|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/1(+56%) | (10) St Olan's Well 7/1, £80,000 purchase after finishing second in an Irish point in November 2023. It's taken a bit of time to get him to the track but it'll still be interesting to see what the betting makes of him. £80,000 buy after Irish point 2nd in November 2023 (form sound); one to consider on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (33/1 -32%) Sir Gauzy |

33/1(-175%) | (2) Blakey Boy 33/1, Has shown ability in 2 bumpers 6 months apart and this longer trip promises to suit now hurdling. Creditable efforts in two bumpers but probably best watched on first run over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (50/1 -52%) Jet Light |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Jet Light 50/1, £28,000 point recruit but more one for longer term under Rules judged on his Carlisle hurdle debut. £28,000 buy after 2 fair runs in Irish points; tailed off on hurdles debut; should improve. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (200/1 -203%) Dreamings Free |
200/1(-203%) | (4) Dreamings Free 200/1, Modest maiden hurdler in Ireland. Tongue tied first time now setting out for new trainer Maurice Barnes. Best watched. Ex-Irish; modest form so far; tongue-tie on for stable debut; others stronger. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
YOUNG GETAWAY has shown a fair amount of promise on both hurdle outings so far, including when third to a useful type of Dan Skelton's here in October, and the six-year-old is expected to benefit from a step up in distance. Al Kalila has a level of form that suggests he is likely to enter the reckoning on his first outing since Punchestown last April. Others for the shortlist include Jeune Prince and St Olan's Well.
AL KALILA has the best form if he's fully primed after 8 months off. Jeune Prince promises to benefit from this longer trip and is second choice ahead of the Nicky Richards-trained Young Getaway.
This can go to SCARLET JET, who won a UK point in May and improved on his first run over hurdles when fourth at Carlisle last time.

3/1(+45%) | (11) Vanderpoel 3/1, €38,000 3-y-o, £90,000 5-y-o. Dam unraced half-sister to fair hurdler/useful chaser (2m-2½m winner) Gentle Alice. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Nov 23). |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 +33%) George's Lad |
4/1(+33%) | (4) George's Lad 4/1, Held every chance when falling at the last in a point in April and built on hurdling debut when runner-up in a novice at Kempton last time, finishing with running left. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/1 +0%) Rubber Ball |
11/1(+0%) | (7) Rubber Ball 11/1, Irish point winner who ran to a fair level when fifth of 14 in bumper at Cheltenham and showed some aptitude when third in a novice at Warwick on hurdling debut. Dropped in trip and open to improvement. Irish point win; significant ability in a bumper at Cheltenham and 2m5f novice at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/1 -33%) Baseline |
6/1(-33%) | (1) Baseline 6/1, Pulled up sole start between the flags but stepped forward from hurdling debut when runner-up in a novice at Southwell last time and that's probably not his limit. Absent 792 days and hood was added when close second at Southwell (2m, good to soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/2 -80%) Serious Challenge |
9/2(-80%) | (8) Serious Challenge 9/2, Brother to fair hurdler Sheer Bravado (17f winner). Smart on Flat (stays 1¾m), in frame last 5 starts, not disgraced in listed event last time. Sold from J. S. Bolger 82,000 gns later in July and looks a potentially above-average recruit to hurdling. 1-17 on Flat in Ireland but stacks of useful form (stays 1m6f); 82,000gns buy in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (33/1 +0%) Educator |
33/1(+0%) | (3) Educator 33/1, Fairly useful at best on the Flat for Mick Appleby and showed a bit to work on making stable/hurdling debut in novice at Southwell. Needs to improve on that if he's to get involved, though. 28-1 and off six months when 18l fifth of 13 in 2m maiden hurdle at Southwell, staying on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (14/1 -27%) Theatre Tom |
14/1(-27%) | (10) Theatre Tom 14/1, Made frame both completed starts in Irish points and has shown fair form so far over hurdles, not having a hard time when fifth at Uttoxeter 13 days ago. Can do better with hood applied. Two of three attempts over hurdles showed ability but others have shown more; hood now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (200/1 -150%) Classical Sting |
200/1(-150%) | (2) Classical Sting 200/1, Bred to stay well and hasn't shown a great deal yet. Hooded now but he's probably more of a handicap type. Modest form in two 2m maiden hurdles at Southwell, a long way behind Baseline last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (16) (100/1 -203%) Foreseen |
100/1(-203%) | (16) Foreseen 100/1, Fairly useful on Flat (stays 9f), runner-up in Newmarket handicap last time. Interesting hurdling newcomer. Front-running second at Newmarket (1m1f, good; fair form) in November on latest Flat start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (13) (66/1 -230%) Tillaway |
66/1(-230%) | (13) Tillaway 66/1, Has shown ability in both bumpers and over hurdles but it will likely be in handicaps where she makes a bigger impact. Others are preferred despite her drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (18/1 +0%) Malfoy Manor |
18/1(+0%) | (6) Malfoy Manor 18/1, Runner-up in a point and generally better than the result so far over hurdles, finishing with running left when fifth in a novice at Uttoxeter last time. May yet improve. Settling has been an issue but last two starts confirmed that he has significant ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (20/1 -186%) Viva Valentina |
20/1(-186%) | (14) Viva Valentina 20/1, Masked Marvel mare who left the form of her sole bumper outing well behind when second in a Market Rasen novice on hurdling debut. That was 13 months ago and not seen since, but remains with potential. 2nd in maiden hurdle at Market Rasen (2m, good to soft) in November 2023 gives e-w chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (150/1 -275%) Hestina Hill |
150/1(-275%) | (5) Hestina Hill 150/1, Easy to back and well beaten on bumper debut at Southwell last month, hanging left and faltering early in straight. Switches to hurdles but others make more appeal. 12-1 for bumper at Southwell (good to soft) one month ago but beaten 50l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (15) (250/1 -67%) Voleur De Terres |
250/1(-67%) | (15) Voleur De Terres 250/1, Dual winning Irish pointer but didn't offer much at Uttoxeter on Rules debut 5 months ago. 2-11 in Irish points; beaten 50l when 50-1 in Uttoxeter maiden hurdle (2m, soft) in July. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Currently rated 102 on the Flat, Serious Challenge is a notable contender on his hurdles/stable debut. However, this isn't a straightforward assignment and it could be worth siding with VANDERPOEL, who was purchased for 90,000 pounds shortly after he won an Irish point-to-point in November. With his jumping ability more proven, the son of Sholokhov could be up to making a successful start under Rules. Baseline and George's Lad have shown promise over timber and also enter the reckoning.
SERIOUS CHALLENGE's Flat form is well above average and he's joined a shrewd stable, so he's worth a chance to make a winning start at the possible expense of Vanderpoel, a notable recruit from points. Baseline is the pick of those with hurdling experience.
George's Lad is preferred to Baseline among those with hurdles form but watch out for SERIOUS CHALLENGE and Vanderpoel.

