1st (7) (6/1 +50%) Heritier |
6/1(+50%) | (7) Heritier 6/1, Had a breathing operation ahead of return and sound fourth of 11 over 17.2f here in October. Race may have come too soon back here last time given he was disappointing and he's now up in trip. Didn't fire here last time but is largely consistent and his current mark is workable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 +36%) Half Track |
9/1(+36%) | (5) Half Track 9/1, Lightly-raced and poor completion rate (primarily over fences) since landing an Ayr novice hurdle back in December 2021. Latest Carlisle third shows some ability remains but others still more persuasive. Shaped well here in October, on what was effectively his first start since 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (18/1 -100%) Perculator |
18/1(-100%) | (8) Perculator 18/1, Returned to form with cheekpieces refitted when narrowly landing a 6-runner Wetherby handicap (21.2f, good) a month ago. Matched that form when third from 4 lb higher over 24.6f here 12 days ago so she's in better heart than most. Back in trip. Back in good form in refitted cheekpieces last month; ought to be in the shake-up again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (25/1 +0%) Lincoln Burrows |
25/1(+0%) | (10) Lincoln Burrows 25/1, Justified support in first-time cheekpieces when seeing off 10 rivals at Newcastle in January but held back by mistakes both starts to end the campaign. Cheekpieces off for reappearance. Finished first off this mark in January but ended last season in poor form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (20/1 -25%) Kingston Rock |
20/1(-25%) | (11) Kingston Rock 20/1, Maiden who never really looked like justifying strong support on return/chase debut following a breathing operation in October. Since left Susan Corbett and back over timber. Ten-race maiden who has not yet shown anything more than minor promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/2 +0%) Got Your Back |
11/2(+0%) | (1) Got Your Back 11/2, Off the mark on second of 4 starts in maiden/novice hurdles at Musselburgh (19.8f) last December. Ended the season in slightly disappointing fashion but sound-enough star to life in handicaps, fourth of 9 back from a break at Carlisle in October. Returned from break with pretty good fourth here in October; probably in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (1/1 +60%) Horsesomeharry |
1/1(+60%) | (4) Horsesomeharry 1/1, Fitted with cheekpieces and a different proposition on handicap debut/reappearance when successful here 3 weeks ago. 6 lb rise probably underestimates him with prospect of more to come. Low-mileage 6yo who improved to win on handicap debut here last month; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (11/1 -144%) Zwicky |
11/1(-144%) | (3) Zwicky 11/1, Multiple-hurdles winner last year and managed to win over fences at Sedgefield in October. Also second back there 17 days ago but no real surprise he's back hurdling as he hasn't really looked a natural chaser. Cheekpieces also on. Switches back to hurdling after two good chase runs at Sedgefield this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (80/1 -142%) Pitempton Power |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Pitempton Power 80/1, Back-to-back chase winner in 2021/22 but little to shout about in a very light 2022/23 and he's been off the best part of 2 years. Out of form over fences when last seen in 2022-23 season; probably best watched today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (22/1 -267%) Kidman |
22/1(-267%) | (2) Kidman 22/1, Lightly-raced hurdler who following a further 16 months off, shaped as if retaining his ability when fourth in a Kelso maiden in March. Made a bold bid to land a touch when collared close home at Hexham 3 weeks ago and this a relatively quick turnaround by his standards for handicap debut. Clear second in Hexham maiden last month; likely contender again on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 -560%) Duty Calls |
66/1(-560%) | (6) Duty Calls 66/1, Cashed in on a reduced mark over fences at Kelso in March. Back in a better race and suffered heavy defeat back there 2 months later. Balance of hurdles form suggests he'll come up short aged 11. Absent since running poorly in a chase in May; first hurdle start since April 2023. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A step up in distance proved just the tonic for course winner HORSESOMEHARRY when scoring with something in hand over 2m4f here last month. A 6lb higher mark could prove to be on the lenient side for the six-year-old and he's fancied to follow up. Half Track found only two progressive rivals too strong here last time out and he's feared most racing off a 1lb lower mark, ahead of Perculator.
