5/2(+67%)
(7) Equinus 5/2, Made a successful handicap debut at Ffos Las (2½m) in January and back to that sort of form when third at Newbury (19f) in March. Behind when unseating rider last at Chepstow on final start in April but comes here with yard having made bright start to the campaign and better showing anticipated.
Two good runs and two flops from his four handicaps; one of the flops when upped to 2m7f.

(8) Secret Trix 9/2, Has thrived with cheekpieces applied this season, completing a hat-trick around 3m before improving again when second at Worcester (2½m) last month. Big player back at 3m.
Stays 3m and improving in cheekpieces, so needs respect despite move away from good ground.

Prairie Wolf

6.5
13/2(+19%)
(5) Prairie Wolf 13/2, Largely progressive in handicaps last term, off the mark at Catterick (19f) in February and placed on 2 of his 3 starts thereafter. Encouraging return display when staying on for second at Warwick (21f) 24 days ago and possibilities with that under his belt.
Reappearance second at Warwick (2m5f) suggests he is well worth this second go at 3m.

(11) Uno Mas 50/1, Got on a roll in the second half of 2021, winning 5 handicaps (4 hurdle, 1 chase), but he hasn't been seen since finishing a remote last of 4 over fences at Carlisle in March 2022. Watching brief the percentage call unless the betting strongly hints otherwise.
Prolific spell in 2021 included this race; first run since tailed off in March 2022.

(3) Czech Her Out 12/1, Better than ever when making a winning start for the Lucinda Russell stable at Perth (3m) in August and even better form when only narrowly denied at Kelso last month. Should give another good account.
Mixed this year; needs a major career best and she's not proven on worse than good to soft.

7
7/1(-75%)
(4) Mylesfromwicklow 7/1, Point winner who has finished runner-up on all 4 starts in maiden/novice hurdles around 2½m, including on last month's Worcester reappearance. Unexposed for top stable now stepping up in trip for handicap debut.
Looks well worth this first attempt beyond 2m4f under rules; considered on handicap debut.

15/2(-36%)
(9) No But I Will 15/2, Point winner who improved over hurdles in the spring, second over 19.5f at Bangor in March before going one better over 23f there 4 weeks later. Could have more to offer in handicaps this term and returns with his yard in form. High on the shortlist.
Heavy defeats over 3m/3m1f in the mud; 2nd and 1st at Bangor, seeing 2m7f out well latest.

Ashington

28
28/1(-100%)
(2) Ashington 28/1, Been running creditably in defeat of late without doing enough to suggest a return to winning ways is likely here.
Plenty of minor honours lately but a win looks unlikely in race this competitive.

Sound And Fury

6
6/1(+0%)
(10) Sound And Fury 6/1, Irish point winner who made a winning start over hurdles at Fontwell in March. Runner-up over 2½m at Newbury and Newcastle later in the spring and he's another in this line-up with unexposed potential now handicapping over a longer trip on his reappearance.
Solid novice record; seemed likely to stay beyond 2m4f; has potential going handicapping.

Feivel

18/1(-64%)
(6) Feivel 18/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser who made a winning start for the Stuart Edmunds yard in a 3m handicap chase at Wetherby in February. Beaten favourite on his next 3 outings and took a fall when in contention 3 out at Uttoxeter in May. Confidence restoring mission returning over timber.
5lb lower back over hurdles (first time since March 2022) after a fall in May; one to note.

66/1(-65%)
(1) Giovanni Change 66/1, Prone to mistakes over hurdles but, after scoring on the level, he recorded a fourth Market Rasen success in May. Pulled up at Uttoxeter in July, though, and also well held on the Flat at Pontefract in August. Needs to have been refreshed by a short break.
Flat and hurdle wins this spring; failed to shine in either sphere in his three runs since.

