1st (8) ![]() Toad Hall |
4/7(+52%) | (8) Toad Hall 4/7, Runner-up only start in bumpers in 2023 and highly encouraging run back from 2 years off when filling same spot in 10-runner maiden hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f) 5 weeks ago. Rates a likely improver for leading stable and he merits serious consideration. Recent comeback second makes him the one to beat if handling quicker ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Quantum Quest |
9/2(+18%) | (5) Quantum Quest 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 12 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (20f, good to soft, 11/1) 27 days ago. Stable having good spell. Merits consideration on pick of form. Definite promise in 2m4f maidens but 6l to find with Arabian Diamond on Leopardstown run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Game On |
6/1(+25%) | (3) Game On 6/1, Jack Hobbs gelding who left hurdling debut form a long way behind when second of 16 in novice hurdle (8/1) at Thurles (15.6f, good) 15 days ago. Significantly up in trip and he may do better again. Thurles second encouraging; step up in trip should suit too. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Seven Towns |
250/1(-279%) | (11) Seven Towns 250/1, Poet's Word gelding. Dam 1¼m winner. Likely outsider on racecourse bow. Newcomer best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Savant Du Mesnil |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Savant Du Mesnil 33/1, Doctor Dino gelding who stepped up on his hurdles debut form when sixth of 15 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, good) 13 days ago. Will have handicaps as an option after this and percentage call to look elsewhere. Likely to need more time and appears the owner's second string here behind Quantum Quest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Having A Cut |
200/1(-400%) | (10) Having A Cut 200/1, €10,000 3-y-o, Affinisea gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Princely Player and useful chaser Kings Temptation. Dam 1½m winner on Flat in France. Debutant 4yo likely all the better for the experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Retreat Archie |
150/1(+0%) | (6) Retreat Archie 150/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 200/1, twelfth of 15 in novice hurdle at Naas (18.5f, good to soft) 50 days ago. Low-grade handicaps will be more his bag. Return to better ground should suit but lots to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Arabian Diamond |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Arabian Diamond 4/1, Fairly useful hurdler who ran creditably on the back of 7 months off when third of 12 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (20f, good to soft, 5/1) 27 days ago. May be sharper with that run under his belt and fancied to be in the mix. Likes this decent ground and 120-rated 7yo sure to be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) ![]() There's Always One |
50/1(0%) | (9) There's Always One 50/1, Kingston Hill mare. Dam (h67), lightly raced over jumps, sister to useful hurdler/high-class chaser (stayed 21f) Riders Onthe Storm. Wears tongue strap. Well-related mare but likely best watched here on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Quality Control |
80/1(-142%) | (4) Quality Control 80/1, Once-raced maiden. Eleventh of 12 in novice hurdle (14/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) on NH debut 36 days ago, tailed off. Significantly up in trip. Never counted on Fairyhouse debut last month when stable neglected; watching brief advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() All Eyez On Me |
150/1(-200%) | (2) All Eyez On Me 150/1, Jack Hobbs gelding who failed to complete all 3 starts between the flags and offered little when sixth of 8 in novice hurdle at Thurles (16.2f, good) on Rules debut 122 days ago. Passed over. Faded quite tamely on hurdles debut at Thurles in November; best watched for now. |
TOAD HALL has clearly had training issues but has nonetheless run two solid races in his career to date. He made a belated debut as a six-year-old when second in a Clonmel bumper and, while he was then absent for 690 days, chased home a subsequent Grade 3 winner at Punchestown last month. A reproduction of that form would see him difficult to beat and he readily holds Game On on that form, although that rival showed more at Thurles recently. Arabian Diamond will be suited by drying ground.
TOAD HALL produced a highly promising effort on the back a near 2-year absence when runner-up on hurdles debut at Punchestown 5 weeks ago and, with improvement on the cards, he looks to hold sound claims of going one place better. Arabian Diamond and Quantum Quest can give Willie Mullins' 8-y-o most to think about.
Providing he handles this quicker ground TOAD HALL looks the one to beat on the back of a fine comeback run last month

1st (2) ![]() Hartswood |
13/2(+28%) | (2) Hartswood 13/2, Back to form when scoring at Newcastle in January and made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts back there (8f) just over 4 weeks ago, better placed than most in a race run a steady tempo. Nudged up 2 lb and this previous C&D winner shouldn't be underestimated in his current mood. Won on last visit here in September and returns having been in good form on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (22) ![]() Mr Jetman |
8/1(+68%) | (22) Mr Jetman 8/1, Had slipped below his winning mark and returned to form on first outing since leaving Ivan Furtado after 7 weeks off when third at Newcastle earlier this month, well positioned. Mark unchanged and he could hit the frame with a repeat back on turf. Close third over Newcastle's 1m 17 days ago and that was his first run for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (21) ![]() Rising Force |
25/1(-25%) | (21) Rising Force 25/1, Ended a long losing run at Chelmsford last year and has already hit the crossbar 3 times this year, latest at Southwell (8.1f) earlier in the month. Not seen on turf since August 2023 but folly to ignore. Nearly won at Southwell this month but that's always been more his scene. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Yeoman |
11/1(+31%) | (5) Yeoman 11/1, Losing run is mounting and he continues to hold himself back at the start, typically giving his running when fifth at Southwell (8.1f) just over 2 weeks ago. This a very rare turf outing and the percentage call is to look elsewhere. Has done well to finish so close the last twice after missing the break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) ![]() Calanthe |
14/1(-75%) | (11) Calanthe 14/1, Made a winning handicap debut at Lingfield last year and largely consistent since. Didn't look the easiest ride which perhaps explains his strike rate when third at Southwell (8.1f) earlier in the month and is back on the turf (on Flat) for the first time since his debut. Another good effort on the AW last time; this is only his second Flat run on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (15) ![]() Liberated Lad |
50/1(+0%) | (15) Liberated Lad 50/1, Won 4 times last year but has seemingly lost the plot since scoring at Newcastle in January, going with no encouragement at Chelmsford earlier this month. Cheekpieces back on for his return to turf but he looks an easy swerve. Has struggled in his last three races on the AW and all his wins have been at 1m2f+. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (20) ![]() Al Suil Eile |
22/1(+33%) | (20) Al Suil Eile 22/1, Capitalised on a falling mark when registering a fourth course success at Southwell earlier in the month, helped by being held up in strongly run race. Not in the same form under a penalty back there since and this is his first turf start since 2021. Won a similar race under Megan Jordan two goes back and this should be run to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Serenity Dream |
6/1(+40%) | (8) Serenity Dream 6/1, Yet to get off the mark for current connections and operating below his best this year, mid-field at Southwell (7.1f) earlier this month. Hopes pinned on more severe headgear doing the trick. Ability is there should the new visor work; being drawn in stall 1 might not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (17) ![]() Zous Juice |
28/1(-100%) | (17) Zous Juice 28/1, Little to shout about last year, including when well beaten on handicap debut at Pontefract when last seen in July. Has only had a handful of starts though but will need a jolt of improvement to take this competitive event. Well held in 7f/1m novices and the same again on handicap debut last summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) ![]() Love Your Work |
25/1(+0%) | (7) Love Your Work 25/1, Hit the target 3 times last year and resumed winning ways with a 25/1 shock at Chelmsford earlier in the month. Not in the same form at Lingfield (8f) just 6 days ago and hard to know what mood this 9-y-o will arrive in (isn't the easiest to catch right). Tends to run his better races on the AW and he's rather in and out on those surfaces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) ![]() Warning Sign |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Warning Sign 7/2, Consistent performer who finished runner-up for fourth consecutive time at Ascot in October, nearest finish. Probably remained in form given his track position when fifth at Newbury (12f, heavy) on final outing of the season and could be significant that he makes his reappearance over 1m. Threatened last year under David Dunsdon and definite chance if resuming in good order. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) ![]() Havana Prince |
12/1(+0%) | (10) Havana Prince 12/1, In rude health on the Flat last summer, finishing campaign with his third victory in 4 starts when winning 14-runner handicap at Redcar (7f, good to firm) in July. Probably needed the run back on all-weather after 7 months off at Newcastle recently and this should reveal where he's at. Front-runner who may have needed his last race; jockey is respected in these races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (16) ![]() Amaysmont |
33/1(-175%) | (16) Amaysmont 33/1, Won 4 times on all-weather last year and picked up from where he'd left off 8 weeks prior with another placed effort at Chelmsford (7f) earlier this month. Should give a good account from the same mark. In form but nagging concern is that seven of his eight wins have been on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (13) ![]() Petra Celera |
28/1(-27%) | (13) Petra Celera 28/1, Dual winner last year but out of sorts at present, never featuring when fourth at Newcastle (7.1f) earlier in the month. Is now 3 lb below her last winning mark but she needs to show more before becoming of interest. Worth another go at 1m but she's not yet hit top gear this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (14) ![]() Cathedral Peak |
14/1(-75%) | (14) Cathedral Peak 14/1, Shaped promisingly when fifth of 15 on handicap debut at Gowran (8.3f, heavy) back in October on final outing for Joseph O'Brien, finishing well having had a hopeless task from position. Switched yards later that month (15,000 gns) and she remains open to improvement. No closer than 5l in four runs for Joseph O'Brien, including one handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (1) ![]() Al Mudhaffar |
16/1(-45%) | (1) Al Mudhaffar 16/1, Dundalk winner for Joseph O'Brien around this time last year, but yet to really get going in 3 starts for his new handler, a first-time visor failing to spark him back to life at Southwell (8.1f) when last seen 3 months ago. Cheekpieces back on for a return to turf but probably best watched. Won over 1m on the AW in Ireland; comfortably held in three starts for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (19) ![]() Addosh |
33/1(-83%) | (19) Addosh 33/1, In-an-out for James Owen over both hurdles and on Flat but reasonable first effort for this yard when sixth in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (15.8f, good) earlier in the month. Reverts to the level but other seemingly have more solid credentials. Down the field on stable debut at Huntingdon 18 days ago and others are more intriguing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (12) ![]() Crownthorpe |
50/1(+0%) | (12) Crownthorpe 50/1, Operating below best when last seen 11 months ago so he's hard to enthuse over despite a much-reduced mark. Wasn't in good form when last seen 11 months ago and he's a 10yo now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
19th (4) ![]() Poet's Dawn |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Poet's Dawn 50/1, On the scoresheet at Carlisle back in August but struggled for consistency thereafter, shaping better than the distance beaten suggested but failing to get home when last seen at Redcar (10f, soft) 5 months ago. Will probably need this outing. This exposed 10yo lacks a recent run and rider is short in experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20th (6) ![]() Angel Of England |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Angel Of England 18/1, Gone close a few times for current connections but losing run now stands at fifteen and excuses were hard to come by at Southwell (6.1f) earlier in the month. Career-low mark to work with back on turf and not dismissed with a very experience pilot booked. This return to 1m could be a positive and Simon Walker is booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
21st (18) ![]() Absolutely Buzzing |
40/1(-43%) | (18) Absolutely Buzzing 40/1, 50/1 winner at Chelmsford last summer but shaped as if needing the run on first outing since leaving Michael Wigham after 3 months off back there (10f) last month. Handicapper drops her 2 lb and interesting to see which way she goes in the betting. Sole win and best form has been on the AW; no show on stable debut at Chelmsford. |
This is wide open and only a tentative vote can go to HAVANA PRINCE. The gelded son of Havana Grey was progressive on the turf last season, winning three times, and was perhaps in need of the outing at Newcastle recently. Hartswood has been in good form on the all-weather over the winter months and the previous C&D winner warrants plenty of respect. Others to note include Rising Force, Zous Juice and Calanthe.
An ultra-competitive start to proceedings and it could pay to side with CATHEDRAL PEAK, who shaped well having had a hopeless task from her position at Gowran when last seen 5 months ago and she remains open to improvement starting out for a new yard amongst the winners. The consistent Warning Sign heads up the dangers also making his return, with Hartswood, Calanthe and Rising Force just a handful of others to consider, too.
A minefield. This should be fast-run and YEOMAN has done well to finish so close the last twice after starting slowly.

1st (7) ![]() Tarima |
4/7(+100%) | (7) Tarima 4/7, Lope De Vega filly. Closely related to high-class 1¼m-1½m winner Tarnawa and half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m and Tahiyra and useful 1m-9.4f winner Tazaral. One to note on debut. Of major interest as a close relation to the brilliant Tarnawa, half-sister to Tahiyra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Noli Timere |
12/1(+40%) | (6) Noli Timere 12/1, €235,000 yearling, Starspangledbanner filly. 33/1, offered little when last of 14 in minor event at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) on debut in September. This should reveal more on return from 6 months off. Never involved in the Goffs Million on only start at two, has had ample time to mature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Made U Blush |
18/1(-80%) | (5) Made U Blush 18/1, Twice-raced filly who again ran to a fair level when sixth of 14 in maiden (9/2) at Dundalk (7f) in October. Absent since and she looks the type to do better in handicaps moving forward. Showed promise in two starts at two, open to improvement but probably vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Crystal Ball |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Crystal Ball 6/1, Wootton Bassett filly. Half-sister to several winners, including high-class winner up to North American/British winner 9f Tepin and smart US 6.5f-8.5f winner Vyjack. Highly respected on debut. Noteworthy as half-sister to the top-class Tepin who has become influential as a broodmare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Intensify |
5/1(-122%) | (4) Intensify 5/1, Lope De Vega filly. Sister to very smart winner up to 8.5f Newspaperofrecord and 1m winner Classic Times. Dam winner up to 7f (2-y-o 6f winner). Makes plenty of appeal on paper. Sister to Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Fillies winner Newspaperofrecord, Classic-entered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Arctic Steps |
150/1(-88%) | (2) Arctic Steps 150/1, Once-raced filly. 10/1, hinted at ability when sixth of 14 in maiden at Down Royal (7.1f, soft) on debut. Off 6 months. First run for yard after leaving Mrs J. Harrington. Beaten 10l in sixth at Down Royal on only start for Jessica Harrington, plenty to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Academe |
20/1(+39%) | (1) Academe 20/1, Acclamation filly. Half-sister to 7f/1m winner Serialise. Dam 7f winner. Finished fifth of 8 in barrier trial at Naas in 2024 and the betting can likely prove a good guide here. Second foal, half-sister to the trainer's 7f/1m winner Serialise, dam 7f winner on debut. |
INTENSIFY makes plenty of appeal on pedigree being a full-sister to Newspaperofrecord, twice a Grade 1 winner in the USA including the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The dam has produced four other winners including the smart sprinter Classical Times and it will be interesting to see how strong she is in the market. Crystal Ball is a Wootton Bassett half-sister to Tepin, while Tarima hails from a family that Dermot Weld has done very well with in the past, including with Tarnawa and Tahiyra. Made U Blush sets a decent standard among those to have run and is already proven over a mile.
Those with experience don't set a tall standard so this may well go to one of the choicely-bred newcomers, TARIMA, Intensify and Crystal Ball all make plenty of appeal on paper and are preferred in that order before market clues.
The market should provide some clarity but a tentative goes to Tarnawa's close relation TARIMA over Intensify and Crystal Ball

1st (4) ![]() Wicked Thoughts |
1/1(-37%) | (4) Wicked Thoughts 1/1, Bumper winner. Fair form when runner-up on both completed starts in maiden hurdles (also looked set for second when falling 2 out at Doncaster). The obvious danger to Jackstell. Not progressing as hoped but still has strong form claims in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Jackstell |
13/8(-8%) | (3) Jackstell 13/8, Third both starts in maiden points and landed strong support on Tipperary bumper debut for Emmet Mullins last May. Fair form when placed in maiden hurdles at Huntingdon (2m) and Lingfield (19.5f) for Jamie Snowden to end 2024. Leading claims back from a break (has had wind op). Two good runs in maiden hurdles and now returns from a break and wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Flimsy Nosebag |
50/1(+0%) | (1) Flimsy Nosebag 50/1, Third in a course bumper in November but he has failed to build on that since, including 2 maiden hurdles. Outsider again. Ran well in a bumper here but has shown nothing in two maiden hurdles on good to soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() The Pit Popsy |
40/1(+60%) | (5) The Pit Popsy 40/1, Tailed off in 2 bumpers in spring 2023. Offered a lot more when fourth of 8 in 2m Doncaster maiden hurdle on his recent return from a long absence but the form is only modest. Tongue tied first time here. Tailed off in two bumpers and unsure what she achieved when fourth on hurdle debut. |
Jackstell has undergone wind surgery since a slightly disappointing effort at Lingfield and warrants respect on the form of his penultimate second behind the smart Horaces Pearl, but WICKED THOUGHTS shades the verdict. He is rated 5lb higher than Jamie Snowden's gelding and the form of his Hereford second was boosted when the third came out and won next time. Three-time Flat scorer Haaland could prove next best, with Sean Bowen a positive jockey booking.
If JACKSTELL has derived any benefit from a wind op when last seen he might prove a bit too strong for Wicked Thoughts in what may develop into a straight fight between the pair.
A disappointing turnout for a maiden that usually takes some winning. WICKED THOUGHTS is the one they all have to beat.