HORSESOMEHARRY left his qualifying form trailing in his wake when making a winning handicap debut/reappearance fitted with cheekpieces for the first time here 3 weeks ago. He can shrug off a 6 lb rise in the weights at the chief expense of Got Your Back and Kidman.
This looks good for low-mileage 6yo HORSESOMEHARRY (nap), who scored on the other track here on last month's handicap debut.

1st (1) (2/11 -9%) Caldwell Potter |
2/11(-9%) | (1) Caldwell Potter 2/11, Rapidly made up into a smart novice hurdler in Ireland for Gordon Elliott, winning 2m Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas. New connections acquired for €740,000 in February and looks an exciting recruit to chasing. Grade 1 novice hurdle winner last season; changed hands for 740,000euros in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (28/1 +58%) Hombre De Guerra |
28/1(+58%) | (4) Hombre De Guerra 28/1, Fair hurdler who got off the mark at Ayr (16f) in March. However, below that level at same course when last seen in April and faces a stiff task on switch to larger obstacles here. Had wind operation. Narrow winner of maiden hurdle in March; open to improvement over fences this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 +33%) Grand Albert |
6/1(+33%) | (3) Grand Albert 6/1, Winning Irish pointer who improved with each start last term, ending campaign with creditable second of 7 in novice hurdle at Bangor (23.2f, soft) in April. Type to make a chaser but this trip looks on the short side. Promising hurdler last season; good chasing prospect but needs Caldwell Potter to flop. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (25/1 -56%) Taras Halls |
25/1(-56%) | (7) Taras Halls 25/1, Unable to get his head in front over hurdles for Sue Smith, including when fifth in Market Rasen novice on return, and is best watched on chase debut for new connections here. Hooded for first time. Showed some fair form in defeat over hurdles last season; makes chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (100/1 +33%) Master Breffni |
100/1(+33%) | (6) Master Breffni 100/1, Looked set to score in this sphere when coming down late on at Catterick in March and gained compensation over hurdles at this course (19.2f) next time. Looks up against it here, though. 0-4 over fences; won low-grade handicap hurdle here in March but faces tough task today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (14/1 +72%) Imaginary Dragon |
14/1(+72%) | (5) Imaginary Dragon 14/1, Fair hurdler who opened account at Kelso (22.7f) last December and backed that up with creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at Musselburgh (23.8f, good to soft) in February. Still low mileage but is another who would prefer a stiffer test of stamina. Makes chase debut. Fair hurdler who seems versatile regarding trip; makes chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (50/1 -355%) Figaroc |
50/1(-355%) | (2) Figaroc 50/1, Fairly-useful hurdler who posted best effort over fences when third in listed handicap at Gowran (16f) in March. Below that level thereafter but warrants respect on debut for new yard here. Useful hurdler/chaser at best for Willie Mullins; sold for £8,500 after modest run in May. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Stable debutant CALDWELL POTTER capped off a fine novice hurdling campaign with a Grade 1 victory in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival last year. Now under the tutelage of Paul Nicholls, he looks to have outstanding claims now tackling fences and is likely to prove a warm order. Figaroc rates as the biggest threat, with Grand Albert the pick of the remainder.
This sees the much anticipated chase debut of CALDWELL POTTER, who will start at prohibitive odds but should score with the minimum of fuss, barring mishaps. Figaroc may be the one to chase him home.
All eyes will be on Grade 1 novice hurdle winner CALDWELL POTTER, who joined his new connections for a huge sum in February.

