1st (5) (16/5 +20%) Not Now Nathaniel |
16/5(+20%) | (5) Not Now Nathaniel 16/5, Made ideal start when scoring at Newcastle in January and not disgraced in stronger bumpers during the spring. In good hands ahead of this hurdles debut fitted with a hood. Bumper winner; not beaten far in Grade 2 here last month; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (16/1 -220%) The Eventmaster |
16/1(-220%) | (4) The Eventmaster 16/1, Fat too free on debut but fitted with a hood and much more like it when placed in a pair of bumpers in August/September. Form nothing to get carried away with but this isn't a deep novice hurdle. Second in two Worcester bumpers last summer but the form looks very ordinary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/11 +42%) Roaring Legend |
4/11(+42%) | (1) Roaring Legend 4/11, Fairly useful on Flat for James Ferguson and promising start over hurdles when runner-up in juveniles at Kempton and Musselburgh this winter. Had a breathing op and made the most of drop in class when readily landing the odds at Chepstow 3 weeks ago. Very much the one to beat. Fairly useful Flat racer who easily won a Cheptstow maiden hurdle last month; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (22/1 -193%) Havana Party |
22/1(-193%) | (2) Havana Party 22/1, Fairly useful on Flat, stays 1¼m, won 3 of last 4 starts so clearly in good order ahead of this hurdles bow with blinkers retained. In career-best form on the Flat this year; a possible if he takes to hurdling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A wind procedure helped ROARING LEGEND finish his race out with much more conviction when breaking his duck over hurdles at Chepstow. There should be more to come from Olly Murphy's gelding and he is taken to defy a 7lb penalty. Not Now Nathaniel posted a respectable seventh in the Grade 2 mares' bumper here last month and she may serve the most resistance to the selection, while fellow hurdles debutant Havana Party arrives in top form from the Flat.
ROARING LEGEND bossed inferior opposition at Chepstow 3 weeks ago and is fancied to put his hurdles experience to good use and successfully concede weight all round here. Havana Party has already had a good 2024 on the level and is a threat if taking to hurdling, along with Not Now Nathaniel.
Olly Murphy's ROARING LEGEND opened his hurdling account with minimal fuss three weeks ago and sets a pretty good form standard.

Francky Du Berlais |
(4) (14/1 +0%)14/1(+0%) | (4) Francky Du Berlais 14/1, Winless since the Summer Plate at Market Rasen 22 months ago and arrives on the back of 2 poor runs. Others preferred. Good servant to connections over the years but needs to prove his wellbeing here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (11/2 +15%) Raffle Ticket |
11/2(+15%) | (2) Raffle Ticket 11/2, Low mileage 10-y-o who has developed into a better chaser than hurdler, pulling clear with an unexposed sort to score at Doncaster (20.5f, soft) in January. Struggled in the mud at Exeter since and type to bounce back. Could still be well treated after Doncaster win two runs ago; ground the excuse last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 +35%) Soul Icon |
13/8(+35%) | (3) Soul Icon 13/8, Likeable and prolific handicap hurdler who has been knocking on the door over fences, runner-up at Kempton and Ayr last 2 starts. Big shout back down in class. Ended last season with two creditable seconds; likely contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/2 +0%) Northern Bound |