1st (8) (1/4 +31%) Walking On A Dream |
1/4(+31%) | (8) Walking On A Dream 1/4, £45,000 purchase after finishing runner-up all 3 completed starts in Irish points (latest May 11). Bright start under Rules when chasing home the useful Country Mile in a C&D novice in October and this looks an excellent opportunity to get off the mark. Went close on rules debut over C&D in October and holds leading claims today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (20/1 +0%) Lizzie Luna |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Lizzie Luna 20/1, Modest form in bumpers and glimmers of promise both starts over hurdles in recent months. However, looks the type who could well come into her own when attentions switch to handicaps. Has shown some ability but yet to finish better than fifth and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/1 +8%) Jony R |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Jony R 11/1, Leading Light gelding who showed little when tenth of 11 in a C&D bumper on debut back in April. Betting can guide now attentions switch to hurdling. Well beaten on debut in bumper here in April but yard has won last 2 runnings of this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (100/1 -525%) Glenville |
100/1(-525%) | (3) Glenville 100/1, Down the field in a Haydock bumper in May and fared no better after 6 months off when fifth in 6-runner C&D contest 50 days ago. Hurdles debut. Down the field in both bumpers and lots of improvement is needed on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/1 +9%) Famous Liss |
5/1(+9%) | (2) Famous Liss 5/1, Fair form on third start when runner-up in a Hexham novice (16.2f) in June. Shaped as if needing the run when last of 6 on handicap debut at Kelso (20.9f) in October prior to taking a heavy fall at Carlisle later that month. Given a break and strong claims of making the frame. Something to prove regarding current form but went very close at Hexham in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (25/1 +69%) Red Ned |
25/1(+69%) | (6) Red Ned 25/1, Runner-up on the first of 2 starts in bumpers last season but offered little both starts over hurdles upon returning to action in October. Handicaps could be more his thing in due course. Short-headed in Southwell bumper in November 2023 but struggled on his three runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (200/1 -100%) Cage Rattler |
200/1(-100%) | (1) Cage Rattler 200/1, Modest 7f Flat winner who offered little both starts in maiden hurdles in November. Can only be watched. Modest on the Flat and tailed off at 125-1 in November on his two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (12/1 +70%) Jirko |
12/1(+70%) | (4) Jirko 12/1, Comfortably held both outings in bumpers and only minor promise in pair of novice/maiden hurdles so far this winter. However, he's an imposing sort and appeals as the type who will flourish at a later stage. Soundly beaten in both bumpers and it's been the same story on his two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (200/1 -100%) Cloudsareclearing |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Cloudsareclearing 200/1, Scorpion filly. 50/1, offered little when last of 5 in bumper at Perth (16.2f, soft) on NH debut 98 days ago, running green. Makes hurdles debut. Tailed off at 50-1 on her debut in a Perth bumper (2m, good) in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (66/1 +18%) The Dipper |
66/1(+18%) | (7) The Dipper 66/1, Well held in bumper and 2 novice hurdles. Tailed off on both hurdle starts and improvement is needed, including in his jumping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WALKING ON A DREAM made a pleasing start when finishing runner-up over C&D in October and this appears to represent an excellent opportunity for Lucinda Russell's gelding to go one better. Famous Liss is capable of being in the mix judged on his novice form last summer. The return to 2m may well be another positive, while Glenville appeals as the type to improve on his first attempt over hurdles.
WALKING ON A DREAM produced a promising first effort under Rules when chasing home the now useful Country Mile in a C&D novice in October and this looks a great opportunity for him to open his account with improvement anticipated. Famous Liss can fill the forecast spot.
Three-time point runner-up WALKING ON A DREAM was second over C&D on his rules debut and can go one better today.

1st (7) (11/2 +45%) J'habite En France |
11/2(+45%) | (7) J'habite En France 11/2, Regressive over hurdles and yet to offer much over fences. Doesn't make much appeal. Handicap hurdle/chase form does not pass muster; backed at Warwick on Tuesday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +29%) Abaya Du Mathan |
5/1(+29%) | (4) Abaya Du Mathan 5/1, Veteran who capitalised on some mercy from the assessor when winning 7-runner Southwell handicap in December. Failed to back it up at Warwick and has only been off a couple of days. Won well at Southwell (2m) in December from Extraordinary Man; not so good since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4/1 -60%) Extraordinary Man |
4/1(-60%) | (5) Extraordinary Man 4/1, One win from 21 NH runs. Respectable 7½ lengths second of 7 to Abaya Du Mathan in handicap chase (13/2) at Southwell (15.8f, soft) 30 days ago. Hood back on. Probably the one to beat in a very thin race. 1-21 overall; five seconds, chasing home Abaya Du Mathan at Southwell one month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2/1 +60%) Shuil Ceoil |
2/1(+60%) | (3) Shuil Ceoil 2/1, Fair winner at 22f over hurdles who left previous efforts over fences behind when fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Taunton on penultimate outing. Jumping let him down at Wincanton last time but there's a feeling that he still has more to offer in this sphere. Big shout judged on hurdles form; chasing on last four outings, best on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (40/1 +0%) Fast Deal |
40/1(+0%) | (8) Fast Deal 40/1, Struggling for form and out of the weights, so hard to make a case for. 56 races overall, among which his only win was over fences last April but over 3m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (12/1 -71%) Ben Buie |
12/1(-71%) | (6) Ben Buie 12/1, Unreliable sort who arrives on the back of a tame display and needs the refitting of blinkers to perk him up. 7-30 over fences; seemingly reluctant to put his best foot forward at Southwell latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (10/1 -33%) Ascension Day |
10/1(-33%) | (1) Ascension Day 10/1, Runner-up 3 times on the bounce over hurdles in the first half of this year. Might have needed the outing when below par back from 7 weeks off at Southwell on penultimate outing but was beaten a long way out on chasing debut at Hereford since. Three 2nds in a row over hurdles last April-June; tailed off on chase debut latest start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EXTRAORDINARY MAN has been given a chance by the handicapper and having posted a respectable second behind Abaya Du Mathan at Southwell last month, the nine-year-old must hold every chance of success running off 1lb lower here. Ascension Day has also been cut some slack and is dangerous to underestimate. Ben Buie, who has his own ideas about the game, is better than he showed when pulled up in the aforementioned Southwell race and can figure if on a going day.
EXTRAORDINARY MAN is the only one who arrives on the back of a solid effort and he's probably the one to side with in a poor affair. Shuil Ceoil likely has more to offer as a chaser and he's worthy of interest, while Abaya du Mathan isn't without hope if he takes his chance on the back of a quick turnaround.
Runner-up at Southwell one month ago, EXTRAORDINARY MAN has a good chance to go one better in this weak line-up.