1st (2) ![]() Seskin Flash |
5/2(+25%) | (2) Seskin Flash 5/2, Well-backed on stable debut when fourth of 19 in handicap hurdle (9/5) at Naas (16f, soft) 21 days ago, hindered by a bad mistake 2 out. Interesting in first-time hood stepping back up in trip. Bit onepaced beaten favourite over 2m on recent yard debut; returns to longer trip now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) ![]() Our Zebo |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Our Zebo 14/1, Maiden hurdler/chaser who was below form when sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (23.8f, good to soft) before disappointing at Ayr following a further 12-weeks off. First-time blinkers need to spark a revival. Pulled up recently at Ayr when not without market support; blinkers replace cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Cher Tara |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Cher Tara 4/1, Ex-Dan Skelton, confirmed promise of stable debut back up in trip when winning 19-runner handicap hurdle at Down Royal (20f, good) 13 days ago. Should be suited by this longer trip and further improvement anticipated from this lightly-raced mare. Saw it out well to win over 2m4f at Down Royal; should stay and could cope with 8lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Kalsman |
20/1(-150%) | (1) Kalsman 20/1, Upped in trip and off the mark when landing a 15-runner handicap hurdle over C&D when last seen in June 2024. Not ruled out if ready to roll after a 9-month absence. C&D winner last June when last seen; 8lb higher on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) ![]() Coco Lightning |
5/1(+9%) | (12) Coco Lightning 5/1, Took a step back in the right direction when third of 15 in 2½m Fairyhouse handicap hurdle on stable debut but failed to justify market support when sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Catterick (19.3f, good to soft) 58 days ago. Looks worth another chance. Fairyhouse third gives her claims although lifeless Catterick run since is worrying. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Ilbdare |
15/2(+38%) | (8) Ilbdare 15/2, Placed effort at Sligo (19.9f) remains a standout effort over hurdles, well below that form when seventh of 14 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy, 18/1) 34 days ago. Cheekpieces added and needs to improve. Heavy ground wouldn't have been ideal on recent return; cheekpieces tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Voice Of Reason |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Voice Of Reason 16/1, Seems to be going through the motions at present, again ran poorly when twelfth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Naas (16f, soft) 21 days ago. Upped in trip but has something to prove at present. Softer ground probably hasn't suited of late so potential improver back on better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) ![]() Doyen Flyer |
10/1(+0%) | (13) Doyen Flyer 10/1, Has become inconsistent and remains a maiden after 20 NH runs. Fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Wexford (19.4f, good to soft, 5/1) on debut over fences 10 days ago. Switches back to hurdles and not dismissed if on a going day. Longstanding maiden can't be ruled out but hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) ![]() Peckham Springs |
22/1(+33%) | (4) Peckham Springs 22/1, Course winner has lost his form, latest effort when tenth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft, 40/1) 28 days ago. Best to look elsewhere. On a long losing run and hard to fancy but handicapper is giving him every chance. |

10th (10) ![]() Fire Force |
66/1(-100%) | (10) Fire Force 66/1, Some promise in maiden hurdles but disappointed on handicap debut. Didn't take to chasing, last of 11 in novice chase (250/1) at Fairyhouse (21.2f, good to soft) 53 days ago on final run Ciaran Murphy. Questions to answer now reverted to hurdles on stable debut. Low-grade maiden hurdler and and nothing of note recently over fences; yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) ![]() Kilkee Royal |
16/1(-14%) | (9) Kilkee Royal 16/1, Hinted at ability in maiden hurdles/handicaps for Jamie Albert Sloan but fell on debut for this yard earlier this month. May find a couple too good in here. First-flight faller on recent return to action when tongue-tie tried on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) ![]() Are We Dancing |
80/1(-60%) | (14) Are We Dancing 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eleventh of 15 in novice hurdle (200/1) at Down Royal (16.9f, good) 13 days ago. Up in trip and cheekpieces on for first time on handicap hurdle debut. Needs more. 4yo can only be watched on handicap debut from 5lb out of handicap; cheekpieces tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (5) ![]() Jimli's Cave |
14/1(0%) | (5) Jimli's Cave 14/1, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle over C&D last October, responding well to positive tactics. Found life harder from a 7 lb higher mark next time and returns from a break racing off the same mark again. C&D winner in October off 7lb lower; excuses next time and back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (3) ![]() Caulaincourt |
66/1(-200%) | (3) Caulaincourt 66/1, Fair winner at 12f on the Flat but made little impression on handicap hurdle debut when sixteenth of 17 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Improvement needed over longer trip. AW winner but underwhelming so far hurdling; bit to find. |
SESKIN FLASH ran well in a big-field Cork handicap in December and while a beaten favourite on his debut for new connections earlier this month, that was his first run for 91 days and he wasn't beaten too far. Cher Tara won at Down Royal recently and should again compete stepping up in distance. Kalsman has been raised 8lb for winning a course-and-distance handicap last June and is also noted.
Gordon Elliott's lightly-raced CHER TARA may well have more to offer over this longer trip and she can follow up her recent Down Royal success. Coco Lightning shaped encouragingly on debut for this yard and is worth another chance after disappointing last time, while Seskin Flash looks interesting stepping back up in distance having been well supported on stable debut.
Recent Down Royal winner CHER TARA should cope with this longer trip and she is taken to defy an 8lb rise

1st (5) ![]() Many Men |
2/1(+60%) | (5) Many Men 2/1, Improved at the second time of asking in nurseries when successful over 1¼m at Newmarket (soft) last October, relishing the longer trip. Pulled well clear with a promising sort so a 4 lb rise looks fair. Improved form on final 2yo start, winning 1m2f event on soft ground at Newmarket. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Chartwell Jock |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Chartwell Jock 4/1, Churchill colt who made the most of a good opportunity in 9.5f Wolverhampton maiden 10 weeks ago. A mark of 80 demands improvement but could easily find it for a leading stable. Unexposed colt who is in good hands and looks interesting on turf/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Modern Utopia |
4/1(-45%) | (1) Modern Utopia 4/1, Improved to easily win nurseries in the mud over 1m at Nottingham and 9f at Newmarket at the end of last season. Should have more to offer in 2025. Ended last season with two emphatic wins and may be capable of further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Pantile Warrior |
11/4(+0%) | (2) Pantile Warrior 11/4, Runner-up 3 times last summer and returned from a gelding operation to go one better in 1¼m Chelmsford maiden 3 weeks ago. An opening mark of 87 isn't obviously generous but he hails from a top yard so improvement would come as no surprise. Straightforward task in AW maiden on reappearance; has strong turf form; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Maywedance |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Maywedance 33/1, Mehmas filly who had 3 outings around 7f last autumn, finishing runner-up at Beverley (good to firm) under Hollie Doyle on the second occasion. Makes handicap debut over a much longer trip after 6 months off. Handicap debutante whose best novice effort is unconvincing form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Mersea Island |
12/1(-33%) | (4) Mersea Island 12/1, Improved with blinkers added when narrowly denied in 1¼m Chelmsford novice in November. Goes without the headgear on this handicap debut and reappearance. Perhaps unsuited by soft going in both turf starts; could be open to improvement. |
PANTILE WARRIOR posted a series of creditable efforts in novice/maiden company last season and the son of Frankel opened his account when returned to action at Chelmsford earlier this month. A mark of 87 looks fair based on what he's already achieved and the three-year-old is expected to double his tally. Chartwell Jock made all of the running at Wolverhampton last time out and is of clear interest now sent handicapping. Modern Utopia struck at Nottingham in October before going in again at Newmarket the following month, though a 10lb higher mark will ask more of her.
MODERN UTOPIA looked potentially very useful when scoring twice last backend and is selected to pick up where she left off. Many Men may have got off lightly with a 4 lb rise for his Newmarket win in October and is second choice ahead of Chartwell Jock.
Back on grass there's every reason to favour PANTILE WARRIOR (nap), whose turf form stacks up well. Chartwell Jock is second pick.

1st (1) ![]() Henri Matisse |
6/4(-36%) | (1) Henri Matisse 6/4, Quickly developed into a smart performer as a juvenile, landing first 3 starts and back on the up when ending last year with success in Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar (1m, firm) in November. Obvious claims in this company on return to action. Breeders' Cup Juvenile hero after a couple of high-profile lapses, can make his class tell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Comanche Brave |
22/1(-83%) | (3) Comanche Brave 22/1, Off the mark at second time of asking in a Cork maiden (6f) in September and improved again when second at listed level a month later. Not in same form when fourth in C&D Group 3 later that month and more needed if he's to play a lead role on return. Listed-placed, soundly beaten on soft ground over C&D in the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Arizona Blaze |
7/4(+22%) | (2) Arizona Blaze 7/4, Useful, consistent juvenile last season who completed simple task back from 4 months off when winning 6-runner minor event at Dundalk (6f, 4/9) 16 days ago, driven clear. Well worth his place back at this higher level on first crack at 7f. Top-class juvenile sprinter, warmed up at Dundalk, big threat to Henri Matisse if he stays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Hazdann |
9/2(+59%) | (4) Hazdann 9/2, Night Of Thunder colt who built on debut promise when winning 14-runner maiden (10/1) at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) last June, always holding on. Clearly remains with a good deal of potential on return and market confidence behind him would look significant. 7f Curragh maiden winner, form well advertised by runner-up Green Impact, smart prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Tribal Nation |
11/1(+21%) | (7) Tribal Nation 11/1, Promising type who continued theme of race-by-race progress when winning 7-runner maiden at Galway (7f, heavy) in October, still green but asserting close home. Type to progress again as a 3-y-o. Rated 90 after Galway maiden win on his third start, hard to fancy at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Rock Of Cashel |
22/1(-10%) | (5) Rock Of Cashel 22/1, Made it second time lucky in a 7f Galway maiden last summer but struggled to make an impact in pattern company thereafter and suspicion he'll come up short again on seasonal bow. Aimed high after his Galway festival maiden win, safely held by stablemate Henri Matisse;. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Spycraft |
66/1(-164%) | (6) Spycraft 66/1, 310,000 gns yearling, Siyouni colt who is bred in the purple and justified good support to make a winning debut in 7-runner Dundalk maiden (7f) in December. In good hands and likely there's a good deal more to come. Has a decent future judged on debut win at Dundalk but this is very demanding. |
HENRI MATISSE showed some wayward tendencies as a juvenile but also plenty of talent when winning four times. The Wootton Bassett colt had Arizona Blaze nearly four lengths behind when landing the Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh and successfully signed off the campaign in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf when stepping up to a mile at Del Mar. Arizona Blaze went close in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint and now tries this trip for the first time having scored in good style over 6f at Dundalk earlier this month. The form of Hazdann's maiden win at the Curragh last summer has worked out exceptionally well and it will be interesting to see how he has progressed.
HENRI MATISSE signed off a highly-productive juvenile campaign with success in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar back in November and, with the drop in trip holding no fears, he's fancied to make a winning return. Easy Dundalk scorer Arizona Blaze, on his first crack at 7f, rates next best, with Hazdann completing the shortlist.
Aidan O'Brien's Grade 1-winning miler HENRI MATISSE may cope better with the distance than Arizona Blaze, a fine sprinter at two

1st (8) ![]() Benvoy |
13/8(+75%) | (8) Benvoy 13/8, Fair maiden on Flat in Ireland and going the right way over hurdles for Jo Davis, making a winning start to his handicap career when seeing off 11 rivals over 2m at Huntingdon in good style earlier this month. Can go well again up 7 lb. Made winning handicap hurdle debut this month and can improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Galactic Charm |
13/2(-63%) | (4) Galactic Charm 13/2, Fairly useful Flat performer who has quickly reached a similar level over hurdles, winning at Fontwell on Boxing Day and running well behind a very good prospect at Huntingdon recently. Respected back in a handicap. Fairly useful Flat racer who has done well over hurdles; set to play another big role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Torrent |
13/2(-8%) | (3) Torrent 13/2, Fair on Flat and has quickly reached a higher level over hurdles, winning pair of early-season juveniles and third in Grade 2s on last 3 starts, albeit well held in the Finesse 9 weeks ago. Should be competitive now handicapping. Placed in three consecutive Grade 2 races since cheekpieces were added; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Star Of Guiting |
17/2(+29%) | (7) Star Of Guiting 17/2, Took a junior hurdle at Exeter in December and made the most of an excellent opportunity at Market Rasen a fortnight ago. Could do better now handicapping. Cosily won three-runner race this month and is now 2-4 over hurdles; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Ocean Conquest |
9/2(-50%) | (6) Ocean Conquest 9/2, Expensive Flat winner in Ireland and has improved with each run over hurdles, sticking to the task behind an easy winner at Newbury 4 weeks ago. Can go well on handicap debut if cutting out the mistakes. Improving with experience over hurdles; kept on for clear second at Newbury last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Moutarde |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Moutarde 12/1, Fair Flat winner in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and started well over hurdles for this yard with victories at Kempton and Taunton. In the process of bouncing back when crashing out at the last in listed juvenile at Musselburgh before finding the Fred Winter too hot. Tongue tie goes on now. Well held in recent Fred Winter but has claims if judged on earlier Musselburgh Listed run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Maitre En Science |
18/1(-50%) | (2) Maitre En Science 18/1, Useful juvenile over 17f in France, winning twice, but has made a distinctly underwhelming start on these shores, easy to back in tongue tie and producing a disappointing finishing effort at Kelso. Cheekpieces added for this handicap debut. Tricky to fancy. 2-3 in France last year but both British runs have been underwhelming; headgear applied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Sauvignon |
16/1(-220%) | (1) Sauvignon 16/1, Dual winner in France, including a listed race, but well below that form in 2 runs in graded contests over here for new yard this year. Difficult to assess at present. Listed hurdle winner in France but well beaten in two Grade 2 races for Paul Nicholls. |
All eight of the declared runners look to have some sort of chance, so STAR OF GUITING receives what can only be a tentative vote. He has performed to a decent level on all four hurdle starts to date, winning two including cheekily at Market Rasen last time, and a mark of 112 certainly doesn't look beyond him. Stablemate Ocean Conquest also merits consideration following two solid runner-up efforts, while Galactic Charm is unlikely to be far away either.
OCEAN CONQUEST should have more to offer in handicaps if jumping better and gets the vote. Huntingdon-winner Benvoy and Torrent are a couple of the other likely players.
The suggestion is BENVOY (nap), who travelled strongly before asserting on his recent handicap debut and could still be well treated.