9/2(+0%) | (8) Northern Bound 9/2, Shaped well after 6 months off without his usual headgear when second of 9 in handicap chase (15/2) at Chepstow (19.4f, good) 21 days ago, coming from much further back than the winner on a card that hardly favoured such tactics. Cheekpieces back on. Merits consideration. Has very good chase strike-rate and ran well last month, after a break; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (66/1 +0%) Flic Ou Voyou |
66/1(+0%) | (5) Flic Ou Voyou 66/1, Enhanced his fine record at Wincanton with another victory in handicap 15 months ago. However, well held all 4 starts since, leaving Paul Nicholls prior to penultimate start. Eight-time winner for Paul Nicholls but has struggled on both starts for current stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (25/1 -56%) The Big Bite |
25/1(-56%) | (6) The Big Bite 25/1, Narrow winner of Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury 15 months ago but offered little last term so has plenty to prove. Looked out of sorts last season and arrives here with a lot to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/2 -22%) Homme Public |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Homme Public 11/2, Multiple winner over hurdles who has found improvement since switched to the larger obstacles and posted a career best when taking 5-runner handicap chase at Doncaster (16.4f, soft). Found out in better company in Red Rum here since but this less competitive. 3-5 over fences since the autumn; on fairly tough mark now but still enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (25/1 -108%) Getaway Luv |
25/1(-108%) | (9) Getaway Luv 25/1, Back to form after a wind-op when notching his third win of the season in a 3-runner handicap chase at Carlisle (15.9f, soft, 8/1) and not disgraced in better race there following week. Not taken lightly. Ran quite well on slower-than-ideal ground last month but others here appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (4/1 -14%) Amrons Sage |
4/1(-14%) | (7) Amrons Sage 4/1, Won sole outing in Irish points and progressive winner over hurdles last season. Positive start to chasing when second in handicap at Exeter on return in November but proved a major let-down at Newbury following month and off since. Remains unexposed. Second on chase debut in November; off since lesser effort in December; still considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HOMME PUBLIC shouldn't be judged too harshly on his seventh-placed finish in the Red Rum at the Aintree Festival last month. The seven-year-old still has room for improvement over fences, particularly now facing a stiffer test of stamina, and this drop into class 3 company could help him regain the winning thread. The biggest threat may emerge from Soul Icon, who arrives on the back of runner-up efforts at Kempton and Ayr. Northern Bound is also noted.
SOUL ICON is a winner in waiting over fences now after a stuttering start and this looks a decent opportunity back down in class. Northern Bound was an eye-catching second back from a break at Chepstow 3 weeks ago and is feared most ahead of the unexposed Amrons Sage.
Runner-up without his usual headgear last month, NORTHERN BOUND can be very dangerous here if that outing has brought him on.

