1st (1) (1.2/1 +31%) Uncle Dick |
1.2/1(+31%) | (1) Uncle Dick 1.2/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in August. 10/3, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Salisbury (8f, good to firm) 4 days ago, running on. Claims. Won over C&D last month and was a clear third at Salisbury last week; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2.5/1 -11%) Buy The Dip |
2.5/1(-11%) | (5) Buy The Dip 2.5/1, Winner at Lingfield in June. Creditable third of 7 in handicap (3/1) at this C&D (good) 8 days ago. Can go well again. Placed in his last three runs including a rallying third over C&D last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 +14%) Free Step |
6/1(+14%) | (2) Free Step 6/1, Latest win at Yarmouth in May. Creditable 2 lengths fifth of 9 to Uncle Dick in handicap at this C&D (good, 5/1) 21 days ago, running on. In the mix. Won on her seasonal/stable debut in May but has not gone on from that; needs to find more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +11%) Coloane |
4/1(+11%) | (3) Coloane 4/1, Still a maiden but not disgraced when fourth of 12 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good) 24 days ago. Player off a 2 lb lower mark. 0-13 but she's a consistent type who has possibilities back in a Class 6 event. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
UNCLE DICK did well to finish third at Salisbury on Thursday. The winner, who made all, kicked clear from an early stage and, having been anchored in rear, it was to his credit that Eve Johnson Houghton's gelding was able to get to within a length and a half. He was successful over C&D prior to that and the return can help him regain the winning thread. Coloane drops in class and ought to be capable of playing a leading role, along with the consistent Buy The Dip.
None of these can be ruled out but COLOANE can capitalise on a handy mark now and gain a deserved first success. In-form pair Free Step and Uncle Dick both bring solid credentials to the table and can chase home William Jarvis' filly in that order.
This looks a bit trappy but last month's C&D winner UNCLE DICK gets the vote ahead of Buy The Dip and Coloane.

1st (3) (0.5/1 +25%) Miguel |
0.5/1(+25%) | (3) Miguel 0.5/1, Twice-raced colt. Third of 13 in maiden at Chepstow (7.1f, good, 10/3) 14 days ago. Presented with a good opportunity to make it third time lucky. Sets clear standard on his third at Chepstow last time and he's open to more progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4.5/1 +31%) Happy Place |
4.5/1(+31%) | (6) Happy Place 4.5/1, Once-raced filly. 11/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at Epsom (7f, good to firm) on debut 24 days ago, not knocked about. It would be no surprise to see her step up on that effort here. Never involved at Epsom last month and she needs major improvement on her second start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (18/1 -50%) Compton Bay |
18/1(-50%) | (2) Compton Bay 18/1, Twice-raced colt. Hooded for 1st time, tenth of 13 in maiden (6/1) at Chepstow (7.1f, good) 14 days ago. Probably more one for handicaps in due course. Some promise at Epsom but he was disappointing at Chepstow last time; headgear removed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/1 -67%) Gregorina |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Gregorina 10/1, Foaled May 6. 19,000 gns 2-y-o. Sister to 6f winner Loch Carron and half-sister to 3 winners, including useful 1m/9f winner Glenall and 2-y-o 5f/6f winner Glenkitt. Slight concern that she's hooded for this debut but one to note in the betting nonetheless with Oisin Murphy booked. Sister to a fair 6f winner; wears hood on debut and market should guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 -64%) Medician Star |
9/1(-64%) | (1) Medician Star 9/1, Foaled January 12. 28,000 gns yearling, Galileo Gold colt. Dam 2-y-o 6f winner. Yard's newcomers typically come on for a run but he needs a close look in the betting all the same. Quite a lot to like on paper and he needs watching in market on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (125/1 -400%) Majolica |
125/1(-400%) | (7) Majolica 125/1, Twice-raced filly. 16/1, last of 10 in maiden at Lingfield (7f, AW) 12 days ago, slowly away. In good hands but she's another who may be seen in a better light when going down the handicap route. Has struggled in both her runs and needs a transformation on this switch to turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (125/1 -150%) Something To Do |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Something To Do 125/1, Twice-raced colt. 100/1, last of 11 in minor event at Windsor (6f, good) 28 days ago. Big step forward needed. Has good pedigree but he finished a tailed-off last in two sprint events last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having hit the frame on both of his starts, Jack Channon would appear to have found MIGUEL the ideal opportunity to open his account. The Phoenix Of Spain colt is preferred to Happy Place, whose Epsom debut was not without promise. Peter Chapple-Hyam has been ticking along nicely this campaign, and any market support for his newcomer Gregorina would make her of interest.
Having shaped well in a couple of Chepstow maidens, MIGUEL is very much the one to beat. Newcomers Medician Star and Gregorina both make some appeal on paper and it will be interesting to see how they shape up in the betting, while Happy Place's debut effort at Epsom was not devoid of promise and she shouldn't be far away.
This looks a good opportunity for MIGUEL, who sets a clear standard on his latest third at Chepstow and is open to more progress.

