1st (5) (2/1 +56%) Alfred Cove |
2/1(+56%) | (5) Alfred Cove 2/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. 10/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, firm) 4 days ago, hampered. Got no run at Bath on Friday, but now 0-16 and a sharp 5f like this may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.33/1 +26%) I'm Mable |
3.33/1(+26%) | (4) I'm Mable 3.33/1, Creditable ¾-length fourth of 9 to Big Time Maybe in handicap (5/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 7 days ago. Under a length behind Big Time Maybe over C&D last week and 4lb better off; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 -45%) Big Time Maybe |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Big Time Maybe 4/1, Won 9-runner handicap (9/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 7 days ago, just holding on having hung under pressure. Thriving and good shout in hat-trick bid under penalty. 4-8 over C&D, including when making all one week ago; major player despite penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/1 -120%) Battle Point |
11/1(-120%) | (6) Battle Point 11/1, Winner at Lingfield in April. Bit below form 3¼ lengths fourth of 8 to Big Time Maybe in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW, 13/2) 17 days ago, left poorly placed. Has to be taken seriously. 1-18 and 0-4 on turf; others hold more compelling claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6.5/1 -8%) Ellie Piper |
6.5/1(-8%) | (7) Ellie Piper 6.5/1, 15/2, below form eighth of 15 in handicap at Bath (5f, soft) 29 days ago. Both wins came off higher marks last year but she doesn't look ready to take advantage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (80/1 -186%) John O'groats |
80/1(-186%) | (2) John O'groats 80/1, Maiden, looks regressive. 200/1, last of 11 in handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good to firm) 14 days ago. 0-11 and little to suggest dropping to 5f will result in a change of fortune. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (6/1 -20%) Vandad |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Vandad 6/1, Off 3 months/wind op, last of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 16/1) 19 days ago. No surprise to see a revival back here (2-2 over C&D). Has shown little on the AW this year, but 5lb lower than for the latest of two C&D wins. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A game winner over C&D last time out, a 4lb penalty looks unlikely to stop BIG TIME MAYBE from securing a hat-trick in an otherwise weak contest. The gelded son of Dandy Man had been kept busy on the all-weather before that outing and defied a 7lb rise to complete a double. The reopposing I'm Mable (fourth) is feared most, while Battle Point completes the shortlist.
VANDAD has dropped to a very tempting mark and given he's 2-2 over C&D a revival could be on the cards now he's back on turf. He's chanced over the hat-trick seeking Big Time Maybe and stablemate Battle Point.
Despite a 4lb penalty for his narrow success here a week ago, it's hard to oppose BIG TIME MAYBE given his fine record over C&D (4-8).

1st (4) (11/1 +0%) Thawg |
11/1(+0%) | (4) Thawg 11/1, Twice-raced filly. Sixth of 7 in novice event (13/2) at Windsor (10f, heavy) 15 days ago. Down in trip. Well held in two 1m2f races on soft ground but may show more on this faster surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 +43%) The Jackler |
2/1(+43%) | (2) The Jackler 2/1, Sixth of 10 in maiden at Newbury (8f, heavy, 16/1) on debut 38 days ago. This is an easier assignment. Only sixth on last month's Newbury debut but is nicely bred and should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (14/1 -65%) Rebecca West |
14/1(-65%) | (5) Rebecca West 14/1, Twice-raced filly. 22/1, ninth of 10 in maiden at Yarmouth (7f, good) 28 days ago, slowly away. Well held in both starts but from a top yard and improvement is possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (3.33/1 -104%) Bush Rose |
3.33/1(-104%) | (3) Bush Rose 3.33/1, Too green to show full worth when fourth of 6 in maiden at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) on debut. Off 9 months. Likely to improve for leading yard. Well held on her Beverley debut last August but bred to be better than that; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (1.5/1 +25%) Hoornblower |
1.5/1(+25%) | (1) Hoornblower 1.5/1, Sets the standard on his runner-up effort at Wolverhampton in March. 7/1, bit disappointing when seventh of 10 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 43 days ago. Makes turf debut back in maiden company. Has shown ability in two of four starts on AW but looks up against it on turf debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BUSH ROSE hasn't been seen since finishing a fair fourth at Beverley on her racecourse bow last August, but Roger Varian's inmate is fairly well-related and looks worth another chance given her dam was Listed-placed in France during her career. Hoornblower has proven to be capable of better than his most recent outing suggests and he could bounce back, while The Jackler also warrants a market check after doing some good late work on debut.
