last year. However, little to shout about over hurdles and likely best watched on debut over the larger obstacles here. Cheekpieces on first time. Struggled in both handicap hurdles; now chasing with cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (100/1 -733%) Onenightintown |
100/1(-733%) | (10) Onenightintown 100/1, Dual chase scorer in 2022 who got his head back in front at Catterick (19.2f) in February and only narrowly failed to follow up at Market Rasen (19.2f) 18 days later. May have been unsuited by testing ground when running poorly at Hexham last time but percentage call is to look elsewhere. Won at Catterick during the winter but returns from break on fairly tough mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ISHOLO DU VIVIEN may have been feeling the exertions of his Stratford victory when turned out quickly to finish an underwhelming third just six days later under a 7lb penalty at Market Rasen. A longer break between his races might be the key for Donald McCain's gelding to bounce back on this occasion. Dr Sanderson's recent third here earns him a place on the shortlist, with Kicksaftersix and Follow Your Arrow others worth considering.
EDGEWELL hinted at better to come on just his second start over fences at Hexham last week and can open his account. Dr Sanderson and Kicksaftersix head the list of dangers.
The refitted cheekpieces can give a boost to GOODTIMES BADTIMES, who made a very encouraging chasing debut at Kelso last month.

1st (6) (11/2 +31%) Sean Og |
11/2(+31%) | (6) Sean Og 11/2, Remains a maiden but arrives in good order third at this course a month ago. Switches back to chasing and can't be ruled out. 0-17 but came second in Sedgefield chase in May and was placed over hurdles here last time. |

2nd (7) (13/2 -63%) Unwanted Attention |
13/2(-63%) | (7) Unwanted Attention 13/2, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap chase (10/3) at Market Rasen (21.4f, good to firm) 21 days ago, keeping on well. Should go well again. Clearcut winner at Market Rasen when back on good ground this month; may progress again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (100/1 -3536%) Olivers Travels |
100/1(-3536%) | (2) Olivers Travels 100/1, Successful both starts in bumpers and off the mark over hurdles at Worcester (23f) in September. Plenty of encouragement when third on chasing debut at Uttoxeter, finishing with running left after meeting trouble. Big Player. Very respectable third of five on recent chasing debut, and probably still has potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (100/1 -1233%) Ingennio |
100/1(-1233%) | (4) Ingennio 100/1, Hacked up in a selling handicap at Fakenham in April and followed up there in decisive fashion 11 days later. Left Richard Hobson and only fifth there last time, though. Dual winner at Fakenham in April and likely to be suited by this fairly similar track too. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (100/1 -1567%) Shadows In The Sky |
100/1(-1567%) | (5) Shadows In The Sky 100/1, Point winner who opened his Rules account when accounting for 7 rivals here at Hexham in May. Not disgraced there last time and return to this trip will help. Made all at Hexham last month, his sixth chasing start; others might have more potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (66/1 -371%) Cuzco Du Mathan |
66/1(-371%) | (3) Cuzco Du Mathan 66/1, French recruit who produced much his best effort so far on these shores when bolting up in the first-time visor over hurdles here in August. Not in same form next time but worthy of respect back here (chasing this time) after 8 months off. Wide-margin hurdle winner here last August but off since a lesser run in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (100/1 -3536%) Sleeping Satellite |
100/1(-3536%) | (1) Sleeping Satellite 100/1, Point/bumper winner who has also scored over hurdles and made a promising start to chasing at Market Rasen last month Close second to progressive rival on last month's chasing debut; leading contender here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Sleeping Satellite should go well after a half-length second at Market Rasen on his chasing debut and he could be capable of mounting a challenge off a 3lb higher mark. Ingennio has winning form over fences, having scored twice at Fakenham in April, and is not one to underestimate, but OLIVERS TRAVELS is preferred. He ran well on his debut over fences when third at Uttoxeter, has winning form over hurdles on the expected going, and represents a stable with recent winners.
OLIVERS TRAVELS shaped well on chasing debut and his stable has a good record here, so he's worth a chance to open his account in this sphere at the possible expense of Sleeping Satellite, who also has the potential for better. Last-time-out winner Unwanted Attention is another player.
Donald McCain's SLEEPING SATELLITE bumped into a progressive rival when second on his chasing debut and can go one better here.

