Hit with an 8 lb rise for that success but still needs considering in current form. C&D winner over hurdles; won first chase on latest start; 8lb higher but should go well.

Not beaten far when seventh at Doncaster last time but more needed to break his duck in this sphere. Yet to win over fences but close second in November; fair runs since and worth considering.

1 (1) (10/1 -122%) Senor Lombardy	10 10/1(-122%)	(1) Senor Lombardy 10/1, Veteran who performed with credit when second at Wetherby on first run under Rules since March 2022. That form looks solid so worth another chance after falling at the first at Kelso next time. 0-12 over fences but has won five points; creditable second on reappearance; contender.
3 (3) (12/1 -20%) Busty Boy	12 12/1(-20%)	(3) Busty Boy 12/1, Multiple Irish point winner so no surprise he left hurdles form behind when making a winning chase debut at Kelso on return last season. Made the frame on next 5 starts but both efforts this winter have been poor after 7 months off. Kelso winner last term and series of good runs afterwards; below-par two runs in December.
6 (6) (33/1 -175%) Skyhill	33 33/1(-175%)	(6) Skyhill 33/1, Veteran C&D winner who ended last season in a lull but bounced right back to best after 8 months off when winning at Kelso, switch to front running serving him well. Taken on for lead when only fourth at Catterick since but does look high enough in the weights now. Nine wins over fences, latest at Kelso in December; fair run last time; wouldn't rule out.

14:25 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SENOR LOMBARDY fell at the first at Kelso last time and might be better judged on his runner-up effort at Wetherby prior to that. Nicky Richards' veteran lurks on an appealing mark and it would be no surprise to see him return to winning ways. Don Brocco appreciated a change of tactics to score in ready fashion at Carlisle earlier in the month and holds an obvious chance, while Skyhill is another to note.

This looks wide open but DON BROCCO won going away when breaking his duck over fences at Carlisle 3 weeks ago so may be able to defy an 8 lb rise. Senor Lombardy is worth another chance to build on his solid return to Rules having got no further than the first at Kelso next time. Breeze of The Wind is back on a winning mark and is another to consider.

There are plenty with a chance here but the vote goes to SENOR LOMBARDY who ran well when second at Wetherby back in October.

Hard to beat. Bumper winner; three good hurdle runs, notably when 2nd in novice h'cap last time; chance.

Looks the chief threat to Marlacoo. In the frame all three hurdle runs; this appears his best trip; solid each-way chance.
8 (8) (11/2 +31%) Mountain Molly	5.5 11/2(+31%)	(8) Mountain Molly 11/2, Point winner but who was only fifth when favourite for a Newcastle bumper last April and ran to only a modest level when filling the same position in a 2m course maiden hurdle 10 months later. This longer trip should suit. May do better. Irish point winner; fair form in a bumper and a maiden hurdle here; needs to improve.

Better efforts in novice hurdles 8 months apart when 15 lengths third of 9 over 2m here 5 weeks ago. Place claims again with the step back up in trip likely to suit. Good 2nd in bumper in May and fair 3rd over hurdles last time; 2m3f will suit; interesting.

4 (4) (150/1 +40%) Ideal De Romay	150 150/1(+40%)	(4) Ideal De Romay 150/1, Irish point winner but only a poor maiden under Rules and faces a very stiff task out of low-grade handicaps. Exposed maiden over hurdles and fences and is facing a stiff task here.

Highland Fashion showed more when finishing third on his second start over hurdles at this venue last time, but preference is for MARLACOO. Tom Lacey's five-year-old occupied the runner-up spot in handicap company at Sandown last time and sets a fair standard with a rating of 112. He looks well placed to get off the mark, while Orkney Blue isn't out of it either.

This looks a very good opportunity for MARLACOO to get off the mark over hurdles. Orkney Blue looks the obvious one for the forecast spot ahead of Highland Fashion.

Although Marlacoo will be hard to beat the value could be with ORKNEY BLUE who has a solid each-way chance.

15:25 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f - 3 Run Class & Speed Card

Followed up at Aintree before finding just one too good at Sandown last time and he's the one to beat. Dual hurdle winner; made all to win two races over fences (good 2nd last time); chance.
3 (3) (9/4 +10%) Dance Thief	2.25 9/4(+10%)	(3) Dance Thief 9/4, Reliable type who clearly likes it here (form figures over hurdles at this course read 23132) and while he didn't take to fences at the first attempt at Musselburgh, it was an entirely different story back at this venue recently when easily taking a 6-runner handicap. Solid claims depsite 7 lb hike. C&D winner over hurdles; off the mark on 2nd chase start over C&D last week; not out of it.
2 (2) (10/3 -11%) Brucio	3.333333 10/3(-11%)	(2) Brucio 10/3, Fairly useful mare who was successful twice over hurdles last term. Not at her best in a couple of appearances so far this season and hopes now pinned on the switch to fences helping to reignite some spark. Two hurdle wins last term, the second a Listed mares' handicap; interesting on chase debut.