12:50 Aintree Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Ben Pauling saddled the winner of this prize 12 months ago and SOUND AND FURY could provide him with further success. A winner between the flags in April of last year, the six-year-old showed a fair level of ability in maiden/novice company last season and is interesting off a mark of 114, with the step up to an extended 3m for his handicap debut an added bonus. Mylesfromwicklow would be a deserving winner having hit the woodwork on each of his four starts under Rules, while others to note include No But I Will and Secret Trix.

An interesting and competitive opener. NO BUT I WILL reappears for a yard in good form and gets the nod to make a winning handicap debut. Sound And Fury, who represents last year's winning stable, and Mylesfromwicklow have similarly unexposed profiles to the selection and head the many possible dangers along with the thriving Secret Trix.

This presents quite a puzzle but it may be solved by improvement from MYLESFROMWICKLOW moving up in trip on his handicap debut.

(2) Boldmere 14/1, Understandably looked rusty when returning from 20 months on debut for new yard at Doncaster last December but duly bounced back when landing a 3m veterans' event back there in February and added another victory to his tally at Fakenham in April. Lots to like on seasonal return.

(4) Top Ville Ben 15/2, Not the force of old but his mark now reflects that and was a good 3 lengths third of 23 to The Goffer in handicap chase (28/1) at Leopardstown on penultimate outing. Little impact on both outings since (latest in the Topham) but he's been given a chance by the assessor.

LTO Selection:

13:25 Aintree Handicap Chase (Class 2) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

In an open heat, it might be worth taking a chance on WISHING AND HOPING, who has previously finished first and second in this contest. That second came last year, where he was no match for a ready winner, but he clearly thrives at this venue. Boldmere was in good form when last seen and must be respected on his return. Celebre D'Allen was a well-beaten eighth in the Topham but is an interesting candidate down in grade, and from 5lb below his last winning mark.

JIMMY THE DIGGER made a winning reappearance at Cheltenham last season and Henry Daly's 10-y-o gets the verdict to repeat that feat and make his first start in veterans' company a successful one. The main danger may emerge from Nestor Park, who has just the sole victory to his name in this sphere but has made the frame 11 times from 12 completed starts, while Cap du Nord and Boldmere are another couple to consider in what looks an ultra-competitive contest on paper.

This looks the time to catch JIMMY THE DIGGER (nap), whose reappearance record is very persuasive. Boldmere is feared most.

14:00 Aintree Handicap Chase (Class 1) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

A fascinating renewal sees the return of MY DROGO, who has been off since winning at Cheltenham in December 2021. He sustained an injury thereafter, but his Grade 1 romp as a novice hurdler here still lives fresh in the memory and offers plenty of hope that he can pick up where he left off. Tommy's Oscar returned with a decisive success at Kelso and is expected to mount another stern challenge off 5lb higher. Hitman finished a gallant second in this 12 months ago, off 1lb higher, and is another to consider.

A fascinating renewal but the way TOMMY'S OSCAR made a faultless winning comeback at Kelso suggests he can fulfil his potential in 2023/24 after a rather hit-and-miss novice campaign. Datsalrightgino showed why he went off favourite for the Plate at Cheltenham when winning a Grade 2 at Ayr on his final start and is another to consider, while My Drogo has been off for almost 2 years with a tendon injury but remains an exciting chasing prospect.

My Drogo has to be feared despite the long absence. DATSALRIGHTGINO is a solid alternative, while Minella Drama is respected.

14:35 Aintree Maiden Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

INTHEWATERSIDE was quite taking when landing a second NH Flat race at Sandown in February and Paul Nicholls' gelding could keep his unbeaten record intact if translating that ability to obstacles. Jagwar found only a subsequent Listed hurdle winner too strong when runner-up on his debut at Auteuil a year ago and that experience should stand him in good stead. He may provide the most resistance to the selection, ahead of winning pointer Simple Getaway.

INTHEWATERSIDE looks the part and he rates a smashing hurdles prospect having passed each test in bumpers last term, so is taken to remain unbeaten. Jagwar sets a pretty good standard on his effort in France for another stable, while it's taken time for Theformismighty to make his Rules debut but he could hardly be in better hands.