1st (3) (4/7 +62%) Hombre De Guerra |
4/7(+62%) | (3) Hombre De Guerra 4/7, Fair hurdler who got off the mark in a C&D maiden in March. Had wind op/off 8 months before a good second in a C&D novice chase 32 days ago and he's of interest now handicapping returned to this venue. Very creditable 2nd on chase debut at Carlisle; on an attractive mark now back in handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 +8%) Imaginary Dragon |
11/2(+8%) | (1) Imaginary Dragon 11/2, Fair hurdler who opened account at Kelso (22.7f) last December before a creditable fifth at Musselburgh in February. Found test inadequate after 10 months off when pulled up on chase debut at Carlisle (2m) 32 days ago and this again probably on the sharp side. Pulled up on chase debut but may have needed the run; lightly raced and retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 -20%) Park Annonciade |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Park Annonciade 3/1, Useful Irish hurdler who has yet to complete in this sphere but in process of running well (in second at the time) when falling 3 out at Doncaster (19f) 3 weeks ago. Player if brushing up his jumping. Yet to complete over fences but running well when falling 3 out last time; possible player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (28/1 -75%) Hermes Boy |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Hermes Boy 28/1, Mark eased plenty and capitalised on drop into class 5 company when successful in refitted cheekpieces at Wincanton (21.3f, heavy) in February. Overall record is patchy and unable to back that up twice thereafter. Returns to chasing now for new yard. Won over hurdles last February but struggled the next twice; has changed hands for £2,000. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HOMBRE DE GUERRA won a maiden hurdle here in March last year before struggling to land a blow at the Scottish National meeting on handicap debut. Nick Alexander's gelding was no match for Caldwell Potter on his chasing/seasonal bow at Carlisle but it was a solid beginning in this sphere and this might be the time to catch him, especially on his second start after a wind operation. Park Annonciade and Imaginary Dragon complete the shortlist.
HOMBRE DE GUERRA produced a promising first effort in this sphere when runner-up in a Carlisle novice 32 days ago and he earns the vote to build on that now handicapping back at the scene of his sole hurdles victory. Park Annonciade can emerge as the chief threat.
The unexposed 7yo HOMBRE DE GUERRA has an attractive mark to work with now back in a handicap for his second chase start.

Gloire D'athon |
(7) (18/1 0%)18/1(0%) | (7) Gloire D'athon 18/1, Prolific early in his chasing career (winning 5 of his first 6 starts) but has lost his way over fences in the last year or so and was poor over hurdles last time. 5-17 over fences but his latest win was May 2023 and last year went badly; first visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (13/8 +64%) Heard That |
13/8(+64%) | (6) Heard That 13/8, Fair maiden over hurdles who dispelled his return/chase debut blip when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Warwick in November. Not disgraced there next time but his jumping needs to improve. Chasing on last three starts, with good runs at Warwick on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (10/1 +55%) Kayce Dutton |
10/1(+55%) | (9) Kayce Dutton 10/1, No real impact in a couple of starts over hurdles for this yard and chasing debut at Southwell didn't contain a great deal of encouragement. Others preferred. Long absence before soundly beaten in two handicaps this winter, latest his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/1 +45%) Harjo |
11/1(+45%) | (5) Harjo 11/1, Won his second chase start but has completely lost his way and a drastic turnaround is needed in first-time blinkers. Pulled up in five of his last six starts; wind surgery before latest; different headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -82%) Envious Editor |
10/1(-82%) | (2) Envious Editor 10/1, Back to winning ways in hunter at Stratford (21f) in May and essentially acquitted himself well in defeat for Gary Hanmer since, third of 8 at Doncaster last time. Should give another good account. 0-7 for new stable but edging down the weights and most of that form gives him a big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/2 +36%) Fire Dancer |
7/2(+36%) | (3) Fire Dancer 7/2, Made a winning start for this yard on the back of a lengthy absence at Ludlow in January 2023. Proved inconsistent since, but has been given a chance by the handicapper and can't be ruled out. Twice runner-up (2m) last spring and he'd be a big player if reverting to that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (6/1 +33%) Maninsane |
6/1(+33%) | (10) Maninsane 6/1, Dual winner in first campaign over fences (including over C&D) but not so consistent last term. Two of his three outings this season have been creditable and he's not one to rule out. Runner-up here in October and should figure prominently in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (13/2 -18%) Slievegar |
13/2(-18%) | (4) Slievegar 13/2, Multiple point winner who bagged a small-field Kelso hunter on his latest start under Rules back in May 2023. Winless between the flags since but makes debut for new yard on a tempting mark and unlikely to be found wanting fitness-wise. First run for Nigel Twiston-Davies; two good runs in hunter chases in May 2023 were 3m2f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HEARD THAT won with something in hand at Warwick in November and although he made a hash of things with a couple of jumping errors when tried over 3m off this mark last time out, he should be wiser for the experience and could be hard to beat back at 2m4f, providing he has learned from those mistakes. The consistent Envious Editor and Fire Dancer rate the chief threats to the selection, with the former appealing most off 4lb below his last winning rating.
The well-treated ABINGWORTH shaped as if back in form last time and is worth taking a chance on in an open race. Envious Editor is likely to give his running and Slievegar is one to monitor in the betting debuting for a new stable.
Among several plausible but not compelling options, FIRE DANCER may come good again. Heard That is feared most.

1st (12) (11/5 +56%) Alright Dai |
11/5(+56%) | (12) Alright Dai 11/5, Made the frame all 3 starts in bumpers (trained by Dan Skelton first 2 outings), but hadn't offered much over hurdles until taking a step forward in first-time cheekpieces when landing handicap at Market Rasen (20.6f) on Boxing Day. Respected under a penalty. Won readily in first-time cheekpieces at Market Rasen last Thursday; leading player. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (20/1 +50%) Snowrocco |
20/1(+50%) | (5) Snowrocco 20/1, Placed in an Irish point and encouragement when making the frame at Wetherby on hurdles bow. Remote third at Catterick next time, before down the field at Musselburgh (15.6f) on seasonal/handicap debut in November, but the step up in trip should suit. Down the field on handicap debut but bred to be suited by this longer trip; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (19) (7/2 +56%) Cave Hill |
7/2(+56%) | (19) Cave Hill 7/2, Has looked an improved performer with tongue tie applied last 2 starts, getting off the mark in 16-runner handicap hurdle at Newcastle (20.3f) 19 days ago. Enters calculations now that he's up and running. Won big-field handicap at Newcastle last time; different ground today but still respected. |

6th (20) (11/1 +39%) Lewa House |
11/1(+39%) | (20) Lewa House 11/1, Only one win from 22 starts but placed on 4 of his 6 outings last season. Failed to come on for reappearance run when sixth of 11 at Hexham (20.1f) 22 days ago, but he's not ruled out from 5 lb below his winning mark. Inconsistent 9yo with poor strike-rate but second in this last year and not ruled out e-w. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (6/1 +40%) Wainwright |
6/1(+40%) | (14) Wainwright 6/1, After 5 months off, finished well held but showed a bit more promise on third start when seventh of 12 in novice at Kelso (18.1f) in April, still having plenty to do between 4 out and 3 out. Could yet do better as he makes handicap debut after 8 months off. Soundly beaten on all three starts but could improve for the longer trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (15/2 +17%) Beat The Retreat |
15/2(+17%) | (13) Beat The Retreat 15/2, Successful at this course (18f) in December 2023 but lost his way as the season ended and pulled up on return. However, under Dominic Hislop he bounced back to form when third at Musselburgh (19.8f) in November. Capable of getting involved. Course winner who was a good third at Musselburgh last time and could be thereabouts. |