15:25 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

DANCE THIEF made his way through the field to run out a comfortable victor over track and trip on his latest outing and a 7lb rise might underestimate the manner of that success. If he remains in similar form, he will prove very tough to beat. Doyen Du Bar hasn't finished outside of the first two home on each of his last three starts and can beat Brucio to the runner-up spot.

With a soft lead likely, DOYEN DU BAR is taken to resume winning ways having chased home a useful type in Vincenzo off this mark at Sandown last time. Dance Thief left his low-key chase debut well behind when seeing off 5 rivals with minimum fuss back here 13 days ago and he is an obvious threat. Brucio wouldn't be out of his if matching the pick of her hurdles form at the first attempt in this sphere but she's hard to get excited about on the back of a couple of below par efforts.

This can go to DOYEN DU BAR who has already won two small-field chases and is likely to get his own way up front again.

Capable of better still back down in trip. Needs considering. Quite smart on the Flat; improved upon hurdle debut to win over 2m4f last time; a possible.
4 (4) (12/1 +25%) Instinct D'ainay	12 12/1(+25%)	(4) Instinct D'ainay 12/1, Has been brought along steadily, sixth of 15 in novice hurdle (16/1) at Down Royal (17.2f, soft) 34 days ago, not knocked about. This Irish challenger needs to take a big step forward. Modest efforts in a point and two maiden hurdles at Down Royal; others stronger.
3 (3) (22/1 -57%) Glenville	22 22/1(-57%)	(3) Glenville 22/1, Down the field both starts in bumpers but much more encouragement when fourth of 10 on hurdles debut in novice over C&D 53 days ago. Could build on that. Sound hurdles debut when 5l fourth over C&D; this looks tougher; each-way chance.

Lots more required for her new handler. Ex-Irish; only 12th of 14 in a maiden hurdle on debut; hood tried on stable debut.
6 (6) (200/1 -203%) Kanitamay	200 200/1(-203%)	(6) Kanitamay 200/1, 25/1, eleventh of 12 in bumper at this C&D (soft) on NH debut 34 days ago. Makes hurdles debut with significantly more needed. £40,000 3yo; tailed off in a C&D bumper on debut; looks more of a long-term prospect.

16:00 Ayr Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BOWENSONFIRE could not have done it any easier when getting off the mark at Limerick last month and trainer Gordon Elliott looks to have found him another ideal opportunity. A 7lb penalty will make life tougher, but he should have too much for Serious Challenge, who was a taking winner himself at Plumpton most recently. Glenville finished a respectable fourth here and cannot be ruled out either.

Gordon Elliott's BOWENSONFIRE possesses much the best form on offer so is fancied to follow up his breakthrough Limerick victory. Serious Challenge rates the obvious threat on the back of his Plumpton success with the promise of more to come judged on his very useful Flat form. Glenville and Instinct d'Ainay can fight it out for minor honours.

Having scored in fine style at Limerick last time BOWENSONFIRE will prove hard to beat. Serious Challenge looks his main threat.