1st (9) (66/1 -164%) Pyramid Place |
66/1(-164%) | (9) Pyramid Place 66/1, Took a step forward when landing the Silver Trophy at Chepstow (19.5f) in October. Ran well next time, before being left poorly placed in a competitive event at Haydock (24.3f) when last seen in November, his sole outing for Syd Hosie. Has something to find. Absent since down-the-field finish in November and resumes on fairly tough mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 +6%) Masaccio |
15/2(+6%) | (7) Masaccio 15/2, Made a winning hurdles debut at Chepstow in October and better form in defeat at Newbury next 2 starts. Completed a simple task in a Kempton novice (21f) in February, before shaping as if amiss on his handicap bow last time. It still remains early days for him, though. Dual novice winner last season; flopped on handicap debut but can bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (25/1 +0%) Wonderwall |
25/1(+0%) | (11) Wonderwall 25/1, Useful bumper/hurdle winner for Richard Spencer. Not disgraced when fourth of 7 in novice handicap at Cheltenham on his chase debut in November, but his form has gone the wrong way back over hurdles for his current yard on his last 3 starts. Not much has gone to plan for new stable this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 +10%) Geromino |
18/1(+10%) | (4) Geromino 18/1, Returned to winning ways back over hurdles around the turn of the year, recording back-to-back victories at Doncaster under this rider. Run of good form has come to a halt on his last 2 starts, though. Has very good strike-rate but ended last season with two below-par runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (9/1 +44%) Magical Maggie |
9/1(+44%) | (12) Magical Maggie 9/1, Got back on the up when winning for the fourth time over hurdles in mares handicap at Ludlow (15.8f) in December. Has continued in decent heart since, fifth of 18 at Cheltenham (16.8f) a month ago. Can give her running once more. Has not made any further progress since Ludlow win in December; tries a new trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (14/1 +13%) Red Risk |
14/1(+13%) | (1) Red Risk 14/1, Won twice back hurdling in 2022 and good second in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby in November. Hasn't gone on from that effort, but a bit more encouragement when seventh of 17 at Sandown (19.8f) 20 days ago. Task is now to back up his latest run. Very good second in Grade 2 in November but not in the same form again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (3/1 +54%) Petit Tonnerre |
3/1(+54%) | (6) Petit Tonnerre 3/1, Useful hurdler who didn't convince with his jumping tried chasing last season. Back over hurdles at the end of the campaign, needed a stiffer test when mid-field at Ayr (16f) in April, finishing with running left. One to note back up in trip. Not beaten far in Scottish Champion last month and today's longer trip will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (15/2 -67%) King Alexander |
15/2(-67%) | (5) King Alexander 15/2, After 3 months off, produced his best effort yet when cruising clear for success in an Exeter handicap (18.5f) in November. Found it tougher in the Lanzarote at Kempton (21f) next time, but he's not discounted given the promise of his previous run. Safely held in Lanzarote in January but impressed on handicap debut two starts ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (9/2 +10%) Alnilam |
9/2(+10%) | (8) Alnilam 9/2, Fairly useful winner on the Flat who easily landed a Kelso novice hurdle in February. Resumed winning ways on first start since leaving Anthony Charlton when scoring at the same course (18.1f) in April and he could have more to offer now handicapping. Key contender. Won Kelso novice on stable debut and is now 2-4 over hurdles; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (25/1 -233%) Get A Tonic |
25/1(-233%) | (2) Get A Tonic 25/1, Quickly reverted to hurdling, proved at least as good as ever when making all at Newbury (20.5f) in December. However, hasn't been in the same form both starts since, so she needs to get back on track. Twice safely held since front-running win at Newbury in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (9/2 -80%) Meatloaf |
9/2(-80%) | (10) Meatloaf 9/2, Dual-bumper winner who overcame greenness to make a successful debut over hurdles in novice at Wincanton (15.2f) in November. After a couple of lesser efforts, back on track when making all at Taunton (19f) last time and he's respected as he goes handicapping. 2-4 in novice hurdles last season and should have some improvement to come in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (33/1 -136%) Benson |
33/1(-136%) | (3) Benson 33/1, Reverted to front-running tactics, gained his sixth win over hurdles at Musselburgh (19.8f) on New Year's Day, but he finished well held on his last 3 starts. Others more persuasive at present (tongue strap left off). Began this year with two good runs but has suffered worrying dip in form since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
More aggressive tactics enabled MEATLOAF to make all at Taunton and a similar approach could make him tough to beat on his handicap bow. A current rating of 124 looks far from insurmountable and Paul Nicholls' charge is taken to complete a double. Petit Tonnerre wasn't beaten far when seventh in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr and this return to 2m4f brings him into the reckoning, while it's too early to write off King Alexander.
ALNILAM made it 2 wins from 4 starts over hurdles when successful at Kelso on his stable debut, in control when making a bad mistake at the last, and he remains capable of better as he makes the switch to handicaps. The 5-y-o is preferred to fellow handicap-debutant Meatloaf, while Petit Tonnerre is interesting with the return to this longer trip likely to suit.
This can go to PETIT TONNERRE, who took a step back in the right direction and was not beaten far in last month's Scottish Champion.