1st (8) ![]() A Mere Bagatelle |
11/2(-10%) | (8) A Mere Bagatelle 11/2, 10/1, ran well back over hurdles after 6 months off when second of 18 in handicap at Limerick (22.7f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Down in trip. Should be in the mix again. Just denied at Limerick; drop in trip probably not ideal but should give a bold showing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Fool Me Once |
4/1(+64%) | (2) Fool Me Once 4/1, 50/1, eighth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (18.9f, heavy) 31 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Worth another chance to improve on his maiden efforts. First run under rules on decent ground so potential improver in third handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Chortal |
6/1(+40%) | (6) Chortal 6/1, Hasn't gone on from his hurdling debut, well-beaten fifth of 7 in juvenile hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) just over 5 weeks ago. Others more persuasive. 4yo should appreciate this better ground and one of the least exposed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Read To Return |
6/1(+0%) | (7) Read To Return 6/1, One win from 22 NH runs. Underperformed when eighth of 23 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft, 17/2) just over 5 weeks ago, unable to sustain effort. Expected to be bang there back down in trip. Staying sort, drop in trip here hardly likely play to his strengths. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Gamigin |
4/1(+27%) | (3) Gamigin 4/1, Ran better than for a while after 8 weeks off when fourth of 17 in handicap hurdle (11/1) at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Needs to build on that now. Encouraging recent Leopardstown comeback run puts him in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Burren Song |
20/1(+0%) | (5) Burren Song 20/1, 40/1, ran to a similar level to last time after 3 months off when eighth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Others look stronger. Flat winner not as good a hurdler but better for recent run and don't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Tankardstown Diva |
28/1(-100%) | (4) Tankardstown Diva 28/1, Followed a good run with a poor one when pulled up in handicap chase at Navan (20.4f, heavy, 7/2) 29 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Bounce back needed. Hasn't convinced over fences of late; drops in trip on hurdles return with cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Ciao Adios |
10/1(-150%) | (1) Ciao Adios 10/1, Showed improved form to get off the mark over jumps in 18-runner handicap hurdle (9/1) at Cork (16.7f, good to soft) 10 days ago, driven out. Hit with a 10 lb rise but remains unexposed in this sphere so could have more to offer. Relished better ground for recent Cork win; could have more to offer despite 10lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) ![]() Walk In The Sea |
12/1(-33%) | (10) Walk In The Sea 12/1, 25/1, fared better than previously sent handicapping after 9 weeks off when sixth of 19 at Down Royal (20f, good) 13 days ago, every chance when badly hampered 3 out. Tongue strap back on. Looks competitive on form. Recent debut run not without promise; slightly shorter trip could suit too. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) ![]() I'm For Home |
7/1(+72%) | (11) I'm For Home 7/1, Ran respectably without suggesting his turn is imminent when fourth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy, 11/1) 34 days ago. Can give another good account. Signs of return to form at Punchestown recently; 3lb wrong here however. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) ![]() Telnobody |
18/1(-112%) | (9) Telnobody 18/1, Tailed-off fifth of 14 in maiden hurdle (250/1) at Fairyhouse (18.4f, good to soft) just over 11 weeks ago. Hooded for 1st time and appeals as the type to do better in handicaps. Jumping has been an issue in maidens; hooded on handicap debut and hard to be confident in. |
GAMIGIN returned to form earlier this month and will be suited by the drying ground. The selection is a five-time winner who landed a gamble at Kilbeggan last August and a reproduction of his latest Leopardstown run would give him every chance in this winnable race. Three-time winner Ciao Adios won at Cork 10 days ago but has been raised 10lb. A Mere Bagatelle is rated 111 over fences and was narrowly beaten at Limerick recently, but isn't ideally suited by dropping back in distance.
This looks wide open, but A MERE BAGATELLE was narrowly denied back hurdling from 6 months off at Limerick earlier in the month and, with that outing sure to have blown away any cobwebs, he's fancied to go one better at the expense of Read To Return, who underperformed at Fairyhouse last month but should find this easier dropped back in trip. Recent-winner Ciao Adios rounds off the shortlist.
Although a better chaser A MERE BAGATELLE could record a rare hurdles win here on the back of a narrow Limerick defeat

1st (11) ![]() Forty Years On |
14/1(-100%) | (11) Forty Years On 14/1, £120,000 Mayson filly. Bred to be useful and showed plenty to work on first time up at Chelmsford (7f, 6/1) earlier this month, especially as she shaped as if she'll come on for the outing. Will improve. 6-1 when close third of ten in Chelmsford novice (7f, AW) 17 days ago, from off the pace. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Recency Bias |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Recency Bias 20/1, 60,000 gns Havana Grey gelding. 12/1, showed plenty of ability once he'd got the hang of things on debut at Wolverhampton (6f) 3 weeks ago, nearest finish. Will improve. 12-1 recently at Wolverhampton (6f, AW), slowly away but working his way into 4th of eight. |

4/1(+33%) | (5) Meblesh 4/1, €100,000 yearling, €100,000 2-y-o, Sea The Stars colt. Brother to several winners, including useful winner up to 1¼m Sea Empress and 7f/1m winner Sea Tsarina. Appealing newcomer for yard with good record in this event. 100,000euros buy, by Sea The Stars; late foal but, from a major yard, one to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Uniting |
250/1(-150%) | (9) Uniting 250/1, €12,000 2-y-o, Mehmas gelding. Dam ran once in France out of Oaks Tree Stakes winner Amy Eria. 12,000euros 2yo in November, by Mehmas; on debut, he's probably up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Honved |
5/1(-25%) | (4) Honved 5/1, €100,000 Zoustar colt. Brother to 8.5f-1¼m winner Clash of Currents. Well backed and showed plenty to work on at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 3 weeks ago behind promising Clive Cox-trained winner (shaped really well again at Kempton on Wednesday). Open to improvement and leading claims. Favourite for recent novice at Wolverhampton (7f, AW) and led over 1f out until close home. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Mum's Angel |
10/1(-18%) | (6) Mum's Angel 10/1, Dark Angel colt. Brother to useful 2-y-o 5f winner Dark Vintage and half-brother to smart winner up to 6f Kerdos. Lots to like on paper and sure to be popular for in-form yard. Brother to Dark Vintage (RPR 101), half-brother to 5f/6f winner Kerdos (Group 2; 117). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Palmarian |
1/1(+38%) | (7) Palmarian 1/1, Kingman colt. Closely related to 2-y-o 6f winner Lover's Knot and half-brother to several winners, including very smart 1m/9f winner Blair House. 12/1, showed plenty of promise in useful 7f Newmarket maiden in October, headed 1f out having looked in control 2f out. Sure to improve and good shout. Looked likely winner for a long way at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) in October; big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) ![]() She's A Goldigger |
100/1(0%) | (13) She's A Goldigger 100/1, 1,000 gns yearling, Land Force filly. Dam, 7f/1m winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 6f Stake Acclaim out of useful 2-y-o 6f winner Golden Legacy. 1,000gns yearling by Land Force; probably a surprise if she scored on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() Criminal Shore |
33/1(-65%) | (1) Criminal Shore 33/1, Showed a bit in 7f AW events in the autumn and type to do better in handicaps after this having been gelded. Fourth in 7f novice races on AW at Southwell (the better form) and Newcastle in the autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Fallons First |
80/1(-300%) | (10) Fallons First 80/1, 46,000 gns yearling, Kodiac filly. Dam once-raced half-sister to useful 6f winner Dream Dubai out of winning half-sister to smart winners up to 8.5f Trans Island and Mujaazef. 46,000gns yearling by Kodiac; late foal and looks the stable second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) ![]() Karakula |
200/1(-203%) | (12) Karakula 200/1, Sea The Moon filly from a very good family, although her pattern-race winning dam is yet to produce a winner, and she looked one for the longer term in 7f Chelmsford novice (22/1) on recent debut. 22-1 for novice at Chelmsford (7f, AW) 17 days ago, just over 6l behind Forty Years On. |
This contest can often throw up a useful winner and that might be the case with Richard Hannon's MEBLESH. The Sea The Stars colt fetched 100,000 euros as a juvenile and is a brother to four separate winners, each possessing above-average ability. Palmarian shaped with promise in a decent maiden at Newmarket when last seen and must enter calculations, along with Honved, who looks certain to improve on his debut effort at Wolverhampton.
PALMARIAN showed plenty of promise in an October Newmarket maiden that usually throws up a smart one and with improvement surely on the cards he could get off the mark here. Likewise Honved made a very bright start more recently at Wolverhampton and seems sure to progress. Meblesh, for a yard that has won 3 runnings of this in recent years, and Mum's Angel, are appealing newcomers.
Having had the rest in trouble at one stage at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) in October, PALMARIAN seems to have shown the most promise.

1st (12) ![]() Swelter |
6/1(+25%) | (12) Swelter 6/1, Kingman filly created an excellent impression when a debut winner of 1m maiden here 8 months ago. Capable of a fair bit better and shouldn't be underestimated on her return. 1m maiden course winner on only juvenile start, may have enough pace to be competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Exactly |
5/6(+56%) | (6) Exactly 5/6, Smart filly who gained a deserved success in Killavullan Stakes over C&D in October by 6½ lengths from Antelope Canyon, forging clear late. Holds leading form claims. Very experienced, twice placed at Group 1 level, impressed over C&D on soft on final start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Cercene |
28/1(+30%) | (4) Cercene 28/1, Winner at Naas in September and not disgraced when 7¼ lengths seventh of 11 to Whirl in Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh (8f, soft, 7/1) 159 days ago. Needs a big step forward. Naas maiden winner, failed to cope with the rise in class in a 1m Group 3 at the Curragh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Carla Ridge |
40/1(+0%) | (3) Carla Ridge 40/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time and much improved to win 12-runner maiden at Naas (5.9f, good to firm, 100/1) 6 months ago. Up in trip and open to improvement but this is a tough ask. Took a huge step forward from her debut when a 100-1 maiden winner at Naas, big task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Copacabana Sands |
33/1(+34%) | (5) Copacabana Sands 33/1, Fairly useful juvenile for Diego Dias. Made an excellent start for her new yard when second of 20 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, soft, 7/2) 14 days ago, clear of rest. This demands considerably more however. Has run several good races in defeat, unlikely to make the breakthrough in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Orchidaceae |
25/1(-39%) | (10) Orchidaceae 25/1, Made it 2-3 last year when taking 13-runner minor event here (7.2f, good to firm) 9 months ago. This is a tough ask but she should have more to offer despite her absence. Backed up a Curragh maiden win with C&D success last June, might prefer better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Barnavara |
18/1(-100%) | (2) Barnavara 18/1, Useful filly. 9/4, respectable 1½ lengths third of 9 to Heavens Gate in Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh (7f, good to soft). Off 6 months but not ruled out on her return. Solid placed form at Pattern level last year, needs to find extra to win in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) ![]() Usdi Atohi |
33/1(-65%) | (13) Usdi Atohi 33/1, A daul 5f scorer in the first half of last season and she signed off with a good second of 7 to Ides of March in Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh (6f) in August. Hood goes on for her return and she can't be totally dismissed. Both juvenile wins were at 5f, Group 3 runner-up at 6f, perhaps more of a sprinting type. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Merrily |
11/1(-10%) | (7) Merrily 11/1, Useful filly who sprang a surprise when 25/1-winner of Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) in October by ½ length from Cathedral. Must enter calculations. 5f maiden winner, saw out this trip well when winning a Group 3 at Newmarket in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Miracle Beauty |
25/1(+11%) | (9) Miracle Beauty 25/1, Built on debut promise when landing 12-runner maiden at Naas (5.9f, good to soft) 168 days ago. No forlorn hope now stepping up in trip for her good yard. Earned a relatively low official rating (85) in her two races, much to prove at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) ![]() Sparkling Sea |
17/2(-42%) | (11) Sparkling Sea 17/2, Impressive debut scorer at Naas before posting a good neck second of 6 to Fairy Godmother in Fillies' Sprint Stakes at Naas (5.9f, good to firm) 10 months ago. Remains with potential on her comeback run. Good early-season juvenile, form linked to the Albany Stakes winner, off since last May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) ![]() Bubbling |
8/1(-78%) | (1) Bubbling 8/1, Promising No Nay Never filly who signed off last term with victory in Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket (7f, soft) by 2¼ lengths from Serving With Style. Open to more progress in 2025 and she's firmly in the picture. Signed off last season with victory in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes, small penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) ![]() Minaun View |
80/1(-100%) | (8) Minaun View 80/1, 20/1, promising sixth of 9 to Right And True in listed race at Dundalk (7f) on her debut 177 days ago. This Bated Breath filly needs to take a major step forward in this grade however. Made her debut in a Listed race at Dundalk so clearly well regarded, up against it here. |
EXACTLY progressed well throughout her juvenile campaign and was placed twice in Group 1 company including behind stablemate Lake Victoria in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh before handling soft ground well when a runaway winner of the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes over this C&D. Riding arrangements suggest she is preferred to Bubbling, who finished off last season by landing the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes over this trip at Newmarket. Sparkling Sea twice showed smart form against Fairy Godmother at Naas early last term but now reappears after an absence of 315 days, while Swelter won a mile maiden in good style on her only outing here last July.
Plenty of these fillies bring potential to a cracking Group 3 but it could pay to side with form pick and C&D winner EXACTLY who is also the choice of Ryan Moore from Aidan O'Brien's trio. Stablemates and fellow pattern-race winners Bubbling and Merrily rate major threats though, with the less exposed duo Sparkling Sea and Usdi Atohi completing the shortlist.
It makes sense to trust Ryan Moore's preference for EXACTLY (nap), a dual C&D winner who impressed on her final juvenile start

