The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ALI SHUFFLE won a shade cosily on her Redcar debut earlier in the month and she may prove good enough to give 5lb or more to her rivals to come home in front. Kevin Ryan had a juvenile winner at Musselburgh on Sunday and is represented by Kilfrush Desert, who commands plenty of respect, while others likely to make an impact are Museum Piece and Sand Lily.
Ali Shuffle is an obvious one, along with newcomers Dakota Dawn, Kilfrush Desert, SAND LILY and Sioux Perfect.

Four-year-olds have a good record in this race and it will be interesting to see where EQUITY LAW sits in the market ahead of his first start for Tim Easterby, with his latest win at Sandown in April last year in a better race, and off a 5lb higher mark. King Of Tonga has won on his return before and was last seen scoring at Chester in July, but he may have to settle for a place on this occasion, while Elegant Erin loves it here with three wins from five starts.
An open race in which TRILBY (nap) gets the vote following an eyecatching reappearance when meeting traffic at Doncaster.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Hiya Maite is entitled to go close and will look to put his race fitness to good use after a neck second at Southwell last month. He still needs a career best off this mark, and preference is for the younger ANGEL SHARED, whose wins on turf have come on a variety of surfaces. She could step forward this season, with Albegone and Havana Rum also of interest from the bottom of the handicap.
No strong fancy in this one but DURAN won three times last year and still looks like having more to give, preferred to Hiya Maite.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Arkinthestars |
11/2(-10%) | (3) Arkinthestars 11/2, Weak in the market 2l third in a maiden over 10f at Newcastle most recent run; that moderate form; consistent; down in trip; bit to find 0-4, fair ability without progressing; this looks like requiring a bit more from her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Adoon Valley |
15/8(-56%) | (2) Adoon Valley 15/8, Made too much use of beaten 5l in a novice over 7f at Newmarket (July) last time; race came too soon that day; returning from long layoff; up in trip; debut form franked at Group level; major player Showed ability last year; up in trip after an absence, but needs taking seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Soul Dance |
9/1(+73%) | (5) Soul Dance 9/1, Well beaten in a novice at Lingfield only start where missed the break; yard's horses tend to take big step forwards second run; significant improvement likely 40-1, always behind after slow start in 1m AW Lingfield novice on debut; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Pomme Pomme |
150/1(-200%) | (4) Pomme Pomme 150/1, Well beaten in a maiden at Lingfield only start where very green and missed the break; trainer in form; all to do Always behind in 1m AW Lingfield fillies' maiden on recent debut (16-1); way more needed. |

10/3(-21%) | (1) Al Khawssaa 10/3, Well backed when won a novice at Southwell over 7f by 2l last time only pushed out; that form franked at Listed level in France; up in trip; threat Contested two 7f AW fillies' novices last year, winning at Southwell second up; penalty. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
AL KHAWSSAA ended her three-year-old campaign with a cosy triumph at Southwell and she looks one to keep the right side of on her return to action. Roger Varian has his string in fine fettle and the Night Of Thunder filly looks capable of following up. The biggest threat may emerge from Adoon Valley, who is a live threat judged on her debut second at Newmarket. Arkinthestars and Wilhelmina are also worth a second look.
Most tempting is WILHELMINA, who had excuses after a pleasing debut last year and looks like improving now.

13/2(+0%) | (4) Kokanee 13/2, Wide trip beaten 4l in a novice over 9f at Wolverhampton last time; consistent; back up in trip, probably ok; may need the run; open to marked improvement but on stiff looking mark Unplaced but steadily progressive in three 1m-1m2f AW novices late last year; newly gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Trojan Soldier |
8/1(+20%) | (5) Trojan Soldier 8/1, Slowly away beaten 7 1/2l in a novice over 8f at Newcastle last time; usually consistent; usually held up; up in trip; on fair looking mark for handicap debut, contender Four-race maiden who needs to improve for this step up in trip; others preferred. |

4th (1) ![]() Edge Ofthe Unknown |
9/4(+32%) | (1) Edge Ofthe Unknown 9/4, Well backed beaten 1 1/4l off 81 over 11f at Southwell last time on handicap debut; off a short-break; worth a go at 10f, should suit well; the pick on balance of form Three starts on the AW; hasn't progressed from debut novice win, but still some potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Sir Peter Fossick |
5/1(-43%) | (2) Sir Peter Fossick 5/1, 4 1/2l third in a maiden over 7f at Chester most recent run; significant jockey booking; up in trip, probably suit better; mark looks stiff but not out of it Four starts in 7f maidens last year, twice finishing a fair second; newly gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Shielas Well |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Shielas Well 20/1, Did not get a clear run fourth beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap over 11f at Southwell latest off a layoff; not proven trip but should suit; in the mix Sole filly and looks more exposed than the others; plenty more needed than on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Although thwarted in his follow-up bid at Chelmsford 20 days ago, LIGHTENING MANN lost little in defeat in finishing second. A 2lb nudge up in the ratings looks workable for Jack Channon's gelding and he's fancied to regain the winning thread. Sir Peter Fossick may have found the ground too soft on his third-placed defeat at Chester in September last year and he isn't taken lightly on the back of a gelding procedure. Edge Ofthe Unknown is the pick of the remainder.
The most appealing option is SIR PETER FOSSIC, a potential improver now up in trip for his return albeit he's not exactly bred to stay.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FREDDY ROBINSON returned to form with a staying-on third over 1m2f at Doncaster last time out. The son of Adaay should relish today's extra two furlongs and compensation could be on the cards. Prince Achille ended his last campaign with a fair sixth at Newcastle and a 134-day break may freshen him up. The six-year-old is feared most reverting to turf, ahead of Marioento.
Three of these took part in the same Doncaster race last month and it's the sixth WHATACRACKER who makes the most appeal.

12th (11) ![]() Vesperado |
20/1(+0%) | (11) Vesperado 20/1, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a novice at Thirsk latest; not proven trip, looks better over shorter; on stiff looking mark, lot to do Now in a more suitable race, but doesn't really appeal on first start since August. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A gelding operation seemed to work wonders for BELTADAAY when scoring easily at Leicester last October. A 10lb rise for that success could prove manageable, despite totally different conditions on his return. The son of Adaay is narrowly preferred to the consistent Law Degree and Sovereign Class, who bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort over further at Musselburgh most recently. Berkshire Smudge and Seed Investor are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
There looks like being more to come from MOBY QUICK, so he's the choice in a race with no fully convincing options.

The Edward Bethell stable can do little wrong at present and CROWN'S LADY could be a shrewd recruit to the yard, having won three times last year. Going back up in trip looks like a good move for the four-year-old, and it may be that Astronomica gives her the most to think about, having ended last season with highly creditable efforts at Leicester and Newmarket. Catton Lady and Electric Avenue cannot be ruled out either.
This is tricky with doubts about the fitness of a few of them and the state of the ground. CROWN'S LADY gets a tentative vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