Courtland |
(5) (17/2 -31%)17/2(-31%) | (5) Courtland 17/2, Thrived last summer landing 4 handicap chases (at up to 23f) either side of a fine second in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen in July. Back to winning ways, albeit fortunately, at Hereford in March but finished well held in better company latest and others are more appealing. Won four chases last spring/summer but arrives here with a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (11/1 +0%) Captain Morgs |
11/1(+0%) | (6) Captain Morgs 11/1, Useful but not the most straightforward, hanging left off the bridle (also flashed tail) when second over fences at Huntingdon in November. Poor efforts over hurdles since and comes with risks attached back over the larger obstacles. Ran well in his latest chase but pulled up over hurdles twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (6/1 +20%) Young Buster |
6/1(+20%) | (8) Young Buster 6/1, Much improved sent chasing last term, completing hat-trick in a handicap at Kelso (22.3f, heavy) over Christmas. Back from 12 weeks off when running poorly at Ayr last month, however, and may prefer more cut in the ground. Pulled up at Ayr last month but generally did very well during first season over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (25/1 +0%) Broken Quest |
25/1(+0%) | (9) Broken Quest 25/1, Won 3 on the bounce over this sort of trip during spring 2022 but failed to fire in 2 runs last season after 13 months off, including at Kempton 25 days ago. Soundly beaten when back on good ground last month; younger rivals appeal much more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/2 +21%) Empire Steel |
11/2(+21%) | (1) Empire Steel 11/2, Below par in Topham latest but had returned to winning ways at Kelso (21.6f) previously and remains on a workable mark. Looked as good as ever at Kelso in February, and subsequent defeat can be excused. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/3 +26%) Sail Away |
10/3(+26%) | (4) Sail Away 10/3, Dual winner on good ground in 2022/23 and shaped well on several occasions in defeat last term. Below form at Cheltenham latest but return to flatter track may see him in a better light and he warrants respect. Below form at Cheltenham last month but was placed off this mark in Great Yorkshire Chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (10/1 +17%) Erne River |
10/1(+17%) | (7) Erne River 10/1, Returned to form when landing a handicap chase in first-time cheekpieces at Doncaster (3m) in December and backed that up with good fifth in Premier Handicap over same C&D the following month. Needs to bounce back from a poor effort here last month, though. Perked up by addition of cheekpieces during winter but was back in the doldrums last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (15/8 +46%) Kinondo Kwetu |
15/8(+46%) | (3) Kinondo Kwetu 15/8, Most progressive over fences in 2022/23, making it 6 wins from 8 starts when taking this contest (off 5 lb lower) 12 months ago. Below best in Bet365 Gold Cup latest but had posted a good fourth over C&D previously and must enter calculations. Won this in 2023 and ran another big race over C&D last month; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 -100%) Into Overdrive |
18/1(-100%) | (2) Into Overdrive 18/1, Progressive 5-time winner in 2022 but lightly raced and disappointing since, including over hurdles latest. Back down to last winning mark but percentage call is to look elsewhere. Won five chases in 2022 but was disappointing on both outings last season; revival needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Empire Steel could only manage ninth in the Topham here last month, but he is likely to get a lot closer off a 1lb lower mark now down in grade. However, the vote goes to SAIL AWAY, who failed to fire when finishing ninth in a Grade 2 handicap at Cheltenham last time. He now takes a drop in grade and goes off the same rating, so he looks the one to side with. Last year's winner Kinondo Kwetu completes the shortlist.
Last year's winner KINONDO KWETU should have conditions to suit and may be able to take the prize home again. Empire Steel and Sail Away rate the principal threat.
Last year's winner KINONDO KWETU (nap) ran really well when fourth over C&D last month and is selected to defend his crown.

