1st (3) (5/2 -11%) My Genghis |
5/2(-11%) | (3) My Genghis 5/2, 3/1 and blinkered for first time, won 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 42 days ago. Retains handicap scope up 2 lb. Blinkered first time when finally winning a handicap six weeks ago on latest start, on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 +0%) Marcus |
6/1(+0%) | (4) Marcus 6/1, 22/1, bit below form sixth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 9 days ago. Placed previous 3 starts so capable of bouncing back. 0-13 but three seconds and he's been banging at the door on turf and AW this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (25/1 -56%) Lady Nagin |
25/1(-56%) | (2) Lady Nagin 25/1, Latest win at Lingfield in May. Seventh of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford (5f, 66/1) 28 days ago, making little impression on first start following a break. AW win in May; unraced on softer than good, with vast majority of her races on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/11 +17%) Tommytwohoots |
10/11(+17%) | (5) Tommytwohoots 10/11, 28/1, improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, heavy) 8 days ago, keeping on well. Leading claims given he escapes a penalty for that apprentice win. Won well off this mark in apprentice event at Nottingham (6f, heavy) eight days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 +27%) Chiedozie |
8/1(+27%) | (1) Chiedozie 8/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Last of 11 in handicap (33/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 3 days ago. Bounce back called for. 0-16 but it's easy to give her a chance on form; last of 11 on AW three days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
First-time blinkers seemed to provide the missing ingredient for MY GENGHIS when he kept on well to score over 6f at Wolverhampton and, with excellent apprentice Jack Doughty retaining the ride, a 2lb higher mark might not be enough to prevent the five-year-old from following up. Tommytwohoots, who is 6lb well-in after his surprise heavy-ground success at Nottingham, is feared most, with the well-handicapped Lady Nagin also a key player.
TOMMYTWOHOOTS escapes a penalty for last week's convincing Nottingham win so his follow-up claims appear to be bright. Fellow last-time-out winner My Genghis is the obvious danger, though Marcus is likely to bounce back from a rare poor run at Southwell.
His overall record is too inconsistent for comfort but TOMMYTWOHOOTS showed again last week how well he can go on heavy ground.

5/2(+17%) | (2) Mini Mac 5/2, Foaled March 24. 28,000 gns yearling, 21,000 gns 2-y-o, Dark Angel gelding. Dam, ran twice, closely related to smart winner up to 7f Saint Lawrence. Displayed plenty of ability amidst greenness when third of 7 at Bath a week ago. Sure to improve. Promising third at Bath (behind Rory Rocket) despite getting loose before the start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/4 +58%) Pickering Castle |
5/4(+58%) | (3) Pickering Castle 5/4, Low-key debut but much more like it when third of 13 in novice at Chelmsford City (7f) 19 days ago, staying on well despite still looking in need of the experience. That just about sets the standard. Latest run gives him strong form claims provided he can deal with this shorter trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 +9%) Jersey Maverick |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Jersey Maverick 5/1, Shaped better the result when when fifth of 9 in novice at Kempton (6f, 14/1) 27 days ago, not knocked about. Capable of better. Saddle slipping early was no help last time but his two previous runs were nothing special. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (25/1 -108%) Tara Road |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Tara Road 25/1, Promising debut but in danger of going the wrong way, eighth of 11 in maiden (10/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Hasn't progressed from her respectable debut when beaten under 2l at Wolverhampton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (5/1 +64%) Evanka |
5/1(+64%) | (7) Evanka 5/1, Produced best effort to date when fifth of 14 in maiden at Chelmsford City (6f, 16/1) 7 days ago. All three runs on the AW, showing more last week at Chelmsford when fifth of 14. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
RORY ROCKET showed promise to finish second on both of his previous starts and having already proven himself capable of handling cut in the ground, the son of Aclaim is presented with a decent chance of coming out on top. Mini Mac was a length and a half behind the selection in third at Bath last week and, entitled to be wiser, can make his presence felt. Pickering Castle is another going the right way and also warrants consideration.
MINI MAC's debut wasn't devoid of promise and sure to know more this time, he might find the necessary improvement to see off the likes of Pickering Castle and Rory Rocket.
Given the heavy conditions and when bearing in mind he got loose before the start, MINI MAC made a positive debut at Bath.