1st (3) (0.91/1 +9%) Line Of Fire |
0.91/1(+9%) | (3) Line Of Fire 0.91/1, 5/2, very good second of 6 in nursery at this C&D (good) 8 days ago. Big chance if able to at least repeat that effort now equipped with blinkers. Ran best race so far when runner-up in C&D nursery last time; big player with hood added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/1 -9%) Birkie Boy |
6/1(-9%) | (7) Birkie Boy 6/1, 17/2, good third of 6 in nursery at this C&D (good) 8 days ago. Starting to look pretty exposed but reproduction of that should see him on the premises. 0-8 and he was behind Line Of Fire over C&D last time; needs to find more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 +45%) Dadas Boy |
6/1(+45%) | (4) Dadas Boy 6/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, eleventh of 13 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 28 days ago. Hard to warm to on this handicap debut. Struggled in maiden/novice events and he needs to do much better on this nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (16/1 +0%) Tenyatta |
16/1(+0%) | (2) Tenyatta 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 12/1, last of 10 in nursery at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) 42 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Has struggled in her last three runs including a Ffos Las nursery; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4.5/1 -29%) Mist Of Lir |
4.5/1(-29%) | (6) Mist Of Lir 4.5/1, 9/1, good fifth of 10 in nursery at Chelmsford City (7f) 9 days ago. Blinkers back on and likely to be involved in the finish. 0-10 but wasn't beaten far at Chelmsford last time and could make a bold bid back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (18/1 -29%) Someone Like You |
18/1(-29%) | (1) Someone Like You 18/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, seventh of 9 in minor event at Chelmsford City (6f) 9 days ago. Makes handicap debut and needs to raise her game considerably. Well held at big prices in her three runs and needs a transformation on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (25/1 -108%) Forest Guest |
25/1(-108%) | (5) Forest Guest 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in maiden (125/1) at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) 10 days ago, slowly away. Another who needs to take a sizeable step forward now pitched into a handicap. Out the back in three 6f events and he needs major improvement on his nursery debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A little over a length separated Line Of Fire (second) and Birkie Boy (third) when the pair met over C&D eight days ago and the former, who could find more for the addition of first-time blinkers, is taken to uphold the form. However, a chance is taken on DADAS BOY. David Loughnane's youngster showed precious little across his three qualifying runs, but the son of Invincible Army is related to a trio of winners and could improve for the switch to nurseries.
LINE OF FIRE finished strongly when runner-up over C&D recently and, if able to get into a better position in the early stages this time, she could easily go one better off the same mark with first-time blinkers enlisted. Mist of Lir and Birkie Boy both look rather exposed but showed enough on their latest starts to suggest that they should have parts to play.
It is hard to get away from LINE OF FIRE (nap), who was runner-up over C&D last time and did clear best of the closers in that race.

1st (6) (5.5/1 +45%) Dee's Dream |
5.5/1(+45%) | (6) Dee's Dream 5.5/1, 12/1 and hooded for 1st time, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to firm) 32 days ago. In the mix. 12-race maiden who was beaten 5l at Haydock last time and she needs to find more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1.88/1 +16%) Control |
1.88/1(+16%) | (1) Control 1.88/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. 16/5 and visored for 1st time, good second of 9 in handicap at this course (9.9f, good) 7 days ago. Blinkers back on and merits serious consideration. Went very close here (1m2f) last week and has leading claims if she can repeat that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (7/1 +22%) Seraphia |
7/1(+22%) | (9) Seraphia 7/1, 15/2, creditable sixth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 11 days ago. Considered. Nine-race maiden who has been well held in her last four handicaps; unconvincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (1.62/1 +41%) Storm Valley |
1.62/1(+41%) | (2) Storm Valley 1.62/1, Fifth of 6 in handicap (5/2) at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) 16 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Merits consideration. Mark is falling but she's 0-7 and needs to find some extra spark to make an impact here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 -20%) Temur Khan |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Temur Khan 12/1, 3-time C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Last of 9 in handicap at Bath (14f, good, 9/1) 11 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Well treated on his two C&D wins last summer but he needs a major revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (50/1 +0%) Sundowner |
50/1(+0%) | (8) Sundowner 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Only fifth of 7 in handicap (14/1) at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm) 77 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Eve Johnson Houghton. Not easy to make a case for. Still lightly raced but she needs a transformation at new trip for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (20/1 +0%) La Espanola |
20/1(+0%) | (5) La Espanola 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/1, last of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good) 61 days ago so needs to get back on track. Still lightly raced but she was tailed off last time and comes with risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (125/1 -56%) Last Roar |
125/1(-56%) | (7) Last Roar 125/1, Ninth of 10 in minor event at this course (9.9f, good, 66/1) 33 days ago. Others appeal more. Unplaced at big prices in all nine starts and was tailed off here last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The key to this race could be last week's clash here between CONTROL (second) and No Diggity (third), and John Butler's filly is taken to come out on top again, especially with the step up from 1m2f expected to suit. She can get off the mark at the 18th time of asking, with the unexposed Storm Valley looking best placed to chase them home.
CONTROL just failed here a week ago but can gain compensation off an unchanged mark and finally shed her maiden tag. Storm Valley wasn't seen to best effect when fifth at Windsor last time and rates the chief threat ahead of C&D scorer No Diggity and Yarmouth-third Dee's Dream.
John Butler's CONTROL had a near-miss over 1m2f here last Monday and has strong claims if she can repeat that form back up in trip.