9th (17) (33/1 -18%) Ballyquin Bay |
33/1(-18%) | (17) Ballyquin Bay 33/1, Remains a maiden after 17 starts. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (18) (125/1 -150%) Catcha Flight |
125/1(-150%) | (18) Catcha Flight 125/1, Hinted at ability on bumper debut and did the same making third start over hurdles, unable to sustain effort from a long way back when down the field in a Kelso maiden (16.2f) 25 days ago. Upped in trip for handicap bow. Goes h'capping off lowly mark but hasn't achieved much over h'dles; claims not compelling. |

12th (3) (28/1 -40%) Love That |
28/1(-40%) | (3) Love That 28/1, Has made the frame (modest form) all 3 completed starts over hurdles, avoiding mistakes when second in a Kelso novice (20.9f) 25 days ago, albeit beaten 21 lengths. 13th (4) (50/1 -79%) Coral Blue |
50/1(-79%) | (4) Coral Blue 50/1, Three-time winner in 2022/23, including at this C&D, but failed to fire in 3 starts last season. After 6 months off, shaped as if better for the run when fourth of 5 at Uttoxeter (15.8f) in July, but he's been off again since. Won over C&D in February 2023 but this 10yo has been lightly raced since and hasn't shone. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) (20/1 -82%) Marty Mcfly |
20/1(-82%) | (7) Marty Mcfly 20/1, Struck at second time of asking for Sandy Thomson in a Perth handicap in June, but failed to repeat that effort at Kelso 5 months later (following a wind op). However, he ran better when fourth of 8 at Doncaster (16.6f) last time. Tongue strap back on. Shaped when fourth at Doncaster latest as though this step back up in trip worth a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (22/1 -38%) Topkapi Star |
22/1(-38%) | (15) Topkapi Star 22/1, Successful twice in 2022/23 but ran only once the following season. However, after another 5 months off she bounced back when winning at Sedgefield (19.8f) in October. Backed up that effort when fourth at Haydock (24.3f) last time, so she could be in the mix. Won at Sedgefield in October and fair fourth at Haydock next time; could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (28/1 -40%) Euchan Falls |
28/1(-40%) | (11) Euchan Falls 28/1, Last win came at this C&D back in March 2023 and, after 5 months off, has finished well beaten returned to chasing on his last 2 starts. However, he's now dropped below his last winning mark as he reverts to hurdling with cheekpieces reapplied. C&D winner but well beaten over fences the last twice and needs to raise his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (50/1 +0%) Lisloran |
50/1(+0%) | (8) Lisloran 50/1, Won 3 times over fences at around 20f during 2022/23 campaign. Failed to kick on from a respectable run over hurdles last term, well held in handicap chase at this course (20.5f) in February. Off 10 months (has had breathing operation). Returns from absence on a handy mark but was tailed off on his last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (80/1 -21%) Ardera Cross |
80/1(-21%) | (16) Ardera Cross 80/1, Veteran who has 9 chase wins at this course to his name. However, ran no sort of race at Carlisle on final outing in 2023/24 and has fared no better in 2 starts here this season. Others preferred back over hurdles. Nine-time course winner but this 14yo has struggled here on his two starts this season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Freshened up following a costly Southwell defeat in the summer, ALRIGHT DAI made amends with an impressive victory at Market Rasen on Boxing Day and he is 5lb well-in under his penalty. The cheekpieces that appeared to do the trick in Lincolnshire stay on and he can follow up. Achnamara's penalty leaves him 6lb lower than his revised rating so the Sedgefield scorer looks very dangerous. Cave Hill arrives on the back of a breakthrough triumph at Newcastle and is noted too.
ACHNAMARA wasted no time getting back on track when opening his hurdles account with a wide-margin success at Sedgefield on Boxing Day and he can go on to score again under a penalty. Alright Dai also arrives on the back of a win 7 days ago and could be the biggest threat, with Cave Hill and Beat The Retreat also considered.
Having bolted up at Market Rasen on Boxing Day, ALRIGHT DAI can defy a penalty and make it 2-2 in the cheekpieces.

1st (8) (9/2 +44%) Jujubella |
9/2(+44%) | (8) Jujubella 9/2, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap (9/1) at this course (8f) 16 days ago, inadequate test. Could do more upped in trip. 0-7 but three fair efforts for new yard and she looks interesting on this step up to 1m2f. |

2nd (2) (11/10 +37%) Come On John |
11/10(+37%) | (2) Come On John 11/10, Latest win at Southwell in October. Good second of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, evens) 6 days ago. Looks the one to beat if in the same form. Had a near-miss at Wolverhampton last week and he's a big player again back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/1 -47%) Triple Force |
11/1(-47%) | (1) Triple Force 11/1, Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap (15/2) at this C&D 21 days ago, slowly away. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Not without hope in an open contest. 13-race maiden who faded into fifth when upped to 1m2f here last time; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (25/1 +24%) Dragons Will Rise |
25/1(+24%) | (7) Dragons Will Rise 25/1, 3-time C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Eighth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 40/1) 86 days ago, lost all chance at start. Back up in trip. Others preferred. Returned from a long absence last December and he's struggled since then; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 -120%) Inspiring Speeches |
11/1(-120%) | (5) Inspiring Speeches 11/1, 9/2, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 12 days ago. 15-race maiden who has been well held last twice and this trip is an unknown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (33/1 -371%) Fifty Sent |
33/1(-371%) | (3) Fifty Sent 33/1, C&D winner. One win from 24 Flat runs. Good second of 7 in handicap at Redcar (10f, soft, 7/2). Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Michael Dods. Enters calculations. Went very close at Redcar in May when last seen; up 2lb on return for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (14/1 -75%) Violeta |
14/1(-75%) | (6) Violeta 14/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 8 in novice hurdle (80/1) at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft) on NH debut 34 days ago. Modest on the Flat, creditable on last Flat outing. Not ruled out. Struggled on hurdling debut latest but was in good form on AW before that; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (8/1 +50%) Treasure Storm |
8/1(+50%) | (4) Treasure Storm 8/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 40/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at this C&D 16 days ago. Not completely dismissed. Sole win was in May 2023 and has not threatened in six runs for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (14/1 +13%) Blackstone Cliff |
14/1(+13%) | (9) Blackstone Cliff 14/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. First run since leaving Gerard Keane when creditable third of 9 in handicap (28/1) at this C&D 21 days ago. Could build on that, so not a forlorn hope. Back on the Flat with eyecatching third over C&D on recent stable debut; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (40/1 -21%) Tiger Trap |
40/1(-21%) | (10) Tiger Trap 40/1, 11/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 21 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Has a bit to prove and needs headgear to perk him up. 15-race maiden who has yet to be placed and was well held over C&D latest; blinkers on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
James Owen's yard continues in fine form and another bold bid is expected from COME ON JOHN, who finished a close second for the third consecutive outing when denied by a head over 1m4f at Wolverhampton last week. He is 2lb higher but drops back to a winning distance and looks a safer option than the returning Fifty Sent, although the latter is a C&D winner and has every chance on the form of his narrow defeat at Redcar when last seen in May. Inspiring Speeches has slipped to a tempting mark and is interesting now stepped up in trip.
COME ON JOHN is in excellent form and, for all he found one too good again last time, he was clear of the remainder, and this doesn't look as strong, so he gets the nod ahead of Jujubella, who should benefit from the step up in trip. Fifty Sent is another one to consider.
Top of the list is triple Tapeta winner COME ON JOHN, who had a near-miss at Wolverhampton last week. Jujubella is feared most.