1st (10) (4/1 +56%) Calevade |
4/1(+56%) | (10) Calevade 4/1, Dual C&D winner last summer, including this race. Lost his way earlier but a recent outing on the Flat at Catterick wasn't too bad and he merits respect under John Dawson at a venue which suits. Took this 12 months ago and fifth on Flat at Catterick latest; player with John Dawson up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (12/1 +25%) Restandbethankful |
12/1(+25%) | (9) Restandbethankful 12/1, Notched second success over fences at Sedgefield last October and runner-up off his lower hurdle mark at Cartmel in January. Probably in better heart than his recent form figures might suggest and not discounted. Not disgraced when fourth at Market Rasen two weeks ago; considered back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (100/1 -1011%) Ashington |
100/1(-1011%) | (1) Ashington 100/1, Losing run stretches back to March 2022 but put in a good shift over fences when third at Sedgefield last month. Failed to stay 3m in a Hexham chase last time and worth treating as if still in form back hurdling. In good nick from a couple of runs over fences this term; considered back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (11/2 -22%) Mermaids Cave |
11/2(-22%) | (7) Mermaids Cave 11/2, Has sprouted wings since joining James Owen, completing a handicap hurdle hat-trick over C&D at the end of May. Not seen to best effect from well off the pace when fifth at Newton Abbot a fortnight ago and might be premature to think the handicapper has got her. C&D winner; fifth in steadily-run race at Newton Abbot latest; well worth another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (50/1 -456%) Pittsburg |
50/1(-456%) | (13) Pittsburg 50/1, Dual chaser winner last summer. Also scored on AW Flat in March but well held back jumping in recent weeks. Won on Flat in March but more recent efforts over hurdles have been far less encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (80/1 -2809%) Allbetsoff |
80/1(-2809%) | (4) Allbetsoff 80/1, Notched 3 wins in the first half of last season and resumed winning ways 2m Hexham handicap 4 weeks ago. Likely to remain competitive after a 3 lb nudge. Hood back on when winning Hexham handicap hurdle 27 days ago; up 3lb but not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (100/1 -400%) Rhyme Scheme |
100/1(-400%) | (14) Rhyme Scheme 100/1, Regressive on the Flat and poor form over hurdles. Was fourth of 10 in a 2m Hexham handicap 13 days ago but he has to race from 10 lb out of the handicap here. Good fourth at Hexham 13 days ago; no easy ask though from 10lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (100/1 -733%) Sweet Street |
100/1(-733%) | (3) Sweet Street 100/1, Fairly useful hurdle winner earlier in his career but below that level over fences in Ireland in recent years. More recent point efforts also nothing to get excited about but is worth a betting check back hurdling for a new stable. Arrives below form over fences for Roger McGrath; needs yard switch to spark resurgence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (100/1 -1011%) Bathgate |
100/1(-1011%) | (11) Bathgate 100/1, Offered little in bumpers but more promising signs when reaching the frame in a couple of maiden hurdles for Tom Weston this spring. Has a much less exposed profile than the majority of these and it'll be very interesting to see what the betting makes of him on his handicap and yard debut. Showed promise for Tom Weston; much respected now going handicapping for his new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (100/1 -203%) Mr Rumbalicious |
100/1(-203%) | (12) Mr Rumbalicious 100/1, Successful twice on the level last spring and overcame market weakness to make a winning handicap hurdle debut over C&D last August. Has failed to complete in his 3 outings since but he may have needed his latest outing here after 5 months off. Won over C&D but failed to complete on all three runs since; he needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (100/1 -900%) Langton Wold |
100/1(-900%) | (6) Langton Wold 100/1, Fair Flat winner who opened his account over hurdles at the third attempt in maiden at Sedgefield (17f) on Boxing Day. Creditable fourth in a handicap hurdle in February. Fit from Flat, respectable third on chase debut 4 weeks ago. Has had his wind operated on since. Third on Stratford chasing debut; had wind op and much respected reverted to this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (100/1 -614%) Jeepydoff Meel |
100/1(-614%) | (2) Jeepydoff Meel 100/1, Got off the mark at Market Rasen (18.5f) last June and also runner-up in novices on 3 other occasions in the first half of last season. Absent since pulling up in a Sedgefield handicap last October. Betting perhaps the best guide after 8 months off. Pulled up at Sedgefield in October; not seen since so needs to hit the ground running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (100/1 -900%) Fazayte |
100/1(-900%) | (5) Fazayte 100/1, Hurdle and chase winner who has recorded 2 creditable efforts over fences this month. Tongue strap back on. Not discounted. Solid third at Market Rasen two weeks ago; shortlisted with tongue-tie refitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -400%) Yukon |
100/1(-400%) | (8) Yukon 100/1, Fair maiden on Flat but struck at first time of asking over hurdles in maiden at Sedgefield in October 2022. Also second in a C&D handicap just over a year ago but pulled up in a course handicap on her reappearance a month ago. Pulled up on his return over 2m6f here 30 days ago; others are much preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Last year's winner CALEVADE is back to defend his crown and should be spot-on after a run on the Flat at Catterick recently. He races off 5lb higher this year but loves the track and gets his ground, making him one to take seriously. Brian Ellison's horses are running well and a bold effort from Langton Wold on his return to hurdles could be on the cards, while Mermaids Cave can hit a place if she races nearer to the early pace.
MERMAIDS CAVE wasn't seen to best effect at Newton Abbot last time and might be worth another chance back at the scene of her win at the end of last month. Last year's winner Calevade arrives on the back of a respectable effort on the Flat 3 weeks ago and could make a bold bid to defend his crown under John Dawson. Phil Kirby handicap newcomer Bathgate and recent Hexham scorer Allbetsoff complete the shortlist.
James Owen's thriving MERMAIDS CAVE didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fifth at Newton Abbot last time and can bag another C&D win
Ths is the racecard key.
