(6) Gypsey's Secret 12/1, Got off the mark aged 9 despite being 5 lb out of the handicap over this C&D (soft) in March. Followed that with a decent effort in defeat at Kelso the following month and she won't be without an each-way chance if fully tuned-up.
C&D winner two runs back and latest defeat was over 2m6f around Kelso.

(2) Keppel Queen 18/5, Shaped well on third hurdles start in a Warwick maiden and bettered that when runner-up with cheekpieces back on for her recent handicap bow at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft). Combination of the extra furlong and this stiff track are both positive factors where this 5-y-o is concerned. Big player.
2nd to an improver on h'cap debut and Benjamin Macey takes away 10lb this afternoon.

(3) Perculator 11/1, Returned to form with cheekpieces refitted when narrowly landing a 6-runner Wetherby handicap (21.2f, good) 18 days ago. However, she's up 4 lb and it's worth noting that she failed to build on her breakthrough success last season (also at Wetherby) in 4 subsequent starts during that campaign.
4lb rise for Wetherby (2m5f) is no big deal and he'll be fine over this longer distance.

(5) Adveram 4/1, Winless last term but proved consistent and deservedly opened his hurdles account on return at Ayr (19.5f, good to soft). 4 lb rise fair enough and moving back up in trip shouldn't be an issue, so he has to go on the shortlist. Yard also saddles Teddy Mac.
Up only 4lb for 2m3f win at Ayr and has shown that he stays 3m.

Ran a laboured race on his return to hurdles at Hexham when tried in a visor.

12:00 Carlisle Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

KEPPEL QUEEN benefited for both stepping up in trip and the reapplication of cheekpieces when runner-up on her handicap bow at Chepstow earlier in the month. She is likely to have more to offer for a stable in fine form at present. Adveram went up 4lb for his first career success at Ayr and poses an obvious threat, while others to consider include Gypsey's Secret and Topkapi Star.

The one with the most attractive profile is KEPPEL QUEEN, who took a sizeable step forward on her recent handicap debut at Chepstow and there should be better to come from this unexposed 5-y-o. The Ian Duncan-trained duo Adveram and Teddy Mac may emerge as the main dangers, while Gypsey's Secret could also have a part to play if fit enough to do herself justice back from a seven-month break.

The winner was a sharp improver when KEPPEL QUEEN (nap) ran her best race yet on handicap debut at Chepstow and she can go one better.

12:30 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Boomslang is likely to appreciate going back right-handed based on his recent second at Newcastle, where jumping in that direction may well have cost him the race. The vote, though, goes to LADY IN THE PARK. The six-year-old shaped with a fair amount of promise when fourth behind Dream Boy on her chasing debut at Wetherby and the manner of that performance, along with a 3lb pull in the weights with that winner, suggested that going up in trip would bring the best out of her.

BOOMSLANG should have made it 2-2 over fences at Newcastle but gave away a bit too much ground with his jumping and can resume winning ways back at a right-handed track. Lady In The Park shaped very well when ½-length behind Dream Boy at Wetherby on her return and rates a big threat back up in trip.

In an open race the vote goes to MOTION IN LIMINE who was second on his last two starts and returns to action having had wind surgery.

13:03 Carlisle Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Ira Hayes left behind his Rules debut effort at Listowel when getting off the mark in a Wexford bumper and is likely to prove popular on his first attempt over timber. However, the form of that contest doesn't appear to be particularly strong and MONTY BODKIN might be the one. The five-year-old bounced back from a below-par display when scoring at Doncaster in March and now debuts for a stable that have run some of their better prospects at this venue. Dazzlelikethis and Orkney Blue appeal most of the remainder.

IRA HAYES created a good impression when landing a bumper at Wexford recently and should have a good future over jumps. He gets the vote over the similarly promising Monty Bodkin, who won a Doncaster bumper for Ben Pauling when last seen in February. Orkney Blue also starts out for a new yard and boasts plenty of potential.