1st (3) (2/5 +45%) Sixmilebridge |
2/5(+45%) | (3) Sixmilebridge 2/5, £100,000 buy after finishing runner-up completed start in Irish points and looked above average in bumpers. Built on hurdling debut with impressive success in a novice at Leicester 28 days ago and worth a chance to follow up. 1-2 for easy win at Leicester (2m4f, heavy) but the form probably gives him a fine chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 +9%) Land Afar |
5/2(+9%) | (1) Land Afar 5/2, Has clearly had his problems since showing fairly useful form in bumpers for Anthony McCann but retains plenty of ability based on what he's done over hurdles, scoring readily in a novice claiming event at Ludlow last month. May do better still. 2nd here (2m4f) and at Uttoxeter before he won easily at 10-11 in a claimer at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 +50%) Western Harmony |
10/1(+50%) | (5) Western Harmony 10/1, Cost £115,000 after winning his second of 2 starts in Irish points in the spring. Promise both starts in bumpers but wasn't really threatening when unseating at Leicester 45 days ago. Needs to build on that. Irish maiden point winner; came up short in two bumpers and 2m4f Leicester maiden hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (100/1 +0%) Tarbuck |
100/1(+0%) | (4) Tarbuck 100/1, Fair in bumpers but yet to feature over hurdles and is probably more one for handicaps. Second in a Taunton bumper and comparable form on latest start; others have done much more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SIXMILEBRIDGE relished the step up to a similar trip when powering clear for a facile maiden hurdle success at Leicester, form which has been boosted by the fifth scoring since, and Fergal O'Brien's gelding looks capable of defying a penalty with further improvement possible. Land Afar also broke his duck over timber in comfortable fashion last time, although he didn't appear to beat much in that 2m contest at Ludlow. It would be no surprise to see point-to-point winner Western Harmony leave his hurdles debut effort, when unseating his rider, behind him.
SIXMILEBRIDGE and Land Afar both had plenty to spare when scoring last time out but Sixmilebridge's form has more substance to it and he gets the narrow vote, with Silver Thorn also respected.
This is probably all set for SIXMILEBRIDGE to win again, following a 14l success at Leicester. The clear second choice is Land Afar.

1st (2) (10/11 +24%) Whistle Stop Tour |
10/11(+24%) | (2) Whistle Stop Tour 10/11, Dual hurdle winner last season and this former Irish point scorer made it second time lucky over fences with a convincing display at Kelso (3m, heavy) last month, forging clear late on. Definitely more to come and can make light of a 6 lb rise. Won at Kelso last month on second chase start & could have lots more to offer over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (22/1 +21%) Wasdell Dundalk |
22/1(+21%) | (4) Wasdell Dundalk 22/1, Five wins since joining this yard but arrives with something to prove having pulled up on his last 2 outings. Won twice in the autumn; current mark shouldn't be beyond him but pulled up the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 -5%) Jet Legs |
7/2(-5%) | (5) Jet Legs 7/2, Winner of a pair of handicap chases around 3m last winter. Better effort this term when fifth of 11 in 4m Borders National at Kelso last month, left behind gradually after 3 out. Respected back at 3m. Progressive novice last season; weakened when fifth over 4m at Kelso; could be a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/1 -175%) Gold Cup Bailly |
11/1(-175%) | (1) Gold Cup Bailly 11/1, Won first 3 starts sent chasing in 2022/23, including C&D, but lightly raced and well held since. Off a further 8 months since finishing 22 lengths third of 4 over hurdles at Down Royal in May. Below par last spring and returns from some more time off today, but has good record here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/3 +52%) Special Rate |
10/3(+52%) | (3) Special Rate 10/3, Enjoyed a most productive campaign over hurdles/fences last term, winning 7 from 10 starts for Philip Kirby. Shaped better than the result when seventh of 13 in the competitive Rehearsal at Newcastle (3m, good) in November, weakening having made headway into third. Had wind op since. On a handy mark on last season's best and not ruled out on first run since wind surgery. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Whistle Stop Tour was a progressive hurdler and looks set to continue that forward momentum after making it second-time lucky over fences at Kelso. Even so, a chance is still taken on the fitness of GOLD CUP BAILLY, who took this prize in 2023. Winless, albeit quite lightly raced since, his last three chase starts have come in Grade 3/premier handicap company and he can make the most of the drop in class. Special Rate also commands respect.
A 6 lb rise doesn't look enough to stop WHISTLE STOP TOUR with further improvement very much on the cards. Jet Legs seemed to find 4m on deep ground stretching his stamina in the 4m Borders National at Kelso and can provide the main threat back over shorter.
The novice WHISTLE STOP TOUR won at Kelso last month on second chase start and looks to be a stayer going places.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A big run from Come On John in the previous race here would boost the claims of BUSBY, who beat that one by three-quarters of a length when getting back in the winner's enclosure at Southwell. The application of a first-time visor was given as the reason for that improved performance and if the headgear has the same effect, Philip Kirby's gelding would have sound double claims as the second-highest rated in this classified stakes. Bond Spirit and Rubellite have been running well in defeat and can both have their say again.
BUSBY benefited from a first-time visor when scoring at Southwell recently and, if the headgear continues to have a positive effect, he's capable of following up. Bond Spirit looks the main threat and Lednikov also arrives on the back of a reasonable showing.
The vote goes to 11-time AW winner BUSBY, who turned things around after a break when making all at Southwell 13 days ago.