BUSH ROSE was held back by inexperience on debut at Beverley last summer but that race worked out quite well and, representing a leading yard, there should be plenty more to come from her as a 3-y-o. Hoornblower is slightly more exposed but he will be bang there if replicating the pick of his AW form on turf.
Preference is for BUSH ROSE who should be suited by the extra furlong. It would be no surprise if she has progressed from two to three.

1st (1) (2/1 +20%) Confils |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Confils 2/1, Not the most consistent but she arrives having returned to her best to land 7-runner C&D handicap 4 weeks ago, leading entering final 1f and driven out. Possibilities from 4 lb higher mark is arriving in same groove. 4lb higher than when successful over C&D four weeks ago; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +20%) Fieldsman |
4/1(+20%) | (2) Fieldsman 4/1, Veteran C&D winner who arrives in good form, no extra only late on when third in 11-runner handicap here (7f) 7 days ago. Should give another good account at this level. Admirable veteran and three-time course winner but has won only one of his last 32 starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (2/1 +20%) Romanovich |
2/1(+20%) | (5) Romanovich 2/1, 7/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good to firm) 14 days ago, just holding on having seemed to idle late on. Remains less exposed than most, including at this trip, so one to consider. 2lb higher than for latest Chepstow win and shouldn't have a problem with return to 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -20%) Mr Marvlos |
6/1(-20%) | (4) Mr Marvlos 6/1, Unreliable individual who dispelled a lesser effort when third in 12-runner C&D handicap 7 days ago, headway out wide over 2f out and running on late. However, he remains winless and not one to go overboard about. 0-14 but ran well when third over C&D last week; could make an impact if building on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (8.5/1 -113%) Ower Starlight |
8.5/1(-113%) | (3) Ower Starlight 8.5/1, Latest win at Kempton (1m) in March. Creditable second of 13 in handicap back at that venue (1m, 7/2) 27 days ago, kicking on over 2f out and headed final 100 yds. Remains winless on turf but he's certainly not out of things. 3-16 on the AW and 0-10 on grass; best turf form has come on a soft surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -200%) Moorgate |
150/1(-200%) | (6) Moorgate 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. 125/1, seventh of 9 in novice hurdle at Plumpton (15.9f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Poor on last Flat run. Has accomplished little in seven starts (Flat/hurdles) and makes no appeal dropped in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A case can be made for most of these, but CONFILS secured a comfortable success over C&D earlier this month and is taken to follow up here, despite having to shoulder top-weight after a 4lb rise. The booking of Andrea Atzeni adds further appeal to her cause, but Fieldsman was only beaten half a length over 7f most recently and should not be dismissed lightly. Last-time-out winner Romanovich is another to consider off 2lb higher.
ROMANOVICH is less exposed than most and found some improvement to make his second start in handicaps a winning one at Chepstow recently, just holding on having seemed to idle late on. He gets the narrow vote to follow up, with Confils and Mr Marvlos others fancied to be thereabouts.

5.5/1(-83%) | (1) Come On John 5.5/1, Won 8-runner handicap (5/4) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 15 days ago, overcoming pace bias. Not taken lightly despite a 4 lb rise.
2nd (4) (4/1 -33%) Letter Of The Law |
4/1(-33%) | (4) Letter Of The Law 4/1, Course winner. Creditable second of 9 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good to firm, 9/1) 14 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Can give another good account.
3rd (5) (2.5/1 +17%) Cape Cornwall Rose |
2.5/1(+17%) | (5) Cape Cornwall Rose 2.5/1, Back in headgear when very good 1¼ lengths second of 9 to Seattle King in handicap at this C&D (good) 27 days ago, clear of rest. Player off the same mark.
4th (7) (12/1 -9%) Naadyaa |
12/1(-9%) | (7) Naadyaa 12/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, below-par fourth of 7 to Letter of The Law in handicap at this course (8f, good, 16/1) 27 days ago. Back up in trip with work to do.
5th (3) (6.5/1 +13%) Rose Camira |
6.5/1(+13%) | (3) Rose Camira 6.5/1, Had wind op/first run since leaving Chris Wall when fading seventh of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good) 28 days ago. Can take a step forward.
6th (6) (33/1 +18%) Capla Knight |
33/1(+18%) | (6) Capla Knight 33/1, Ninth of 12 in handicap at this course (8f, good to firm, 33/1) 7 days ago. Back up in trip. It's now twenty runs since his last win in 2022.