1st (7) (15/8 -25%) Gamesters Guy |
15/8(-25%) | (7) Gamesters Guy 15/8, Made the ideal start with his stable going well when landing an 8-runner bumper at Uttoxeter and also ran out a ready winner here in April. Came within a short head of making a winning hurdles debut at Bangor in October, sure to have won had he jumped better. Bound to improve. Won two heavy-ground bumpers last season and went very close on hurdling debut in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (14/1 +30%) Robby |
14/1(+30%) | (8) Robby 14/1, Clovis Du Berlais horse. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Nells Son, stays 2¾m, and fair hurdler Amberose. Newcomers from yard are usually well prepared and he finished second of fourth in a course bumpers in April. bred to stay well and up in trip foe hurdles debut. Second of four behind Gamesters Guy in heavy-ground course bumper in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (50/1 -25%) Golden Point |
50/1(-25%) | (11) Golden Point 50/1, Modest in bumpers. Easy to back and might have needed the run after 8 months off when a remote fourth of 5 on her Perth hurdles debut in September. Made low-key start to hurdling career when well-held fourth at Perth in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (250/1 -150%) Diamond Mix |
250/1(-150%) | (5) Diamond Mix 250/1, No real impact in bumpers 7 months apart. Well beaten in both bumpers, the latter in May; can only be watched on this hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (18/1 -50%) Cahier's Den |
18/1(-50%) | (4) Cahier's Den 18/1, €5,500 3-y-o, £20,000 4-y-o, Idaho gelding. Dam, ran twice over hurdles, half-sister to fair hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 29f) Ballyadam Approach. Won second of 2 outings in Irish points in May and stuck to his task well when runner-up on hurdles bow at this venue (17.2f) 3 weeks ago. Irish point winner; second to short-odds rival here (2m1f) on last month's hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/6 +100%) Lieutenant Mayne |
4/6(+100%) | (2) Lieutenant Mayne 4/6, Dual-bumper winner who completed a straightforward task in uncomplicated fashion on hurdles debut at Naas 3 weeks ago. Plenty more to come so major claims despite a penalty. Dual bumper winner; cruised clear on recent hurdle debut at Naas; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (10/1 -25%) Chasingouttheblues |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Chasingouttheblues 10/1, £22,000 purchase having finished placed all 4 starts in Irish points. Improved plenty for stiffer test of stamina when making second hurdles start a winning one at Hexham 3 weeks ago (20.1f). More to come but no easy task under a penalty. Kept on well to win Hexham maiden last month; more is needed under penalty here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (300/1 -650%) Jolie Maresca |
300/1(-650%) | (12) Jolie Maresca 300/1, €42,000 3-y-o, £25,000 5-y-o, Spanish Moon mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Via Maresca. Dam fairly useful 2¼m hurdle winner. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (80/1 -60%) Whispering Dancer |
80/1(-60%) | (10) Whispering Dancer 80/1, €18,000 3-y-o, £3,500 5-y-o, Elusive Pimpernel gelding. Half-brother to temperamental but very smart hurdler/useful chaser Different Gravey. Beat sole other finisher when off the mark in points at the sixth attempt. Cost £3,500 after winning three-runner Irish point in March; tough task on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (300/1 -355%) Suloumar Dreamer |
300/1(-355%) | (9) Suloumar Dreamer 300/1, Third foal, dam modest/inconsistent 2½m-25f chase winner. Third foal from a low-grade chase winner; entitled to learn from this debut outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (300/1 -200%) Foreva Alfie |
300/1(-200%) | (6) Foreva Alfie 300/1, £7,000 3-y-o, sixth foal, half-brother to fairly useful chaser First Class Return (3m winner). Dam, maiden pointer, half-sister to useful hurdler (2m-2¼m winner) Steviemac out of 2m hurdle winner Native Gale. Hinted at ability in a bumper for Rose Dobbin in 2022. Fifth of seven in Sedgefield bumper in December 2022; not seen again since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LIEUTENANT MAYNE was most taking when making all on his hurdles bow at Naas last month, where his jumping proved a real asset. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to prevent the five-year-old from completing a brace and he edges the vote over Bangor runner-up Gamesters Guy. The Black Sam Bellamy gelding should relish this extended 2m3f distance and he isn't taken lightly. Penalised Hexham scorer Chasingouttheblues is noted too.
This should develop into a match between GAMESTERS GUY and Lieutenant Mayne. Both were talented enough to win a couple of bumpers and while the latter also won on hurdles debut, he must now concede 6 lb, which tilts the scales towards the former.
This looks tougher than the Naas maiden he won easily on last month's hurdling debut but LIEUTENANT MAYNE still makes strong appeal.