1st (4) ![]() Coastguard Station |
6/1(-20%) | (4) Coastguard Station 6/1, Scored at Uttoxeter last June and wasn't seen to best effect when a solid fourth at Aintree (2m) in November. Turned in a poor effort back hurdling at Doncaster since but not ruled out back in this sphere. Absent since poor hurdle run in November and resumes on fairly tough chase mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Kotmask |
5/4(+44%) | (2) Kotmask 5/4, Course winner in December but he came in only eleventh of 14 in handicap chase at Newbury (19.8f, good to soft) 29 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Soundly beaten at Newbury recently but a big player if judged on this season's course form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Light N Strike |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Light N Strike 4/1, A useful 2m chase winner in May 2023 but well held all 3 starts this season after 18 months off, pulled up in Newbury handicap chase last time. Has lots to prove. Back on his last winning mark and sure to be suited by today's return to good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Hypotenus |
6/1(-71%) | (5) Hypotenus 6/1, Yet to score over fences but he's made a positive start for his current yard, third of 5 in handicap chase at Hereford (16f, good) 22 days ago when going off too hard. Player off a 2 lb lower mark. Front-runner; below form last time but started off for this stable with two good efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Third Time Lucki |
9/2(-35%) | (3) Third Time Lucki 9/2, A smart chaser at his best for Dan Skelton in 2022/23. Joined present connections for £190,000 and finished a good second at Cheltenham in November. Poor efforts since though but his mark has plummeted so he remains one to consider with his yard among the winners. Very well handicapped on old form but yet to click for new stable this season. |
KOTMASK looks the one to beat dropped in both grade and trip. His overall Ascot record is encouraging, winning once and placing twice from six visits, and this is the first time that he has dropped into class 3 company since February last year. Coastguard Station disappointed over hurdles at Doncaster last time but much better is expected on his return to chasing, while Hypotenus could go well off his light weight if allowed to dictate matters.
Not an easy race to asess and the right angle could be to side with HYPOTENUS who is the only one of the quintet to arrive in good form and could also get his own way in front here. Fergal O'Brien has his team in rude health so the handily-weighted Third Time Lucki could prove the main threat if back on song ahead of Coastguard Station and Kotmask.
The return to Ascot is a big plus for KOTMASK, who is now only 1lb higher than when winning here in the autumn.

1st (9) ![]() Lilian Bland |
4/1(+33%) | (9) Lilian Bland 4/1, Latest win in chase at Navan in March. 8/1, found only a less-exposed sort too good when second of 13 in handicap chase at Thurles (20.8f, good) 15 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Shortlist material in her current mood. Winning chaser, 0-16 over hurdles, ground versatile, lower mark over timber, place claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Joueuse Royale |
9/2(+0%) | (2) Joueuse Royale 9/2, 16/5, improved again when second of 14 in maiden hurdle at Thurles (15.6f, good to soft) 24 days ago, running on. Makes handicap debut and should have more to offer. Placed in points and maiden hurdles, fair mark, steps up in trip for h'cap bow, considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Joya Del Mar |
12/1(+25%) | (5) Joya Del Mar 12/1, Failed to build on the promise of last run with more patient tactics re-employed when well-held sixth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20f, heavy, 9/1) 22 days ago. 0-12 over hurdles, fine effort in defeat at Fairyhouse latest, drying ground a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Maid On The Moon |
17/2(-143%) | (7) Maid On The Moon 17/2, Blinkered for 1st time, showed much improved form to get off the mark under Rules for her current connections in 18-runner handicap hurdle (20/1) at Leopardstown (20f, good to soft) 27 days ago, joined when left well clear last. 11 lb rise makes things tough. Won easily at Leopardstown, up 11lb and longer trip now, handles most ground, claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Slim Marvel |
17/2(+39%) | (3) Slim Marvel 17/2, Ran one of this season's lesser races when 24½ lengths fifth of 18 to Maid On The Moon in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (20f, good to soft, 9/2) 27 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Bounce back needed. Maiden winner, has placed off this mark, could get closer to Maid In The Moon; visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Stretchemout |
11/1(-83%) | (6) Stretchemout 11/1, Tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time, failed by only a narrow margin despite not being seen to best effect when second of 14 in maiden hurdle at Thurles (20f, good to soft, 5/1) 24 days ago, short of room approaching straight. Capable of better now handicapping. Point winner, narrowly denied in a maiden latest, trip should suit, chance on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Out For A Stroll |
15/8(+38%) | (4) Out For A Stroll 15/8, Won at Limerick on St. Stephen's Day and matched that form as opposed to improving on it when second of 6 in juvenile handicap hurdle (5/2) at Punchestown (16.2f, heavy) a couple of months ago. Significantly up in trip. Merits consideration. Won 3yo maiden at Limerick, form of h'cap debut boosted, big chance if she stays this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Magic Boum |
22/1(-57%) | (1) Magic Boum 22/1, Won at Navan on hurdling debut in December but well beaten on both subsequent starts, tailed-off last in listed event back there (20f, heavy) 7 weeks ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Point and maiden winner, outclassed latest, could do better in h'cap, can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Kilda Kelle |
22/1(-10%) | (8) Kilda Kelle 22/1, Failed to improve on handicap debut when sixth of 17 at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft, 18/1) 4 weeks ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Significantly up in trip. Promise on last two starts, pedigree suggests this step up in trip might suit, outrun odds. |
OUT FOR A STROLL defeated a subsequent Grade 3 winner to score at Limerick at Christmas and chased home the Fred Winter fifth at Punchestown when last seen. Being Flat-bred, she should have more to offer on the drying ground and is a progressive four-year-old. An untidy final-flight jump probably cost Joyeuse Royale victory at Thurles recently and she should be suited by stepping up in distance on handicap debut. Magic Boum drops in grade having disappointed on two recent starts but notably defeated Grade 1-placed Eastern Legend to win in December.
Plenty in with a squeak but it could pay to take a chance on bottom-weight LILIAN BLAND, who arrives in the form of her life over the larger obstacles and has a much lower hurdles mark to work with here. Heading up the dangers is Maid On The Moon, who was a fortuitous winner at Leopardstown last month and has been hit with a hefty 11 lb rise. Joueuse Royale and Stretchemout can fight out minor honours.
The filly OUT FOR A STROLL (nap) looks potentially very well treated on the form of her last two runs.

1st (14) ![]() Dark Thirty |
5/1(+55%) | (14) Dark Thirty 5/1, Started 2024 with a bang when landing 18-runner handicap at Newmarket (6f) in April. Needs to shrug off some lesser runs since but not taken lightly given he goes well fresh and has slipped to a handy mark. This may be the time to catch him; defied a higher mark on reappearance last term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (21) ![]() Havana Pusey |
16/1(+52%) | (21) Havana Pusey 16/1, Scored at Windsor (6f) last June but proved hit and miss after, only eleventh of 12 in handicap at Southwell (6f) in November. Needs a couple of these to falter. Lacks recent match practice and consistency; others have stronger claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Fine Interview |
11/4(+63%) | (7) Fine Interview 11/4, French recruit enjoyed an excellent time of it for his current yard, last season, making it three wins from six runs over C&D (soft) in October. Off since but he's not taken lightly despite having a career-high mark to overcome. Absent since C&D success five months ago; steadily progressive for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) ![]() Physique |
9/1(+44%) | (16) Physique 9/1, Scored over 7f in Ireland for Michael Fenton last September but he went off the boil after. Starts out for new yard now after a lay-off with more required. Still has something to prove at 6f but Oisin Murphy is a notable booking; new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) ![]() Knebworth |
11/1(-10%) | (11) Knebworth 11/1, Took this 12 months ago and he teed himself up well for a repeat when an encouraging fourth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6f) 22 days ago, running on late. Should be spot on here and bold showing is on the cards. Successful in this contest last year, having had the same prep; warrants respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Aramis Grey |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Aramis Grey 16/1, On a long losing run she's a reliable sort and has made a solid start for his new stable, third of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 30 days ago. In the mix once more. Most wins on AW but showed consistent form on turf last year; each-way hopes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Coachello |
28/1(-27%) | (2) Coachello 28/1, Gained a first success for his current yard at Wolverhampton in December and shaped better than position suggests when a free-going ninth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 30 days ago. Not ruled out given the likely stronger gallop this time. Effective on turf in the past but hasn't scored in this sphere since early 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) ![]() Billyjoh |
12/1(-9%) | (3) Billyjoh 12/1, C&D winner who ended 2024 with a respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (7f) in October. It's now 13 runs since his last win however. Form last term included placed efforts in two major handicaps; clear possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) ![]() Woven |
14/1(+22%) | (13) Woven 14/1, C&D winner who signed off for 2024 with a creditable tenth of 15 in handicap over C&D in November. Also runner-up in this contest 12 months ago so he must enter calculations. Finished second in this contest in 2022 and 2024; obvious each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Probe |
20/1(-25%) | (9) Probe 20/1, A three-time 6f winner in 2023. Resumed from 15 months off with an encouraging sixth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6f) 22 days ago, left poorly placed. Remains one to be interested in from a reduced mark. Won off this mark twice in 2023 but needs to prove he retains that ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() Glenfinnan |
25/1(-25%) | (1) Glenfinnan 25/1, Bagged a second success of 2024 at Sandown (7f) in August but struggled for consistency and was well below par on his final two runs. Needs to get back on track on his seasonal return. Appears to need a career-best performance to defy top weight in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (22) ![]() Trilby |
14/1(+0%) | (22) Trilby 14/1, Thrived on a busy 2024, scoring for the fourth time in 5f handicap at Haydock in Ocotber. Also went in on his seasonal return so he's very much one to consider reappearing here off a still workable mark. Productive in 2024 and may have more to offer this term; remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) ![]() Tinto |
50/1(+0%) | (12) Tinto 50/1, Again paid his way last season with victories in a couple of 6f Thirsk handicaps. Ended the campaign below par though and came in well held in this on his return 12 months ago. Never landed a blow in this race on reappearance last term; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (4) ![]() Bosh |
33/1(-50%) | (4) Bosh 33/1, A fairly useful dual 6f scorer last season for Richard Hannon but off the track since beating only one at Ascot in September. It would come as no surprise to see him get back on track for his new yard here though. Record of 4-22 for Richard Hannon; hasn't won on turf since 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (18) ![]() Chairmanoftheboard |
25/1(-25%) | (18) Chairmanoftheboard 25/1, Ended a losing run stretching back three years in 6f handicap at Goodwood in October. Cheekpieces replaces visor for his reappearance and possibilities off just a 2 lb higher mark. Prevailed narrowly at Goodwood when last seen; has a modest record in this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (17) ![]() Archduke Ferdinand |
14/1(+30%) | (17) Archduke Ferdinand 14/1, Ended last term in good form, fitted with cheekpieces when bagging 6f handicaps at Newmarket and Redcar in the autumn. Headgear is again sported for his return so this course winner can make his presence felt. Good form towards the end of last season featured a solid C&D effort; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (8) ![]() Eye Of Dubai |
7/1(+13%) | (8) Eye Of Dubai 7/1, Got back on the up in the second half of last season and signed off with victory in 15-runner handicap over C&D (heavy) in November. Up 3 lb but he could have more to offer as a 4-y-o and needs considering. Similar type to Fine Interview, being a last-time C&D scorer who may improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (20) ![]() Albert Cee |
25/1(+24%) | (20) Albert Cee 25/1, Low-mileage 5-y-o who made a winning start for James Owen at Chepstow last June but wasn't seen again after a fair fiifth at Haydock following month. Needs to hit the ground running for another new stable here. Lightly raced 5yo whose record fresh bodes well; debuting for a fourth stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
19th (15) ![]() La Rochette |
80/1(-60%) | (15) La Rochette 80/1, A fairly useful ex-French 6f winner at her best. Ended 2024 out of sorts though so needs this yard switch to spark major improvement. Lost her form in France after winning twice last spring; British debut. |
Having progressed nicely since undergoing wind surgery last summer, EYE OF DUBAI returns with scope to make a big impact in races of this type over the coming months. Handed a rise of just 3lb for a C&D win when last seen in November, the son of Havana Grey starts the new campaign on a realistic mark and makes plenty of appeal. Other strong contenders include last year's winner Knebworth, Aramis Grey, Bosh and Billyjoh.
This is wide open but it could pay to side with last year's victor KNEBWORTH who shaped well on his recent return when fourth at Wolverhampton and hails from a yard among the winners. Dark Thirty has a good record fresh and could emerge as the main danger off a lenient mark, although a solid case can be made for plenty of others, namely Fine Interview, Eye of Dubai, Bosh, Trilby and Archduke Ferdinand in this cracking sprint.
Back down in class and belatedly returned to the scene of his turf win, BILLYJOH is preferred. Second choice is Archduke Ferdinand.