Steps into better company but he may still be improving. One for the shortlist. Won over C&D a fortnight ago; 9lb higher in this better grade but had plenty in hand.
2 (2) (7/2 +36%) Park Annonciade	3.5 7/2(+36%)	(2) Park Annonciade 7/2, Fairly useful hurdler was unable to sustain any progress over fences this season but proved as good as ever back over the smaller obstacles, finishing second over C&D in a stronger race than he faces on this occasion. Plenty to like about his chances. Reverted to hurdles with close third over C&D (soft) last month and he's a key player.
3 (3) (7/2 +61%) I Wish You	3.5 7/2(+61%)	(3) I Wish You 7/2, Novice winner (made-all) but has struggled to land a telling blow in handicaps having been handed a stiff-opening mark. Appeared to stay this longer trip when third over C&D (having been positioned in midfield) and hopes may rest on a return to more positive tactics, with first time hood now added. Improvement needed on third handicap start but unexposed and should be capable of better.
7 (7) (6/1 +0%) Wearelongterm	6 6/1(+0%)	(7) Wearelongterm 6/1, Remains a maiden but he posted his best effort to date when second in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby (24.1f, heavy) 19 days ago, chasing home a progressive type. Up 3lb for that effort but this lightly-raced 8-y-o may yet prove better than his current mark. Back to form with clear second at Wetherby last month and he's respected up 3lb.
6 (6) (7/1 -180%) Gege Ville	7 7/1(-180%)	(6) Gege Ville 7/1, Left maiden/novice hurdle form behind when making winning handicap debut overcoming 20-month absence and trouble in running to score (Haydock, 18.9f, heavy). Has been given time to get over that and while he's clearly had issues, further improvement not ruled out on only his 7th career start. Very lightly raced 9yo who defied long absence at Haydock; could have plenty more to offer.
4 (4) (11/1 +31%) Eloi Du Puy	11 11/1(+31%)	(4) Eloi Du Puy 11/1, Improved last season racking up 4 handicaps wins before below-par effort on final run when unsuited by the emphasis on speed. Should enjoy this more testing ground and one to note in betting with this effectively being his comeback run (fell at Kelso 10 days ago). Four wins last season; mid-race fall on recent belated reappearance but not ruled out.
5 (5) (22/1 -193%) Nathan Wells	22 22/1(-193%)	(5) Nathan Wells 22/1, Lightly-raced sort fared little better in first-time blinkers when fourth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Navan (21.8f, heavy) earlier this month. Clearly one of the excellent stable's lesser lights but worth monitoring for market support with Sean Bowen taking the mount. 0-9 and well beaten the last twice but represents top Irish yard; watch the betting.
1 (1) (50/1 -178%) Perseus Way	50 50/1(-178%)	(1) Perseus Way 50/1, Useful winning juvenile hurdler for Gary Moore in 2022/23. Recorded couple of respectable placed efforts on Flat for Owen Burrows in autumn 2023 but no show over hurdles in 4 starts for Christian Williams. Revival needed on stable debut. Useful juvenile hurdler in 2022-23 campaign but struggled last year; makes stable debut.

16:35 Ayr Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

A revelation on his handicap debut at Haydock in December when taking control at the finish, GEGE VILLE is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming and a 5lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. Success may come at the main expense of recent course scorer The Jeweller's Pet, and Irish raider Park Annonciade, who wasn't beaten far here last month.

WEARELONGTERM ran his best race over hurdles last time and being so lightly-raced for one his age, may be able to improve beyond his current handicap mark. He can take this ahead of Park Annonciade who also looks fairly treated having bounced back to form over C&D last month. The Jeweller's Pet is progressive and merits respect despite a rise in grade.

The very lightly raced 9yo GEGE VILLE (nap) defied a long absence to win on heavy ground at Haydock in December and can follow up.

17:10 Ayr NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f - 5 Run Class & Speed Card

Has travelled a long way to make his debut and his trainer does well in bumpers.
4 (4) (6/4 -36%) Triple Crown Ted	1.5 6/4(-36%)	(4) Triple Crown Ted 6/4, Couldn't justify strong market support but still showed plenty of ability when 3 lengths second of 12 on C&D debut (soft) 5 weeks ago. Evidently well regarded and taken to go one better now. Even-money favourite when runner-up over C&D on debut and in good hands to progress.
5 (5) (8/1 -60%) Oh Janey	8 8/1(-60%)	(5) Oh Janey 8/1, Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/top-class chaser (stayed 3¼m) Irish Cavalier. Irish stable has a healthy 13-60 bumper record here so it would be no surprise to see this Free Eagle mare go well on debut. Only sixth in a point but Northern Irish yard has very healthy strike-rate in bumpers here.
1 (1) (10/1 +17%) Blofeld	10 10/1(+17%)	(1) Blofeld 10/1, Diamond Boy half-brother to 3 winners, including fair hurdle/fairly useful chase winner Lilting Verse and winning hurdler/fair chaser Urbanist. The betting should help guide to expectations for a yard with a 2-21 bumper record this season. 12,000euros foal; half-brother to three winners but may be one for further down the line.
2 (2) (33/1 +0%) Jack Dempsey	33 33/1(+0%)	(2) Jack Dempsey 33/1, Didn't achieve much when 16 lengths second of 6 on C&D debut in November and well beaten on heavy ground back here 8 weeks later. Well-beaten second over C&D on debut; tailed off over C&D since; others are preferred.

17:10 Ayr NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A promising second when going off favourite on debut here last month, TRIPLE CROWN TED looks the one to beat if building on that effort for his in-form connections. Keep Tabs On You cost a decent amount at the sales and the well-related son of Affinisea could be primed to go well on debut, while Oh Janey is another to monitor for market support on her Rules bow.

TRIPLE CROWN TED seemingly has a bit of a reputation and is taken to go one better than on his C&D debut in January. Keep Tabs On You and Oh Janey are newcomers from yards which enjoy plenty of bumper success and would represent possible threats if the betting speaks in their favour.

The Lucinda Russell-trained TRIPLE CROWN TED was a well-backed runner-up over C&D on last month's debut and is taken to go one better.