1st (12) (20/1 +20%) O'connell |
20/1(+20%) | (12) O'connell 20/1, Winning Irish pointer who got off the mark in handicap chase at Market Rasen a year ago. Made the frame next 4 starts before shaping as if needing comeback run here. Strong traveller who doesn't always find much off the bridle. A case can be made on last season's form and he may have needed his reappearance run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 +50%) Fortunate Man |
5/1(+50%) | (7) Fortunate Man 5/1, €210,000 buy after winning an Irish point in April and successful on 2 of his 3 completed starts over hurdles last season. Given a considerate chasing debut here on return and expected to leave that well behind in due course. Merely mid-division over 2m4f here on chase debut but a possible improver now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 -29%) Illico De Cotte |
9/2(-29%) | (3) Illico De Cotte 9/2, Irish point/maiden hurdle winner who showed much-improved form when making a winning chase bow here (26f) on return 5 weeks ago, forging clear. Can go on to better things as a chaser. Improved to win here on chase debut & this lightly raced 6yo could have lots more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +18%) Come On Teddy |
9/2(+18%) | (4) Come On Teddy 9/2, Not matched useful form of a 2021/22 season back from lengthy absence last term but went close back over fences at Exeter final start despite the trip being barely adequate. Starts the new campaign potentially well handicapped for new yard. Ran well when last seen and respected on first start for the up-and-coming Harry Derham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (12/1 -50%) Ned Tanner |
12/1(-50%) | (10) Ned Tanner 12/1, Dual winner at Kelso as a novice. Progress stalled last season but he shaped well at Kelso on return and is now 3 lb below last winning mark. Shaped as though he needed his reappearance; each-way contender off a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (66/1 -100%) Crosspark |
66/1(-100%) | (1) Crosspark 66/1, Been a cracking servant over the years and ended a long losing when landing a veterans' event at Huntingdon on return last season. Just touched off at Market Rasen next time before excuses at Newbury final start. However, rising 15 now and vulnerable to improvers. 14yo who made winning reappearance last season; no surprise to see a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/2 +8%) Jacks Parrot |
11/2(+8%) | (6) Jacks Parrot 11/2, Has improved since joining this yard, winning at Uttoxeter and Perth in April. Usual tongue tie left off on return but he's open to further improvement over fences. Won two in April and this half-brother to stable star Iroko is open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (33/1 -136%) Shighness |
33/1(-136%) | (9) Shighness 33/1, Consistent performer over hurdles and got off the mark at the fourth time of asking in this sphere in 4-runner Catterick handicap (25.2f, soft) in February. Ended campaign with good second at Wetherby so not taken lightly on return. Second at Wetherby in March when cheekpieces were added; might not be far away on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (9/2 +31%) Choosethenews |
9/2(+31%) | (2) Choosethenews 9/2, Point/hurdles winner who has made a bright start over fences, showing a likeable attitude when opening his account at Newcastle (20f, heavy) in April. Excellent second at Wetherby on return and should have more to offer still up in trip. Consistent across his five chase starts; goes up in trip today but won a point over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 -150%) Wasdell Dundalk |
25/1(-150%) | (5) Wasdell Dundalk 25/1, Done well since joining this yard, bagging a fifth success since last summer when landing 5-runner handicap chase over C&D in October. Denied another frame finish by a luckless exit here since and remains of interest. Won over C&D in October and bang in contention when falling two out here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (33/1 -230%) Busty Boy |
33/1(-230%) | (8) Busty Boy 33/1, Successful on 3 of his 4 starts in Irish points so no surprise he left hurdles form behind when making a winning chase debut at Kelso on return last season. Upped his game further when going close at Perth last 2 starts so warrants respect on return. Went close on final two outings in the spring; thereabouts if resuming where he left off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (40/1 -60%) Champ Royal |
40/1(-60%) | (11) Champ Royal 40/1, Much improved since joining Susan Corbett, scoring 4 times (at up to 25.3f) over hurdles last season. However, hasn't taken to chasing in 2 starts, including when last seen in May. Posted a hat-trick over hurdles last season but has something to prove in this discipline. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
An impressive winner over further on his chase debut here in October, ILLICO DE COTTE seemed to benefit from wind surgery over the summer and a 7lb rise for that success could prove lenient as he looks to go in again. The hat-trick seeking Jacks Parrot has done extremely well since joining new connections from France and he is a key player, along with Busty Boy, who has finished runner-up on his last three outings.