Good prospect INTHEWATERSIDE is taken to win this maiden event en route to better things. Jagwar is feared most.

(8) Slip Road 22/1, Point winner who cost €95,000 at 3 yrs and showed fairly useful from in defeat in 2 bumper outings. Showed good attitude when making winning hurdles debut back in December 2020 but off the track since and has left Sam Thomas, so market looks the best guide.
Very unexposed but market should prove best guide on return from long layoff.

(3) Kitty's Light 33/1, Most likeable staying chaser signed off last season by landing an exceptional hat-trick, winning the Eider Chase, Scottish National and bet365 Gold Cup. This looks like a pipe-opener for bigger staying targets further down the line.
Remarkable staying chaser but may need this reappearance run back over hurdles.
LTO Selection:

15:10 Aintree Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

SANTOS BLUE lost little in defeat when thwarted in his bid to land a four-timer at Cheltenham in April, and a 3lb rise for that third-placed effort may not be enough to stop this progressive six-year-old from regaining the winning thread. EBF Final winner Crambo has progressed nicely over hurdles and is open to further improvement, while Dare To Shout and Lac De Constance aren't taken lightly.

CRAMBO, who was beaten only in Grade 1 company last season, looks the leading player, with Santos Blue another major player in a strong-looking heat. Hourvari isn't dismissed either.

The EBF Final winner CRAMBO should have more to offer this season and is the selection ahead of Lac De Constance.

(4) Master Chewy 2/1, Remains a maiden but ran to a fairly useful level over hurdles in 2022/23, placing on 3 occasions including when runner-up in a Cheltenham novice in December. Had been an expensive purchase after his third in an Irish point on debut, so he's one to note on his chase bow.
0-7 over hurdles but he remains of serious interest back down in trip for in-form stable.

Had wind surgery before a satisfactory chasing debut in three-runner race at Uttoxeter.

Up 6lb (3lb out of handicap) but there's plenty to like in Hexham win from General Officer.

(2) Martator 20/1, Placed in Grade 1 hurdles at Auteuil in 2021 for Joel Boisnard but subsequently spent more than a year off the track and stuggled for form in Britain last season. However, it still remains early days with his current yard as he makes only his second start over fences.
Good French hurdles form; dropped 18lb since British debut and needs a close look.
LTO Selection:

15:45 Aintree Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Pembroke made a solid beginning to his fencing career when runner-up at Uttoxeter and he is entitled to come on from that display. That said, he has to give 11lb and upwards to his rivals, some of which have the potential to improve a lot in this sphere, and the vote goes to CHAPEL GREEN. The six-year-old got off the mark on his chasing debut at Hexham when proving too strong for General Officer and he is expected to take another step forward. Master Chewy didn't get his head in front over hurdles, but he threatened to develop into a smart performer in the early part of last season and fences might help to unlock his potential.

Useful over hurdles, PEMBROKE is built for chasing and made an encouraging start over fences when runner-up at Uttoxeter 3 weeks ago, travelling best through the race. He can take a step forward from that experience to go one better, while General Officer is also open to progress and can reverse the form with Chapel Green from when the pair met last time.

This small but intriguing field may be led home by CHAPEL GREEN who appears to have scope for significant further progress.

LTO Selection:

16:20 Aintree NH Flat Race (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sweet Honey B won a point-to-point over 2m and the daughter of Getaway, who is related to plenty of useful performers, commands a fair amount of respect on her Rules debut. Coco Brave and Tellitasitis are others who boast smart pedigrees and represent yards that have a fine record in this sphere, but JUST A MEMORY makes the most appeal. Warren Greatrex won this contest with La Bague Au Roi back in 2015 and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Lambourn handler unleash another potentially smart recruit.

LADY JAGO was successful on her only start between the flags and makes plenty of appeal now switched to Rules. Fellow point winner Lady In The Park is an obvious threat and Betty's Tiara is a player if taking her chance.

Most of the runners are newcomers or rules debutantes. LADY JAGO is the suggestion, ahead of Lady In The Park.