Not fired in 2 starts this winter but he comes here back on last winning mark and application of a tongue tie could help. Despite his pedigree, he hasn't convinced with his stamina; has tongue tied first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -27%) Hystery Bere |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Hystery Bere 7/2, Fairly useful hurdle/chase winner who ran another solid race with blinkers refitted when runner-up in 5-runner handicap chase at this course (19.9f, soft) 6 weeks ago. Visor now the headgear of choice and he's worth a crack at this longer trip. First run beyond an extended 2m4f and he did rally well over 2m4f here last time; visor on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/3 +17%) Seefin |
10/3(+17%) | (2) Seefin 10/3, A three-time hurdles winner last season, latterly in 7-runner handicap at Warwick 12 months ago. Below that level next 2 starts and never figured under a patient ride on return/chase debut at Uttoxeter (20f, heavy) 13 days ago. Type to do better. Did not show much on recent chase/seasonal debut, admittedly 16-1 over an inadequate 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/4 +0%) Kaituna River |
11/4(+0%) | (4) Kaituna River 11/4, Lightly-raced winning hurdler who made a solid start in this sphere when second in 10-runner handicap chase at Southwell (20.4f) 4 weeks ago, jumping well in the main. Feasible to think he can build on that. Improved again when second at Southwell (extended 2m4f, good to soft) on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 -14%) Laskalin |
8/1(-14%) | (5) Laskalin 8/1, Useful at his best but more miss than hit last term and he could only run to a similar level as on return when well held third of 7 in handicap chase at Hereford (25.2f, soft) 12 days ago. Needs to step up despite tumbling mark. 1-18 for this stable; would have finished closer last time but for a sprawl two out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Hystery Bere was doing his best work at the finish when runner-up over 2m4f here in November and may appreciate the step up in trip in a first-time visor. However, he is on a long losing run and it could pay to take him on with KING'S THRESHOLD, who is now back on the same mark as when successful over 2m5f at Ascot in March and drops in class. There were some promising signs in Kaituna River's chasing debut second over an extended 2m4f at Southwell and he is open to improvement.
It could be worth siding with HYSTERY BERE who matched his previous best in this sphere when runner-up over shorter here 6 weeks ago and this longer trip is worth exploring on balance. Lightly raced 8-y-o Kaituna River ought to have more to offer and is feared along with top weight King's Threshold. Market confidence behind Seefin would also need to be viewed positively.
All have at least one glaring question to answer. With KAITUNA RIVER it's untested stamina but he demands enthusiasm on other counts.

1st (4) (7/2 -40%) Hashtag Boum |
7/2(-40%) | (4) Hashtag Boum 7/2, Fairly useful winning hurdler who struck at the first time of asking over fences in 21f Sedgefield handicap at the beginning of October. Bumped into a smart prospect when second at Uttoxeter since. Likely more to come and respected. Promise on both chase starts and he could have more to offer; one to consider. |

2nd (5) (28/1 -40%) Lord Roco |
28/1(-40%) | (5) Lord Roco 28/1, Hurdle winner. Also runner-up 3 times over fences at the end of 2022 but off since pulling up twice at Carlisle in early 2023. Returns in quite a warm race and can only watch. Promising start to chase career in late 2022 but he has a hefty absence to defy. |

3rd (1) (11/10 +32%) President Scottie |
11/10(+32%) | (1) President Scottie 11/10, Ended last term on the up over hurdles, including a 20.5f win here. Promising second in 21.5f Haydock handicap on chase debut/reappearance. Looks sure to progress and win races over fences. Course hurdles winner who was a promising second on chase debut; open to improvement. |

4th (7) (17/2 +15%) Step Above |
17/2(+15%) | (7) Step Above 17/2, Shaped well when third on his 2½m Perth reappearance in September but pulled up at Newcastle 2 months later. Won here over hurdles but pulled up over fences at Newcastle last time; has to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/5 +20%) Choose A Copper |
16/5(+20%) | (2) Choose A Copper 16/5, Posted career best when making a winning return/chasing bow at Hexham (2½m) in October. Disappointed at Kelso last time but he remains on a fair mark and could well bounce back. Won on chase debut at Hexham; disappointing at Kelso since but retains potential. |

|PU| (6) (16/1 +68%) Ozzy Cosmo |
16/1(+68%) | (6) Ozzy Cosmo 16/1, Irish point recruit who landed a 2m course novice hurdle on Rules debut last December but fell both subsequent hurdle starts last season and made an inauspicious start to his chase career when last of 6 on Kelso reappearance. Should do better at some point but can only watch this time. Course novice hurdle winner; not written off but well beaten at 33-1 on his chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
PRESIDENT SCOTTIE was far from disgraced when finishing second on his chasing debut at Haydock and is only 2lb higher for that performance. With plenty of scope for improvement, the gelding might be able to go one better. The main threat could be Hashtag Boum, who occupied the runner-up berth in this grade at Uttoxeter last time and should go well. Choose A Copper completes the shortlist.
There was plenty to like about PRESIDENT SCOTTIE's chase debut second at Haydock last month and he's narrowly preferred to Ruth Jefferson's Hashtag Boum in quite an interesting novice handicap.
Topweight PRESIDENT SCOTTIE (nap) is a useful prospect and can get off the mark over fences following his promising chase debut second.

16/1(-129%) | (5) Art Fantastique 16/1, 4/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 29 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Tom Ward. Hood on 1st time, cheekpieces on 1st time. Hasn't been seen to best effect the last twice, so can't be ruled out. Had wind op and extra headgear is added but he needs to get back near best for new yard. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
After not getting home over 7f, NOBLE CONSORT relished the drop in trip when making all with plenty to spare over C&D last month. Julie Camacho's four-year-old has gone up 5lb for his first victory from 12 attempts, but could kick on for that confidence booster and remains unexposed over sprint distances. Spartan Fighter has slipped back to the mark he won off over track and trip in October so must be feared. Art Fantastique has also come back down to a feasible rating and is worth a second look, along with Lahab.
NOBLE CONSORT was better than ever when scoring over C&D last time and he's unexposed as a sprinter so he's worth a chance to follow up despite a tricky draw. Doon The Glen is considered on the back of a good effort at Southwell, while McCauley's Tavern could up his game with a visor fitted.
Preference is for NOBLE CONSORT (nap), who returned to sprinting with an all-the-way win over C&D two weeks ago.

Ran to a similar level when second in a small-field handicap at Leicester on first start for this yard but needs more in a deeper race here. Placed in 2m novice and 2m4f handicap in her last two races over hurdles, offering hope. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ROCKOLA attracted plenty of market support ahead of her handicap debut at Southwell and showed her appreciation for the step up to two and a half miles by getting the job done with the minimum of fuss. A 6lb rise may prove lenient and there is more to come from her. Speiriuil stepped forward from her comeback to get off the mark at Lingfield and is another with her best days in front of her. Ask Me Another comfortably accounted for the selection at Hereford in April, but her subsequent absence tempers enthusiasm.
A good-looking race for the grade. ASK ME ANOTHER was comfortably on top of Rockola when the pair met in a juvenile event at Hereford in April and, with Robbie Llewellyn's filly bred to go on improving now stepping up in trip, she's taken to confirm her superiority and come out on top. Rockola is open to further progress herself and has to be respected, along with fellow last-time-out winner Speiriuil.
The three last-time-out winners look the ones to concentrate on, with ASK ME ANOTHER (nap) preferred to Speiriuil and Rockola.