COME ON TEDDY starts the new campaign potentially well handicapped for his new yard so could be the answer. Illico de Cotte looked a natural when making a winning start over fences here on return and is the obvious threat, while the progressive Choosethenews should relish the step up in trip.
The 5yo JACKS PARROT is a half-brother to star stablemate Iroko and could have lots more left in the tank.

1st (6) (5/4 +44%) To Chase A Dream |
5/4(+44%) | (6) To Chase A Dream 5/4, Off the mark at Doncaster (19.4f) in March and picked up where he left off, back from 8-month absence, when taking 11-runner handicap hurdle at this course (17.2f, good to soft) 38 days ago. Raised 5 lb since but looks sure to go well again. Won over C&D on handicap/seasonal debut and every chance he'll continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (14/1 +13%) Hardy Du Seuil |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Hardy Du Seuil 14/1, Fairly useful 2m hurdles/chase winner at his best but ran poorly at Wincanton when last seen in April and has questions to answer on first start since. Pulled up/tailed off on last two runs in the spring but returns with trainer in fine form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (50/1 -150%) Rewired |
50/1(-150%) | (4) Rewired 50/1, Won 2m handicaps at Doncaster and Taunton last winter but below that level more recently, including on debut for new yard at Wetherby last month. Won two in a row last winter but he's hard to fancy on more recent evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (66/1 -100%) Hourless |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Hourless 66/1, Dual winner over hurdles last year. Back from 11 months off when unseating rider (looked to be coming to end of his tether) at this course 20 days ago and others hold more appeal. 1 lb out of the handicap. Just in front when unseating 3 out over C&D, having been headstrong; may be best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 -30%) Red Dirt Road |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Red Dirt Road 13/2, Won 2 of his 5 starts (at up to 16.7f) over hurdles and posted good second of 7 in handicap at Warwick (21f) when last seen 18 months ago. Returns on a fair mark and must enter calculations, particularly if the market speaks in his favour. Returns from a long layoff but he's on a good mark if retaining his ability; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (6/1 0%) Bertie's Ballet |
6/1(0%) | (7) Bertie's Ballet 6/1, Dual bumper scorer who reached a fairly useful level over hurdles last season, winning once from 5 starts having kept good company. Shaped much better than on return when third in Wetherby handicap (19.7f, good) last month and is 2 lb lower now. Respected. Promising novice last term; needs another step back in right direction but that's possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (5/1 +17%) Pembroke |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Pembroke 5/1, Useful novice chaser last term but form dipped towards the end of the season and he was unable to land a blow on return in this sphere at Ffos Las (15.8f, soft) 49 days ago. Others more convincing. Sixth in Welsh Champion Hurdle on reappearance and could improve for it; drops in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (10/3 -11%) Jackpot D'athou |
10/3(-11%) | (5) Jackpot D'athou 10/3, Bagged 2 of his first 3 starts over hurdles last term but came in last on his handicap debut at Ayr in April and made a disappointing return at Kempton last month. No surprise to see headgear reached for. Well beaten in both h'caps but perhaps cheekpieces will help him tap into earlier promise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
RED DIRT ROAD still looks like a handicapper with plenty of upside for connections and dropping back in trip may be a good move on his return. The seven-year-old gets the vote ahead of To Chase A Dream, who was a determined winner over C&D in October and aims to land the hat-trick on this occasion. Bertie's Ballet and Jackpot D'athou are not to be ruled out either.
Preference is for TO CHASE A DREAM, who has done little wrong in half a dozen starts over timber and remains feasibly treated. Bertie's Ballet and Red Dirt Road are feared most.
Topweight PEMBROKE is well handicapped on his chase form and could build upon his reappearance sixth in the Welsh Champion Hurdle.