1st (1) ![]() Delacroix |
4/7(+7%) | (1) Delacroix 4/7, Dubawi colt who improved from run to run as a juvenile, gamely landing Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket (1m) in October. Signed off with an excellent nose second in Futurity (1m) at Doncaster so big shout on his return with Ryan Moore in the saddle. Sets the standard on last year's form, narrowly denied by Hotazhell in the Futurity. |

2nd (3) ![]() Lambourn |
9/1(+73%) | (3) Lambourn 9/1, Useful colt. 7/1 and blinkered for 1st time, 7¾ lengths last of 5 to Hotazhell in Beresford Stakes at the Curragh (8f, good) 6 months ago. Can bounce back on his seasonal return. Won a Listed race in France, failed to feature when last of five in the Beresford Stakes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Tiberius Thunder |
12/1(+25%) | (5) Tiberius Thunder 12/1, Highly promising Night of Thunder colt who made a winning debut in 11-runner maiden at Dundalk (8f, 8/15) 44 days ago. Open to significant improvement and shouldn't be underestimated for last year's winning yard. Strongly supported when making a winning debut in a 1m maiden at Dundalk, should stay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Puppet Master |
9/2(+0%) | (4) Puppet Master 9/2, Promising Camelot colt built on his Galway maiden victory when an excellent fourth of 7 to Wimbledon Hawkeye in Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket (8f, good to soft) 6 months ago. Has more to offer now his stamina is drawn out. In the picture. Failed to boost Classic claims when fourth behind Wimbledon Hawkeye in the Royal Lodge. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Wemightakedlongway |
18/1(-100%) | (7) Wemightakedlongway 18/1, Got off the mark in 1m maiden at Cork and advanced his form when a close third of 6 to Sigh No More in Eyrefield Stakes here (9f, soft) later in October. This demands another big step forward however. Did not quite meet expectations when third in a 1m1f Group 3 event here last October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Kibris |
12/1(-33%) | (2) Kibris 12/1, Lope De Vega colt made a promising start when bagging 27-runner maiden at the Curragh (8f, good to soft) 147 days ago. Has lots more to offer stepping up in trip. No forlorn hope for good yard. Won 27-runner 1m maiden first time out at the Curragh, apparent second-string for trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Spicy Margarita |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Spicy Margarita 66/1, Progressive son of Earthlight bagged 7f maiden at Dundalk in February before posting a very good second of 5 in conditions event there (8f, 12/1) 23 days ago. This is much tougher though. Not guaranteed to stay on pedigree and might prefer better ground; stable's second-string.. |
DELACROIX won twice last year including the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket before just losing out by the slimmest of margins to Hotazhell in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster. The Dubawi colt is bred to stay this extra quarter mile, while stablemate Puppet Master also looked like he'd be suited by stepping up in trip when finishing strongly to land a maiden at the Galway Festival. Cork maiden winner Wemightakedlongway subsequently performed well at Group 3 level and riding arrangements suggest she's preferred to Kibris.
Aidan O'Brien holds a typically strong hand in this Group 3 event and his highly progressive juvenile DELACROIX can resume winning ways having just been touched off in Doncaster's Futurity Stakes last backend and put himself firmly in the Derby picture. Stablemate Puppet Master should also find this step up to 1m2f very much to his benefit and rates the main threat with the unexposed Dundalk maiden scorer Tiberius Thunder not discounted either for last year's winning stable.
The William Hill Futurity runner-up DELACROIX sets a high standard and is the clear pick of a Ballydoyle-trained trio

1st (3) ![]() Native Moon |
5/4(+17%) | (3) Native Moon 5/4, Has hit the frame on all four starts for this yard, his latest run much the best when improving for the application of blinkers/step back up in trip, second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Exeter. Up 3 lb for that but the form is working out really well and he could be the one to beat in this line up. 0-8 over hurdles but ran big race when second in first-time blinkers at Exeter this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Briefly |
5/2(+9%) | (1) Briefly 5/2, Had been proving steadily progressive over hurdles, posting her best effort to date when runner-up in a Wincanton handicap (24.7f) last month, for all she was flattered by her proximity to the winner. Let down badly by her jumping when last of 3 over the same C&D 6 days ago and needs to bounce back. Flopped at Wincanton on Monday but her clear second there last month makes her of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Rubies Or Gold |
2/1(+89%) | (4) Rubies Or Gold 2/1, Looked the type to do better in handicaps over further but has disappointed, often labouring in his races. Needs to improve significantly on what he's shown but he finds himself off a lowly mark and is a worth a market check on his return now reunited with ex-stable jockey (sole ride on the card). Unplaced all eight hurdling starts but still worth keeping an eye on in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Kicks And Ale |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Kicks And Ale 16/1, Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points but has shown little in his qualifying runs, for all he may have been campaigned with handicaps in mind. Bred to be suited by this step up in trip and may be capable of better now handicapping. Struggled in three maiden/novice hurdles (2m4f-2m5f); up in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Miss Ireland |
17/2(-183%) | (2) Miss Ireland 17/2, Didn't look the most straightforward when winning a bumper winner on debut Fontwell. Progressed from hurdling debut, again appearing quirky when runner-up in a Lingfield maiden (19.5f) last month. Should be suited by this longer trip and there could be more to come on handicap debut. May not be straightforward; switches to a handicap after going very close in a maiden. |
MISS IRELAND took a big step forward when only beaten a nose into second over an extended 2m3f at Lingfield last month. The step up in trip and switch to handicap company could see the daughter of Yeats go one better here. That said, Native Moon also hit the crossbar on his most recent outing and Jeremy Scott's gelding should not be underestimated. Briefly is the pick of the remainder.
NATIVE MOON finished ahead of two subsequent winners when runner-up at Exeter earlier this month, and he can go one better providing the blinkers have the same effect this time around. Despite looking quirky, the lightly-raced Miss Ireland improved from her hurdles debut when second at Lingfield last time out, and she's feared most while Rubies Or Gold is one to note in the betting on his return.
Another chance is given to BRIEFLY, who disappointed at Wincanton on Monday but ran well behind a progressive rival there last month.

1st (6) ![]() Dunboyne |
15/2(-25%) | (6) Dunboyne 15/2, Not the most reliable but, back over hurdles, he made his first start since leaving Gordon Elliott a winning one when landing 15-runner handicap at Navan (20f, heavy, 66/1) 29 days ago. Remains on a handy mark so he enters calculations returned to chasing. Recent hurdles win augurs well although ground possibly on the quick side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Final Orders |
10/1(-100%) | (2) Final Orders 10/1, Without a win so far this season but turned in best effort of the campaign when third of 13 in listed handicap at Leopardstown (21.5f, good to soft, 18/1) 28 days ago, rallying well late on. Worth a try at this trip so he's interesting from his current mark. Back to form at Leopardstown recently; unproven over this extended trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() Jumping Jet |
11/1(-29%) | (8) Jumping Jet 11/1, Successful in this race last year. Yet to fully fire this season, off 4 months before finishing second of 3 in minor event at Down Royal (26.2f, good, 2/1) 13 days ago, but she could take a step forward with her recent run behind her. Last year's winner had a decent prep run at Down Royal; ground in her favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) ![]() Brazil |
20/1(+9%) | (10) Brazil 20/1, Useful hurdler at best but has yet to make much impact over fences, jumping ponderously when pulled up on handicap chase debut at Punchestown (19.7f, soft, 25/1) in December. Others more persuasive as he goes up in trip. Boodles winner yet to get act together chasing; big step up in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) ![]() Peaches And Cream |
9/2(+50%) | (13) Peaches And Cream 9/2, Third in this race in 2022 and scored at Punchestown next time. Has proved more miss than hit this season, though, seventh of 8 in handicap at Punchestown (22.7f, heavy, 40/1) on latest outing in January. Back up in trip. Disputing when last-fence faller in this last year; recent form not good but 9lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) ![]() Bodhisattva |
11/1(+21%) | (11) Bodhisattva 11/1, On a losing run but posted a good second in the Edinburgh National at Musselburgh (31.4f, good to soft) in February. Hasn't been able to build on that effort in 2 starts since, though, seventh of 16 in Midlands Grand National (14/1) at Uttoxeter (34f, soft) 15 days ago. Campaigning in Britain of late without success; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (17) ![]() Wine An Dine |
16/1(+0%) | (17) Wine An Dine 16/1, Winning pointer who has made the frame 3 times in chases this season, running creditably upped in trip when fourth of 14 in Dublin National at Leopardstown (28.3f, good to soft, 25/1) 4 weeks ago. More needed. RESERVE. Good second at Fairyhouse but below that form since and 5lb wrong here; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Stormy Judge |
28/1(-40%) | (9) Stormy Judge 28/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021 and well below form when tenth of 14 in Leinster National at Naas (24.8f, soft, 28/1) 3 weeks ago. Mark has eased further as a result, but application of cheekpieces needs to help spark a return to form. Underwhelming recent Naas run and ground here plenty quick; cheekpieces tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() So Des Flos |
40/1(-100%) | (7) So Des Flos 40/1, Successful twice in handicap chases last year but has been struggling for form in the current campaign, eleventh of 13 in listed handicap at Leopardstown (21.5f, good to soft) 4 week ago. Has enough to prove at present. Below best of late and hasn't convinced over these marathon trips in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (16) ![]() Wellington Hill |
9/1(+64%) | (16) Wellington Hill 9/1, Fairly useful winning hurdler and has matched that level over fences without getting his head in front. After 7 months off, shaped as if better for the run when seventh of 14 in Dublin National at Leopardstown (28.3f, good to soft, 18/1) 4 weeks ago. RESERVE. Better for recent comeback run but still hard to see him having an impact; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) ![]() Iris Emery |
10/3(-11%) | (12) Iris Emery 10/3, Upped in trip for handicap debut, wasted no time getting back to form when third of 14 in Dublin National at Leopardstown (28.3f, good to soft, 14/1) 4 weeks ago. Remains unexposed as a stayer and she's a major player for her leading yard. Didn't appear to stay 3m5f on handicap debut at Leopardstown; obvious stamina worries. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Ask Anything |
10/1(-43%) | (5) Ask Anything 10/1, Shaped best when runner-up in this race last year. Made the frame over hurdles in January, before meeting trouble in running when ninth of 17 in listed handicap chase at Punchestown (27f, soft, 15/2) last time. Could fare better back here. Last year's second out of form of late on soft; improved effort likely on better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) ![]() Hands Of Gold |
12/1(+14%) | (14) Hands Of Gold 12/1, Fairly useful winning hurdler but below that level over fences, though in the process of showing better form before falling 2 out at Gowran on penultimate start. Went backwards from that effort when pulled up at same course (16f, heavy, 17/2) last time. Significantly up in trip. Hard to fancy but longer trip and better ground could see improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) ![]() Ringdufferin |
25/1(+24%) | (15) Ringdufferin 25/1, Fairly useful winner at 24f over hurdles but has lost his way over fences, tailed-off sixth of 8 in handicap at Punchestown (22.7f, heavy, 25/1) 24 days ago. Others preferred. Better hurdler; reportedly burst blood vessels latest; not an obvious one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Bronn |
50/1(-100%) | (1) Bronn 50/1, Very smart at best over fences but his form has gone the wrong way, faring no better in first-time tongue strap when falling at the eleventh in Leinster National at Naas (24.8f, soft, 66/1) 3 weeks ago. Rated 154 in his prime but remains out of form. |
IRIS EMERY ran well in the Dublin National over this distance earlier this month and has obvious claims. Despite having won just once in her career, she wasn't beaten too far by some smart types this season and while she may not be far ahead of the handicapper, should nonetheless run a solid race. Final Orders ran well in a Listed race at Leopardstown recently and will relish drying ground. Dunboyne completes the shortlist.
IRIS EMERY quickly left behind a below-par effort when third in the Dublin National at Leopardstown last time and, with more still to offer at long distances, she could be ready to open her chase account. She is preferred to Dunboyne, who proved revitalised by a change of yard when scoring over hurdles on his latest outing, with Final Orders and Jumping Jet others to consider.
DUNBOYNE looked rejuvenated when scoring over hurdles at Navan and runs off a 10lb lower mark than this time last year

1st (13) ![]() City Of Delight |
13/2(+0%) | (13) City Of Delight 13/2, Progressed at a rate of knots in handicaps on turf last summer, winning 4 in a row over 1¼m. Respectable sixth of 17 in a warm C&D handicap on final start. Could have even more to come in 2025. 11116 at 1m2f last term; may resume his progress this season and the market can give clues. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Magico |
5/1(-25%) | (6) Magico 5/1, Warmed up for this with excellent reappearance second at Chelmsford 17 days ago (first start since being gelded), just failing to peg back one who got first run. Pulled 3½ lengths clear of the rest and could still be well treated despite a 3 lb nudge. First-time cheekpieces are added to tongue tie. Easily best turf form was C&D; career best on AW 17 days ago; cheekpieces are enlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() Qitaal |
12/1(+25%) | (8) Qitaal 12/1, Landed this race on reappearance last year and back to winning ways when giving Franny Norton a fairytale farewell ride at Chester (1¼m, heavy) in September. Stumbled badly and run easily ignored at Epsom final start. Evidently goes well when fresh, Won this race (soft) last year; 8l Chester win in September means he's 9lb higher today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Stressfree |
7/2(+56%) | (1) Stressfree 7/2, Most consistent last season, winning at Chester (soft) in September and recording several other good efforts in defeat, including C&D. Arrives fit from a Musselburgh hurdle win last month. Should go well. Won a maiden hurdle six weeks ago, so should be ready to deliver another big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Rathgar |
11/1(+8%) | (9) Rathgar 11/1, Well served by a positive ride back down markedly in trip when successful at Yarmouth (1¼m) in July. Just as good when runner-up at Chepstow (1¼m again) in August. Ran no more than respectably on final 2 starts but returns with his yard in good form. Needs to return in top form but he was competitive first time out in last two seasons. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (15) ![]() Baryshnikov |
40/1(-43%) | (15) Baryshnikov 40/1, Consistent sort who posted a solid fourth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (1¼m, good to soft) on his final start last year. Reappears off 1 lb below the mark he defied at Redcar last May. Thereabouts. 9yo with only one win (last May) in nearly three years; 1lb below that last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (17) ![]() Cockalorum |
50/1(-79%) | (17) Cockalorum 50/1, Won over this trip at Beverley last summer. Lost his form a little towards the end of the season but that has resulted in him dropping back to the mark he defied at Beverley. Won first time up in 2023. Now a 10yo but he won off today's mark in a pretty solid summer campaign last term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() King's Code |
33/1(-83%) | (5) King's Code 33/1, Ended 2024 with a pair of AW wins at Wolverhampton. Mostly respectable efforts in defeat on AW this year but remains 2 lb above his last win mark ahead of this return to turf. 2nd at York last May; went badly the wrong way in his turf starts but some good runs on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) ![]() Royal Approval |
12/1(-20%) | (11) Royal Approval 12/1, Son of Cracksman who showed a tidy turn of foot when landing a second career success in 1¼m Newcastle handicap in February. Little went right for him at Southwell next time and it may pay to ignore that run. Much less exposed than most of these now tackling turf for only a second time. Well beaten last June on sole turf start but that was debut; 2-4 on AW this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Asgard's Captain |
16/1(-78%) | (10) Asgard's Captain 16/1, Added to good AW record with a 1¼m win at Newcastle in December. Has matched that form when placed twice on AW this year but latest Newcastle sixth of 11 was only respectable. Fully effective on turf. Seen in regular action on AW since November and usually ran with credit; in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) ![]() Fouroneohfever |
15/2(+25%) | (4) Fouroneohfever 15/2, Won his first 3 handicaps last spring and also excellent fourth of 19 in King George Handicap at Royal Ascot. Not so good on the final 2 outings of his 3-y-o campaign but no surprise were he to resume his progression in 2025. Began 2024 with three wins; disappointing (July and October) in his last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) ![]() Have Secret |
6/1(+67%) | (14) Have Secret 6/1, Plenty of creditable efforts in 2024 but it's now 16 runs since his last win back in 2022. Capable fresh but suspicion he'll find at least the odd one too strong again. No win since 2022; three 2nds last season and he may well be on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) ![]() Laafy |
40/1(-100%) | (3) Laafy 40/1, Very useful handicapper in 2020 but not seen since finishing seventh of 11 in 11.5f Windsor handicap in June 2021. Sold out of Sir Michael Stoute's yard for 27,000 gns last spring. Can only be watched after such a long lay-off. Unraced for 1373 days, having joined current yard for 27,000gns almost one year ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) ![]() Chaturanga |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Chaturanga 18/1, Pair of 1¼m wins last year, latterly at Ayr (good to firm) in July. Ended last year with a poor run at Hamilton in September. Off 6 months. Won 1m2f handicaps last May and July; lots to prove on softer than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (16) ![]() Crimson Road |
40/1(-43%) | (16) Crimson Road 40/1, Dual 1¼m turf winner for the Crisford yard in 2024. New connections acquired him for 28,000 gns last autumn. Might be best watched this time. Won twice on good/good to firm in 2024; left the Crisfords for 28,000gns in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (12) ![]() Whiskey Pete |
22/1(+0%) | (12) Whiskey Pete 22/1, Useful handicapper over this trip for Ralph Beckett but hasn't shown much in 2 outings in Bahrain for new connections in recent weeks. A watching brief is advised back in Britain. Has done best in mud; 105,000gns sale before two heavy defeats on good to firm in Bahrain. |
MAGICO, who was an eye-catching second over this trip at Chelmsford 17 days ago, could be the way to go now he is tried with a tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination. That was the four-year-old's first start since undergoing wind surgery and there could be plenty more to come. There are obviously dangers aplenty with the likes of Stressfree, City Of Delight and Asgard's Captain all suggested as capable players. Qitaal is also dangerous to rule out.
A useful handicap. MAGICO caught the eye when a fast-finishing second on his recent Chelmsford reappearance and is taken to go one better now. Stressfree, who has some good C&D form, is another whose fitness is assured after a hurdle win last month and he's second choice ahead of City of Delight and Royal Approval.
Magico is second choice behind STRESSFREE who has the ability to go very well off this mark and scored over hurdles last month.