1st (4) (10/1 -11%) Shalfa |
10/1(-11%) | (4) Shalfa 10/1, Course winner. 11/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap at Windsor (10f, good to firm) 7 days ago but sort to bounce back. Just one win from 17 starts and has mixed record since that success; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1.88/1 +37%) Swing To The Stars |
1.88/1(+37%) | (3) Swing To The Stars 1.88/1, Good third of 11 in handicap at Epsom (10.1f, good to firm, 5/2) 24 days ago, left poorly placed. One to consider. 0-7 but she was an eyecatching third against a pace bias at Epsom last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3.5/1 -5%) Kodiman |
3.5/1(-5%) | (2) Kodiman 3.5/1, 7/1, unlucky third of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 9 days ago, running on having been denied a clear passage on the home turn. Expected to be bang there off the same mark. Eight-race maiden but he didn't get much luck when third at Chelmsford latest; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 +9%) Mogwai |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Mogwai 5/1, Good second of 11 in handicap (11/1) at Leicester (10f, good) 53 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. 0-8 but she's finished runner-up in 1m2f handicaps (good) in last two starts; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4.5/1 +10%) Lucidity |
4.5/1(+10%) | (5) Lucidity 4.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/8, respectable second of 5 in handicap at this C&D (good) 69 days ago, needing stiffer test. Not ruled out. Placed behind major improvers in her two handicaps this summer and she still has potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (8/1 -100%) Reflex |
8/1(-100%) | (6) Reflex 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 2/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 27 days ago. Back up in trip and in the mix. Rallied well when third at Newcastle last time and he's respected back up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The Charlie Fellowes stable can do little wrong at present and this looks like an ideal opportunity for REFLEX to get off the mark, having been placed on his last two starts over shorter. The step up in trip is a major plus and he can see off the likes of recent Chelmsford third Kodiman and Mogwai, who has been runner-up on her last two outings.
A case can be made for all of these but the most persuasive one is for KODIMAN who didn't enjoy the rub of the green when third at Chelmsford City and can gain compensation off an unchanged mark. Swing To The Stars also wasn't seen to best effect when third at Epsom last time and can have a say too, with Mogwai and Shalfa also considered.
This looks a tight contest but Ed Dunlop's lightly raced filly LUCIDITY gets the vote ahead of Swing To The Stars.