1st (8) (40/1 -150%) Gipsy Lee Rose |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Gipsy Lee Rose 40/1, Hit the target twice last season, taking a small-field 2½m Newcastle handicap (heavy) in March. Easy to back and probably needed the run when pulled up at Hexham (24.2f) 3 weeks ago and significant step up required on that if she's to feature. Pulled up on reappearance but may have needed the run; won twice last term; not discounted. |

2nd (11) (14/1 +0%) Croagh Patrick |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Croagh Patrick 14/1, On a long losing run and hasn't showed enough in three starts since returning from a mid-summer break to make him of interest here. Blinkers back on in place of visor. Course winner who continues to tumble down the weights, but for good reason. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/3 +39%) Dusautior |
10/3(+39%) | (6) Dusautior 10/3, Won 3m novice handicap chase at Bangor in April and posted easily his best effort since when third of 13 in handicap chase at Ffos Las (23.8f, good to soft, 9/1) 21 days ago, challenging from 4 out and plugging on latter stages. One to consider on the back of that. Returned to form when third at Ffos Las three weeks ago and could build on that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (9/1 +36%) Gibberwell |
9/1(+36%) | (13) Gibberwell 9/1, Infrequent winner who ran creditably following 6 months off when third of 9 in handicap chase (12/1) at Hexham (24.2f, good to soft) 23 days ago. Needs to pull out more if he's to resume winning ways here, however. Hint of encouragement in his comeback run and he's well treated on last season's best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (6/1 +57%) Don Brocco |
6/1(+57%) | (9) Don Brocco 6/1, Dual winner over hurdles back in 2022. 0-10 and more miss than hit over fences last season but entitled to strip fitter for last month's reappearance effort over hurdles here (24.6f). Returns to chasing operating from career low mark. 0-10 over fences but on a competitive mark and holds each-way possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (10/1 -122%) Torosay |
10/1(-122%) | (4) Torosay 10/1, Showed ability over hurdles and really got the hang of things over fences during the spring, running out an emphatic winner at first crack at 3m at Hexham in April. 10 lb higher on return but she's totally unexposed over staying trips. Won by 13l at Hexham in April when last seen; in good hands to continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (14/1 -250%) Pawpaw |
14/1(-250%) | (7) Pawpaw 14/1, Unreliable sort but again put his best foot forward when resumed winning ways in 7-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (26f, good to soft) 23 days ago. Needs to back it up now up 6 lb. Very inconsistent this season but won at Fontwell last time with these cheekpieces back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (9/2 +68%) Toombridge |
9/2(+68%) | (10) Toombridge 9/2, Runner-up in an Irish point and posted his best run under Rules to date when third of 6 on handicap chase debut here (20.9f) in March. However, not scaled same heights in 3 subsequent outings, seventh of 12 in handicap at Ayr 4 weeks ago. Up in trip. Has course form and is on a reduced mark, but 0-11 and claims aren't overly compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (10/1 -100%) Clovis Boy |
10/1(-100%) | (2) Clovis Boy 10/1, Twice a winner over hurdles last season, doing well to run down a couple of more prominently-ridden ones in a falsely-run race at Newcastle final start. Must be respected now sent chasing for stable continuing amongst the winners. Two hurdle wins last term and trainer's horses frequently improve for the switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (9/1 +55%) Iturgeon Du Breuil |
9/1(+55%) | (12) Iturgeon Du Breuil 9/1, Placed on second of 2 starts in points. Improved on previous hurdles exploits when placed in pair of handicaps in the spring but hasn't kicked on subsequently. Switch to chasing needs to spark some improvement. 0-9 over hurdles; placed in a point; not out of the question that he'll improve for fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 +39%) Low Mileage |
20/1(+39%) | (5) Low Mileage 20/1, Fairly maiden chaser in Ireland but not shown much in 2 chase tries (8 months apart) for present stable, latterly when tenth of 15 in handicap chase at this course (20f, good to soft) 38 days ago. Has it to prove stepping back up in trip. Remains a maiden but may have needed latest run and this test of stamina may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (25/1 -25%) Uptown Harry |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Uptown Harry 25/1, Regular here who capitalised on falling mark over 24.5f in March. Hasn't scaled same heights either outing since, well-beaten on the back of 7 months off when thirteenth of 15 in handicap chase (50/1) at this course (20f) 38 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Inconsistent 10yo but last two wins have come here and he may leave reappearance behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (40/1 -186%) Hold The Note |
40/1(-186%) | (1) Hold The Note 40/1, Course winner who has a very patchy record, pulled up on 3 of last 4 starts, latterly at Perth (23.8f) in April. Reportedly returned lame then and he needs to hit the ground running returning from 7 months off. Good runs are scarce nowadays but he seems to like it here so is worth a second look. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Pawpaw warrants respect after regaining the winning thread at Fontwell last month. However, the seven-year-old is effectively 9lb higher in the ratings now that Caoilin Quinn has gone through his 3lb claim and chasing debutant CLOVIS BOY edges the vote. Lucinda Russell's charge capped off his novice hurdling campaign with a victory over an extended 2m7f at Newcastle and he looks just the type to relish this longer 3m2f distance. The selection's stablemate Torosay also merits consideration.