With little in the way of worthwhile hurdle form on offer, bumper winners Monty Bodkin and IRA HAYES are the two who appeal most.

13:33 Carlisle Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Dual bumper winner Dedicated Hero make considerable appeal now sent over hurdles, but it was hard not to be impressed by the manner in which KEVIN'S PRIDE won at Kilbeggan on debut. John McConnell's five-year-old has been given some time off since that triumph and appears to have been found a fine opportunity now tackling obstacles for the first time. Aboutdamntime's most recent start in the pointing sphere has worked out well so he must be of some interest too.

KEVIN'S PRIDE ran out of an impressive winner of a Kilbeggan bumper on his debut in August and is bred to be suited by this longer trip now going hurdling, so he's fancied to maintain his unbeaten record. Dedicated Hero is also an interesting recruit to this sphere based on his bumper exploits and is an obvious threat, with Rules-debutant Aboutdamntime another to note.

The suggestion is KEVIN'S PRIDE, who won easily at Kilbeggan and looks a likely type for hurdles.

14:05 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

FLIC OU VOYOU gained a well-deserved victory at Newcastle recently and, pitched into a veterans' contest for the first time, a 2lb rise ought to be no barrier to further success. It's been a while since the returning Marown last got his head in front, although he won't be far away, while Envious Editor faced a stiff task behind Arkle contender L'Eau Du Sud at Stratford last time out and has less on his plate here.

MAROWN is a long time without a win but has run well fresh in the past, so he gets the marginal vote over Flic Ou Voyou, who scored at Newcastle last time. Cornerstone Lad is also considered.

This vote goes to the well-handicapped MAROWN to win his first race since 2021 despite this trip being on the short side.

14:40 Carlisle Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 17f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

This might not be the deepest of novice hurdles and KOUKEO is fancied to come out on top. The O'Neills' four-year-old couldn't get involved in the Goffs Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival on debut before finding one too strong at Chepstow when starting out for his current team. The yard is in good form and the switch to hurdles looks certain to unlock improvement. Others to note include Epic West, Broderick and Bridge Court.

EPIC WEST has joined a good yard on the back of a point win in March and he's been found what appears an ideal starting point here, so he's fancied to make a successful Rules debut. Broderick can trouble him if improving from his hurdling debut and Prince of Perth should up his game facing a slightly stiffer test.

The lightly raced KOUKEO is taken to get off the mark on his jumps debut after his good second in a Chepstow bumper last month.

15:15 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A taking winner on his chase debut at Kelso last month, WALK ON QUEST is likely to have plenty more improvement off 5lb higher and dropping slightly in trip should not inconvenience either. Wind surgery seemed to have a positive effect on Fearless Action when runner-up at Catterick in February and he is a player on his return. Treaty Boy and Tommy Combats enter the equation too.

WALK ON QUEST got off to the perfect start over fences at Kelso and a 5 lb rise in the weights doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from following up. Chasing-newcomer Tommy Combats brings a fair bit of potential and could emerge as the chief danger ahead of Getaway Jewel and Geordies Dream.

With respect to bumper and hurdle winner Geordies Dream, this looks a good chance for WALK ON QUEST to make it 2-2 over fences.

15:49 Carlisle Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Turned out again quickly under a 7lb penalty after getting off the mark with a comfortable success over C&D last week, DISCO ANNIE has the potential to continue improving and she can land the double for her in-form connections. A determined winner over track and trip last month, Blue Fin must enter calculations, along with the consistent Coniston George and Bringbackmemories, who has paid his way on the Flat since he was last seen in this sphere.

Plenty with chances but it could pay to side with BRINGBACKMEMORIES to make a winning return to hurdling after an absence having been an improved dual winner on the Flat this autumn. Brian Hughes is also a significant booking in the saddle. Disco Annie rates a big threat though under a 7 lb penalty for her recent comfortable C&D victory. Blue Fin, The Navigator and Well Educated all need factoring into this highly competitive handicap too.

C&D winner CONISTON GEORGE acts on slow ground, goes well when fresh and he is taken to score