1st (10) (15/2 +25%) Masked Dance |
15/2(+25%) | (10) Masked Dance 15/2, Much improved for switch to handicaps, second twice prior to running out a dominant winner at Doncaster (19.5f, soft) in January. Pulled up at Ludlow in February but shaped as if back in form when fourth of 7 back there last month. 25l win at Doncaster in January wasn't missed by the handicapper; more needed again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/2 +54%) My Chiquita |
11/2(+54%) | (3) My Chiquita 11/2, Fair handicapper on Flat and won first 2 starts over hurdles in October. Lost her unbeaten hurdle record but caught the eye when fourth of 11 in handicap at Hereford (19.5f) 10 days ago, travelling well long way. Interesting. Lost unbeaten hurdles record on recent handicap debut, not helped by many jumping errors. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (11/2 -10%) Majestic Jameela |
11/2(-10%) | (11) Majestic Jameela 11/2, Capitalised on handy opening mark at Plumpton (2m) in February and cranked it up another notch when a decisive scorer at Uttoxeter (2½m) in April. Best work at finish when third of 11 over 17 at Cheltenham since. One to consider back up in distance. Better since handicapping, though 2m1f on good was too sharp latest; mark still tough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (28/1 -180%) Touchy Feely |
28/1(-180%) | (4) Touchy Feely 28/1, Dual hurdles winner. Has failed to complete over fences on her last 2 outings but may fare better back hurdling. Not fully clicked for her over fences; dual mares' hurdle winner; current mark just okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 -18%) Space Voyage |
13/2(-18%) | (2) Space Voyage 13/2, Three novice hurdle wins at the star of 2023. Mixed record since but she bounced back to form to win a 6-runner Perth handicap last month. Only nudged up 2 lb. 5lb re-raise for latest Perth success makes sense; have to hope effects of wind op endure. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (25/1 -25%) Could Be Trouble |
25/1(-25%) | (9) Could Be Trouble 25/1, Hurdles/chase winner who ended a longish losing run from a career-low mark at Catterick (19f, soft) in February. Followed that with a poor run at Musselburgh, though. Catterick win off a career-low mark in March (soft); last home in a de facto 0-121 latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (11/1 -144%) Lady Malarkey |
11/1(-144%) | (13) Lady Malarkey 11/1, Made light of a long absence when springing a 20/1 surprise at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) last month on her first outing for the Ryan Potter yard. Also a winner over this trip. Claims if she can string good runs together. Shrugged off 22-month break on successful stable debut; longer trip/good ground are fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (18/1 +45%) Maroochi |
18/1(+45%) | (14) Maroochi 18/1, Deservedly shed maiden tag when dead heating at Newton Abbot (21.5f, good to soft) in September 2022 but hasn't scored since. Latest Wincanton third in February was respectable but it's likely that wait for another win will go on from well out of the handicap. 1-26, back up in class and racing from 13lb out of the weights, which looks a big ask. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (33/1 -65%) Simply Red |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Simply Red 33/1, Enhanced excellent Bangor record with 2 wins there last summer for Donald McCain. Well held in 2 Flat outings for new yard last month but may fare better back hurdling. Refusal to settle better is very much back on the evidence of two recent Flat outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (11/1 +8%) Sammy's Guarantee |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Sammy's Guarantee 11/1, Much improved (after a breathing op) when taking a 14-runner novice hurdle at Doncaster (2m, soft) in January. Second on handicap debut next time and shaped as if still in good form when fifth of 7 at Huntingdon (20.5f, good) on latest start. Winter's Doncaster novice win form has been built upon since; has little in hand of mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (28/1 -100%) Brave Jen |
28/1(-100%) | (8) Brave Jen 28/1, Has some fair form over hurdles but ran no sort of race on 2m Newbury handicap debut in March. The stable was under a bit of a cloud at the time, though, and she might do better back from a break. Head second in a Listed mares' novice last December but a long way shy of that form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (7/1 +56%) Salsada |
7/1(+56%) | (1) Salsada 7/1, Useful Flat winner who was placed twice in 2m handicap hurdles in March and a below-par run in last month's Scottish Champion Hurdle can be forgiven as she faced a stiff task from out of the handicap. Faces her easiest ever handicap hurdle task here, but no certainty that 2m4f is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (15/2 -88%) Mellificent |
15/2(-88%) | (5) Mellificent 15/2, Fairly useful bumper winner who made a successful start over hurdles in 9-runner novice at Carlisle (2½m, soft) in October. Better form in defeat at listed level since and unexposed now handicapping. 20l fifth in a Listed novice latest (2m4.5f, good); more needed to defy initial mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (11/1 +21%) Nora The Xplorer |
11/1(+21%) | (12) Nora The Xplorer 11/1, Pair of mares' novice wins at up to 3m for Donald McCain in early in 2022 and plenty of creditable efforts in handicaps since. Not seen for 11 months but it'll be interesting to see what the betting makes of her with new stable among the winners. Absence since last June isn't a worry; winless in handicaps but back on a career-low mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Space Voyage got up by a neck at Perth and should remain competitive off a 2lb higher rating, but she could find it tough to deny MAJESTIC JAMEELA. Stuart Edmunds' four-year-old reached the frame in a much hotter contest than this at Cheltenham last month and goes off an unchanged mark. With the step up in trip a positive move, she can make it three wins out of her last five starts. Lady Malarkey is another to watch out for.
The return to 2½m will suit MAJESTIC JAMEELA who can continue her fine start to her handicap hurdle career. My Chiquita shaped well on her handicap hurdle debut at Hereford recently and is second choice ahead of last month's Perth scorer Space Voyage.
Proven effective following significant absences, NORA THE XPLORER may prove the answer ahead of Uttoxeter scorer Lady Malarkey.