1.25/1(+34%) | (1) Secret Handsheikh 1.25/1, C&D winner. 2/1, second of 4 in handicap at this C&D (good) 7 days ago, finishing with running left. Bold show anticipated off the same mark. 5yo who went close over C&D last Monday and is a big player if he can back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (16/1 +36%) Street Parade |
16/1(+36%) | (6) Street Parade 16/1, C&D winner. Eighth of 10 in handicap (18/1) at Chelmsford City (6f) 18 days ago. Clearly going through a quiet spell and revival needed. Well treated on his best 2022 form but he's been out of sorts this season; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 -20%) Imperiousity |
3/1(-20%) | (4) Imperiousity 3/1, 9/2, career best when winning 5-runner handicap at Salisbury (5f, soft) 10 days ago, pushed out. 3 lb rise fair enough and he needs considering. Recorded his second win when finishing well at Salisbury last time; respected up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4.5/1 +25%) Lethal Angel |
4.5/1(+25%) | (5) Lethal Angel 4.5/1, Three-time C&D winner. 15/2, fourth of 6 in handicap at this course (6f, good) 7 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Her last three wins have come over C&D and she looks interesting on this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 -25%) Corellian Star |
5/1(-25%) | (3) Corellian Star 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, very good third of 8 in handicap (11/4) at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm) 18 days ago (second past the post but subsequently disqualified). One to consider. Placed in all four runs and it was a bold bid on her handicap debut at Chepstow; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (50/1 -257%) Daley T |
50/1(-257%) | (2) Daley T 50/1, 40/1, first run since leaving David & Nicola Barron when last of 7 in handicap at Goodwood (5f, good) 17 days ago. Others preferred. Made a low-key start for this yard at Goodwood last month and is now 0-8; others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CORELLIAN STAR was demoted a place to third on her handicap debut at Chepstow having wandered around in the closing stages and the application of blinkers for the first time might help the daughter of Cotai Glory. Imperiousity finally got his head in front on turf at Salisbury and enters calculations, while last week's C&D runner-up Secret Handsheikh is another with claims.
SECRET HANDSHEIKH looked a shade unlucky when narrowly outpointed over C&D last week and, granted better luck this time, he could be the answer. The 5-y-o may have most to fear from Imperiousity, who hit the target at Salisbury recently and has finished second on two of his three previous visits here. Lightly-raced maiden Corellian Star found just one too good on her handicap debut at Chepstow and should be thereabouts once again in a change of headgear.
An open race in which the vote goes to SECRET HANDSHEIKH, who didn't get any luck when a close second over C&D last Monday.

Run Cmc |
(6) (12/1 +25%)12/1(+25%) | (6) Run Cmc 12/1, Yet to add to his maiden success for Grant Tuer last summer but did make a reasonable start for his new yard when 2 lengths fifth over 6f at Goodwood in a first-time visor (retained) 17 days ago. The return to 7f should help. 0-9 since his 2yo win and he has a mixed record this season; others are more solid. |

1st (2) (1.25/1 +0%) Turquoise Diamond |
1.25/1(+0%) | (2) Turquoise Diamond 1.25/1, Improved in her 3 qualifying runs and shaped better than the result when 1¾ lengths fifth of 9 to Moondial on her Epsom handicap debut (7f, good to firm) 24 days ago, caught too far back after a slowish start. Remains capable of better. Wasn't beaten far on her handicap debut at Epsom and she still has potential; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3.5/1 -56%) Moondial |
3.5/1(-56%) | (5) Moondial 3.5/1, In good form this summer, winning over 7f on fast ground at Salisbury in June and Epsom (Turquoise Diamond behind) in August. Likely to go well again. Found more progress with her brave win at Epsom and she's only 1lb higher here; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4.5/1 +10%) Major Gatsby |
4.5/1(+10%) | (3) Major Gatsby 4.5/1, C&D winner. Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at Chepstow (6f, good, 11/1) 14 days ago. Last win was over C&D and he's on a dangerous mark back in trip; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6.5/1 +41%) Native Beach |
6.5/1(+41%) | (4) Native Beach 6.5/1, Winner of a maiden at Wolverhampton (7f) in April. Third on 8.6f handicap debut there next time but well below par in 4 outings since. Needs to stage a revival. 0-5 in handicaps and he's been well below form in last three runs; needs major turnaround. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (22/1 +56%) Mayz |
22/1(+56%) | (7) Mayz 22/1, Poor form. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7f) 10 days ago. Others have achieved more. Has not finished closer than 8l to a winner in her seven starts; can only be watched. |

6th (1) (10/1 +44%) Hobson Point |
10/1(+44%) | (1) Hobson Point 10/1, Fair maiden handicapper who ran well on first run since leaving Marco Botti when runner-up at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) in June. Not in the same form faced with much softer ground at Lingfield 8 weeks later and virtually refused to race at Thirsk since. Comes with risks after that. 13-race maiden and he virtually refused to race at Thirsk last time; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Turquoise Diamond missed the break on her handicap bow at Epsom before finishing fifth and the William Haggas-trained filly appears capable of taking a step forward from that display. However, despite meeting the reopposing winner MOONDIAL on 2lb better terms, it would be no surprise to see that rival confirm the form as she seeks a third win from her last four starts. The return to 7f may benefit Major Gatsby and he completes the shortlist.
Although TURQUOISE DIAMOND was behind Moondial at Epsom last time there were excuses and she's given another chance to show she can do better in handicaps for her leading stable. The Kublers' filly can follow her home.
Moondial beat TURQUOISE DIAMOND at Epsom but the latter is still unexposed and may be able to turn the tables here.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK.