7th (2) (3/1 +33%) Seattle King |
3/1(+33%) | (2) Seattle King 3/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in May. Only fifth of 7 in handicap at this course (11.9f, good to firm, 11/2) 7 days ago though so he needs to bounce back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Letter Of The Law looked outpaced over 7f at Chester two weeks ago, but he can be a more potent force back over further today. Cape Cornwall Rose (second) is now 4lb better off with Seattle King (winner) on their recent C&D meeting, but that might not be enough to see her reverse the form. COME ON JOHN did well to win at Wolverhampton last time out when given plenty to do from the rear and, if proving as effective back on the grass off a 4lb higher mark, he could double up.
CAPE CORNWALL ROSE got right back on track in a refitted hood when runner-up over C&D last time and is weighted to go one better off an unchanged mark. Recent Wolverhampton scorer Come On John rates a big threat though, with course-winner Letter of The Law and William Jarvis' new recruit Rose Camira not discounted either in an open handicap.

1st (4) (3.33/1 +0%) Sir Winston |
3.33/1(+0%) | (4) Sir Winston 3.33/1, 12/1, good second of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 17 days ago, finishing with running left. Less exposed than most of these and leading claims for top Newmarket stable. 0-7, placed four times; only just beaten last time but unraced on ground faster than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1.88/1 +32%) Rawyaan |
1.88/1(+32%) | (3) Rawyaan 1.88/1, C&D winner. 10/1, creditable third of 9 over C&D (good) 38 days ago, nearest finish. Likely to be in the shake-up again. Unexposed 4yo; finished third over C&D last time; 1lb below last winning mark; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/1 -33%) Little Boy Blue |
8/1(-33%) | (2) Little Boy Blue 8/1, Four-time course winner, including this race last year off an identical mark. Well held on Doncaster reappearance but no surprise to see him stage a revival back here. Tongue strap on first time. Course record 131311; off the same mark as when winning this race last year; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (18/1 -29%) Batchelor Boy |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Batchelor Boy 18/1, C&D winner. 10/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at this course (6f, good) 27 days ago, slowly away. Last three wins have come here but this trip looks right on the edge of his stamina. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (6.5/1 -44%) Barging Thru |
6.5/1(-44%) | (1) Barging Thru 6.5/1, Latest win at Chelmsford (7f) in March. 3/1, below-form fifth of 6 in handicap back there (7f) 33 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Three wins on the AW; placed in two of his four starts on turf, but over shorter trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (7/1 +13%) They Don't Know |
7/1(+13%) | (7) They Don't Know 7/1, Remains a maiden after 21 starts. Creditable third of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford (1¼m) 47 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. 0-21; has enough to prove down to this trip for the first time since third start as a 2yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5.5/1 -10%) King Of War |
5.5/1(-10%) | (8) King Of War 5.5/1, C&D winner. Second of 11 in C&D handicap (good to firm) 7 days ago. Player if showing up in similar form. 2lb lower than when winning over C&D last summer and only just beaten back here last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RAWYAAN had dropped in the handicap prior to finishing a good third over C&D last month, an effort for which he was subsequently eased a further 1lb. He's now below his last winning mark, which came at Goodwood last June, and that could see him regain the winning thread today. Narrowly denied over C&D a week ago, King Of War can make his presence felt now upped in class and in receipt of weight, while Little Boy Blue appeals most of the remainder.
SIR WINSTON shaped well when second at Lingfield last time and can go one better now. Last week's C&D second King of War may provide the chief threat ahead of Rawyaan and Little Boy Blue, who won this race last year.
The choice is KING OF WAR, 2lb lower than when winning over C&D last summer and only just beaten off this mark back here seven days ago.