8th (10) (250/1 0%) Rue D'etoile |
250/1(0%) | (10) Rue D'etoile 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. Blinkered for first time, last of 8 in novice at Salisbury (8f, good to soft, 200/1) 14 days ago. Cheekpieces now tried. Has finished last in both his races at mammoth odds; cheekpieces replace blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (250/1 -25%) Demesne Boy |
250/1(-25%) | (7) Demesne Boy 250/1, 250/1, eleventh of 12 in novice at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 10 days ago. Right out the back in 7f races here and at Wolverhampton; will need low-grade handicaps. |

10th (4) (10/1 +0%) Pure Tenacity |
10/1(+0%) | (4) Pure Tenacity 10/1, Foaled April 8. 26,000 gns yearling, 55,000 gns 2-y-o, Sea The Moon gelding. Half-brother to 5f winner Carry On Aitch and 7f winner Viridian. Dam, maiden (stayed 1m), half-sister to useful 1m winner (stayed 1¼m) Oh Goodness Me. 55,000gns breeze-up buy; half-brother to two winners at an ordinary level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SUPER MIRAGE impressed, despite running green, when he made a winning debut at Bath and a penalty is unlikely to cause too many issues as this potentially useful son of Arizona bids to follow up. Something of a surprise winner at Yarmouth, Far From Dandy was still eyecatching enough to suggest he can also be a player here. Great David and Bear Island appeal most of the rest with experience, while Pure Tenacity is an interesting newcomer.
FAR FROM DANDY clearly derived plenty from his debut when a ready winner at Yarmouth a month ago, value for extra to boot, and on that evidence, he's up to defying a penalty. Super Mirage was also well on top when successful at Bath so he must be considered a threat, with Great David another to note.
The ground is a grey area for GREAT DAVID but the same is true for a few in here and the selection should really have won at Bath.

4th (11) (11/2 -10%) On Song |
11/2(-10%) | (11) On Song 11/2, Course winner in August. 9/2, fair fifth of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm) 28 days ago. Looks competitive on form. His two best runs have come at this track including on soft; dangerous back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (4/1 +20%) Ardbraccan |
4/1(+20%) | (1) Ardbraccan 4/1, Winless since his reappearance but he arrives in good nick, fourth of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) 8 days ago, slowly away. Can go very well at these weights. Generally consistent since her soft-ground win in May; not ruled out dropped back in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (4/1 +11%) Escape Act |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Escape Act 4/1, Winner at Doncaster in July. 9/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Epsom (8.5f, soft) 18 days ago, not ideally placed. Ought to be in the shake-up. Still unexposed in handicaps and has possibilities on this drop back in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (9/1 -38%) Darvel |
9/1(-38%) | (10) Darvel 9/1, Latest win at Bath in April. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap (22/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 37 days ago. Took this in 2022 so can give another good account. Won this on soft in 2022; on workable mark and he could be a big factor back at this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (50/1 -100%) Miggy Magic |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Miggy Magic 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Thirteenth of 18 in handicap (50/1) at York (7f, soft) 6 days ago. Has work to do. Still lightly raced but he struggled on soft at York last week and is untried at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (125/1 -213%) Ocean Odyssey |
125/1(-213%) | (12) Ocean Odyssey 125/1, Ninth of 12 in handicap (150/1) at Kempton (11f) 15 days ago. Back down in trip with more needed. Regressive maiden who has struggled in his three handicaps; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (33/1 -313%) The Smiling Wolf |
33/1(-313%) | (9) The Smiling Wolf 33/1, Last of 7 in handicap (5/2) at Ffos Las (8f, heavy) 64 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Jack Channon with more required in first-time cheekpieces. Out of sorts this season and has plenty to prove for new yard; first-time cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (11/1 -10%) Beau Gars |
11/1(-10%) | (2) Beau Gars 11/1, Winner at Ffos Las in August. 8/1, last of 10 in handicap at Bath (8f, good to firm) 32 days ago so needs to get back on track. Won back from a break at Ffos Las in August but he flopped over C&D last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ESCAPE ACT has been competing in higher-grade handicaps than this since scoring on soft going at Doncaster in July. He remains relatively unexposed and a bold bid is anticipated from the son of Mehmas back at this level. Ardbraccan has more to find off his current mark, but could still have a say in the outcome returning to this lower grade. On Song tends to save his best for this track, although his success here in August came over a shorter trip.
Lots with chances but ARDBRACCAN rates the pick at these weights and is taken to gain a deserved success. Darvel captured this prize in 2022 and seems sure to go well once more, while On Song and Profit And Loss need considering too.
It might be worth siding with DARVEL, who won this race in 2022 and is only 1lb higher than for for success at Bath this spring.

