One Of Our Own ran down RAINBOW RAIN late on when scoring over this trip at Redcar last month, but Tracy Waggott's inmate could reverse that form. The gelded son of Acclamation has been knocking on the door of late and, with more progression likely, could be worth siding with. Fellow last-time-out winner Dream Deal is another to consider off 4lb higher.

RAINBOW RAIN was denied by only a neck by One of Our Own at Redcar last time and, on better terms, he's fancied to reverse form with that rival with a visor refitted. Dream Deal is another one to consider but the majority are out of sorts.

With Tom Eaves back in the saddle, the consistent RAINBOW RAIN is taken to turn the tables on his Redcar conqueror One Of Our Own.

Only denied by three-quarters of a length over this trip at Musselburgh last month, SERGEANT MAYER gets the nod in a contest lacking depth. The gelded son of Soldier's Call kept on well on that occasion and likely has more to offer, so he is taken to get the better of Lazareti, who makes her handicap debut following a fair run for third at Pontefract most recently. Space Ninja looks best of the rest.

SERGEANT MAYER was nicely clear of the rest when runner-up at Musselburgh last week and from the same mark he's the most persuasive option. Space Ninja also arrives on the back of a personal best and he heads the opposition, with Rock Lodge another to consider.

This looks a good opportunity for SERGEANT MAYER, who can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent Musseburgh nursery second

BIRDIE BOWERS took a big step forward when filling the runner-up spot over this trip at Beverley most recently and he is fancied to go one better off a 1lb raised mark. Sixcor kept on well to score on his latest outing and is feared most under a 5lb penalty, while Cavalier Approach is another recent winner not to be taken lightly off 5lb higher.

Ed Bethell has quickly found the key to CAVALIER APPROACH who can make light of a 5 lb rise with further progress on the cards for his new stable. Joe Fanning has a very good record on One Last Hug this year and Jim Goldie's 8-y-o can provide the chief threat ahead of last-time-out Beverley second Birdie Bowers.

Topweight CAVALIER APPROACH made a winning start for Ed Bethell at Hamilton a fortnight ago and is taken to make it 2-2 for the yard.

SILENT MOVE showed marked improvement from first to second start when an easy winner at Thirsk last time out, and Richard Fahey's charge is taken to follow up under a 7lb penalty. He is narrowly preferred to Apiarist, who was narrowly denied at the same track last month and should be open to further improvement. A full-brother to the Group-placed Persia, newcomer Love Safari could also have a say in proceedings.

VICTORY SHOUT left his debut form well behind when fourth in a fairly useful novice at Haydock last month and a repeat of that level may well suffice. Apiarist and Thirsk-winner Silent Move will ensure the selection doesn't have it all his own way.

Denied by a narrow margin over C&D last time out, SHAHNAZ deserves a change in luck and she can claim a first victory since August 2022 here. Gemma Tutty's charge is now 11lb lower than her last winning mark and should have too much for the likes of Merricourt, and Yeeeaah, who has been placed on three of his last four starts. Others to note include Gracelands Girl, Royal Prospect and Willing To Please.

This looks likely to be run at a good pace which could well play to the strengths of MERRICOURT. He's been shaping up respectably in recent outings and, operating on a workable mark, he could well be ready to strike for his in-form yard. Yeeeaah and Royal Prospect head up the dangers, with Shahnaz another who can't be discounted from her much-reduced mark.

The smooth-travelling ROYAL PROSPECT (nap) was an eyecatcher at Newcastle last time, so earns the vote at a track which suits.

IMPERIAL QUARTER made a pleasing start to her career when beaten just over two lengths over 1m at Newmarket and this looks like a good opportunity to get her head in front. Roger Varian's charge shaped as if this extra yardage should suit on that occasion and she could be hard to beat. The two debutants Man Of Monaco and Wadacre Maximus can also feature.

IMPERIAL QUARTER showed more than enough on debut to think she can win what looks a weak race unless one of the Johnston-trained newcomers is ready to go. Kintaro is quite closely matched with the selection in form terms but lacks her potential.

MARBUZET has racked up a sequence of placed efforts of late and he appears sure to run his race once again. The four-year-old is off the same mark as his third over 2m at Ripon last time and this drop in trip looks to be a positive. Oh So Chic also commands respect after a good second over 2m at Catterick last month, but she needs to defy a 1lb rise in the ratings, while The Navigator could be on a dangerous mark.

THE NAVIGATOR had little chance from his position well off the pace at Catterick last time and might be worth chancing from his reduced mark at a track which has often brought the best out of him on the Flat. The reliable Marbuzet should figure prominently again, while John Berry's Merrijig is less exposed than a lot of these and didn't fare too badly on last month's Newmarket handicap debut.

A few with chances but the vote goes to Tim Easterby's MARBUZET who is proving very reliable and can gain a deserved first win of 2023
