|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() The Kalooki Kid |
28/1(-12%) | (9) The Kalooki Kid 28/1, Improved again when won a handicap chase at Musselburgh by 3l last time with bit in hand; steadily progressive; off a short-break; plenty more needed to figure up in class Stylish wins in handicaps the last twice; it remains to be seen where his limitations lie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Fascile Mode |
150/1(-88%) | (3) Fascile Mode 150/1, Fell in Nas Na Riogh Novice Handicap Chase (Listed) at Navan latest when booked for midfield; form of debut win working out well; good ground key but vulnerable in this grade Won on chase debut at Punchestown in October but has had jumping issues since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Jango Baie flew home from what looked an impossible position to win the Arkle and this extra half-mile should certainly suit, while Gidleigh Park's Windsor triumph took a huge boost when the runner-up Caldwell Potter came out and slammed his rivals in the novices' handicap at the Festival. However, Irish raiders CROKE PARK and Impaire Et Passe make most appeal. The latter won a thrilling renewal of the Aintree Hurdle 12 months ago and warrants plenty of respect in first-time cheekpieces, but Gordon Elliott's charge had his measure at the Dublin Racing Festival and could confirm that superiority. The strapping seven-year-old has improved throughout this season and another step forward would make him difficult to beat.
The step back up in trip should be a firm plus for Arkle winner JANGO BAIE and he earns the vote ahead of Gidleigh Park.

150/1(-50%) | (10) Terrorise 150/1, Down the field in a handicap over 10f at York most recent; 10f flat winner last spring; up in trip; faces stiff task on hurdle debut Fair 1m2f Flat winner but big outsider at this level on hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
It should come as little surprise that the majority of previous winners of this contest raced in the Triumph Hurdle beforehand, but Willy De Houelle and Gibbs Island represent this year's form and were unable to land a blow at Cheltenham. Live Conti had little difficulty in disposing of his rivals on his stable/UK bow at Wetherby and must enter the reckoning. However, marginal preference is for PUTURHANDSTOGETHER, who showed an opening mark of 130 to be all wrong in the Fred Winter. The Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding impressed with his high cruising speed and this sharper track should play to his strengths. Stablemate Naturally Nimble arrives on the back of a respectable fourth in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown and isn't out of it.
A ready success in the strong Fred Winter handicap at Cheltenham suggests PUTURHANDSTOGETHER (nap) can cut it at Grade 1 level.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Saved for this having swerved the Gold Cup, GREY DAWNING should be cherry ripe after a comfortable success at Kelso. Runner-up in the Betfair Chase before disappointing in the King George, the eight-year-old has a preference for going left-handed and remains unexposed over staying trips. Similar to the selection, Spillane's Tower didn't show his true colours in the Kempton showpiece, but he has strong claims on the form of his previous second to Fact To File in the John Durkan. Jimmy Mangan's charge may prefer softer ground, but he thrived this time last year and is a leading contender. Ahoy Senor fell in the Gold Cup, but has been runner-up in the last two renewals of this contest. Gaelic Warrior may not have shown much in two starts at Leopardstown this campaign, but he scored over 3m at Punchestown as a novice hurdler and stepping back up in trip could be a shrewd move by Willie Mullins.
In a notable clash between two very smart and largely progressive chasers, SPILLANE'S TOWER gets the vote ahead of Grey Dawning.

17/2(-6%) | (7) Wodhooh 17/2, Ideally suited by trip when won Martin Pipe at Cheltenham by 4 1/4l last time; steadily progressive and unbeaten over hurdles; gets weight from rivals; outside claims up in grade but must improve again Won Martin Pipe; tough task in first Grade 1 but can pick up the pieces if big two misfire. |

5th (3) ![]() Tellherthename |
80/1(+20%) | (3) Tellherthename 80/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Kelso latest where went far too fast; outclassed when tried at the top level previously; not proven trip; difficult to fancy Lightly raced and the step up in trip may suit but he has bundles to find on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) ![]() Constitution Hill |
1/1(-20%) | (1) Constitution Hill 1/1, Winner of eight G1s; unbeaten until fell in Champion Hurdle (Grade 1) over 2m at Cheltenham latest when still travelling well; hasn't quite proved up to previous level since lay off; the one to beat if anywhere near best and jumping holds up Fell in Champion Hurdle; not at brilliant best in victory this term, but a leading player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
A dramatic Champion Hurdle saw CONSTITUTION HILL lose his unbeaten record when coming to grief four from home, but Nicky Henderson's superstar remains the one to beat. Returning to further should allow the 2023 winner to get into more of a rhythm, as could the flatter nature of this circuit. He put main market rival Lossiemouth in her place at Kempton on Boxing Day and it is difficult to envisage Willie Mullins' grey, who skipped the Champion Hurdle to land a second Mares' Hurdle in impressive fashion, turning that form around. Wodhooh, now seven from seven over timber after bolting up in the Martin Pipe, looks well worth a try at this significantly higher level.
Constitution Hill beat LOSSIEMOUTH in the Christmas Hurdle but the mare is taken to gain revenge over this longer trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Famous Clermont was successful in the 2023 renewal of this contest and comes into this event off the back of an easy success between the flags, so must be respected. Runner-up in this for the last two years, Bennys King is back for another crack at the grand old age of 14 and his triumph at Leicester confirmed he retains plenty of enthusiasm for the game, but it may pay to side with MY DROGO. The 10-year-old beat Gracchus De Balme (second) and Jet Plane (third) when victorious at Haydock in February and that might have put him spot on for this.
The stylish manner in which FAMOUS CLERMONT ran away with this race two years ago is by no means a faded memory. He has his ground.

Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore have teamed up to win this twice since 2019 and can strike again courtesy of THE FOLKES TIARA. The nine-year-old arrives fresher than most after a two-race campaign that saw him so nearly supplement a Fairyhouse Listed success at Leopardstown's Christmas fixture. My Mate Mozzie seems to dance every dance when it comes to big Festivals and ran his usual honest race in defeat in the Grand Annual. General Medrano was eighth there, with Primoz further back and never involved, although better is expected from Lucinda Russell's novice. Last year's winner Sans Bruit returns on the same mark, but has ground to make up on Dr T J Eckleburg from a meeting at Chepstow.
The change in ground conditions will catch out a few but not MY MATE MOZZIE who ran another excellent race at Cheltenham last month.

SEO LINN justified strong market support when readily winning a Listed bumper at the Cheltenham November Meeting and this has presumably been the plan ever since. The way in which she travelled and quickened that day, and given her Flat pedigree, the test that Aintree offers could be even more up her street and she gets the vote as a result. Jackie Hobbs still looked a little green when winning at Ascot but eventually won with plenty in hand. Providing this stiff test doesn't come too soon in her development, she is likely to be bang there at the finish. Charisma Cat would have beaten Kingston Queen in another couple of strides at Market Rasen and she subsequently took Listed honours at Sandown. Strong Run, Betty's Daisy and Blue Betty are others to keep an eye on.
Unbeaten JACKIE HOBBS is first choice ahead of Betty's Daisy who is another smart prospect.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