2nd (3) ( ) Chourmo |
() | (3) Chourmo , 3-time C&D winner. 3 wins from 13 runs this year. Latest win here in August. Respectable seventh of 13 in handicap at Bath (8f, soft, 11/1) 16 days ago. Back up in trip and considered. Three C&D wins on good or faster this year but he was well held on soft ground last time. |

3rd (8) ( ) Irezumi |
() | (8) Irezumi , C&D winner. Only eighth of 10 to Fullforward in handicap (5/1) at this course (11.9f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Needs a couple of these to falter. Won over C&D in August but was laboured here last week and he's now 1-25. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ( ) Fullforward |
() | (5) Fullforward , Won 10-runner handicap at this course (11.9f, good to soft, 13/2) 9 days ago, just holding on. Very much in the mix under a 5 lb penalty. Ended a lengthy losing run here last week; has a penalty but he's respected back in trip. |

5th (6) ( ) Little Tiger |
() | (6) Little Tiger , 2 wins from 4 runs this year, scoring readily in 10-runner handicap at this C&D (good to soft) 9 days ago. Big shout under a 5 lb penalty. Has won his last two including a 7l success over C&D last week; 6lb well in under penalty. |

8th (1) ( ) Dubai Immo |
() | (1) Dubai Immo , Latest win at Wolverhampton in July. 100/1, first run since leaving William Stone when last of 9 in handicap at Sandown (10f, good) 48 days ago. Others more persuasive. 0-8 on turf and was tailed off on stable debut at Sandown in August; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ( ) Sheila Tequila |
() | (9) Sheila Tequila , Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. 28/1, below form seventh of 12 in juvenile hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f, good) 8 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Seven-race maiden under both codes and has plenty to prove back in this sphere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A winner at Leicester in July, LITTLE TIGER followed that success with a decisive victory over C&D on last week's return to action. He is penalised for that, but is due to be raised a further 6lb in the future and the hat-trick beckons for William Stone's inmate. Fighting Poet usually goes well here, although he was no match for the selection last time and Fullforward may pose a bigger threat, despite a 5lb penalty for his recent triumph over 1m4f here.
LITTLE TIGER ran out a comfortable victor over C&D last week and a 5 lb penalty doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from bagging a third success of 2024. Chourmo is always to be feared round here and is next on the list with course scorers Fullforward and Fighting Poet also shortlisted.
This can go to the progressive 4yo LITTLE TIGER, who won by 7l over C&D last week and is 6lb well in under a penalty.