1st (5) ![]() Serious Contender |
9/4(+0%) | (5) Serious Contender 9/4, Son of Wootton Bassett who improved with each of his three runs last season, signing off with a willing success in 10-runner maiden here (8f, soft) in October. Appeals as the sort to do a fair bit better stepping up in trip for his handicap bow. Major player for yard with fine record in this event. Course maiden winner over 1m, Ryan Moore's pick from a choice of three, obvious chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Light As Air |
5/1(+17%) | (8) Light As Air 5/1, Wootton Bassett colt failed to build on his debut promise when third of 10 in maiden (4/6) at Gowran (8.3f, heavy) 160 days ago. Remains with potential now going handicapping though. Half-brother to St Leger winner Continuous, has run only twice and is open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Glen To Glen |
11/1(-38%) | (1) Glen To Glen 11/1, Thrice-raced winner. Won 13-runner maiden (25/1) at the Curragh (6f, soft) 14 days ago, always holding on. Significantly up in trip. Much respected on his handicap debut. Long-priced Curragh maiden winner for this rider, plenty of weight, 10lb claim will help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) ![]() Mocking |
9/1(+50%) | (13) Mocking 9/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 5½ lengths fifth of 11 to Galveston in maiden (66/1) at Naas (8f, good to soft), met some trouble. Off 169 days but stable having good spell. Possibilities on his first go in handicaps. Can be given some sort of chance based on his fifth behind today's rival Galveston at Naas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Dahlia Noir |
11/1(+39%) | (7) Dahlia Noir 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 16/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, 9½ lengths fifth of 6 to January in listed race at Tipperary (7.4f, good to firm). Off 7 months. Makes handicap debut. Not written off. Showed promise in maidens at this venue, sights lowered after Listed bid last August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (15) ![]() Birdie Time |
25/1(+24%) | (15) Birdie Time 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 28/1, fourth of 7 in maiden at Galway (7f, heavy). Off 153 days. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Something to find on form. Hard to make a case for her and the stable has a more obvious contender in Lady O. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Galveston |
5/1(+9%) | (2) Galveston 5/1, Frankel colt won 11-runner maiden at Naas (8f, good to soft, 10/3) 169 days ago. Has more to offer going up in trip for his handicap debut. Not taken lightly. Flopped on debut at Naas, made amends at same venue on second start, one of stable trio. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Berto Ramirez |
11/1(+45%) | (9) Berto Ramirez 11/1, Respectable fifth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 12/1). Off 123 days. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. No forlorn hope. Failed to build on his second in a 7f maiden at this venue last August, handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Lady O |
20/1(-11%) | (3) Lady O 20/1, Lightly-raced winner. Two wins from 5 runs last year. 16/1, 23½ lengths last of 6 to Sigh No More in Eyrefield Stakes at this course (9f, soft). Off 162 days. Others more persuasive. Now 12lb higher than when winning a Galway nursery, highly tried on final start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (17) ![]() Georg Zhukov |
40/1(-21%) | (17) Georg Zhukov 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, below form eighth of 13 in maiden at Dundalk (7f). Off 137 days. Significantly up in trip. More is required on his handicap bow. Hampered on debut, respectable second at Thurles, Dundalk form not as encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) ![]() Sunriseontheboyne |
22/1(-100%) | (10) Sunriseontheboyne 22/1, 10/1, career best when winning 11-runner handicap at Dundalk (7f) 9 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Stable in good form. Progressing well recently. Strong recent form at Dundalk, has won on soft, needs to prove stamina for this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) ![]() Sugar Club |
16/1(+20%) | (12) Sugar Club 16/1, Lightly-raced winner. Respectable eighth of 16 in minor event at Naas (7f, good to soft, 18/1). Off 168 days but not ruled out over this longer distance. Won a maiden over 1m at Bellewstown, not as effective over shorter trips subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (6) ![]() Just Before |
16/1(+20%) | (6) Just Before 16/1, Lightly-raced winner. 15/2, last of 4 in minor event at Dundalk (10.7f) 37 days ago, not knocked about. Makes handicap debut. Can give a good account. Won a 7f maiden at this venue on soft, failed to feature when raised in trip at Dundalk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (16) ![]() Flynn Ryder |
50/1(-52%) | (16) Flynn Ryder 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 125/1) 9 days ago, having to pick his way through. Significantly up in trip now handicapping. Considered. Some merit in his Dundalk form, needs to prove stamina and ability to handle an ease. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (14) ![]() You Are Mine |
25/1(-14%) | (14) You Are Mine 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, very good third of 13 in nursery at Dundalk (8f). Off 135 days. Up in trip. Looks competitive on form. Outran her 33-1 odds when third over 1m at Dundalk on handicap debut, modest turf form. |

100/1(-52%) | (11) I'll Be Handy 100/1, Last of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, soft, 25/1) 14 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Needs a couple of these to falter. Massive improvement needed, takes a big step up in trip after last of 13 over 6f. |
Aidan O'Brien has won this handicap four times in the past eight years and SERIOUS CONTENDER may prove the pick of his trio. The selection was prominent throughout on all three outings last year, including when successful here over a mile, and is bred to appreciate this step up in trip. Galveston made all to land a mile maiden at Naas, with Mocking not enjoying a clear run behind in fifth, and is another to consider along with Glen To Glen, who made a winning reappearance over 6f at the Curragh a fortnight ago. Dahlia Noir kept good company last year and is also noted.
Aidan O'Brien has a fine recent record in this and his upwardly-mobile Wootton Bassett colt SERIOUS CONFIDENCE looks a very likely sort now going into handicaps and earns a confident vote. Stablemate Galveston also comes here on the back of a last-time-out victory and is next on the list ahead of Sunriseontheboyne and Light As Air.
In a wide-open contest, MISTER ADAM is put forward as an each-way proposition. Serious Contender is an obvious danger

1st (3) ![]() Numitor |
11/2(+45%) | (3) Numitor 11/2, Enhanced healthy strike rate over fences at Wincanton on return and as good as ever when defying a 3 lb rise at Cheltenham in December. Freshened up following a rare poor effort at Market Rasen in January but this test could be on the limit of his stamina. Won three times over 2m4f last year; current mark not beyond him if this new trip suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Two For Gold |
11/2(+8%) | (1) Two For Gold 11/2, Unreliable on the whole but landed this race 2 years ago and runner-up from a 1 lb higher mark 12 months ago. Resumed following wind surgery with a good third here in November and whilst disappointing a month later, bounce back not ruled out back from a break. Didn't fire last time but still has good Ascot record; returns here fresh and on good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Authorized Art |
9/1(+44%) | (2) Authorized Art 9/1, Smart chaser for Willie Mullins and positive start for new yard when third in 2m listed hurdle at Kempton in October. Let down by his jumping in Grand Sefton at Aintree next time and below best both starts over hurdles/fences since. Fitting of blinkers need to have positive effect now. Ran quite well (over hurdles) on stable debut but has looked out of sorts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Deise Aba |
10/1(+29%) | (5) Deise Aba 10/1, Successful on 4 of 6 starts in points prior to just failing at Wincanton on debut for present yard in October. However, consistency not his strong suit and he was a well-beaten tenth of 11 in handicap chase at Kempton (3m) in December. Had a break ahead of this so he could revive. Went very close on stable debut in October but ended 2024 with two disappointing efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Credo |
10/3(-90%) | (4) Credo 10/3, Useful handicapper who made it 2 wins from 3 starts since the visor was applied in 4-runner veterans' handicap at Carlisle (24.5f) 7 days ago, leading last and keeping on run-in. Has to merit respect under a penalty in this form. In-form mare who is 2-3 since fitted with a visor; respected in current mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Northern Poet |
6/4(+40%) | (7) Northern Poet 6/4, Recorded a hat-trick switched to fences in the second half of 2022/23 and he lines up here as good as ever, following up his Doncaster veterans' success in 7-runner Warwick handicap (29.2f) 3 weeks ago, finishing best. Player up 4 lb in another hat-trick bid. Back in good form this month, winning twice on good ground (3m/3m5f); one to consider. |
Credo has to be of interest having won two of her last three starts, although a 6lb penalty for the latest of those victories is a concern. Similar comments apply to the hat-trick seeking Northern Poet, but the vote goes to TWO FOR GOLD. The 12-year-old failed to fire in a valuable event here in December but is now 4lb lower than when an encouraging fourth in another competitive contest over C&D the time before. On that evidence, he could take some stopping if returning to form.
Likeable mare CREDO justified good support when making it 2 wins from her last 3 starts equipped with a visor/under Harry Cobden at Carlisle last week and she could be the answer under a penalty in this sort of form. Fellow in-form 10-y-o Northern Poet arrives in search of the hat-trick and is feared, with Two For Gold, who landed this race 2 years ago, another worth a look back from a break.
2023 winner TWO FOR GOLD returns here on a good mark and gets the nod in the hope he's back on song after his 99-day break.

1st (1) ![]() Ballysax Hank |
11/2(-175%) | (1) Ballysax Hank 11/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Hooded for 1st time, keeping on when unseating last in maiden at Naas (20.1f, soft, 33/1) on debut over fences 21 days ago. Would have run to a pretty useful level and should be bang there with a clear round. Jumping let him down on recent chase debut, better ground here could see improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Heroes Rise |
2/1(+43%) | (3) Heroes Rise 2/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Creditable fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Naas (19.5f, soft, 10/1) 21 days ago. Makes chase debut for a top yard. Okay runs in handicap hurdles of late, 5yo now tries chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Step Out |
7/1(-8%) | (4) Step Out 7/1, Fairly useful chaser. 9/1, fourth of 5 in handicap chase at Kelso (21.6f, good to soft) 29 days ago. Not discredited at Kelso latest but more needed to play a major role here; has his ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Digby |
20/1(-25%) | (2) Digby 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. Remote fifth of 6 in novice chase at Down Royal (19.6f, good, 15/2) 13 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Recent return to fences at Down Royal was poor so plenty of questions to answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Your Honor |
12/1(+14%) | (6) Your Honor 12/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 32 lengths third of 4 to Champ Kiely in Flyingbolt Novices' Chase (66/1) at Navan (16f, heavy) on debut over fences 29 days ago. Respected with sights lowered. Out of depth on recent chase debut; this looks more realistic but quicker ground not ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() True Testimony |
4/1(-45%) | (7) True Testimony 4/1, Fairly useful chaser. 20/1, fourth of 7 in maiden chase at Clonmel (20f, heavy) 31 days ago. That form sets the standard here. Recent Clonmel run augurs well providing she handles these quicker conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) ![]() Tell Nobody Nothin |
4/1(+71%) | (5) Tell Nobody Nothin 4/1, Winner of a maiden hurdle here in September. Remote sixth on previous chase start but too soon to suggest he won't make the grade over fences. Good hurdles form here earlier in the season; needs to jump better but time on his side. |
TRUE TESTIMONY drops in grade following useful efforts against capable mares in two runs this season. She showed nice ability in maiden hurdles last season and looks to have plenty in her favour. Debut point-to-point winner Heroes Rise has decent hurdles form and has to be noted. Ballysax Hank was probably unsuited by testing ground on his most recent starts, but has something to prove back on a sounder surface.
If TRUE TESTIMONY can reproduce last month's Gowran form she's probably the one to beat. This is more realistic for Your Honour than the Grade 3 he tackled on his chase debut and he's second choice ahead of Gavin Cromwell's Ballysax Hank.
A very open look to this beginners chase, it could pay to keep the faith with TELL NOBODY NOTHIN