1st (8) (3.33/1 -11%) Threebars |
3.33/1(-11%) | (8) Threebars 3.33/1, 8/1, good second of 13 in handicap at Bath (8f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Deserves to get her head in front and obvious claims of doing so off the same mark here, with 7 lb claimer Tyrese Cameron again in the saddle. Second in both starts on turf; beaten a neck at Bath last time; major player off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -33%) Film Star |
10/1(-33%) | (5) Film Star 10/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in maiden at Chelmsford City (7f, 14/1) 40 days ago. Needs to raise her game now pitched into a handicap. Has shown ability in three starts on the AW; worth a second look on turf/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4.5/1 +10%) Deed Pole |
4.5/1(+10%) | (6) Deed Pole 4.5/1, 10/3, creditable third of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (8f, heavy) 45 days ago. Record stands at 0-8 but he's another that should be in the mix if coping with the faster ground. Has run well on soft ground the last twice; not discounted if coping with the conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5.5/1 +21%) Mister X |
5.5/1(+21%) | (2) Mister X 5.5/1, Course winner. Below form ninth of 16 in handicap (50/1) at Newmarket (7f, good) 11 days ago (first run since being gelded), left poorly placed. Cheekpieces on 1st time and, now 2 lb below his last winning mark, couldn't rule out. Course winner here (6f) and successful three times over 7f on the AW since; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (10/1 -43%) Grand Central |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Grand Central 10/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Second of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 20/1) 5 days ago, having run of race. Definite chance off the same mark if able to reproduce that level of form back on turf. 0-16 but beaten less than a length at Wolverhampton last Thursday; claims on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (7.5/1 -25%) Storyinthesand |
7.5/1(-25%) | (3) Storyinthesand 7.5/1, 9/1 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable third of 6 in handicap at Leicester (7f, heavy) 17 days ago, slowly away. Each-way shout, provided she proved equally effective under completely different conditions here. 0-7 but has shown some ability; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (20/1 -67%) Lady Amanda |
20/1(-67%) | (4) Lady Amanda 20/1, Lightly-raced winner. Successful at Kempton in November. 9/1, last of 11 in nursery at Lingfield (7f, AW) in final 2-y-o start. Yard saddles a more appealing candidate in Threebars. Won a Kempton nursery last November but poor next time; could figure if resuming progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (3.33/1 +39%) Geralt Of Rivia |
3.33/1(+39%) | (1) Geralt Of Rivia 3.33/1, 6/4, fifth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) when last seen in January. String of decent efforts in nurseries prior to that, including when runner-up on latest start on turf at Ffos Las last August, but shade more needed in order to open his account here. Twice runner-up over 6f but a modest effort over this trip last time; something to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MISTER X, who tries cheekpieces for the first time, has already tasted success in handicaps and, from 2lb lower than his last wining mark, he rates as a key player dropping back to this level. Luke Catton was in the saddle for three of his four previous wins and the rider's 5lb claim comes in handy today. Storyinthesand has snippets of form that suggests she can also go well, while the unexposed Film Star needs monitoring in the betting on her handicap debut.
This represents a good opportunity for THREEBARS, who produced her best effort yet when going close over a mile at Bath where she left the impression that dropping back to this trip would be a good thing. Mister X was a winner of his sole previous start here in a nursery last September and he could prove most troublesome, if responding well to the first-time cheekpieces. Provided they both handle conditions, Deed Pole and Storyinthesand should also be involved.
Preference is for THREEBARS (nap), runner-up in both starts on turf and off the same mark as when beaten a neck last time.

3.33/1(+58%) | (6) The Princes Poet 3.33/1, Last of 12 in handicap at Windsor (6f, heavy, 6/1) on return 36 days ago. Bit to prove now. 1lb above last winning mark, but something to prove after a very poor reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7.5/1 -233%) Bobby On The Beat |
7.5/1(-233%) | (1) Bobby On The Beat 7.5/1, Returned to winning ways at Lingfield (6f, AW) last month and arrives on back of creditable second of 8 in handicap over same C&D 17 days ago. Remains feasibly treated, back on turf, and must enter calculations. Five wins on the AW but rarely seen on turf (0-13) these days; something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (3.33/1 +56%) Bear To Dream |
3.33/1(+56%) | (7) Bear To Dream 3.33/1, C&D winner. Bit below form seventh of 13 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good to firm, 6/1) 13 days ago, never nearer. Others more persuasive. Off the same mark as when winning over C&D last August; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2.25/1 +59%) Major Gatsby |
2.25/1(+59%) | (3) Major Gatsby 2.25/1, Back from 5 months off when respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at this course (7f, good to firm) 7 days ago. Entitled to build on that. Four wins last year, latest from 1lb lower here in June; may benefit from the drop in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (14/1 -27%) Lethal Angel |
14/1(-27%) | (4) Lethal Angel 14/1, 4-time course winner. Eleventh of 12 in handicap (11/1) at this course (7f, soft). Off 7 months. Others preferred. Four-time winner here but off 229 days and is 9lb above last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (5/1 -50%) Wiley Post |
5/1(-50%) | (5) Wiley Post 5/1, Course winner. Back from 4-month absence when good third of 7 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, heavy) 15 days ago, slowly away. Races off same mark and merits consideration. Suited by fast ground; has won over 6f on the AW but 5f appears to suit him better on turf. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Bobby On The Beat has sound claims on the best of his all-weather form but, he is 0-13 on turf and there is enough doubt to look elsewhere for the winner, with four-time course scorer LETHAL ANGEL looking a more solid candidate. She counts a C&D victory among those wins and the forecast ground conditions could be in instrumental in her staging a successful return to action. Wiley Post and The Princes Poet are also considered.
Preference is for WILEY POST, who scored here this time last year and made a pleasing return to action at Windsor earlier this month. Bobby On The Beat and Major Gatsby rate the principal dangers.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