CLOVIS BOY ended last season with a career-best success over hurdles at Newcastle in the spring and, now going chasing with his yard firmly amongst the winners, he could be worth chancing to make the perfect start. Stablemate Torosay was another who ended last season on the up over fences and she's a threat. Dusautior and Pawpaw are others to consider.
A chance is taken on GIBBERWELL, who ran well for a long way on his return to action at Hexham and is on an attractive mark.

13/8(+64%) | (7) Maximum Offers 13/8, €40,000 3-y-o, £105,000 4-y-o, Getaway gelding. Half-brother to multiple jumps winner in USA Two's Company and useful hurdler/chaser Scorpion Sid. Sold for £105,000 after going very close in Irish maiden point; new trainer in fine form. |

4th (10) (4/1 -45%) Strolling Along |
4/1(-45%) | (10) Strolling Along 4/1, £115,000 3-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chase winner (stayed 2¾m) She Ranks Me. One to note based on connections. £115,000 3yo who has potential in his pedigree; from top yard and firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (17/2 +15%) Peckforton Hills |
17/2(+15%) | (9) Peckforton Hills 17/2, Youmzain gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/top-class chaser Ballyoisin. Worthy of respect on debut based on breeding, acknowledging he might need some time. In-form yard doesn't have many bumper runners but 6-19 record in such races catches eye. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 +12%) Bogleyburn |
22/1(+12%) | (3) Bogleyburn 22/1, Modest form in 2 bumpers this time last year, put in his place in a match over C&D when last seen 12 months ago. Has something to find. Has shown ability but he returns from an absence with improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (33/1 +34%) King Kodiak |
33/1(+34%) | (5) King Kodiak 33/1, Arctic Cosmos gelding. Dam unraced, from family of very smart 2m/2½m chaser The Outback Way. Likely to need time. 2,800euros foal; fifth foal; dam unraced; probably best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (200/1 -100%) Lord Fortescue |
200/1(-100%) | (6) Lord Fortescue 200/1, Related to a bumper winner but showed nothing on debut 7 months ago. Hard to fancy. Half-brother to two winners but he was tailed off at 50-1 on his debut at Perth in April. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Bespoke Tailor has filled the runner-up berth at Perth and then Ayr and Ewan Whillans' charge is forecast to give another good account. With that being said, there are some interesting newcomers on show and STROLLING ALONG tops the bill. The son of Walk In The Park was a 115,000-pound purchase and he could land this en route to better things. Point-to-pointers Big Bert and Maximum Offers are others to note.
MAXIMUM OFFERS fetched six figures after showing plenty between the flags and his new yard should have him sufficiently forward to go well here, so he's preferred to fellow ex-pointer Big Bert, with Strolling Along also appealing on paper.
The selective approach of the Greenall/Guerriero yard in bumpers has yielded a 32% strike-rate and PECKFORTON HILLS is the pick.
Ths is the racecard key.