1st (5) ![]() Stanage |
25/1(+11%) | (5) Stanage 25/1, Opened account in first-time blinkers at Chelmsford City in October, his final run for John & Thady Gosden. Unproven on the ground when well held at this C&D (heavy) on stable debut, but others still preferred on his return (hood now the choice of headgear). Second run for this yard; switches to a hood this time and maybe isn't the percentage call. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Warm Spell |
33/1(-106%) | (1) Warm Spell 33/1, Off the mark at Newbury (7f) on second start but raced only twice last year, no extra in the closing stages when eighth of 9 in handicap at Chester (6.1f, good) in July. Off further 8 months ahead of first run since leaving Roger Varian. Tongue strap on 1st time. Lightly raced; left Roger Varian for 38,000gns last September; tongue tied first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Under The Twilight |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Under The Twilight 16/1, Made a winning reappearance at Windsor (6f) last season but wasn't able to match that level subsequently, eighth of 14 at Kempton (7f) when last seen in November. Needs to get back on the up after 5 months off. Won last season's reappearance and she's 4lb below that mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Circe |
13/2(+19%) | (2) Circe 13/2, C&D winner who also scored in a Newbury handicap (8f) in July. Better than bare result when fourth at Goodwood next time and, after a couple of below-par efforts, ran up to her best when second of 5 at Kempton (6f) in October. Could be in the mix. Last July's win was 1m on turf and she ended that campaign with a big run over 6f on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) ![]() Chuzzlewit |
17/2(+23%) | (13) Chuzzlewit 17/2, Thirteen runs since last win in March last year. However, with blinkers back on he shaped better than distance beaten suggests when third of 7 at Newcastle (8f) 24 days ago, left poorly placed. On a dangerous mark if building on his latest run. 22lb below his peak mark and beaten about 3l in his two AW races this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) ![]() Vibrato |
22/1(-10%) | (11) Vibrato 22/1, Showed improved form on all-weather to end 2024, winning 3 of his final 4 outings. However, he's been below that level in his 4 starts this year, eighth of 10 in handicap (9/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 17 days ago. Has had only one turf race but he's 1lb below his last winning mark on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Metaverse |
9/4(+59%) | (3) Metaverse 9/4, Gradually went the right way in handicaps last season, scoring at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) in July. Shaped as if still in good form on final 2 outings, seeming by conditions at Newbury (soft) in September. Respected on his reapearance. Peak form in a hood over 7f (good to firm) and he's a player if returning at that level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Yantarni |
15/2(+53%) | (8) Yantarni 15/2, Recorded a 7f hat-trick last summer but ended the campaign on a low-key note and failed to fully fire in 3 starts in Bahrain this year, sixth of 14 in handicap at Sakhir (9.9f, good) 24 days ago. Back down in grade/trip, though others still more persuasive. Back from Bahrain; more interesting at this trip and cracking chance on best 2024 efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) ![]() Golden Pharaoh |
16/1(+43%) | (14) Golden Pharaoh 16/1, Mixed bag in handful of turf starts upon joining this yard last summer, but stepped up on recent run from further reduced mark when fifth of 12 at Southwell (7.1f) last month. Wasn't in the same form back at Southwell 6 days later, though. Down the weights and close up on penultimate start, but others have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Society Lion |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Society Lion 40/1, Made it back-to-back wins when scoring at this course (8f) in June last year. Form was in-and-out subsequently, though ran well on his final outing when fourth of 7 at Yarmouth (7f, soft) in October. May just be vulnerable to his younger rivals. Inconsistent; has a chance if on song for this reappearance as 8yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) ![]() Woodstock |
18/1(+10%) | (4) Woodstock 18/1, Three wins from 13 runs last year, with latest success at Newbury (7f) in August. Below form next 2 starts but bounced back when fifth of 13 at Southwell (7.1f) in October, so he could give a good account having run well fresh in previous seasons. Three 7f wins last year but well beaten over C&D sole start here; might need a career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) ![]() Daring Legend |
14/1(-75%) | (10) Daring Legend 14/1, Three-time winner last year but hasn't managed to come on for this season's reappearance, unable to sustain effort when seventh of 9 at Kempton (7f) last month. However, he's now only 1 lb above his last winning mark so he's not ruled out. Two 7f turf wins last summer; a notch or two below his best in three AW runs this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (6) ![]() Madame De Sevigne |
4/1(+20%) | (6) Madame De Sevigne 4/1, Opened her account at Leicester last summer and got back on the up when doubling her tally at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) in October. Progressed again in defeat when runner-up also at Newmarket (heavy) the following month and she's a major player on return. Up 2lb for this reappearance but can figure if keeping up the good 7f work. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (15) ![]() Outrun The Storm |
20/1(-67%) | (15) Outrun The Storm 20/1, Won twice last season and left behind his first 2 efforts of the current year when third at Newcastle (7.1f) 17 days ago, leading until over 1f out. Is 3 lb below his last winning mark if able to back up his recent run. Well handicapped on 2024 wins; latest AW start was a big step back in the right direction. |
ATA RANGI is highly notable starting out for Ed Walker and could well make a winning start to his handicapping career. The son of Decorated Knight was the ready winner of a maiden at Roscommon on his final start for Henry De Bromhead and has bags of scope to make further progress from a mark of just 76. The lightly-weighted Chuzzlewit and Outrun The Storm have been in fair form on all-weather and revert to turf with each-way chances. However, Madame De Sevigne's most recent form has a solid look and she rates the biggest threat to the selection.
MADAME DE SEVIGNE ended last year on the up, scoring at Newmarket in October before a good second at the same course the following month, so she is taken to resume winning ways on her return. The main danger could be Metaverse, who had excuses on his final 2 starts in 2024, while Ata Rangi is an interesting contender as he makes his stable/handicap debut.
It's a major puzzle but the most interesting candidate may be YANTARNI, then Circe and Madame De Sevigne.

11/2(+8%) | (3) Artful Approach 11/2, Winner at Galway in July. 11/2, fourth of 6 in minor event at Killarney (8.1f, good to soft) when last seen, left poorly placed. Off 7 months. Cheekpieces back on. Won at Galway last year, ran well here last June in cheekpieces, chance for in form yard. |

22/1(-10%) | (4) Expound 22/1, 8/1, sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16.2f, good to soft) 175 days ago. Fairly useful on the Flat, creditable on last Flat run. 2-14 on turf on the Flat, jockey claims 10lb, has gone well fresh, place chance. |

10/1(+17%) | (15) Neo Smart 10/1, 7/1, bit below form seventh of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft) 14 days ago. AW winner, 0-14 on turf, best form on soft, improve for latest, rain would enhance chance. |

16/1(-14%) | (8) Zipster 16/1, Won at Southwell in August. 4/1, first run since leaving Simon & Ed Crisford when twelfth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (8f) 58 days ago. Won off 69 at Yarmouth last May, may have needed latest on stable bow, well drawn, claims. |

7th (13) ![]() Rampage |
18/1(+28%) | (13) Rampage 18/1, Course winner. Good fourth of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft, 25/1) 14 days ago. Has won here over 1m1f, ground versatile, fit from the AW, draw not ideal, place claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Derry Lad |
12/1(-50%) | (2) Derry Lad 12/1, Below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Listowel (12f, good to soft, 9/2) when last seen. Off 6 months. Significantly back down in trip. First run for yard after leaving Kevin Thomas Coleman. 4-26, new yard, last won in June 2023, lacks a run, probably best watched unless backed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) ![]() Chavajod |
10/1(-43%) | (14) Chavajod 10/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. 16/1, third of 13 in handicap at Dundalk (8f) on return 16 days ago. One to consider. C&D winner off 1lb lower, had a sharpener at Dundalk, David Egan booked, could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) ![]() Bucaneer's Spirit |
16/1(-14%) | (1) Bucaneer's Spirit 16/1, Latest win at Navan in September. Tenth of 14 in handicap (16/1) at Dundalk (10.7f) 9 days ago. Back down in trip. Two-time winner at 1m on nice ground, fit from AW, 4lb above last win, poorly drawn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (16) ![]() Thrifty Of Digby |
22/1(+12%) | (16) Thrifty Of Digby 22/1, Winner at Gowran in October. 7/1, fourteenth of 18 in handicap at Galway (8.3f, heavy) 153 days ago. Gowran winner off 6lb lower, Foley prefers her stablemate, probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) ![]() Dont Do Dramas |
33/1(+18%) | (18) Dont Do Dramas 33/1, 10/1, below form 8¾ lengths ninth of 15 to Thrifty of Digby in handicap at Gowran (8.3f, heavy) 160 days ago. 3-18 on turf, 1lb below last win, lacks a run and is poorly drawn, probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (19) ![]() Maharajjah |
80/1(-21%) | (19) Maharajjah 80/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, below form seventh of 13 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 6/1) 37 days ago, met some trouble. First run for yard after leaving J. F. Levins. Makes handicap debut. Handicap debutant, promise in maidens at Dundalk, struggled on turf, watch on stable bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (12) ![]() Encosta |
13/2(+74%) | (12) Encosta 13/2, Course winner. 11/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 9 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) 116 days ago. Back down in trip. Course winner over 10f, form figures of 32331 at this venue, wide draw but can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (5) ![]() Counterculture |
9/2(+55%) | (5) Counterculture 9/2, Won at Roscommon in August. 15/2, bit below form fifth of 20 in handicap at this course (10f, heavy) 161 days ago. Still lightly raced starting second season. 1-7, poorly drawn, sole win came on heavy, may need softer ground and lacks a run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (7) ![]() Mythical Rock |
20/1(+20%) | (7) Mythical Rock 20/1, Last of 10 in handicap (13/2) at Dundalk (8f) 23 days ago, left with too much to do. Fair mark and one to note. 0-8 on turf but has run well in defeat, placed off 3lb higher at Galway, can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (20) ![]() Sub Rosa |
125/1(-25%) | (20) Sub Rosa 125/1, 100/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 107 days ago. Promise in 2023 for Roger Varian, showed nothing for this yard last year, hard to fancy. |
RAMPAGE has won three times including over 1m1f at this venue and has been placed on his last two turf starts. The Tom McCourt-trained gelding was having his second outing in the space of 48 hours when a creditable fourth at the Curragh most recently. Dark Viper is a frustrating sort to follow and filled the runner-up spot for the eighth time in the space of 12 months when reappearing at the Curragh a fortnight ago. Chavajod has dropped down to a competitive mark and David Egan is an interesting booking.
CHAVAJOD made an encouraging return at Dundalk a fortnight ago and this C&D winner could be the way to go under David Egan. Dark Viper and Counterculture are a couple of the other likely players in a wide-open handicap.
Preference is for MIGDAM who is well drawn, is fit from the AW and he's 15lb below his last winning turf mark.

1st (1) ![]() Court In The Act |
4/6(+73%) | (1) Court In The Act 4/6, Made all in Market Rasen handicap (16.6f) on reappearance in October. Not in the same at Windsor 3 months later, but got back on track when fourth at Kempton (21f, soft) last month. All 3 career victories on good ground and he's capable of a bold bid. Ran well in a competitive 2m5f handicap last time; forecast drier ground is favourable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Court Cian |
2/1(+11%) | (2) Court Cian 2/1, Has shown improved form since joining Stuart Edmunds, recording his third win for current trainer when scoring under Murray Dodd at Market Rasen (23.1f, good) 26 days ago. Respected with the potential of more still to offer. Upwardly mobile gelding who won with a bit in hand at Market Rasen; that form is solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Fontana Ellissi |
11/2(+75%) | (4) Fontana Ellissi 11/2, Fair winning handicap hurdler who has been lightly raced in recent seasons, unfortunate when failing to complete at Kelso (20.9f, good to soft) on his latest outing (stumbled soon after 3 out). Others still preferred. Well treated and was running a good race when slipping up before two out at Kelso. |
COURT CIAN appeared to have plenty in hand when winning over 2m7f at Market Rasen earlier in the month and that was his third win from his last five starts. A 5lb rise may still underestimate this progressive seven-year-old and he merits plenty of respect. Loverdose is also going in the right direction and could give the selection most to think about. Court In The Act is best of the rest.
LOVERDOSE has been most progressive in handicap hurdles, winning 4 times from 6 starts and showing a good attitude in defeat when second at Newbury on his latest outing, so he is taken to continue his improvement and add to his tally. Court Cian has also been going the right way for his current yard and could be the biggest threat, ahead of Court In The Act.
The 9yo FONTANA ELLISSI is potentially the best handicapped of these and he was running a big race when slipping up at Kelso.

1st (1) ![]() Asphalt Cowboy |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Asphalt Cowboy 4/1, Dual winning pointer who made a positive start to his hunter career when 4 lengths second of 11 at Thurles (25f) 24 days ago. Should go well again. 2-10 in points, fine effort in defeat in similar race to this latest, solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Cause For Comment |
6/4(+55%) | (6) Cause For Comment 6/4, Fifth in a bumper for Willie Mullins last summer and also placed in a pair of 3m points this year. Joined a new stable for his hunter debut. Promise in a Galway bumper and two points for Willie Mullins, new yard now, considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Last Round |
15/2(-50%) | (4) Last Round 15/2, Point winner. Finished 11 lengths behind the reopposing Asphalt Cowboy on his Thurles hunter debut but seemed to pay for a big move into contention on that occasion and he's likely to improve for his top stable. Won on soft at Tinahely in January, held by Asphalt Cowboy latest, may need softer ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Cosmic Blizzard |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Cosmic Blizzard 9/1, Lost his way over fences at the end of last summer but arrives in form from the pointing field. 1-6 in points, beat Drumcliff Bay on penultimate, can't discount with ground to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Step Up Son |
4/1(-146%) | (5) Step Up Son 4/1, Twice-raced maiden. Left his first run under Rules well behind when second of 13 in hunter chase (100/1) at Gowran (25f, heavy) 22 days ago. Will be tough to beat with a repeat of that form. 2-12 in points, fine effort at big odds latest at Gowran, big chance if handles the ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Townhill Lass |
80/1(-220%) | (8) Townhill Lass 80/1, Pulled up in hunter chase at Clonmel (20f, soft, 150/1) on NH debut 74 days ago. Has won a point since but likely up against it back under Rules. Won a maiden point last month, pulled up at Clonmel previously, more needed to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) ![]() Drumcliff Bay |
17/2(+23%) | (3) Drumcliff Bay 17/2, Modest form at best over hurdles and also 0-7 in points. Headgear added for hunter chase debut. Best watched. Closely matched with Cosmic Blizzard, has course form, cheekpieces & tongue tie go on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) ![]() Kingston Coole |
150/1(-355%) | (7) Kingston Coole 150/1, Point win last May but pulled up in a hunter in January and suffered a similar fate back in the pointing field since. Outsider. Won a point in May 2024, pulled up last two starts, hood and tongue tie now tried. |
CAUSE FOR COMMENT is a maiden point-to-pointer but has shown nice ability and is open to further progression in this sphere, being just a five-year-old. From a fine family, the selection wasn't beaten too far in a Galway Festival bumper last July and has since performed well in point-to-points for his new trainer. He made a bad mistake on his pointing debut before running quite well at Punchestown last month. Asphalt Cowboy is proven at this level, having finished second to a useful type in a similar race at Thurles last time, where Last Round finished third.
If STEP UP SON is in the same form as when runner-up at Gowran 3 weeks ago he may have a bit too much for Thurles 2-3 Asphalt Cowboy and Last Round.
It might be worth taking a chance on DRUMCLIFF BAY who has previously run well at this venue over hurdles

