(3) Nells Son 3/1, Useful novice hurdler (Grade 2 winner). This didn't go entirely to plan following a solid second on return/chase debut last autumn but he returns to action from what rates a good mark and he's worth a second look boasting a good record fresh.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Carlisle Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Land Genie has to be of interest after winning his sole bumper at Huntingdon in April and he is certainly one to watch here on his hurdling bow. That said, it might be worth giving SUPREMELY WEST another chance. The winner of three bumpers, he was sent off odds-on for his hurdling bow at Warwick when failing to jump with any fluency before finishing second, but he is sure to have been well-schooled since and may do better now. Titan Discovery and Fizzle Rock are others to watch in a race that could be full of future winners.

The vote goes to Irish-raider FIZZLE ROCK, who proved that her Sligo maiden success was no flash in the pan when finishing third in an 11-runner mares' handicap at Listowel last month. Dropping back in trip on this stiff track will, if anything, be in her favour and she will take some pegging back. Bumper-winner Land Genie is of strong interest now switched to hurdles and is feared most ahead of Supremely West and Titan Discovery.

The Irish mare Fizzle Rock has won in this sphere but could be vulnerable to Supremely West and LAND GENIE.

LTO Selection:

15:35 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Court Dreaming won this last year when landing the odds for favourite backers and races off the same mark. Although he has raced three times without success since, they have all been over hurdles and the return to fences might see him in a better light. However, WASDELL DUNDALK is hard to oppose after landing his hat-trick easily at Perth last month, with an added 6lb unlikely to stop a follow up victory. Guetapan Collonges, Ned Tanner and East Street could all have a say on their return to action.

GUETAPAN COLLONGES showed improved form last season, scoring in handicaps at Warwick and Uttoxeter, and he can make a winning return for the second successive campaign having been given a chance by the handicapper. There could still be more to come from Your Own Story as a stayer and he heads the list of dangers, ahead of Wasdell Dundalk.

The resurgent WASDELL DUNDALK remains on a good mark on his old form and is taken to make it four wins in a row.

16:10 Carlisle Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Burrows Hall deserves a second look as a C&D winner in April, but he is 4lb higher in the handicap now and the Sue Smith stable are yet to hit top gear. Vocal Duke could bounce back if the drop in class and first-time cheekpieces bring out the best in him, but KILBRAINY could be the one. An easy winner at Kelso over further on his return, he may get a fast run race to allow his stamina to kick in and as the only recent winner here, a good run seems on the cards.

KILBRAINY can race off the same mark as when an easy recent winner of a conditional jockeys' handicap at Kelso so is hard to oppose. Handicap-debutant Libertty Flame has better days ahead of him and appeals as the one to chase home Sandy Thomson's well-treated rival ahead of Ring of Beara and Milajess.

It is difficult to look beyond the recent Kelso scorer KILBRAINY (nap), who is due an 8lb rise but can compete here without a penalty.

16:45 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Massini Man bolted up by 11 lengths when last seen in January at Musselburgh, but that was over 3m, so this represents a big drop in distance, which opens the door for NETYWELL. The six-year-old was only denied by a neck over C&D in March and he was only raised 1lb for that effort, so he could take full advantage of this drop in class. Missed Tee is also of interest on her chase debut after undergoing wind surgery since last seen.

MASSINI MAN proved a different proposition after joining Sandy Thomson last season and, despite now being 8 lb higher than for his final win last term, he's fancied to enhance his positive record fresh. Missed Tee won 2 of her 4 starts over hurdles and is highly respected on chase debut, whilst Netywell was in good form in the spring and is also considered on his return.

Point winner MISSED TEE won two of her four hurdle starts last season and is taken to make a winning chase debut.

17:20 Carlisle NH Flat Race (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Cracking Rhapsody accounted for his nearest rival by just over a length on his second start under Rules at Perth and he is likely to put in a bold display in the attempt to carry a 7lb penalty to victory. However, preference is for GET A SUPERSTAR, who finished fourth at Tipperary in May before changing hands for 27,000 pounds, and the son of Getaway could make a winning start for the Dr Richard Newland stable. Any market confidence behind Rula Bula on her first outing would also be of interest.

TOMMYS LAW was runner-up on both starts between the flags and represents a stable that has enjoyed a fruitful start to the campaign, so he's preferred to fellow point recruit Iorangi de L'Isle, who should be ready to go. Cracking Rhapsody is the best of those with bumper experience.

Point winner IORANGI DE L'ISLE is taken to make a winning start for Donald McCain, with Tommys Law feared most.