(2) (40/1 -43%)40/1(-43%) | (2) Ahanaglogh 40/1, Watar gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Mr Mafia. Dam unraced. Placed both starts in points, third last time (Apr 14). Not one to rule out if the market speaks in his favour. Fair third at Cotley on British debut under Martin McIntyre, but others appeal more. |

(6) (66/1 +0%)66/1(+0%) | (6) Top Man Tom 66/1, £7,000 4-y-o, Ask gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdle winner/smart chaser (winner up to 21f) Little Josh. Winning pointer, third last time (May 4). Nephew of smart chaser Little Josh (2-2 in NHF); looked more of a stayer in points lately. |

10/3(+45%) | (3) Bear Market 10/3, €70,000 3-y-o, Yeats gelding. Closely related to 2 winners, including smart hurdler/useful chaser African Gold, stayed 3m,. Won sole start in point bumpers (Mar 10). Makes plenty of appeal on paper and looks the one to beat. Bangor point Flat race winner in March (heavy); of interest despite very different ground. |

12/1(+40%) | (10) Wake Up Hadley 12/1, Berkshire gelding. Dam unraced. Third sole start in points (Mar 30). Worth monitoring in the betting. Representing last year's winning trainer and rider; onepaced third on point debut (2m4f). |

4th (12) (10/3 -33%) Anariza |
10/3(-33%) | (12) Anariza 10/3, No Risk At All filly. Dam (h143) 2m hurdle winner (stayed 2½m). Easy winner sole start in point bumpers (Mar 17). Highly respected on Rules debut. Niece to three bumper scorers; green but still won a point Flat race easily in March. |

5th (1) (6/1 +25%) Prophesea |
6/1(+25%) | (1) Prophesea 6/1, Successful on last of 3 starts in points and followed suit in an Exeter bumper 40 days ago. Should go well again but others might have a bit more talent. Exeter point bumper winner on heavy last month; sharper test concerns as much as penalty. |

6th (11) (66/1 +18%) Callmesusie |
66/1(+18%) | (11) Callmesusie 66/1, Mahler mare. Dam, fair hurdler (winner around 2m), half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Granny Biddy out of 2m hurdle winner (barely stayed 3m) Calomeria. Maiden pointer, last of 3 finishers last time (May 5). Non-stayer in five sub-3m maiden points; case looks that bit less seductive than most. |

7th (8) (9/2 -139%) Bells Of Ufford |
9/2(-139%) | (8) Bells Of Ufford 9/2, 20,000 gns 3-y-o, Galileo gelding. Closely related to 2 winners on Flat, including smart 1¼m-1½m winner Jalmoud and half-brother to a winner. Won sole start in point bumpers (Apr 27). Makes plenty of appeal. By a Derby winner out of an Oaks heroine; did it easily on point Flat race debut (good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (33/1 +18%) Zloty |
33/1(+18%) | (7) Zloty 33/1, Telescope gelding. Half-brother to fair 7f winner Shamfizz. Dam unraced. Runner-up both starts in point bumpers (latest Apr 20). Should be well equiped for this. 8l behind Anariza on point Flat race debut, but 5lb better off here (including claims). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (25/1 -56%) Modder River |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Modder River 25/1, Forever Now gelding. Dam poor maiden hurdler (stayed 2½m). Third sole start in point bumpers, off mark in points at second attempt (Apr 27). Makes plenty of appeal. 2m4f maiden point win latest (good); behind Anariza and Zloty in a point Flat race before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (40/1 -60%) Pink Eyed Pancho |
40/1(-60%) | (9) Pink Eyed Pancho 40/1, Ask gelding. Closely related to fair hurdler/useful chaser Pink Eyed Pedro. Dam (c94) 19f hunter chase winner. Placed on second of 2 starts in points (Apr 27). Not dismissed. Closely related to Pink Eyed Pedro; readily burned off by Bells Of Ufford at Ystradowen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BELLS OF UFFORD, a son of Galileo out of Oaks heroine Dancing Rain, took his only point-to-point start in pleasing fashion last month and now makes his debut under Rules. Tim Vaughan's four-year-old can make an impression on his first outing, with his main danger possibly Anariza, who makes her bumper introduction after justifying short odds between the flags in fine style in March. Any market support for Bear Market or Modder River would be interesting.
BEAR MARKET is related to a smart hurdler and won his only start in bumpers, so he gets the nod without the benefit of market clues. Bells of Ufford is an obvious danger and Anariza can get involved.
Regally bred as point bumper horses go, easy Ystradowen scorer BELLS OF UFFORD is readily preferred ahead of Miami Magic.
Ths is the racecard key.