Possibly best watched unless the market hints otherwise. Four-time winner but down the field in November 2023 and absent since. |

10th (1) (14/1 -17%) Wakool |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Wakool 14/1, C&D winner but had a poor time last season and beaten 21 lengths when fourth on his C&D return from wind surgery in November. Tongue tied first time now. He continues to drop down the weights but for good reason; needs to turn things around. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HAZY GLEN made a successful handicap debut at Haydock on his most recent outing and the handicapper might have been kind to only put him up 5lb for that triumph. He takes a step up in trip, which could eke out the improvement required to go in again. Both Barrels justified favouritism over an extended 2m6f at Kelso last April and could get involved on his reappearance. Forged Well is another to watch out for.
HAZY GLEN should have more to come so a 5 lb rise for Haydock doesn't look enough to prevent him going in again assuming his stamina holds now stepping up significantly in trip. Last-time-out Kelso 2-3 Forged Well and Gaillimh A Stor may give him most to do.
The improving 6yo FORGED WELL has been in fine form at Kelso the last twice and this further step up in trip promises to suit.

YOSHIMI finished off his race well after being slowly away on his latest start at Wolverhampton and the eight-year-old, who was dropped 1lb for that effort, has every chance of returning to winning ways. Tomorrow Day has won three of her last five outings at this track and is likely to enter the reckoning, while Jimmy Knocker could be sharper for the experience gained when fourth on his handicap debut at Southwell.
A chance is taken on lightly-raced 4-y-o JIMMY KNOCKER building on a good handicap debut at Southwell a fortnight ago. Tomorrow Day's excellent course record of late makes him a must for the shortlist, while Yoshimi is a more potent force over 7f but could still play a prominent role. Oriental Prince would also enter the reckoning if turning out again after Wednesday.
In-form ORIENTAL PRINCE is unpenalised for his 5f win here yesterday and he can take the return to 6f in his stride.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +17%) Lock Stock |
10/3(+17%) | (4) Lock Stock 10/3, Jack Hobbs gelding. Fifth sole start in point bumpers (Apr 20) and promise amidst obvious signs of inexperience when second in 4-runner bumper at Wincanton (15.2f) 54 days ago, headed dying strides. Worth considering with his rider taking off a handy 7 lb. Gave Nicholls favourite a run for his money in Wincanton bumper on yard debut; can improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/2 -15%) Draco Malfoy |
15/2(-15%) | (3) Draco Malfoy 15/2, €140,000 4-y-o, Harzand gelding. Successful on second of 2 outings in Irish points (Apr 28) and showed ability without being able to justify favouritism when fourth behind re-opposing John Barbour in bumper at Uttoxeter (15.8f) 7 weeks ago. Entitled to do better. Ordinary form when winning Irish point; beaten favourite behind John Barbour in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 +33%) John Barbour |
3/1(+33%) | (1) John Barbour 3/1, Promise when third in a C&D bumper for Tom George last spring and, with a tongue tie added, he duly built on that to make a winning debut for new yard in 8-runner Uttoxeter bumper 7 weeks ago, staying on to lead final 100 yds. This looks tougher. Ran green but cosy winner in the end on yard debut in November; can progress further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (18/1 -125%) Three Pikes |
18/1(-125%) | (9) Three Pikes 18/1, Jack Hobbs gelding. Dam ran twice over hurdles, closely related to smart hurdle/chase winner (stays 21f) My Drogo out of useful hurdler/chaser My Petra (stayed 21f). Betting can prove a useful guide as to expectations on debut. Dam closely related to smart jumper My Drogo; market strength would be interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 +22%) Castanea Breeze |
14/1(+22%) | (2) Castanea Breeze 14/1, €14,000 3-y-o, Diamond Boy gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Sporting Mike, stays 23f. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler (stayed 21f) In Contrast. Yard boasts a 15% record with their runners in this code in last 5 seasons. Useful pedigree; worth market check for yard that's 3-12 in bumpers here in last 5 years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (33/1 +18%) Cap Ricochet |
33/1(+18%) | (11) Cap Ricochet 33/1, Capri gelding. Dam no form in bumpers. 12/1, showed ability whilst shaping as if better for the run when fourth of 9 in bumper at Wetherby (16f, heavy) on NH debut 26 days ago, fading. Can do better but others appeal more on this occasion. Home-bred 4yo from same family as Desert Orchid; promising debut; looks sure to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (8/1 -100%) Spectre One |
8/1(-100%) | (8) Spectre One 8/1, €60,000 3-y-o, Kingston Hill gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/chase winner Magnor Glory and bumper winner/useful hurdler Black Bamboo, stays 3m. Dam 19f/2½m hurdle/chase winner. Likely type on paper for top stable. Had wind op. 60,000euros 3yo; dam winning hurdler/chaser at about 2m4f; had wind op; market interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (100/1 -25%) Apieceovfortune |
100/1(-25%) | (10) Apieceovfortune 100/1, Yard have enjoyed plenty of success with this family but she looked one for later on when tenth of 13 in bumper at Southwell (15.8f, good to soft, 25/1) on debut 17 days ago. Easy to back and never reached a challenging position on recent bumper debut at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (66/1 -267%) Money To Burn |
66/1(-267%) | (5) Money To Burn 66/1, Valirann gelding who showed promise when fourth of 14 in bumper at Cork (16.9f, good to soft) on sole start for Shark Hanlon in summer 2023. Absent since though, and percentage call is to look elsewhere. Early promise in a Cork bumper during July 2023 but off since; new yard; other days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (150/1 -88%) Royal Hope |
150/1(-88%) | (7) Royal Hope 150/1, €10,000 3-y-o, Imperial Monarch gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including fairly useful hurdle winner/unreliable but useful chaser Hold The Note. Fifth sole start in point bumpers (May 2024). Yard 1-21 with their runners in this sphere. Dam bred two bumper winners; not show enough on point debut to fancy for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (125/1 -89%) Little Mukka |
125/1(-89%) | (12) Little Mukka 125/1, Mukhadram gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including modest hurdler Just Once. Dam 7f winner. Yard 0-23 with their representatives in this sphere in last 5 seasons and he's a likely outsider on racecourse bow. Dam bred a winning staying hurdler; yard an unlikely source of bumper winners. |

John Barbour looked quite a nice prospect when running on strongly to make a successful beginning for the Fergal O'Brien team at Uttoxeter, despite showing his inexperience. Draco Malfoy had to settle for fourth when sent off favourite for that contest, but could at least close the gap on the revised terms. Spectre One is an interesting newcomer, but LOCK STOCK went down with all guns blazing at Wincanton. The winner has since held his own in Listed company, so the form is solid, and Ben Pauling's charge can make it second-time lucky under Rules.
NAZARE produced a promising first effort, powering home in the style of a sure-fire improver when second at Southwell 4 weeks ago and he earns the vote to confirm the promise of that run and go one place better. Lock Stock, who also finished runner-up on his debut is also fancied to feature. Newcomers Spectre One and Three Pikes are others to note, along with Draco Malfoy.
Several promising types in here but LOCK STOCK might be the one after giving it a good shake for his new yard at Wincanton recently.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (250/1 -25%) Keeper Of Secrets |
250/1(-25%) | (3) Keeper Of Secrets 250/1, Has failed to beat a rival in 2 course novices over much longer trips. Tailed off at massive prices in two runs here (1m4f/1m2f) here last month; now drops to 7f. |