1st (5) ![]() Alzahir |
13/2(+46%) | (5) Alzahir 13/2, Has been running with credit on the AW this winter and returns to turf on a potentially handy mark following wind surgery. Needs to settle but has each-way claims if he does. Held his own in handicaps last season and now has first run after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) ![]() Stockpyle |
18/1(+0%) | (12) Stockpyle 18/1, Won back-to-back races last summer but ended time with William Muir & Chris Grassick with a low-key effort. Shaped as though better for the run having finished fourth at Newcastle 18 days ago, but more required in a stronger race back on turf (wears first-time tongue-tie). Four wins; the race he ran at Newcastle recently smacked of a horse who needed the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) ![]() Grabajabba |
28/1(-75%) | (11) Grabajabba 28/1, Won a pair of 7f novices at the end of 2024 but his progress has stalled in handicaps over recent months. Drop back to 7f may suit but looks to have a bit to find on turf debut. Won two 7f novices but beaten about 5l in his two handicaps, both Class 4s. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Dolce Courage |
22/1(-120%) | (7) Dolce Courage 22/1, Successful on debut over 7f for John & Thady Gosden and ran creditably back at that distance on most recent run for current connections, staying on into fourth (hung left) having been slowly away. Addition of first-time blinkers looks a positive and lightly-raced 5-y-o may be capable of better. Close fourth at Southwell the last time and the blinkers could be a notable addition. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Bubbles Wonky |
9/2(+68%) | (8) Bubbles Wonky 9/2, Progressive in novice events over 7f but has largely struggled in handicaps. finishing last season with a disappointing effort at Hamilton (9.2f) having not looked the easiest of rides. Dropped 3 lb for that and has since been gelded but others preferred. Novice winner; he has been gelded ahead of this campaign and could easily turn a corner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) ![]() Onemorenomore |
6/1(+0%) | (13) Onemorenomore 6/1, Three-time course winner, twice over C&D (latest in October last year). Ran well on his reappearance on the AW last month and that should put him spot on for this test. Respected. Three-time winner here and returned to his best with a near miss at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Zip |
7/1(+7%) | (4) Zip 7/1, C&D winner in November, making all in testing conditions. Followed that up with a victory at Newcastle and has remained in good form on the AW over the winter. Consistent sort should give another good account, for all he does most of his winning with more give in the ground. Goes well here and has been in fine form on the AW; another bold show looks on the cards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Imperial Guard |
13/2(-44%) | (6) Imperial Guard 13/2, Winner of 6f Kempton maiden for Andrew Balding and shaped as though worth a return to 7f on final run for that yard, staying on to finish second in a handicap at Newmarket (6f) in September. Since sold for 67,000 gns and open to improvement on stable debut following wind surgery. Did well for Andrew Balding; bought for 67,000gns and now gelded; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) ![]() Tropez Power |
8/1(+27%) | (10) Tropez Power 8/1, Last win came at Southwell (7f, AW) last April but traded at short prices in-running in handicaps on the turf subsequently. Has been ticking over on the AW in recent months but arrives trying to exploit 5 lb lower turf mark. Not ruled out. Struggled of late but a free-goer for whom a good pace up front would aid the cause no end. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Another Investment |
33/1(-136%) | (9) Another Investment 33/1, Smooth-travelling sort hit the frame on his final two starts on the AW last season, still shaping as though feasibly handicapped. Could be suited by the return to a big-field handicap and he's very interesting if ready to roll after a 145-day absence. A 6yo having his 40th career start and has only won twice; 0-11 last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) ![]() Mereside Madness |
22/1(-38%) | (14) Mereside Madness 22/1, Has won a trio of races on the AW and his latest run is best ignored having been short of room and considerately handled by his jockey. In good heart prior to that, although he does have more on his plate back on turf in this company. All three wins have been on the AW; he hasn't reached quite the same heights on turf (0-7). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) ![]() Liamarty Dreams |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Liamarty Dreams 12/1, C&D winner struggled for form at the end of last season but fared much better returning from a 6-month break when fourth of 12 at Newcastle (8f) in January, albeit with the benefit of an easy lead. Failed to back that up when last in a 7f Southwell handicap 44 days ago and needs to bounce back. Won this off a similar mark last year and he's been contesting higher-grade races since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (15) ![]() Jenni |
50/1(-127%) | (15) Jenni 50/1, Winner at Ayr over this trip in September when trained by David O'Meara. Gradually went off the boil for that yard but now makes stable debut from only 1 lb above her latest winning mark. One to note in the betting on return. Only 1-17 and her Ayr win in September was no springboard to better things. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) ![]() Dapper Valley |
6/1(+20%) | (2) Dapper Valley 6/1, Seemingly ground versatile and having lost his way for Richard Hannon, bounced back to his best on second run for this yard when winning 7-runner handicap at Yarmouth (7f, soft) having raced keenly. Has gone well fresh in the past and no surprise if he picks up where he left on his return. Rated higher in the past so a 3lb rise for his Yarmouth win isn't the end of the world. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (1) ![]() Habrdi |
66/1(-100%) | (1) Habrdi 66/1, Progressive when winning 3 times at up to 1m at the end of 2023 but last of 10 in German 2000 Guineas at Cologne on final start for Jane Chapple-Hyam. Ran poorly on only start for James Horton and now finds himself with a new yard having been gelded for his return. Bit to prove. Gelded ahead of stable debut and the form is there to figure if he can get back on track. |
Having finished last season with a never-nearer second over 6f at Newmarket, stable debutant IMPERIAL GUARD makes plenty of appeal reverting to 7f. The Michael Dods-trained four-year-old is only 1lb higher on this return to action and he looks open to improvement over today's distance. The biggest threat may emerge from Zip, who has been in decent heart on the all-weather in recent months. Dolce Courage, Dapper Valley and Onemorenomore are others to consider in an open affair.
A competitive big-field handicap with a few who tend to go forward, and this could be run to suit DAPPER VALLEY who finished last season on a high when travelling smoothly to win at Yarmouth. He's gone well fresh in the past and gets the vote ahead of Tropez Power who may have another race in him off a 5 lb lower turf mark. Another Investment is usually patiently-ridden and could have a big say if ready to roll after a 145-day absence.
The likelihood of a fast-run race heightens interest in TROPEZ POWER who could be overlooked in the market.

Bit to prove at present. Dual course winner, won off 3lb higher at Bellewstown last October, nice draw, go well. |

18/1(-80%) | (14) Saxon Kingdom 18/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Respectable sixth of 12 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 14/1) 16 days ago. Back down in trip. Can make presence felt. 0-9 on turf, ran well here off 65 in June last year, drawn wide, but can't discount. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) ![]() Dancing Bay |
8/1(+68%) | (15) Dancing Bay 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 7 in maiden at Galway (7f, heavy, 80/1). Off 153 days. Makes handicap debut. Stiff task. Handicap debutant, not obviously well treated, drawn wide; lacks a run, best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) ![]() Browned Off |
50/1(-100%) | (12) Browned Off 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, sixth of 8 in maiden at Dundalk (8f) 46 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Handicap debutante, no impact in AW maidens, could improve for turf, check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Mogwli |
22/1(+33%) | (6) Mogwli 22/1, Latest win at Bellewstown in October. Fourteenth of 16 in handicap at Galway (7f, heavy, 22/1). Off 153 days. Beat Eastern Wind when last winning at Bellewstown, goes well fresh, could outrun odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) ![]() Asisaid |
14/1(-75%) | (8) Asisaid 14/1, Course winner. 50/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, below form tenth of 18 in novice hurdle at Navan (16f, soft) 8 days ago. Fair on the Flat, below form on last Flat outing. Needs to bounce back. 2-21 on turf, has won here over 7f, 4lb below last win, poorly drawn, rain would help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (21) ![]() Feature This |
25/1(+24%) | (21) Feature This 25/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. Visored for 1st time, twelfth of 14 in handicap (18/1) at Dundalk (7f) 2 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Reserve. C&D winner off 3lb lower, engaged to run at Dundalk on Friday night; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (18) ![]() Albion Princess |
28/1(+44%) | (18) Albion Princess 28/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. Twelfth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 80/1) 37 days ago. Down in trip. Looks competitive on form. 1-10 on turf but that win was over three years ago, hard to fancy on recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (16) ![]() Swiss Army Officer |
33/1(-32%) | (16) Swiss Army Officer 33/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2023. 15¼ lengths fourteenth of 24 to Genuine Jim in handicap (40/1) at the Curragh (7f, soft), merely passing beaten rivals. Off 159 days. Enters calculations. 3-47, no win since May 2023, poorly drawn, others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

50/1(-52%) | (13) Top Of The Pops 50/1, Eighth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (7f, 66/1). Off 102 days.Plenty to prove at present. Lost form since debut win, no sign of revival for current yard, hard to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (20) ![]() Clarabell |
100/1(-150%) | (20) Clarabell 100/1, 50/1, last of 8 in handicap at Dundalk (7f) 46 days ago. Yet to trouble the judge in nine starts, four of them coming on turf, 5lb wrong, discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
19th (11) ![]() Seas And Oceans |
14/1(-17%) | (11) Seas And Oceans 14/1, Eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (7f, 13/2) 44 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Placed off this mark at Killarney in 2024, Lordan on board, has had a run, interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20th (7) ![]() An Laochmor |
28/1(+15%) | (7) An Laochmor 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 13 in handicap (66/1) at Dundalk (7f) 37 days ago. Plenty to find on form. Improved on h'cap debut on AW over 7f, well-drawn, step up to 1m needs to eke out more. |
GENUINE JIM provided Nicola Burns with her first winner when appreciating cut in the ground to land a 24-runner event at the Curragh last autumn and shaped well when out of the handicap on his only subsequent start. Master Garvey is versatile in terms of ground conditions and last time scored over this trip at Dundalk. Si Senor has dropped down to a competitive mark and was placed at Dundalk over the winter, while Seas And Oceans is another to consider.
A big field, but a mixed bag. MASTER GAREY looks the safest option to back up his Dundalk success. Saxon Kingdom and Latin are others to consider.
A tentative vote goes to SEAS AND OCEANS who went close off this sort of mark a couple of times last year.

1st (9) ![]() Thunder Star |
6/1(+40%) | (9) Thunder Star 6/1, C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 7/1 and blinkered for 1st time, last of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 45 days ago. Was proving consistent prior to that and bounce back distinctly possible with cheekpieces back on. Losing run is mounting up but she returns to turf off a handy mark; 1-1 here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Abate |
9/1(+10%) | (1) Abate 9/1, 4-time winner in 2023 whose form was rather up and down last season, running below best when sixth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, heavy) on final start in October. However, on a very attractive mark on pick of form if ready to roll back from 5 months off. Yard took this 12 months ago. 0-13 last term (placed twice) but starts his 2025 season on an attractive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) ![]() Dandy Dinmont |
12/1(+33%) | (12) Dandy Dinmont 12/1, Bounced back to form granted a good pace to aim at when bagging 12-runner C&D handicap in July. Exploits mixed in 6 starts thereafter but gone well fresh in the past and he returns from 5 months off lurking on a handy mark. Defied a 4lb higher mark in sole C&D attempt; effective when fresh; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) ![]() Bear Rock |
28/1(-27%) | (13) Bear Rock 28/1, Fair maiden who enhanced run of good placed efforts when second of in novice at Wolverhampton (6f) in January. Switch to handicaps in her favour and she's not discounted back at the minimum trip. Has proved consistent at maiden/novice level on AW; turf/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) ![]() Glory Fighter |
18/1(+0%) | (11) Glory Fighter 18/1, Capitalised on the marked drop in grade when successful at Musselburgh (5f) in August. Below best towards the end of the campaign but resumed with good placed efforts on AW, third of 8 in handicap (12/1) at Newcastle (5f) 26 days ago. Not out of things. Beaten twice in this race previously; most wins on sharper tracks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) ![]() Toptime |
25/1(-14%) | (14) Toptime 25/1, Course winner who proved better than ever when readily landing 12-runner Southwell handicap (5f) in December. Disappointed when last of 6 back at that venue in January but no surprise to see a better showing returning from a break. Successful last June in sole Doncaster attempt but this is a stiffer task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Glory Hyde |
11/1(-22%) | (4) Glory Hyde 11/1, Had a productive 2024, doubling her tally at Beverley (5f) in July and good placed efforts next 3 starts, second of 11 in handicap at Musselburgh (5f, good to soft) in October. Respected on return to action. Largely consistent record in 5f handicap features two wins; solid contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) ![]() Knicks |
9/1(+25%) | (3) Knicks 9/1, Confirmed promise of last season's reappearance second when winning from the front at Chester's May Meeting. Mixed bag thereafter but may of found busy spell catching up with him when down the field at Catterick (6f) on final start in October. Worth a second look from workable mark. Defied a 2lb higher mark at Chester last May; capable of being involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (19) ![]() Little Muddy |
9/1(+50%) | (19) Little Muddy 9/1, 9-y-o mare who won this race from an 11 lb higher mark 2 years ago. Ended last season out of form but shaped as if needing the run after 6 months off when last of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 8 days ago. Not dismissed returned to this venue. Revival is possible back at Doncaster; won a division of this race in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (17) ![]() Gustav Graves |
11/1(+39%) | (17) Gustav Graves 11/1, Added another success to his tally at Wolverhampton (5.1f) in January and remained in form since, respectable second of 7 in handicap back at that track/trip 8 days ago. Good pace to aim at will help back on turf from a workable mark. Best known for his AW achievements but ran well in this contest in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) ![]() Keldeo |
18/1(+10%) | (2) Keldeo 18/1, Successful twice at Catterick last season and respectable return from 6 months off when fifth of 6 in handicap (22/1) at Newcastle (5f) 23 days ago, no extra last ½f. Likely she'll be sharper with that run under her belt. May be more interesting when back at Catterick; gained both handicap wins there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) ![]() Opal Storm |
22/1(-22%) | (18) Opal Storm 22/1, Deservedly off the mark in 10-runner handicap at Beverley (5f) in August and good efforts in defeat thereafter, third of 10 in handicap (6/1) at Pontefract (5f, good to soft) in September. Consistency hard to knock and fancied to give a good account on seasonal bow. Ideally needs the surface to dry out thoroughly; both wins on good to firm. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (16) ![]() Classy Clarets |
25/1(-25%) | (16) Classy Clarets 25/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in December. Ninth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f, 12/1) 2 days ago. Something to find on form. Registered sole win in Class 6 on AW; slowly away and never figured at Southwell on Friday. |

14th (6) ![]() Project Dante |
11/1(-57%) | (6) Project Dante 11/1, Headgear did the trick at the second attempt when successful at Redcar (5f) in September. Possibly found underfoot conditions against him when sixth of 12 in handicap back there a month later and headgear discarded on return to action. Removal of blinkers looks a possible negative on reappearance. |

15th (10) ![]() Mattice |
17/2(+6%) | (10) Mattice 17/2, C&D winner who arrives on a losing run but ran well starting out for new yard when second of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) in November. Resumes on a handy mark and respected having gone close on last year's reappearance. Well handicapped on peak form and has won over C&D; second run for new yard. |

16th (15) ![]() Happier |
13/2(+24%) | (15) Happier 13/2, 5-y-o mare who was well suited by the switch to all-weather when making all in 10-runner handicap at Southwell (5f) in December, well on top finish. Effective on turf and still unexposed at this trip so worth a look on return to action. Suited by the drop to 5f when last seen; unexposed at this trip; respected. |

17th (7) ![]() Zuffolo |
25/1(-79%) | (7) Zuffolo 25/1, Latest win at Redcar in September. 18/1, bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) in December, weakening over 1f out. Blinkers left off ahead of return and this run may well bring him on. Gained both 2024 wins in blinkers, which are now discarded; others preferred. |
HAPPIER relished her first attempt over 5f when making all at Southwell in November. The daughter of Profitable scored with enough in hand to suggest that a 4lb higher rating is surmountable and reverting to turf shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Gustav Graves boasts a recent second at Wolverhampton and the seven-year-old's proven fitness could prove crucial in a race chock-full of returning rivals. Derek Shaw's gelding is feared most, ahead of Glory Hyde and Mattice.
Unsurprisingly a whole host holding claims with the narrow vote in favour of top-weight ABATE. He wasn't at his best towards the end of last season but lurks on a very handy mark on return, so could be the answer for the stable who bagged this prize 12 months ago. Knicks was probably best forgiven his final run of last term on account of the quick turnaround and he merits respect. Happier, Dandy Dinmont and Thunder Star are just a trio of others in the mix.
Preference is for interesting mare HAPPIER, who could well have more to offer at this trip. Dandy Dinmont is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