1st (2) (10/3 +17%) Otago |
10/3(+17%) | (2) Otago 10/3, 4-time C&D winner. Latest win here in September. 9/1, only eighth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (good) 30 days ago but last year's victor must still enter calculations. Won this last year and was successful over C&D on his penultimate run; respected. |

2nd (6) (9/1 +25%) River Wharfe |
9/1(+25%) | (6) River Wharfe 9/1, 3-time C&D winner. Latest win here in August. 10/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at this course (8f, good) 58 days ago but the sort to bounce back. Two C&D wins this season but he's not easy to to predict and is suited by fast ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (2/1 +83%) Ceilidh |
2/1(+83%) | (7) Ceilidh 2/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap (8/1) at this course (9.9f, good to soft) 9 days ago, unsuited by step up in trip. Significantly back down in trip with blinkers back on. Possibilities. On reduced mark but losing run is mounting up and was tailed off here last time. |

4th (1) (7/2 +53%) Maxzeno |
7/2(+53%) | (1) Maxzeno 7/2, Last of 5 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, good to firm, 5/1) 73 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Chance if rediscovering old form. On dangerous mark but he's 0-14 and was disappointing last time; tongue-tie reapplied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 -64%) Voodoo Ray |
9/1(-64%) | (3) Voodoo Ray 9/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this year. Fourth of 5 in handicap at this course (5.3f, soft, 7/2) 38 days ago. Significantly up in trip now though so can get back on track. Four-time course winner but he's generally struggled since May and soft ground is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (66/1 +34%) Gaazooo |
66/1(+34%) | (8) Gaazooo 66/1, Ninth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, good, 150/1) 9 days ago. Poor on last Flat outing so others appeal more. 19-race maiden who has struggled under both codes this year and he can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (7/1 -27%) Rogue Rosie |
7/1(-27%) | (5) Rogue Rosie 7/1, Creditable third of 5 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good to firm, 7/1) 44 days ago. Needs considering. 0-13 but she's gone close at Chepstow last twice and is respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
OTAGO wasn't at his best last time but the son of Cable Bay, a multiple C&D winner, is expected to bounce back. Jim Boyle's gelding landed the corresponding event off 1lb higher 12 months ago and, with conditions to suit, this looks a winnable opportunity. Romanovich remains in good form but does have a bit to prove on ground as testing as this is likely to be, so Voodoo Ray could be the bigger threat.
ROMANOVICH is enjoying a very good season and taken to garner a fourth victory on the back of his very good recent second here. Otago is feared most in his bid to follow up his success of 12 months ago with Ceilidh and Voodoo Ray in the picture too.
Preference is for ROMANOVICH (nap), who has won two of his last five runs and found more progress when a close second here last time.

10/1(-186%) | (3) Fai Fai 10/1, Latest win at Salisbury in July. 9/2, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 15 days ago. Merits consideration once more. Not running badly but has no worthwhile soft-ground form in the book. |

15/2(-150%) | (4) Tomorrow Day 15/2, 16/5, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Newcastle (6f) 35 days ago. Needs considering nudged up 1 lb. Saw out the stiff 6f at Newcastle (AW) to prevail in a tight finish. |

5th (6) (9/2 +44%) Dequinto |
9/2(+44%) | (6) Dequinto 9/2, Remains a maiden after 16 runs but he recorded a creditable fifth of 10 in handicap (11/1) at Chelmsford City (7f) 28 days ago. Not ruled out. Mostly consistent this year and 6f looks his best trip; ran over 7f last time. |

100/1(+33%) | (8) Captain Red Blazer 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time when only sixth of 8 in handicap (150/1) at Bath (5f, heavy) 7 days ago. Others appeal more. Quiet handicap debut; official rating of 10 so he's 35lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A chance can be taken on PORFIN, who finds himself on a workable mark following a handful of below-par efforts on the all-weather. Softening ground conditions should be no barrier to success and, in a race lacking much depth, he could represent some value. World Of Darcy seems to have turned a corner and merits the utmost respect having recorded a comfortable success at Windsor on Monday. That said, a 12lb penalty will undoubtedly make things tougher. Newcastle scorer Tomorrow Day heads the remainder.
WORLD OF DARCY has a 12 lb penalty to overcome but arrives in rare form so is fancied to rattle off his hat-trick at the chief expense of Fai Fai who rates next best at these weights. Newcastle victor Tomorrow Day and C&D winner Porfin also merit plenty of respect in the battle for minor honours.
After a spiralling fall from grace WORLD OF DARCY has got his mojo back and clearly loves this ground.
Ths is the racecard key.