GENERAL ADMISSION arguably sets the standard based on his debut second at Kempton in October. A half-brother to a recent Grade 2 winner in the US, Andrew Balding's colt is expected to take a decent step forward and gets a confident vote to shed the maiden tag. Kevin Ryan's debutants tend to improve plenty from the experience and Lord Capulet may be another to do similar following his Redcar fifth in November. First Ambition is the first foal of star mare Laurens to reach the track and any market confidence should be heeded.
Andrew Balding's GENERAL ADMISSION shaped well enough on his debut to think he can win a race like this. Great Dream and Lord Capulet hinted at promise on their turf debuts in the autumn and rate likely improvers. Karl Burke's First Ambition is a newcomer to monitor closely in the betting.
Andrew Balding's GENERAL ADMISSION showed plenty of promise with his debut second at Kempton and sets the standard on that form.

ANGEL OF ANTRIM has taken his form to a whole new level on his recent C&D victories, scoring in style before defying an 8lb rise to complete a double with ease last week. Jack Morland's gelding is 6lb well-in under a penalty and is likely to prove tough to beat if in a similar vein of form. Ravensbourne has been knocking on the door at Lingfield recently and commands respect, while Finn Ironside and Streak Lightning can fight it out for the minor honours.
ANGEL OF ANTRIM has dominated a couple of similar races recently and should prove hard to beat again. Impeach, Streak Lightning and Finn Ironside can fight it out for minor honours.
The hat-trick beckons for ANGEL OF ANTRIM who has gained two barnstorming wins over C&D of late and is 6lb well in under a penalty.

6/1(-9%) | (2) Thunder Star 6/1, 5-y-o filly who went winless last year but eased in weights and she again ran well when second of 7 in handicap at this C&D 52 days ago, no match for winner. Should give another good account. All four wins over 5f on turf; decent second over C&D latest; each-way chance. |

SANAT progressed after undergoing wind surgery when with Roger Varian and created a favourable impression when getting off the mark on his final start for that yard in a 6f handicap at Nottingham last August. Now gelded and under the care of the reigning all-weather champion trainer Mick Appleby, he could have plenty more to offer reverting to the all-weather over 5f for the first time. Dual C&D winner Rodborough lurks on a dangerous mark and is feared most, ahead of fellow course winner Water Of Leith.
SANAT was steadily progressive during the summer, making his final start for Roger Varian a winning one at Nottingham in August. He appeals as the type to do better still for his new connections and can make a bold bid to defy a 3 lb higher mark back from a break. Castan and Water of Leith may emerge as the chief threats.
Slight preference is for dual C&D winner CASTAN who is well handicapped and ran creditably in a decent C&D race last time.

3rd (8) (11/2 +27%) Making A Move |
11/2(+27%) | (8) Making A Move 11/2, Offered little all 5 starts in Irish maidens yet, after 5 months off/yard switch, showed first form when sixth of 11 in handicap at this course (10.2f) 56 days ago, looking stretched by the longer trip. One to consider dropping back to 1m. Poor form in Irish maidens; fair 6th on stable debut here (1m2f); drop to 1m could suit. |

4th (3) (13/2 +13%) Calcutta Dream |
13/2(+13%) | (3) Calcutta Dream 13/2, Course winner who wasn't seen to best effect when ninth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 9/1) 24 days ago, never a threat having been left poorly placed. Up to playing his part at this level. Two wins last year were over further but effective at around 1m; interesting down in grade. |

ALEXANDER JAMES was on a mark of 88 the last time he won on the all-weather and although not the force of old, there is not much strength in depth here and he could be worth chancing in this modest classified stakes. Cherry King is open to more progression than the rest over this trip and rates the chief threat. Previous C&D winner Inexplicable is another with solid claims at this level.
An open-looking contest with the narrow vote in favour of 4-y-o CHERRY KING. He has a race of this nature within his grasp judged on the pick of his efforts on all-weather and could be the way to go on his first crack at this level. Calcutta Dream and Alexander James are others to consider, with Making A Move another well worthy of a second look.
The unexposed CHERRY KING looks the one to beat here following his good fourth on his latest start at Chelmsford.

3rd (3) (20/1 -25%) Coramento |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Coramento 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, finished closer than previously without threatening when sixth of 10 in minor event at Catterick (7f, good) in August. Absent again since and another needing to pull out more. Still early days but he needs major improvement after another break. |

4th (7) (6/1 +20%) Pop Favorite |
6/1(+20%) | (7) Pop Favorite 6/1, 6-time C&D winner. Respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (25/1) 16 days ago. Can't be ruled out at this level. Six-time C&D winner who didn't get much luck here last time; could be dangerous. |

5th (8) (4/1 -33%) Yaahobby |
4/1(-33%) | (8) Yaahobby 4/1, Landed back-to-back 7f handicaps in the autumn and lines up here on the back of a respectable third of 11 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 12 days ago. Enters calculations returned to 1m. Placed behind a handicap blot here latest and he looks interesting back up in trip. |

6th (4) (11/2 -100%) Elettaria |
11/2(-100%) | (4) Elettaria 11/2, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 7/2, below form sixth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 13 days ago. Previous efforts where solid in the context of this race and she's worth considering. Plenty of good runs in 2024 including a close call over C&D on penultimate run; key player. |

7th (6) (33/1 -65%) Mr Coco Bean |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Mr Coco Bean 33/1, Veteran campaigner. Forty seven runs since last win in 2021. 80/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 55 days ago. More required. 11yo who has not won since 2021 and he's been well held here (7f/1m) in last four runs. |

8th (1) (125/1 -213%) Brave Musketeer |
125/1(-213%) | (1) Brave Musketeer 125/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 300/1, eleventh of 12 in novice at this course (10.2f) 21 days ago, beaten long way out. Cheekpieces now reached for but good deal more needed if he's to figure even at this level. Tailed off in all three runs so far; headgear is now added and he needs a transformation. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ELETTARIA ran well to finish third in a deeper race over this C&D on her penultimate start and might only need to match that sort of level to be a major player here. As is the case with the selection, Yaahobby is yet to win over a mile but won't need to raise his game by much in this company. Martin's Brig and Pop Favorite are both track-and-trip winners to consider.
YAAHOBBY looked unlucky not to finish closer on his first crack at this trip over C&D 2 starts back and, having run creditably when third over 7f subsequently, he could be the answer back at 1m. Elettaria is a lead threat, with Cloch Nua and Martin's Brig others in the mix.
Preference is for ELETTARIA, who ran plenty of good races last year including a close call over C&D on her penultimate run.
Ths is the racecard key.
